Hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as Angie did, and much more than Michael. We explain how he did himself a mischief and ended up with stitches, how you make a new surf break with the Albany Board Riders, how the West Coast Eagles could lose a generation of fans and how Brian Canham of Pseudo Echo revamped Funky Town for the 80s. Don't forget to join Michael & Angie on Facebook, to stay in touch, brag to Busso's most famous fisho about your catch and to see Michael's ugly mug.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Comedian Alan Davies joined Clairsy & Lisa as he head sback to Perth for some stand up shows in November. The guys asked him about why it's been 10 years since he was last here, why his son thinks he's Doc Brown from Back To The Future and the surprise world record he broke on TV show Q.I. Lisa had her card skimmed so the guys opened the phone and text line to ask, Did you get your card skimmed and what did they buy? Barra was in with his tips for Round 8, he also spoke to Clairsy & lisa about Freo Captain Alex Pearce's very honest interview regarding his mental health. In The Shaw Report, Lisa will tell you Tom Cruise's routine when he prepares to do those insane stunts on the Mission Impossible movies. It involves sausages and eggs. Pseudo Echo's Love An Adventure album is about to turn 40 years old and the band are out on the road celebrating it. Lead singer Brian Canham joined Clairsy & Lisa in the studio to talk about that album, the importance Molly Meldrum played in launching their career and the headline act they said no to supporting in America. With the Federal Election tomorrow, Clairsy & Lisa got talking about early voting. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week's guest, Rob Wellington, was a total ring-in, but he ended up being a bit of Australian music royalty, so that was nice. Rob directed videos of some of Australian music's biggest hits of the 80s, from bands like The Models, to Pseudo Echo and John Farnham. He also had his own bands on the go in the punk style, from The Fiction to the International Exiles. A busy, productive person. Rob grew up building sailboats and trampoulines with his engineer father and put on a play called 'The Dean Martian Show' in primary school when he was 10 years old. An early sign of things to come. These days Rob loves K-Mart and plays in The Peptides and 90 BPM. He's a St Kilda fella through and through, leading punters on the 'St Kilda Underground Music Walking Tour' with Fed Negroe, who we hope will be joining us in the new year if he doesn't stand us up again. Thanks for joining us for this week's chat, Rob! It was great learning about your contribution to the Australian music scene. Keep up the great work.Check out Models' 'Big On Love' video on YouTubefacebook.com/PeptidesPunkfacebook.com/NinetyBPMfacebook.com/theeFictIon

They were at the forefront of Australia's synthpop scene and Pseudo Echo were rewarded for toughing it out on the rock-dominated live music circuit with a string of hits, including debut single "Listening", which the band played an early version of as an unsigned act on Countdown. Lead singer and principal songwriter Brian Canham tells us about that breakthrough appearance and the success that followed with albums Autumnal Park in 1984 and the next year's Love An Adventure, which yielded three top 15 singles. He also discusses the band's chart-topping remake of "Funky Town" and the dramas that unfolded in the aftermath, which led to an unexpected direction change with 1988's Race. If the move in a rockier direction puzzled you at the time, you weren't alone — hosts Gavin and Robbie recall their reaction to the new-look and new-sound Pseudo Echo, and Brian reveals the behind-the-scenes machinations that led to the shift and, ultimately, the band breaking up.
Pseudo Echo are an Australian new wave band that formed in 1982 by founding mainstay Brian Canham on vocals, guitar and keyboards. Pseudo Echo had Australian top 20 hits with "Listening", "A Beat for You", "Don't Go", "Love an Adventure", "Living in a Dream" and their cover of "Funky Town" which peaked at No. 1 in 1986. In 1987, it reached No. 1 in Canada (No. 17 Year End), No. 1 in New Zealand, No. 6 in the United States, and No. 8 in the United Kingdom.Their 1984 debut album, Autumnal Park, peaked at No. 11 on the Australian Kent Music Report. Love an Adventure followed in 1985 and reached No. 14. Their third album, Race (1988), peaked at No. 18. In 1990, the group disbanded. They reformed in 1998 and have issued four more studio albums but with less chart success, Teleporter (2000), Ultraviolet (2014), Acoustica and After Party (both 2020). Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane stated that in the 1980s they "combined flash clothes, blow-wave hairstyles, youthful exuberance and accessible synth-pop to arrive at a winning combination ... and found a ready-made audience among teenagers who fawned on the band's every move."
It's the 35th anniversary of the greatest Aussie synthpop album of the 80's, Pseudo Echo's masterpiece LOVE AN ADVENTURE. Featuring the hits Don't Go, Living In A Dream and Love An Adventure, this album is pop perfection from beginning to end. Rated OZ Radio with Mary Lou Munroe Rey is back with a lively interview with Pepper Jane! Pepper Jane and her guitar, Maureen, (and sometimes an old lady Gibson) writes a smattering of tunes from “lofty, folky crooning's - through to belted lashings of barely-refined aural cacao-cotton candy”. Pepper has opened shows for Renée Geyer, Jon Stevens, John Paul Young, Pseudo Echo, Deni Hines and Neil Murray. Festivals include Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Fest (Sunshine Coast Hinterland), Cully Fest (Cunnamulla)and Streets and Lanes (Toowoomba), Mount Isa Rodeo and Pepper played with her band at Woodford Folk Festival's Build Launch Party.
