We're back on our normal game this week as David drinks Perennial Intentionally Indulgent and Gary revisits an old favorite in Evan Williams Single Barrel. The 2022 version of Intentionally Indulgent from St. Louis' Perennial Artisan Ales is an Imperial Stout with tiramisu inspired ingredients including vanilla, Sump coffee, and decadent chocolate sauce and brewed in collaboration with 2nd Shift Brewery.Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage from Heaven Hill Distillery is 7-8 years old and comes in at 86 proof. We also discuss the new list of the top 50 craft breweries by volume that was released by the Brewers Association, and this year featured a few surprises. The top five were all the same from last year, but fast-growing non-alcoholic craft brewery Athletic Brewing jumped 14 spots from 27th to 13th. Bell's is no longer ranked after being purchased last year by Lion/Kirin, and Cincinnati's Rhinegiest moved up five spots from 28th to 23rd. Craft beer gained share of the overall beer market from 13.1 to 13.2% but the overall beer market shrank by 3%. There were also 549 new brewery openings and 319 closings. There's also news this week that the bourbon industry could be worth $12.8 billion by 2031, up from $7.8 billion in 2021.And in a story that we discussed just to say the name of the bourbon is that Furman University released their own private label bourbon called FU All The Time.Make sure to visit Beers and Beards Podcast for a full list of our episodes.Use our NEW code “BeersBeards10” for 10% off at Rivalry Brews as well as 10% off at BeardOctane.com with code BeersBeards10.We also have a new sponsor in Athletic Brewing Co., the largest maker of non-alcoholic craft beer. Black wax. Seven to eight year ago statement. A single barrel. This bourbon checks all the boxes for customer approval. The bottle of the week is Even Williams Single Barrel Vintage (EW SiB) bourbon. Does this bourbon preform well with all these boxes checked? Is there a disconnect between the nose and the palette? Following these scents is jury duty, dog doors and a bourbon calendar. -------------------------- Socials IG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupky FB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupky TW: https://twitter.com/themashupky Music: All the Fixings by Zachariah Hickman Thank you so much for listening!

Episode 32: This episode we get together to do our sixth series on 30 bourbons under $30 series. We will sample 4 bourbons under $30 in a blind tasting. The four up this week are. Jim Beam Double Oak, David Nickolson Reserve, Evan Williams Single Barrel, and LongBranch. The winner will move on to the final round. These Bourbons are going to be the best of the under $30 category. We are just making it known and our opinion on what we think are those best bourbons for this price range. We are not saying that they are better than the high priced bourbons. We believe those do have some of the more depth and flavor than some of the cheap bourbons, but these are some of the best in their price range.
MUUUUUURRRRRRPH! Bob and Brad check out their second film from director Christopher Nolan, 2014's Interstellar. This is a film they're highly divided on, and they have no shame in asking the audience to settle the debate. Is this another great entry in Nolan's catalogue, or a ridiculous misfire that stems from a shoddy script? Meanwhile they try the third whiskey in the Evan Williams line, the Single Barrel. Having sampled both the Bottled-in-Bond and 1783 expressions, how will this slightly-higher-priced bottle go over? 0:00 - Intro and Initial Thoughts 27:55 - Evan Williams Single Barrel Review 36:05 - Analysis and Final Thoughts Film & Whiskey Podcast. Dino and his “dive bar” friends, Mike and Larry, extol the joys that life offers up from time to time with some DAY DRINKING. They have a little help from their friend, Evan Williams Single Barrel.
The Boys open the show confounded by how the Brits can't seem to spell. Casey Williams dropped his son off at the mall to “hang out” which inspires a nostalgic trip to the mall from the 90's. Aladdin's Castle, Mrs. Fields, Copeland's Sports, International Imports, and Hot Dog On A Stick are all remembered fondly. Whiskey tasting time! Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 2008 is on the menu today. Remember Dirt clod fights in vacant lots? That's what we need today. The NBA All Star Weekend Slam Dunk contest is broken down. Casey just got a DeLonghi Maestro Super Automatic Espresso Maker that changed his life. Don't tune out because you're going to want to here Steve Ausburne's touching Nike Air Jordan story, as well as a trip down Saturday Morning PSA memory lane. Lawyers are circling around the whisky industry, much like sharks around a shipwreck. At least five different US distillers and bottlers have been hit with class-action lawsuits since last September accusing them of misleading consumers. The litigation largely focuses on whether their whiskies are "hand-made," "small-batch," or claim to come from a small-scale distillery that actually purchases bulk whiskey from larger distillers. This week on WhiskyCast In-Depth, we'll hear from one of the attorneys targeting the whisky industry. Abbas Kazerounian's California law firm specializes in class-action consumer cases, and is currently suing Maker's Mark, Jim Beam, and Tito's Vodka over claims that their products are hand-made. His goal is to get drinks producers to be more honest with consumers, and plans to expand that fight to Scotch Whisky and other spirits as well. Beam Suntory declined to make anyone available to discuss the lawsuits, but company spokesmen have said the lawsuits are without merit. In the news, George Dickel master distiller John Lunn is leaving Diageo for a new opportunity, Brown-Forman plans to turn up the heat on Fireball with its Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire, and two sides are squabbling over the trademark rights to a historic distillery name. This week's tasting notes feature The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve and the Evan Williams Single Barrel 2005 Vintage Bourbon.

Orkney's Scapa Distillery has been relatively quiet since it was acquired by the Chivas Brothers unit of Pernod Ricard in 2005, but that's about to change. Scapa is releasing its first new bottling since the Chivas acquisition -- a 16-year-old malt that's available only in France now, but will be available in many markets early in 2009. Neil Macdonald of Chivas tells us what's been going on behind the scenes at Scapa for the last three years. In the news, the latest Evan Williams Single Barrel is heading to retailers, Old Pulteney is going through renovations, and you could win a bottle of the rare White Bowmore...plus more on the 75th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition!
