Oh the 80s. When the ghetto blasters were loud and white people wanted to control everything. Wait…..is it the same now…..i dunno. We are joined by Mike Maryman of Evil Episodes, Rad Radio and Theme Warriors Podcasts to discuss three films where this runs rampant. When someone is tearing down slums to make fancy apartments, it unleashes a beast that terrorize New Yorkers and make Edward James Olmos run nude with animalistic delight. All this and spirit animal cams in Wolfen. Next, when people start to turn up missing, it’s up to hobo advocates Daniel Stern and John Heard to get to bottom of it and avoid New York’s little mutant problem in 1984’s C.H.U.D. Finally, when one of Detroit’s finest gets brutally shot and left nearly dead, super land developer’s OCP adds some upgrades and turns Alex Murphy into super street soldier and unfortunately company property. All this and stair hating super bots in Paul Veerhoven’s satiristic bloody action opus Robocop from 1987.

We’re back and we’re bad. Well the movies are. Or are they? I am sans Jamie and X but I got Mike Maryman from Theme Warriors, Evil Episodes and the brand new Rad Radio with our picks for the second edition of So Bad It’s Good. Mike chose castaways and mad scientists for his choice. When their hot air balloon crashes on a remote island, the survivors are met by strange doctors, oddly clothed henchmen and scandily clad ladies! All this and bad white guy karate in Frankenstein Island. Then, what do you get when you mix cross dressing scouts, cocaine, bad puns, Corey Feldman, a mime and weird dog innuendo? You get one of the best Lethal Weapon homages ever in Loaded Weapon 1!
Welcome to the world of card sharks. Where the stakes are high and the women are beauties. We are joined by Brian M. Sammons of Evil Episodes, Dark Regions Radio and ABCs of Hidden Horror podcasts for three films about the perils of gambling. We cover Steve McQueen with an all star cast in The Cincinnati Kid, Robert Mitchum and Dean Martin fighting to unravel a who done it in Five Card Stud and Matt Damon fights addiction and his ability to save his friend in Rounders.
The Bring Your Own Cinematic Trauma series continues with A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors. Mike from Evil Episodes and Theme Warriors makes a triumphant return to discuss the pivotal turning point in his cinematic history that defined him both as a horror fan and as a self described “Nightmare on Elm Street Apologist” The episode itself runs a little long and the discussion veered to multiple franchises and histories of how each were viewed by all three of the boys. Given that this is more of a transformative experience than a trauma perhaps a new series is in order. Welcome to a brand new episode of Hero Hero Ghost Show! This episode, we’re exploring the twisted (heh!) mind of Junki Ito and the film adaptation of Uzumaki. Joined by Brian Sammons, expert editor and co-host of Evil Episodes and The ABCs of Hidden Horror, we dive into the weird world of a spiral-afflicted village. Buckle yourself in for spiral puns, Yeats quotes and speculation on human snail behavior. Also, a look at the roots of the term manga and our very first listener email! Big thanks to Brian Sammons again for coming on and, of course, Lovecraft comparisons abound. Welcome to Episode 3 of Hero Hero Ghost Show! This time around, we’re talking Ryuhei Kitamura’s chanbara-inspired bouillabaisse of weirdness, Versus. Is this the perfect introductory film to Japanese horror? What’s with the kicking guy? Is our lead character as feminist as he claims to be? Also, we talk the origins of the film and why it’s kitchen sink approach to filmmaking may work in its favor! Big thanks to Mike Maryman and be sure to check out Mike and the rest of the gang at Evil Episodes! You can see Kitamura’s short film upon which Versus is based here. If there’s a movie you’d like to hear us discuss, drop us a line here. Join us for more talk about Asian horror at www.facebook.com/groups/HeroHeroGhostShow Thanks for listening! Do you like all the majesty of going to the cinema but dont like getting mutilated by high prices and raving maniacs? Then you’ll hate these films. We’re doing three films where people are terrorized in and out of the theater. First up, when folks are invited to a sneak preview, they get more than a free ticket when they have to fend off a legion of demons in Demons from 1985. Next, when film students decide to put on a horror a thon, a mysterious killer starts to pick them off one by one so he can finish his owm movie. All this and wheelchair electricution in Popcorn from 1991. John Goodman gets to play makeshift William Castle when he brings his new monster movie to Key West during that whole Cuban Missile Crisis thing. Scumbag poets and puns run rampant in Joe Dante’s Matinee from 1993. We are joined by author/editor Brian M. Sammons of the ABCs of Hidden Horror, Evil Episodes and Dark Regions Radio Podcasts.
