Jill and Tom open the show discussing Tom's troubling Diet Pepsi habit, rolling into a discussion of EV startup companies that may or not be on the edge of collapse. Sadly, EV commercial-vehicle startup Canoo--which had been processing a large van order for Walmart--has slipped into receivership. Is Rivian next? Listen in. Next Tom gripes about his Bluetooth issues, which seem to border on the paranormal. Still in the first segment, Jill reviews the 2025 Kia K4, the brand's replacement for the popular Forte small sedan. In the second segment, Jill and Tom welcome Damon Bell of Cars.com. After singing the praises of kringle--a Midwest Danish-like pastry--Damon shared the details of Car's 2024 Full-Size Pickup Challenge, which included three luxury-trimmed pickups. Listen in for details--and a winner. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's "EV Lies!" quiz, after which the duo remembered pioneering auto writer Denise McCluggage.

Sõidame uue Ram 1500'ga, mille kapoti all nüüd V-8 asemel hoopis kolmeliitrine R-6 mootor. Kas see üldse enam on mingi õige Ram? Saatejuhid on Tarmo Tähepõld ja Martin Mets Geeniuse uudisteportaalist.

sJill and Tom opened the show talking about EV range and Jill's recent trip from Chicago to Indianapolis in an electric test car with only about 200 miles of promised range. Listen in on her story. The hosts acknowledged a couple of friends-of-the-podcast birthdays, and discussed how cheap gas has become locally and nationally. Tom shared a tribute to his dad, who died about a week ago. It's a funny story about pouring a milk shake out the window of his father's shake-colored 1970 Nova. Tom went on to complain about Land Rover's trim-level naming strategy, which is, indeed, rather confusing. Still in the first segment, Jill shared her impressions of the new Ram 1500 RHO, which more-or-less replaces the TRX in the big-truck lineup. In the second segment Jill and Tom welcome John Vincent of U.S. New to the show. John walked the hosts through the pros and cons of leasing, and why it makes sense for EV shoppers especially to consider leasing. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “America or Someplace Else” quiz. The quiz includes a question about fake Halloween Hallmark movies. Can you pick the fake? This week the Unnamed Automotive Podcast tackles a pair of vehicles with glaring bugs and issues. The episode starts off with Benjamin's review of the 2025 Ram 1500 Limited, now equipped with a high-output turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine. While attractive and high-tech, Benjamin put the truck through its towing paces and found it to be a headache at times. Hear his thoughts on what went right, and what went wrong with this new pickup. Then Sami tests out the latest small EV from Volvo, the EX30. A hatchback shaped vehicle with a minimalist interior, the EX30 looks interesting enough, but vast pricing differences between the US and Canada has Sami reeling. Making things worse, the Volvo had a poor infotainment experience, which marred the whole vehicle for our host. Thanks for listening!
After years featuring the Hemi V8, the 2025 Ram 1500 now offers the new turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane straight-six engines, and Co-Host Chris Teague gives the heavily massaged full-sized pickup a thorough test. At the wheel of the off-road-oriented Rebel trim, Teague found rural Maine an exciting venue to check out power delivery, handling and creature comforts. Inside, the Ram 1500 offers a cutting-edge experience with its advanced Uconnect 5 infotainment system. It features a 14.5-inch touchscreen, passenger screen, digital instrument cluster, and available head-up display, alongside conveniences like dual wireless device charging. How did his family like it? We'll have a full report in this episode. Across the country on the nation's Left Coast, Host Jack Nerad tested a vehicle whose profile is a litmus test. Either you like the looks of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 battery-electric sedan or you don't. Nerad comes down on the side of those who like what is definitely standout styling. The rear-drive Ioniq 6 Long Range model he testeds delivers up to an EPA-estimated 361 miles of range, equalling or outperforming key competitors like the Tesla Model 3. Beyond that, the minimalist, tech-forward cabin includes dual 12.3-inch displays, fast-charging capabilities, and advanced driver-assistance features. But what's it like to live with day to day? Nerad will have the answer. This week AOTR welcomes two special guests. Danny Shapiro is VP of Automotive at NVIDIA, and Nerad's recent interview with him was so filled with information that it was impossible to fit it all in one segment so we're bringing you the balance of his comments in this show. As a bonus, Nerad also spoke with Adrian Aguirre, chief engineer of the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition, and we'll bring you that as well. Topping the news this week, Tesla has just pulled the wraps off two new vehicles and to say they are groundbreaking is under-stating the case. We'll have all the details. Electric vehicle sales in the United States hit a new record despite many challenges, and we'll tell you how the carmakers pulled off that magic trick coming up. Hint: your taxpayer dollars had a lot to do with it. The current Paris Auto Show previews what could become an epic battle in the United States as European automakers square off against the Chinese, who are flooding European countries with low-priced electric cars. We'll report on that battle soon. In a related development, one major global vehicle manufacturer's admitted troubles have prompted merger rumors. In this episode, we'll tell you which companies are involved and how this could affect the vehicles you can buy here in the United States. So we have a lot of show for you this week. Lightning shares an interview with a customer who experienced a Cummins grid bolt failure first-hand and the guys chat with Jaycie Cochran, owner of FTM Diesel in Point Arena, California about the trials and tribulations of owning a diesel shop and some of her more interesting customer failures. Also, Ram has officially debuted the '25 Ram 1500 RHO and we have the info! The Truck Show Podcast is proudly presented by Nissan in association with Banks Power and AMSOIL.
Episode number 4 is a thrilling discussion on building, wheeling and breaking a full size RAM half-ton truck (RAM1500). Our shop 2022 RAM Rebel GT is codenamed "Swim Shady" and he's ready for action. We have first hand experience in pushing a RAM1500 to the limit that you won't find anywhere else.
Ram has just introduced its latest off-road performance truck, the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, and we will give you all the details in our exclusive interview with Ram North America sales head Brant Combs. Few people know more about Ram's 540-horsepower RHO off-roader than Combs, who took time out of a busy vehicle introduction week to sit down for an interview with Host Jack Nerad. Following in the tire tracks of the Ram 1500 TRX, the new RHO features the brand-new and highly potent 3.0-liter Hurricane H/O straight-six turbo engine that cranks out 540 horsepower and 541 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant is a key to the RHO eye-popping performance that includes 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and 0-100 mph in 11.7 seconds. But, as Combs tells us, there's much more to the truck than just its spaking-new powertrain. It also offers a unique, long-travel suspension system with adaptive damping inspired by desert off-road racers. Combs will tell us much more in this episode. This week's road test vehicles are the 2024 BMW X2 xDrive 28i and the 2024 Mazda CX-5 Turbo. Both are small crossover utilities with more than a little performance spice. Co-Host Chris Teague chased pleasant New England spring weather in the X2, while Host Jack Nerad dodged unusual April raindrops in the CX-5. Details on both vehicles will fill our road test segment this week. Leading the news, the International Energy Agency predicts that electric vehicle sales will surge this year. But evidence on the ground suggests otherwise. Tesla, Rivian, and Fisker are among the electric vehicle manufacturers that are having issues this week, cutting prices, offering new promotions, and, in Fisker's case, telling regulators that bankruptcy might be just around the corner. Of course, Elon Musk always has an answer that calms critics, and we'll tell you what he said with our comments as the news segment rolls out. In other news, BMW and MINI have just introduced new and revised models. We'll have the details on the all-new MINI Aceman, which is the brand's big salvo in its quest to go all-electric, and info on BMW's revised 4 Series. All that and more coming up this week. In Podcast #324, John Davis and the MotorWeek crew go into the details of the recently unveiled 6th-gen Toyota 4Runner…a huge deal for the brand and the first new 4Runner in almost 15 years. Plus, we'll also talk about the refreshed RAM 1500. Then our own Alex Kellum has a question on what his next daily driver should be…with the requirements that it should be manual, a hatchback, and under $15,000. Then we'll finish off with a discussion on the truths and myths on the current state of electrified vehicle sales.
The 2025 Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck isn't all new, but its changes are more significant than the typical mid-cycle refresh. The biggest change is the substitution of the new twin-turbo Hurricane inline-6 for the legendary HEMI V-8. But there is a lot more to it than that, as chief engineer Doug Killian tells us in an exclusive interview. At the truck's introductory drive event Host Jack Nerad sat down for a lengthy and insightful discussion with Killian on the heavily revised truck. From the engine, to the suspension, to the special changes Ram made in the cabin, Killian and Nerad look at them all. In this week's road test segment, AOTR Co-Host Chris Teague slipped behind the wheel of a new model many Americans probably haven't heard of yet — the 2024 Buick Envista Avenir. Its the top-level trim of Buick's latest effort to build and market an affordable entry-level SUV. Does it hit the right marks? Teague tells us in this episode. At the same time, Nerad will report on his recent road test of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV Limited, one of the most appealing mass-market compact utes he's driven in a long time. With plenty of horsepower, tons of interior space, and a handy size, the Tucson plug-in hybrid is an especially appealing vehicle. But it does have at least one shortcoming, which Nerad will reveal in this episode. Leading the news this week, Toyota has just unveiled its all-new 2025 4Runner, and it has Co-Host Chris very excited. We'll have plenty of details on the all-new generation coming up. If you are about to trade in your current car and you haven't finished making the payments on it, you might be in for a nasty shock. We'll tell you all about that and what you can do about it coming up. Acura has just announced a new entry-level SUV that will go on sale next year. While details are scarce, speculation is rampant. We'll tell you what we know and what we suspect is coming up. So we have a lot of show for you this week. Thanks for joining us. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

