Listeners of The After Movie Diner Podcast that love the show mention:The After Movie Diner Podcast is a highly entertaining and unique movie podcast hosted by Jon Cross. This podcast stands out from the crowd with its witty banter, humorous skits, and in-depth film discussions. Whether it's discussing obscure B movies or analyzing recognized classics, Jon and his guests bring a fresh perspective to each episode.
One of the best aspects of The After Movie Diner Podcast is its open-mindedness towards all types of films. From big-budget releases to low-budget independents, no film is off-limits for discussion. This allows for a diverse range of topics and keeps the podcast engaging for listeners with different tastes in movies. Additionally, the structure and editing of the episodes are top-notch. The inclusion of original musical numbers, audio from trailers, and songs featured in the films being discussed adds an extra layer of entertainment value.
However, one downside to this podcast can be the length of some episodes. While the content is consistently enjoyable, episodes can sometimes run quite long, making it difficult for listeners with limited time to fully engage with each episode. Additionally, the humor and style may not be everyone's cup of tea. The comedic banter can be over-the-top at times, which may not appeal to all listeners.
In conclusion, The After Movie Diner Podcast is a must-listen for movie enthusiasts looking for an entertaining and unique take on film reviews and discussions. Jon Cross brings a passion for cinema that shines through in each episode, making it a joy to listen to. Despite some minor flaws like episode length and personal preference for humor style, this podcast remains highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and informative movie podcast experience.

This week we are joined by Dr. Action himself, Doc Paul Crowson but rather than talking explosions and round house kicks, we are traveling back to the heady, indie waters of the early 90s when everyone wanted on the Tarantino, Soderbergh, Linklater, Smith boat - even documentary filmmaker, Philip Haas who decided to adapt Paul Auster's The Music of Chance into a fascinating two hander between Sleazy Spader and Mandy Patinkin, supported by a who's who of indie darling character actor favourites. We talk the film, take a trip to the sleazetorium and find out about a very special charity that Spader runs...SUPPORT INDIE CREATIVES Subscribe and/or leave us a rating and review wherever you get your podcasts - Our show is on all platforms, take a look!CONTACT US and give us feedback at aftermoviediner@gmail.com, Call us on 347 669 0053 or leave us a voicemail from your computer at www.speakpipe.com/aftermoviediner

