Plus, I get into all of the financial benefits of driving an EV including state rebates, free charging, cheap electricity and special ways to save you time during rush hour. We discuss Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Ioniq, Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S, Tesla Roadster, Chevy Bolt, Chevy Volt, BMW i3, Ford C-Max, SDG&E, EVgo, ElectrifyAmerica, ChargePoint, EVConnect. Closing Quote: I really do encourage other manufacturers to bring electric cars to market. It's a good thing, and they need to bring it to market and keep iterating and improving and make better and better electric cars, and that's what going to result in humanity achieving a sustainable transport future. I wish it was growing faster than it is. – Elon Musk #JohnRileyProject #ElectricVehicles #TriggerEnergy JRP0193 Referenced Links: Trigger Energy: https://triggerenergy.com/ John Riley Project Info: Bookings? Today's episode is the first one that has two guests. Raja, who owns a Ford C-Max plugin and the 1 million hybrid mile Jesse from the state of Massachusetts. This is my first attempt at a podcast. iPhone 6 (in 2020 mind you), Studio 2013 Ford C-Max (to date the best vehicle I’ve ever owned), recorded during my commute from Humble, TX to S Post Oak and Orem. Shout out to Jason Kucera for the inspiration and the rough format for a solo effort.
We've finished testing our 2018 Mazda6. We discuss our final impressions on the midsized sedan and where we think it stacks up against its competitors. We answer a number of audience questions this week, including one about our best advice when negotiating the price of a car with a dealership. We also talk about the Subaru Ascent recall, and remind Volkswagen diesel owners that time is running out to file a claim for settlement compensation. ----------------------------------- Subscribe to Talking Cars on Apple Podcasts!

Just as you could get the Ford Model T in any color, as long as it was black, when the company brought the C-MAX stateside, it declared you could get any powertrain, as long as it was a hybrid. This week the C-MAX Energi rolls into the Autoline studio with John Davis, Chief Program Engineer, in tow. We'll be asking him all about the car and about what challenges Ford faces in trying to sell a plug-in. We'll also want to know why the C-MAX struggles, in testing, to meet the fuel economy ratings on the EPA label. And, yes, we will also get to the top news of the week. GM earnings are disappointing; 2013 just may be the year of the diesel as Ram and Subaru both announce new entries; and Federal Mogul says goodbye to spark plugs while Chevrolet says hello to shape memory alloys. Joining John McElroy in studio to talk about all that and much more, is Peter De Lorenzo, the Autoextremist, and Todd Lassa from Automobile.
It's award time again and it starts with the finalists for the North American Truck of the Year. John McElroy is joined by two fellow jurors from the North American Car and Truck of the Year jury to review the top three finalists and make their predictions for this year's winner. John welcomes Michelle Krebs from Edmunds.com and Tony Swan from Car and Driver and Kelly Blue Book.

General Electric announced it will buy 2,000 Ford C-MAX plug-in hybrids for its fleet, see what Ford is willing to do in exchange. BMW will show off a plug-in hybrid at the L.A. Auto Show next week. Nissan released an upgraded version of the LEAF in Tokyo today with changes based on feedback from owners. All that and more, plus John responds to your questions and comments in "You Said It!"
David Strickland, the head of NHTSA, says companies developing in-car applications must not sacrifice safety for entertainment. Volvo is developing technology to avoid crashes with animals that will be ready for market in the next few years. Ford is only going to sell hybrid versions of the C-Max in the American market and it will only sell the two-row version, not the Grand C-Max version with three rows. All that and more, plus find out who John thinks will be the next CEO of Ford in the Race to Replace Mulally.

The US Environmental Protection Agency took a step closer to approving E-15, but so far it's limiting that approval to cars built since 2007. The Chinese government confiscated seven of BYD’s factories saying it built them on land that was zoned for agriculture. Researchers successfully hacked into a car by intercepting wireless tire-pressure monitoring signals. All that and more, plus John answer's your questions about the Chevy Volt and the Ford C-Max in "You Said It!"
