Shoot us a Text.Episode #1290: Guest host Jamie Butters joins as we cover New-vehicle inventory hits 3 million units but slower sales are aging the lot. Honda begins importing cars from four countries. And a startup will pay you $800 to spend a day bullying AI chatbots.U.S. new-vehicle inventory climbed to 3.02 million units in February—a 75-day supply heading into spring—but a slower selling rate is doing more work than the numbers suggest.Total inventory is nearly identical to a year ago, but days' supply jumped 10 days year-over-year as vehicles are simply taking longer to move off lots.Mid-range vehicles ($30K–$50K) are sitting an average of 73 days; luxury units above $80K are aging even slower at 80 days on lot.EV supply dropped sharply to 109 days from 132 the prior month; hybrids fell to 61 days; and ICE vehicles came in at 75 days—all trending in the right direction.Sedans remain the leanest segment at 60 days, while pickups and SUVs are hovering around 75–76 days.Toyota continues to run the tightest ship in the industry at just 27 days' supply—the only major automaker under 40 days.Honda has a brand problem in Japan—and its solution is becoming one of the country's biggest auto importers, shipping in vehicles from the U.S., China, Thailand, and India to win back buyers it lost chasing minicars.Honda went all-in on domestic minicars like the N-Box, which became Japan's top-selling minicar—but left buyers wanting larger Honda nameplates like the Accord, Odyssey, and CR-V that the company had quietly stopped making at home.To course correct, Honda is importing four new nameplates this year: the Acura Integra Type S and Honda Passport from the U.S., a new electric Insight from China, and the CR-V from Thailand. The U.S.-built models will ship in left-hand drive despite Japan's right-hand-drive norm, limiting their volume—but the move is more about brand signal than scale.Honda is now Japan's third-largest importer behind only Mercedes-Benz and Suzuki—a stunning reversal for a brand that imported just 39 vehicles into Japan as recently as 2015.A startup is paying $800 to hire a Professional AI Bully — no tech skills required, just a long memory for every time an AI forgot yours. The gig pays $100/hour for an 8-hour shift spent stress-testing the memory of popular AI chatbots — asking them to remember things, seeing what they forget, and documenting the frustration. The company behind it, Memvid, builds AI memory tools and says the stunt is designed to make a real problem visible: "People constantly have to repeat themselves to chatbots."No degree, no experience, no special skills needed — just an "extensive personal history of being let down by technology" and enough patience to ask the same question twice.Today's show is brought to you by iPacket Value. Welcome to another wildly unpredictable hour of The Other Side of Midnight with Lionel. In this episode, Lionel dives deep into the psychology of fear, questioning why adults willingly terrify themselves with horror classics like Dracula and The Exorcist. Things get weird when caller Toni reveals her bizarre Florida living situation: since bear spray is illegal, she deals with a garbage-eating black bear named "Teddy". The show then takes a hard left turn into the terrifying rise of Artificial Intelligence. Lionel sounds the alarm on AI-generated journalism, questions whether President Biden is using an "auto-pen" to forge legislation, and marvels at a new Chinese electric hypercar that literally uses a sofa for a cockpit. Throw in some incredibly chaotic listener calls—including a self-proclaimed male prostitute driving with his hazard lights on to avoid AI spies, and a supposed hostage situation involving a merchant seaman—and you've got a classic, unfiltered hour of late-night radio. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1270: Ford floats ideas to counter China's EV push, Detroit rethinks sedans as affordability pressures rise and Amazon proves even tech giants can't crack physical retail that easily. As Chinese automakers creep closer to U.S. soil, Ford CEO Jim Farley reportedly discussed a framework that would allow Chinese brands to build cars in America—through U.S.