DOCKET ALERTS: Judge Brian Murphy blocked termination of TPS for 5,000 Ethiopians. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin will continue Noem's tradition of announcing his intention to violate the law in advance, so as to give litigants a heads up. Michael Avenatti moves to a halfway house, remains a full-way non-lawyer. And Democrats overperformed in Tuesday's special elections. MAIN SHOW: Crazytimes continue at the DOJ as Trump's goons jockey to replace Pam Bondi. Acting AG Todd Blanche is professing his love for Trump at the podium. US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro can't indict a ham sandwich, and juries are telling her to take a hike. Politico says Harmeet Dhillon, head of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, is in the running for the top job. She's currently trying to indict January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson for perjury — which has exactly nothing to do with civil rights. And Dhillon's office keeps losing when she sues states demanding they turn over their voter rolls. Will Republicans invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office? (No.) But the fact that we're asking the question shows how far we've come. And in Tennessee, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is trying to get his human smuggling case dismissed on grounds of vindictive prosecution. Both the government and Garcia filed their briefs this week. The government claims that prosecution started with an article in the local paper, the Tennessee Star. Which is weird because the case was reopened in Baltimore the week before the article was published — and DHS is actually the source of the reporting! Davenport: New Jersey's Hollow-Point Ammunition Ban Challenged Under Second Amendment A lawsuit in New Jersey challenges the state's prohibition on hollow-point ammunition as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. Plaintiffs argue the ban creates a Catch-22 by allowing only full metal jacket rounds while denying the right to ‘military arms.' The state's motion to dismiss is rebutted, dismissing historical analogies as rooted in racial prejudice. Hawaii Legislature Adjourns Sine Die: Defeat of Anti-Gun Bills HB2062, SB2503, SB2517, SB2575, SB2576, SB2720 The Hawaii State Legislature adjourned sine die on May 8, 2026, resulting in the defeat of several anti-gun bills aimed at expanding red flag laws, funding gun buybacks, elevating penalties, broadening prohibited persons lists, and creating a firearm injury restitution fund. These measures raised due process concerns by potentially suspending Second Amendment rights via civil proceedings and imposing felony penalties without full evidentiary hearings. NRA-ILA credits NRA members and supporters for contacting lawmakers to secure this victory. NBC News Report on Kyle Rittenhouse Spider Bite (Kenosha, Wisconsin Case) NBC News tweeted about Kyle Rittenhouse's hospitalization from a venomous spider bite, framing his 2020 Kenosha, Wisconsin self-defense shootings as ‘opening fire at a 2020 civil rights rally.' The Bearing Arms article criticizes this as biased misrepresentation, omitting the riot context and Rittenhouse's acquittal on self-defense grounds. It argues this exemplifies media disinformation against gun owners and Second Amendment supporters. Mississippi DeSoto County Billboard: ‘Firing Squad Is Legal. Think Twice' A billboard in DeSoto County, Mississippi, next to I-55 warns would-be criminals that ‘Firing Squad Is Legal. Think Twice.' DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton states it promotes aggressive prosecution of violent criminals entering the state. The message emphasizes that Mississippi does not coddle violent crime and firing squad executions are legal there. Harmeet Dhillon: The Term ‘Assault Weapons' Is ‘Just a Made-Up Category' Harmeet Dhillon describes ‘assault weapons' as a made-up category and epithet applied to effective and popular firearms like the AR-15. The term originated from Democrats in the 1990s for a federal ban from 1994 to 2004, which a study found did not reduce gun crime or violence lethality. Discussion references national federal policy and Denver's local ban. United Gun Shop v. Capital One and Melio (Maryland) United Gun Shop, a Maryland FFL gun dealer, filed a lawsuit against Capital One and Melio after being denied access to Capital One's bill-paying service, citing the business as a ‘restricted industry.' Payments worked from December 2024 until March 2025, followed by deplatforming and formal denial in March 2026. The suit invokes President Trump's August 2025 Executive Order ‘Guaranteeing Fair Banking for All Americans,' addressing discrimination against lawful firearm businesses. In her recent profile of Harmeet Dhillon, the assistant attorney general for civil rights at the Department of Justice, The Atlantic's Quinta Jurecic writes, “Dhillon's leadership of the division is both the next step in the natural progression of a career spent needling liberals and a preview of what is to come if she continues to rise within the Justice Department.” But, Jurecic notes, Dhillon may be “at the top of her game, yet her position has never appeared more precarious.”For today's episode, Lawfare Managing Editor Tyler McBrien sits down with Jurecic and Lawfare Senior Editor Anna Bower to talk through the life and times of the Justice Department's current head of the civil rights division. They discuss Dhillon's extensive social media presence, the hallmarks of her tenure at the Justice Department thus far, and why there may be limits to how high she can climb in the MAGA movement. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare. Ken Cuccinelli is the national chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative. He previously was the acting director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Yesterday morning, Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the Department of Justice, said that federal officials discovered tens of thousands of dead people and non-citizens on voter rolls. At the present time, multiple states are being sued by the Trump administration for failing to turn over voter roles to the Department of Justice which is determined to ensure compliance with the National Voter Registration Act, the Help America Vote Act and other laws. Out of 60 million records, they've found at least 350,000 dead people and approximately 25,000 people with no citizenship records. Ken believes that election transparency is the foundation of voter confidence. So review this edition of Crosstalk and find out how Ken views the election landscape and what must be done to protect such transparency and confidence. For example: Most people don't call local voting officials when they move. So as people relocate, do such rolls get automatically "cleaned" or not? Why has there been such a radical turn to the "left" in Virginia? Is there an effort in play in order to gain four more House seats for Democrats? How significant is this to the rest of America? Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger just signed into law a measure that joins the state to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Is this an effort to undermine the electoral college? What is ranked choice voting and does the public really understand it? What is ballot harvesting?

