We kick off the show with some great news, Ox is back on radio involved with the SEN footy call. He's pumped, and Marko and Third Man are rapt for the big man. Ox discusses the new role, and how he's really happy to be back with SEN. He tells the story of how he worked for SEN for a long time, got fired, and is now back. He says that SEN saved his life, and explains why. He also talks about a journey of self-growth that he has been on to remove resentment, jealousy and hate, which he admits to suffering from when he was fired from SEN. and coming out the other side of that with a role at SEN, as he calls it, being back home. Ox talks about why he loves SEN - and it's all to do with the people. After pumping up the Ox's tyres (deservedly) Marko raises a first world problem that he needs some advice on. It's do to with his teenager daughter giving him attitude. We explore the issues and try to diagnose the underlying challenge. Not sure that it helped.Ox has a business idea that he wants to run to by the team, but before he can get to that, the hotline rings and it's Sam from Dingley in Melbourne who is calling to make a comment on a sporting hero who has let him down. This sporting hero may be a host on this very podcast. We then discover Mark Allen doesn't know who Jimmy Carr is. Which Ox is amazed by.Back to Ox's business idea. It's do with lost golf balls, and Mark loves the idea. We'll need to get the podcast patent department onto this one. Marko comes up with a name, Ox comes up with a slogan. Team effort.Marko has been made aware of something that has shocked him. To do with Ricky Ponting. Marko decides an investigation is required and it is named 'Operation Bourbon, Beefsteak and Toorak'.Ox raises weather reporters. He has a concern that they are dramatising the weather forecast more than is required - which then for some strange reason turns into a political conversation. Blame Ox.Feedback. Plenty of it, and there is a whack for one of the team, and it's a big one. And during feedback we find a resolution to the potato cake vs potato scallop debate with help from the family.Ox reveals that he is a big fan of Robert Irwin, Steve Irwins son, and reckons he is a future superstar. We're about to wrap up the show, when we get a message from Trout from Woodend who wants to have a chat about Ox's new gig at SEN, and he's got some advice for Marko on his content selection on the podcast. And as usual we wrap it up with the joke wheel - today it lands on the fish category. As always, we're here thanks to Paul & Kurt at the E&S Trading Clearance Centre in Clayton, Melbourne on Dandenong Road - right opposite Ikea. After an incredible deal on amazing gear? You won't believe the prices....absolute rippers! We'd love you to follow a Couple of Blokes, and get involved with the show on social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

Okay so today we're having a couple of quiet brewskis at the Chelsea Heights Hotel in the Sports Bar.Ox and Marko are trying to figure out who the most famous person from the Chelsea area and surrounds might be, Lethal Leigh Matthews gets a run - and we discover that neither Ox or Marko have heard of the rock band Jet, who are from nearby in Dingley, and who had a massive hit with 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'!But no time for that. We have a potential defamation situation on our hands that requires sensitivity in dealing with. Darren the Banker calls through, and he is seriously considering suing Marko for defamation. Ox reminds Darren that the Demons fanbase is heavily made up of lawyers. Find out what has happened on this weeks episode, and whether Marko apologises or not.Ox reckons that he is a great 'apologiser', and that he can deliver a sincere sounding apology, or statement, like nobody else, and gives an example by pumping up Collingwood supporters. It sounds impressive and sincere....but is it?Civil Selfishness. Ox has an issue with teenagers and something they do. Marko disagrees, until Ox clarifies one small point, at which point Marko changes his mind. Sounds like challenging conversations with a certain teenager in the Schwarz household.Which leads on to when you know you are the head of your family, or when the kids assume the role.Marko brings up a story from a previous episode about using the line about being the heir to the Allens Lolly fortune when he was chatting to the ladies, when he was a younger, single guy. And he's now thinking that it is time to pass on this approach to his 14-year old son. Unsurprisingly, Ox thinks it's a ripper idea.Ox had a disaster at home. He has ruined his favourite shoes, and at the same time has damaged the carpet in the house. But, from this mishap has come a moment of genius, it has led to a business idea of Ox's, one that he reckons is a monty and will make him 'billions'.Plenty of feedback from you on todays show, which we always love.Ox talks about going to blue light disco's when he was 8-years old - sounds very early in life to do that, but he reckons kids in Beechworth grew up fast.Marko poses a 'Can We Still Be Friends' scenario to Ox about aliens. Sounds like a joke, but Marko is seriously asking about aliens. Ridiculous and embarrassing.Marko is on 2-weeks probation for stealing jokes. So Ox takes care of the joke today, and gives us a couple. And time is running out to enter our competition to have lunch and a couple of beers with Ox and Marko - easy to enter, share the podcast and include a joke.Follow a Couple of Blokes, Couple of Beers and get involved with the show on social media here: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. In this podcast, Webber Wentzel's Daryl Dingley and Judge David Unterhalter share their insights on the current trading and global influences in Africa with Africa Legal's Tom Pearson. The multiplicity of trade agreements and policies in Africa can best be described as a spider's web, says Daryl Dingley, who heads the Competition,Trade and Investment (CTI) practice at Webber Wentzel. Dingley noted that one of the shortcomings of having numerous regional and institutional bodies, is the inability of African countries to identify the parties in their trade policies. Webber Wentzel can advise governments on these and how to deal with the overlapping nature of the various agreements, he said. Other areas in which they can offer their expertise are in inter-regional trade, customs, regimes, procedures, insufficient infrastructure and the free movement of people. “To achieve the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), for example, and to achieve a liberal trade regime, it's very important that we address some of those issues,” said Dingley. Judge Unterhalter, a South African High Court judge, has served on a number of World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement panels. He pointed out that African countries marginally benefitted from historic trade relationships with their erstwhile colonial counterparts. Unterhalter believes that if the aims of the AfCFTA are recognised, developed and realised, it will bring great advantages to the continent. He cautioned, however, that this must be coupled with significant institutional investment, as well as political will from all member states. In the podcast, Unterhalter delves into what he sees as the future-focused role of the WTO and the economic war between China and the US which, he says, is a key variable not just in trade, but in all areas of global life. The guests discuss the impact of the power rivalry between the two countries, their foreign policies and trade in other nations. Unterhalter comments that in some ways it's at the risk of having to make choices, particularly between the US and China. “Africa wants good relationships with both, and being forced to choose is not helpful. I think there are many opportunities, though, to foster relationships with both in a way that is ultimately in Africa's interests.” Dingley says there is definitely a scramble for investment in Africa, with the Chinese ahead with regard to infrastructure development and spend, while the Americans are throwing their support behind renewables and agriculture. Dingley and Unterhalter also talk about the ways major economic and politically similar African countries could form alliances to take advantage of the benefits of the continent. The conversation wraps up with the guests looking at how AfCFTA would enable streamlining and the adoption of competition rules across the continent, which has previously seemed arduous and complex.