On what could absolutely, very probably, be the last ever episode of The After Movie Diner, we go out with the very suitable subject matter of a Donald Pleasence double bill - We talk The Uncanny from 1977, which has the preposterous task of making a bunch of house cats seem scary and The House of Usher from 1989 which looks like it was shot on a cheap, local, theatre stage covered in polystyrene and crap Halloween decorations. It's a fun conversation, in an actual diner (for the first time in 2 1/2 years), with our long suffering regular co-host, Jim Wallace. So here it is. We almost thought it would never happen. The New York Dohlerites are back together again talking about Crawler, the last ever Don Dohler written, produced and shot movie. 15 years in the making but here thanks to our old friends Robert Long and Mitch Klein. It's Don's last collaboration with Director Joe Ripple. The film that brought together the cast from Dohler's original movies and his later Timewarp casts. It perfectly bookends his beloved B Movie career and I was so happy to get Dr. Nick Consol back on the show to talk about Crawler and I even managed a surprise Phil Rowan appearance! We last covered Don's films 10 years ago so it also feels fitting with our recent anniversary to be back chatting the Baltimore king of the Bs. On this episode we explore the best laid plans of podcasters can be tricky waters in Hollywood these days but can also, if said podcasters are flexible of spirit (rather than flexible of spine or limb), lead to even more interesting discussions about disappointment, indie horror directors trying to go mainstream, what are you able to do on a budget when you've got the skills and how a seemingly popcorn Western from the mid-90s is actually a dark and clever parable for our times. All this and more as Jon Cross and Jim Wallace (your stalwart Diner based guides to all things movie) talk about Neil Marshall's The Reckoning, popular indie horror The Void and re-evaluate Sam Raimi's The Quick and the Dead! This week we are back with banter, Robin Doyle's Postcards from The Shedge (or Shednannigans), a comment from Adolf Nipple, Statham impressions, an in-depth chat about what was and what could've been "Wrath of Man" and then round it out with a discussion about what Guy Ritchie considers banter. So this episode is bookended by banter. Rather perfect really.Enjoy!
The boys are back in town! We go over the good news, the bad news, the reigniting of Jon's interest in modern horror films, the checking of yourself as you become middle aged so you don't BECOME middle aged (if you know what I mean) and we apologise profusely to Andy Lunn.We also talk the Netflix original, Stephen King adaptation, 1922 starring Thomas Jane. Something cobbled together this way comes! So it's been a minute since we did our last show and despite trying, with the best will in the world, to record a couple of episodes in the passing weeks, what we have here is a hastily cobbled together episode from two recordings that were mired by technical issues and tired, grumpy hosts.Anyway, hopefully our Nic Cage theories and antics, a healthy dollop of shed chat and a slice of Splang! (my new album) will see you through till our new episode drops in the next week or two.ENJOY!
When you get to episode 337 trying to write anything in this space that any of you care about becomes a real struggle. On this episode Jim Wallace implausibly manages to get Jon Cross to watch and talk about (at length) the low budget Bruce Willis, Sci-Fi movie Breach directed by someone very lazy who once made a Dove commercial.
Another episode and another episode description you won't read.Unbelievably this is NOT a podcast about sheds. Jon Cross and Jim Wallace talk about Alex Cox's debut movie Repo Man. Enjoy
On this episode we talk our wonderful shed based listeners, give away mugs, talk about the new Miscellaneous Plumbing Fixtures album "I've Been There", try and figure out why we don't talk about John Carpenter films that often, when he's one of my favourite directors and then get into all things Christine. We talk about Stephen King's reaction to the film, John Carpenter's style, the special effects and so much more.
In this episode, where our hosts, Jon Cross and Jim Wallace do not take all the cocaine but know a particular well known horror author and one time film director who did - we talk about the absurd mess of a movie that is Maximum Overdrive, a film that it is impossible not to take some issue with and yet I am so very happy it exists. We discuss North Carolina, starting your own cult, beardy wisdoms, the Estevez-Guttenberg line, Stephen King, so much cocaine, drunk aliens, ACDC, George Romero and much, much more.
Our token Massachusetts bro, Scott Toomey and my dear wife, Kimberly Cross join me to talk all about Beautiful Girls for its 25th Anniversary. We talk favourite scenes, favourite characters, the battle of the sexes, the battle of the leading men and much more. It's the show everyone waits for every year - it's our annual New Year's special. This time we're down to just Doc, Moe and myself as we discuss four weird and wild Christopher Walken movies:The Eternal,The Prophecy,The King of New York &Communion. There's all the usual banter and shenanigans along with talk of Irish accents, hair, cows, the old soft shoe, gingers, starring with Nicolas Cage in a Kramer Vs Kramer meets Rat Race type movie, a sequel to Fitzcarraldo and much much more.
The After Movie Diner starts its perilous journey chronologically backwards through outrageously bad Eric Idle films bravely going where no other podcast thought it was at all reasonable or normal to go. This is the zenith of me getting some weird thrill out of being so "against the flow" that I torpedo my own show to cover obscure and unpleasant films featuring former Monty Python nudge nudger and Rutle, Eric Idle.To start of this catalogue of cringe and season of shite, we dive head first into the mire of madness that is Joe Eszterhas' unforgivably racist and sexist laugh vacuum An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn which stars a bunch of people who should be so ashamed of themselves, they should probably be publicly pelted with fruit: Sylvester Stallone, Whoopi Goldberg, Jackie Chan, Ryan O'Neal, Coolio, Sandra Bernhard, Chuck D and more!ENJOY!!
This week, for the last of our Donald Pleasence films, we look at the under seen British class comedy, A Dirty Knight's Work - a bizarre but thoroughly English film about a bunch of wannabe toffs taking their dress up games a little too seriously. As the movie also stars Barbara Hershey, the conversation naturally turns to Splitting Heirs and Eric idle and a decision is made by your valiant hosts that may or may not end the podcast for good!

For the third movie of our Pleasencing Season we discuss the bizarre New Zealand romp, Race for the Yankee Zephyr AKA Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr, which is full of mad hats, weird stunts, silly accents and bonkers plot decisions where a drunken Donald Pleasence goes head to head with an outrageously camp George Peppard.
For our second dip into the pool of the Pleasence, as it's the season, we talk Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers!