In “2A Tuesday,” host Mark Walters joins the show to break down fast-moving developments in Virginia gun legislation, including proposed amendments to assault weapons and magazine bans pushed by state leadership. Walters discusses legal strategy surrounding potential lawsuits backed by Harmeet Dhillon and the U.S. Department of Justice, arguing that recent federal warnings could set up major Second Amendment litigation. The conversation expands into broader concerns about gun control trends in blue states such as California, New York, Maryland, and Illinois, with Walters claiming coordinated efforts to restrict firearm rights nationwide. He criticizes the pace of judicial review from the U.S. Supreme Court, referencing key cases like Heller and Bruen, and argues that delays in hearing challenges are allowing unconstitutional laws to remain in effect. The segment closes with a larger philosophical debate over self-defense rights, constitutional interpretation, and growing legal conflict between state governments and gun rights advocates. Hour 3 runs from escalating geopolitical tension to domestic economic frustration and constitutional conflict. The show opens with Vice President Vance signaling Iran's options narrowing as U.S. pressure builds around maritime access and oil flow, leading into a heated discussion on gas prices, refinery margins, and whether consumers are being overcharged despite crude fluctuations. The conversation pivots to a broader critique of pricing transparency in energy markets and government influence on supply chains. Later, former Senator John Lamping breaks down school board election fallout, low conservative turnout in April elections, property tax battles, and the political mechanics of ballot initiatives. He also weighs in on Trump's clash with Pope Leo and the broader cultural implications for Catholic and evangelical voters. The hour closes with “2A Tuesday,” featuring Mark Walters, who details fast-moving legal developments in Virginia gun legislation, potential DOJ involvement under Harmeet Dhillon, and a larger constitutional argument over Second Amendment rights, Supreme Court delays, and what he sees as mounting state-level resistance to federal rulings. On today's episode, we discuss a whirlwind of personal milestones, cutting‑edge tech, and fast‑moving political and legal news in Trump's America. James opens by celebrating Dwayne's son earning Eagle Scout, using the ceremony and the demanding 40‑hour leadership project to reflect on perseverance, community service, and why only about 2 out of 100 Scouts ever reach that rank. He and Glenn then gush over Glenn's new Tesla Cybertruck—its camera calibration, tight‑space maneuvering, rear‑wheel steering, smart‑summon “dog whistle” mode, and how quickly it learned James's daily parking spot—while Dwayne notes regulators have closed their probe into low‑speed summon fender‑benders after software updates. The conversation shifts to Washington, where they unpack Steve “Stinky Steve” Bannon's contempt‑of‑Congress conviction likely being vacated, explain the difference between executive privilege and Fifth‑Amendment rights, and dive into a Bush‑appointed judge's injunction against Trump's privately funded 90,000‑square‑foot White House ballroom based on a novel theory that the president is only a “steward” of the mansion. From there, Dwayne and Glenn outline Trump's escalating confrontation with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, the rescue of a downed F‑15 weapons officer using disinformation flights, Gulf‑state pressure to stop Iranian tolls on shipping, and why helium flows through the strait matter for semiconductor production. They close by gaming out the 2026 midterms, arguing Trump's string of wins—from foreign‑policy optics to Artemis and Easter‑egg‑roll PR to aggressive moves on birthright citizenship and election integrity—combined with a deep bench of potential hard‑charging attorneys general like Pam Bondi, Harmeet Dhillon, Ron DeSantis, and Trump's own former personal lawyer, could set up both massive legal reckonings for the “blob” and a red electoral wave if security, borders, and voting rules break his way. Don't miss it!