-controlled joint ventures. The idea? Compete without getting steamrolled.Farley discussed U.S.-majority joint ventures with Trump cabinet officials at the Detroit Auto Show. The structure would allow Chinese automakers to build in the U.S., sharing profits and tech with American partners.Trump recently said he'd be open to Chinese companies building plants and hiring Americans.GM opposes any Chinese entry, warning of lost market share and supplier disruption.New polling from the north shows that Canadian sentiment toward Chinese-built EVs has shifted sharply: 53% now say it wouldn't affect their purchase decision and 15% say they'd be more likely to buy—compared to 2024 when 61% said they were less likely to consider one. After years of betting big on SUVs and trucks, Detroit may be eyeing a return to sedans as affordability pressures mount.GM, Ford and Stellantis are all exploring affordable sedan options, including hybrids priced under $30,000.Passenger cars now make up just 18% of U.S. sales, down from 50% fifteen years agoAs Detroit exited sedans, Toyota's share of the U.S. sedan market jumped from 12% to 22%Dealers say losing sedans cost them entry-level buyers who later would've traded up to higher-margin SUVs and trucks.“If somebody could build an affordable sedan, it would sell,” said dealer Adam Lee. “We have made these cars so expensive that nobody can afford them.”Amazon is shutting down its Amazon Go and Fresh stores, admitting it couldn't crack the economics of brick-and-mortar grocery. Despite world-class logistics and tech, the company discovered what operators already know: physical retail is a grind.Amazon will close Go and Fresh locations after failing to build a scalable, profitable grocery model.Grocery is attractive because it's high-frequency and data-rich—fuel for Amazon's $21B ad business, but shoppers prioritize price, value, and location over tech like “Just Walk Out.”“Physical grocery is just brutally operational,” said Professor Andy Tsay, calling the margins “thin and unforgiving.”Today's show is brought to you by ESi-Q. In this episode of America on the Road, host Jack Nerad and co-host Chris Teague discuss the latest automotive news, including new tax breaks for car buyers, challenges faced by important global automakers, and exciting new vehicle releases from GMC and Mercedes-Benz. They also provide in-depth reviews of the 2025 Kia K4 sedan and the 2025 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance, highlighting their features and performance. In this week's road test segment, host Jack Nerad discovers the 2025 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance to be a breath of fresh air in today's highly homogenized and shrinking sedan market. With a 472-horsepower naturally aspirated V8 under its hood, this unassumingly styled rear-wheel-drive sedan blends old-school performance with modern tech and refinement. Aggressively tuned for back-road thrills yet wrapped in a sleek, understated four-door package, the IS 500 offers a visceral experience, enhanced by high-end features like heated/ventilated sport seats, a Mark Levinson sound system, and a refined tech suite. And you'll never guess the cars Jack Nerad compares it to. Also in the spotlight this week is Chris Teague's test of the all-new 2025 Kia K4, a compact sedan aiming to shake up the segment with bold styling and surprising tech. Replacing the outgoing and under-rated Forte, the K4 pulls into the lot with a surprisingly upscale interior, available turbocharged power, and Kia's latest infotainment platform. Chris dives into how it drives, how it stacks up against rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, and whether Kia has another budget-friendly hit on its hands. This episode's special guest is Anthony Monaco, marketing lead for Ram heavy-duty trucks. Monaco joins the show to discuss exciting and affordable new product updates from Ram, shedding light on where the brand is heading and what consumers can expect from the latest heavy-duty lineup. In the news, a sweeping new federal tax deduction could shake up the auto financing world. Under the “Big, Beautiful Bill” signed by President Trump, qualifying buyers can now deduct up to $10,000 in interest on loans for U.S.