Paul Furness is a keyboard player and multi-instrumentalist who serves as a founding member of Brisbane indie rock mainstays Ball Park Music. Since forming the group during a university class assignment in 2008, Paul has spent nearly two decades helping anchor their melodic and eclectic sound, layering essential synthesizer textures, piano, and occasional trombone across eight studio albums. From their acclaimed debut Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs to their latest release Like Love, his meticulous approach to parts and arrangement has been a constant thread in the band’s enduring catalog. We chat with Paul about how a college project evolved into a multi-decade career, his collaborative writing process, and the gear he relies on for the stage and the studio. This week, Pastor Magrey deVega and Mat Hotho wrap up our series on the Lord's Prayer by asking a surprising question: why do we say a final line that doesn't actually appear in scripture? They explore how tradition, worship, and scripture have long been in conversation—shaping how we pray and how we see God. From ancient manuscripts to personal reflections, this episode uncovers the deeper meaning behind “forever and ever, Amen.” Join us as we reflect on what it means to see our everyday lives through the lens of eternity.Find out more at HydeParkUMC.org/NextSteps

This week we conclude our study of Revelation 1 with a look at the aside John gives in Revelation 1:5b-6. He seems to break from his stream of thought to glorify Christ. Read over these passages, when was the last time you were so in awe of, grateful for, filled with wonder at Christ that you couldn't help but stop what you were doing, saying, thinking and glorify Him?

Dr. Mitchell concludes his study in 1st Peter with this lesson. We are looking at 1st Peter 5:8-14. He gives an overview of scriptural teaching about the devil. In this lesson in verse 9, we are told to resist the devil firm in the faith. Dr. Mitchell shares several scriptures on resisting the devil even as our Lord did during His earthly temptation found in Mt.4 and Luke 4. The victory against this adversary is found in the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit. While suffering, our strength is found in the God of all grace. God will be glorified as He has the dominion forever and ever. Amen! Peter writes this epistle testifying that this is the true Grace of God and to stand firm in it. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, 1Pet. 5:8.

Find the nearest brick and drown it slowly because it's time to review Whatever and Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five. That's what that song said, right? This episode features a tune from a godless sodomite.
Listen to the full-length version of this message, or the other messages in this series here: https://www.wisdomonline.org/the-first-hymns-of-heaven. Scripture tells us that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. In Revelation 5:11-14, that is exactly what happens. But it isn't just men and women singing praise to God . . . animals are singing praise as well! This is a worship service you don't want to miss!

Upbeat piano chords, distorted bass guitar and well-crafted harmonies was exactly what I needed when I stumbled upon the trio known as Ben Folds Five in 1995. The 90s music scene was always reminding us to expect the unexpected, and by the time this band hit their sophomore release titled 'Whatever and Ever Amen,' they delivered the perfect blend of humor and heart that created a timeless classic.
On this episode of Classic Catches, we listen to the Ben Folds Five album, "Whatever and Ever Amen". We have a very drastic rating for this album, but who sits on which side? Check it out! Randy Travis sings of a love that is fixed, final, forgiving and forever. The only true love that fits those criteria is God's love.

Our first sermon series of 2023 is coming to a close this week. Over the past six-weeks we have broken down The Lord's Prayer and looked into the meaning of each line/petition. Tune in this week as Pastor Chris Jones shares the message, “For Thine Is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory for Ever. Amen.” Scripture: 1 Chronicles 29:11; Matthew 6:33; 1 Corinthians 1:18; John 21:18-19
Every fan gather round now, while the So So / Cool Five sings you a song. Well… actually we're not singing, so much as bringing you another episode of selfless, cold, and composed musical analysis. And this week we're talking about Ben Folds Five's sophomore 1997 album “Whatever and Ever Amen.” This record was in heavy rotation for all of us in our happy high school days, so join us to see which parts of the album still hold up and which parts fall a bit flat. We talk at length about the band's virtuosic musicianship, lush arrangements, and iconic commitment to fuzz bass. We also break down how the band's songwriting talents led to some great tunes, but left much to be desired on the lyrics front. Plus, you can hear us try to figure out if any of these songs include piano, and Joe makes a startling admission about Girl Scout cookies.Be sure to support the artists by purchasing "Whatever and Ever Amen" on iTunes or wherever you get your music.