The US Military is the greatest in the world. The United States successfully rescued the second American pilot of the downed F-15 in Iran. The visas of several relatives of brutal Iranian Regime officials have been revoked by the US State Dept. An illegal alien is accused of killing a pregnant teen in Ohio during a high speed chase. ICE is conducting worksite raids to continue with mass deportations. Harmeet Dhillon is reportedly getting a promotion at the DOJ, but it is not for AG. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Birthright Citizenship Scam Clay Travis and Buck Sexton discuss President Trump’s national address on Iran. They highlight Trump’s assertion that the military campaign has been highly successful and that Iran will never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. They focus on Trump’s most consequential comment: a two‑to‑three‑week timeline for intensified strikes, paired with ongoing negotiations. The hosts analyze the strategy as classic Trump-style pressure—applying overwhelming force while leaving room for a deal—and predict the conflict will be resolved by early May. They also discuss market reactions, particularly energy prices, predicting oil volatility will calm as shipping lanes stabilize. They also discuss the Supreme Court and the birthright citizenship case, with intense criticism directed at Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson following her questions during oral arguments. Clay and Buck play and analyze a clip in which Jackson compares birthright citizenship to criminal jurisdiction while traveling abroad, calling the analogy legally incoherent and emblematic of deeper concerns about preparation, competence, and judicial philosophy. The hosts argue that Supreme Court justices should represent the very top of the legal profession, and they denounce what they describe as ideological appointment criteria under former President Joe Biden. Buck expands the critique into a broader examination of elite legal education, affirmative action, and merit, contrasting Jackson with Justice Clarence Thomas, whom they praise as a historically significant legal thinker. Both hosts stress that their objections are not personal but institutional, warning that lifetime appointments at the Supreme Court have consequences measured in decades. They argue that poorly reasoned questions and factual errors undermine public trust and diminish the gravity of the Court’s role as the final arbiter of constitutional law. AG Pam Bondi Out Attorney General Pam Bondi has officially been removed from her role by President Donald Trump, following a turbulent stretch marked by the mismanaged “Epstein Files” release and heightened criticism from inside the MAGA base. Clay Travis and Buck Sexton revisit why Bondi’s tenure drew frustration from Trump supporters rather than Democrats, pushing back on a listener claim that her removal was a “scalp” handed to the left. They argue that Bondi’s exit reflects Trump’s effort to tighten his administration ahead of Senate confirmation battles and the rapidly approaching midterms—framing the transition as strategic, not reactive. Clay and Buck detail the emerging shortlist of possible replacements, including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, widely rumored as the frontrunner. They also explore alternative names that could instantly stabilize the DOJ and navigate Senate confirmation with ease, such as Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Harmeet Dhillon, and interim Deputy AG Todd Blanche. They analyze the political calculus required for each option—particularly red‑state Senate seats that governors could safely fill—and even speculate on whether the Attorney General role could be used as a power‑balancing move in internal Republican conflicts, such as the GOP civil war unfolding in Texas. Throughout the discussion, they emphasize that Trump is not “panicking” but rather strengthening his cabinet while timing and Senate control still allow significant personnel changes. Hollywood Freefall Legal strategist Katie Zachariah weighs in on the removal of former Attorney General Pam Bondi and the question of who should be President Donald Trump’s next pick to lead the DOJ. Zachariah strongly backs Todd Blanche, praising his loyalty to Trump during the post‑presidency legal battles and arguing that his willingness to risk his career for the president proves he has the toughness and credibility required for the role. The discussion broadens into California Democratic politics, particularly speculation that the DOJ leadership change could expose renewed scrutiny of Congressman Eric Swalwell, including past allegations connected to a Chinese spy and questions about his residency. Zachariah argues that the Democratic Party lacks a deep bench in California, suggesting candidates like Swalwell and Katie Porter reflect broader party weakness as the state faces fiscal decline, population loss, and policy failure. Clay and Buck sharply criticize the idea of Swalwell as a potential governor, framing California as a case study in one‑party rule and systemic dysfunction. Yes, We Talk to Democrats Too An interview with retired Brigadier General Shawn Harris, a Democrat running in the special election for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. Harris, a 40‑year military veteran and former senior defense official in Israel, presents himself as a “moderate Democrat” heavily recruited by Republicans in his rural district. Buck presses him on why he is running as a Democrat given his policy alignment on major issues, including border security, ICE enforcement, gender in sports, and foreign policy. Harris repeatedly emphasizes that he supports Trump’s border policies, believes the southern border must remain closed, and insists men should compete only in men’s sports—a position at odds with mainstream Democratic leadership. He explains that his campaign is focused on “kitchen‑table” issues, job creation, and restoring representation for rural communities neglected by Washington. The conversation turns geopolitical