-assembled vehicles. The catch? Income caps apply, leases are excluded, and not every car will qualify. The IRS will release a list of eligible models, and VIN documentation will be required. Is it a good idea? We'll have details. Meanwhile, three major global automakers—Stellantis, Porsche, and Jaguar Land Rover—are navigating rocky terrain. Stellantis reported a staggering $2.7 billion loss, tied to new tariffs and slumping sales, while Porsche is slashing costs amid weakening EV demand. JLR, reeling from a 15% sales dip and delayed EV rollouts, is trimming jobs and recalibrating its strategy. Two big product debuts also made headlines. GMC launched the 2026 Acadia Denali Ultimate, pushing deeper into luxury with full-leather interiors, Super Cruise hands-free driving, and a 16-speaker Bose system. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz revealed its next-gen CLA, available first in battery-electric and then hybrid form. The EV variant boasts nearly 500 miles of range and impresively fast charging, while the hybrids promise efficiency and flexibility for mainstream buyers. This episode also highlights the America on the Road Made in America Tour, which showcases vehicles and other products built in the U.S., tying in with new buyer incentives and celebrating American ingenuity and homegrown manufacturing. We close the show with a listener question from Mitchell in Boulder, Colorado, who says, “I want to buy a new car, but I need some help in making the deal. How much should I negotiate off the MSRP on a new car?” Jack and Chris share advice on negotiation strategy, dealer incentives, and the current state of new car pricing. The Toyota Camry has been around a long time - a medium sedan that justseems to get more refined with each new model – built locally from 1987 to2017, imported since and fully hybrid since late last year like the rest ofToyota’s passenger car range. The current three model Camry sedan rangeconsists of the Ascent, Ascent Sport and SL models prices starting at$39,990 plus on road costs and running to $53,990. I tested the AscentSport $42,990. And what an exceptional car this is – frankly having notdriven a Camry for some time I came away impressed with its refinement. Before I get into the performance, the build quality, styling elements anmaterial inside of this medium sized sedan felt more like Toyota’s luxurybrand Lexus. Sedans may not be in vogue, SUV’s, last month reaching 60.5per cent of total new car sales, however the Camry Ascent Sport at $42,990is outstanding value – there’s a lot of equipment for that money, the interiorclassy and roomy with a restyled dash and centre console while overallToyota’s fifth generation hybrid system is quieter, smoother, more fuelefficient in a body that now has real character.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Driving Honda's new hybrid sedan, the 11 th generation e-HEV RS at $64,900 drive-away. A premium sedan with an interesting hybrid system that it is very fuelefficient – combining a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol enginewith two electric motors mounted side-by-side – the electric motors do most ofthe work while the petrol engine constantly charges the battery but under heavierdriving load can also power the front wheels. It's a clever hybrid system thatworks just so well, switching between electric, hybrid or petrol engine modeseamlessly while there are six levels of deacceleration available, activated bysteering wheel mounted paddles, which dictate different levels of regenerativecharging. In my week of driving the new Honda Accord hybrid never looked likerunning out of electric charge. With the RS tag suggesting a sportier image ithandles sharply and has four available drive modes. It can feel a little harsh on arough surface but as a rule is comfortable aided by very well-padded seats.Sedans may not be in vogue these days, but the Accord is still a big seller in theU.S. and as such its styling and features are very much skewed that way. Overall, though, a very interesting and efficient hybrid addition. I'm David BerthonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

2024 Lexus LS 500h: Can Hybrids Make Sedans Relevant Again?

When the Lexus LS was introduced as the brand's seminal offering, full-size sedans were the flagships of every luxury lineup. But that was in 1989 when Taylor Swift was born and when Elon Musk was a teenager leaving South Africa for a new life in Canada. In the ensuing decades, American luxury car buyers have largely turned their backs on big sedans, preferring the upright stance of SUVs. But before spending a week driving the LS 500h, Host Jack Nerad had to wonder if the addition of an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain could breathe new life into the big luxury sedan market. After all, the LS 500h offers a lot to like—superb comfort, impeccable craftsmanship, and a wealth of comfort and convenience features. But is it enough to stem the SUV tide? We'll have our thoughts coming up. Our other road test vehicle has a fascinating story of its own. Co-host Chris Teague slipped behind the wheel of the 2024 Toyota bZ4X, the brand's toe-dip into the battery-electric vehicle market. Despite the fact that the brand seemed lukewarm about the whole battery-electric idea, many expected that the pleasant-looking crossover would deliver a Toyota-level execution. In other words, they expected a segment-leading vehicle. But does the bZ4X live up to those high expectations? Teague and Nerad will offer their opinions. This week, our special guest is David Sargent, vice president and head of the connected vehicle practice at J.D. Power. Sargent has previously appeared on the show several times, talking about the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Now, he has new responsibilities and a new J.D. Power service to introduce. We're sure you'll enjoy what he has to say. In the news this week, car dealers across the county are still reeling from the cyber attack that handicapped their ability to do business. We'll have the details regarding this frightening occurrence. Mercury Insurance has released its latest list of the trucks and SUVs that cost the least to insure, and we'll have more on that. There is more bad news for Tesla this week as it has recalled all of its Cybertrucks for potential safety issues. We'll give you all the details and have so much more for you as well. Just as Clark Kent can turn into Superman by ditching his glasses and changing his outfit, so it is wth the 2024 Volvo S60 Recharge. At first glance, like the mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, the S60 Recharge looks unassuming. It's an attractive small sedan, but its exterior doesn't hint at the fire that burns inside. Its surprisingly potent plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering 455 horsepower no less, turns it into one of the fastest and most powerful Volvos ever. That's what host Jack Nerad discovered when he road-tested the car this week. With its ample all-electric range, nifty road manners, and attractive cabin, the S60 Recharge is worth a second look. In our other road test this week, Co-Host Chris Teague evaluates the 2024 Nissan Ariya battery-electric SUV. There was a time when it looked as if the Ariya would lead the electrric SUV parade, but delays in its introduction sidetracked that plan. Is it more than just another battery-powered small SUV? What sets it apart from the other contenders in that increasingly crowded space? We'll tell you in this episode. This week, our special guest is Tyson Jominy, vice president of Data and analytics at J.D. Power. Jominy keeps a very close eye on vehicle pricing and affordability, and he'll have some exclusive information for us. If you're thinking of buying a vehicle in the near future, you need to hear what he has to say. This week, the all-new, all-electric Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S have just rolled into dealerships across the country, and the Type S version just happens to be the most powerful Acura vehicle ever. (Take that NSX!) Also interesting is the fact that you can buy one without ever visiting an Acura dealership. We'll tell you all about the SUV and how Acura plans to sell it. A new study from IDTechEx predicts that robotaxis will be big business in 10 years, but there are issues with the autonomous-driving technology. Will self-driving taxis change the way we live our lives? We'll give you our thoughts. And Toyota has just created a new hydrogen headquarters, indicating its continuing commitment to that alternative fuel. What does that mean for the EV efforts going forward? Honda has just announced that it will plant 85,000 trees near its factory in Ohio. The idea isn't new but maybe it's time to take a second look at measures like this to combat carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rather than concentrating only on EVs. We'll tell you more a little later in the show. So there's plenty of food for thought this week. Thanks for joining us. 2023 Genesis G90 Review: Sedans Still Matter

The Genesis brand spun off from the Genesis models that were originally part of Hyundai's lineup. Kicking the brand off, the company launched the G90 -- a full-size luxury sedan that was aimed at undercutting the competition while still giving customers the feeling of opulence. Genesis first showed this flagship sedan in 2017 -- a time before the sedan lost its foothold. Despite crossovers and SUVs taking more and more market share from the sedan, Genesis saw enough value in its G90 to give it a second generation, and stick with a sedan. The second-generation G90 does ditch the 5.0-liter V8, with only a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 underhood. The folks at Genesis tossed on an electronic supercharger for its top model, which sends 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2023 Genesis G90 and puts it through its paces. Wren guides you through the G90's new features and highlights his favorite additions to the G90. Wren also takes you along for a live drive review of the Genesis G90 and discusses how it feels dynamically. Adding to the show, Wren chats with Patrick Carone about the Genesis G90 over the years, the best features of the new model and where it stands in the pantheon of luxury cars. Closing the show, the two breakdown what makes this new G90 special.

Dejstvo je, da so električna vozila za večino še vedno cenovno nedostopna, zato se posvečamo tudi novici o padcu cen (Teslinih) avtomobilov. Bo to vplivalo na trg?