as Clay and Buck ask Harris, given his national security background, whether he would support Trump’s military actions against Iran. Harris argues that Congress must be fully briefed at the top‑secret level before authorizing force, emphasizing lessons learned from past “forever wars.” He stresses the importance of having clear entry and exit strategies and warns that the United States could “win militarily but lose politically” if leaders fail to communicate objectives to the American public. The wide‑ranging interview also touches on internal Democratic politics, including whether Harris would vote for Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker. He declines to commit, insisting his allegiance is to rural Georgia rather than any party leader. Harris admits he voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 but says he will support Trump’s policies when they are correct—arguing that Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent positions have moved closer to his, not the other way around. He closes with an ambitious vision for bringing “generational jobs” tied to aerospace and future moon‑to‑Mars projects into Northwest Georgia. SEASON 4 EPISODE 60: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: Arizona Senate Republicans just introduced a measure to make ICE MANDATORY at polling places this November. Mandatory. At voting booths. This November. No - It won’t pass. This time. But this does dispel any MAGA crap that this isn't the goal, that rounding up immigrants isn't just practice. Happily, DHS and MAGA are too busy purging themselves. Maybe just as importantly: Does Trump look drawn and unnaturally thin in the face? Like, lost a lot of girth in the face - the kind of thing where people who don’t know say “you’ve lost a lot of weight, you look great” – except you don’t? Also he has just confused Harmeet Dhillon for Phyllis Diller. Standard stuff. But he made a different gaffe that you just can’t write off because it’s new. It’s not something stupid – it’s something he’s misplaced, mentally. The one Trump blunder that suggests he’s getting WORSE: The Penn Station post. AND HOW THE DEATH OF ROBERT DUVALL mainlines into the death of CBS News and the prophesy of Duvall's most important film: Network. Which you should go watch, today. B-Block (50:00) PART TWO of my list of the nearly two dozen destructive changes we are now suffering from, in television news and media in general, that we were warned by, by Paddy Chayefsky, by Peter Finch, Faye Dunaway, Robert Duvall, and director Sidney Lumet. C-Block (1:10:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: A little out of order, but still really good. Tom Emmer, Minnesota moron. Peter Navarro, economic consultant who doesn't know the Dow Jones number isn't in dollars. And the joy of Candace Owens, so lost she can't pronounce ordinary American English words like "Bureau" and "Grandiose" and as chronicled by one of the best of all Twitter-X follows: @CandaceReading1See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Host John Solomon discusses the alarming findings surrounding illegal aliens on voter rolls and potential foreign intrusions in our elections, including Iranian and possible Chinese interference. With the FBI's recent raid on a Fulton County warehouse storing 2020 election ballots, Solomon underscores the significance of these events and the implications for future elections.Joining the conversation is Harmeet Dhillon, the Justice Department's point person on voting, who shares her insights on the ongoing prosecutions related to election integrity. Christian Adams, a former chief of the Justice Department's Voting Rights Division, who gained national attention for exposing voter intimidation tactics in 2008. Adams discusses the historical context of voting rights and the current state of election integrity efforts, emphasizing the need to uphold the very laws that were fought for during the civil rights movement. As the episode unfolds, listeners will hear from David Shafer, the former chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, who provides an update on the aftermath of the FBI's raid and the ongoing litigation regarding the preservation of ballots. Shafer highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the electoral process.Solomon also touches on recent headlines, including the fallout from a whistleblower complaint against Tulsi Gabbard and the ongoing dynamics surrounding Bill and Hillary Clinton's testimony in Congress. President Trump is making all the moves necessary to save Western civilization. Glenn explains that while Trump's foreign policies may look crazy, they are precisely what is required. Author of the upcoming book “The Invisible Coup” Peter Schweizer joins to discuss the enemies within our own country who are striving to cause violence between Americans. Glenn and Peter discuss the weaponization of immigration and the issues that arise when immigration goes unchecked. Allie sits down with Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, for a powerful, no-holds-barred conversation on the radical transformation of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division. Dhillon reveals how the division is now enforcing civil rights laws for all Americans — not just select groups — dismantling DEI discrimination, investigating attacks on houses of worship, defending religious liberty in prisons, protecting girls' sports under Title IX, and challenging states defying federal law on voting integrity and more. From reversing Biden-era weaponization to opening probes into anti-Christian and anti-Jewish bias, she explains the shift from activist lawfare to impartial justice. At the heart of the federal DEI machine is the doctrine of "disparate impact." Now, the Trump DOJ is moving rapidly to rip that doctrine to shreds. If they succeed, it will have a transformative effect on the whole country. The DOJ's civil rights chief Harmeet Dhillon explains why her move is so crucial and long-overdue, and the show reacts to Trump's 2024-style rally in Pennsylvania.