In this podcast, Jill and Tim are discussing a variety of topics including their top likes and dislikes for the 2025 Ram 150, the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tacoma delays, the upcoming Ranger drive and answer a lot of viewer questions.
Tom opened the show by surprising Jill with a bonus recording-day treat: Funyuns. After determining that there is, in fact, very little actual onion in Funyuns, Tom and Jill turned their attention to automotive matters. Tom read through a list of listener-submitted favorite model names, including picks from regular contributors, among them Damon Bell, Sam Fiorani, and Brendan Appel. Jill then shared her impressions of the updated-for-2025 Ram 1500 pickup truck. Jill was generally impressed by the new truck, but had some reservations regarding the new $90,000 Tungsten trim level. In the second segment Tim Esterdahl of Pickup Truck + SUV Talk joined the show to expand on the Ram 1500 conversation. Tim talked about Ram's move away from the popular Hemi V8 engine to the new Hurricane 6-cylinder powerplant. Tim believes most shoppers will be well served by the new Ram engine lineup. Listen in for complete details. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Turbo or No Turbo” quiz, which featured an Indian-food bonus question. All Business. Driving the heavily revised 2025 Ram 1500 brought on a strange sensation. Instead of giving a sense of raw muscle, it offered the sophistication of an uptown limousine. In fact, we'd bet that most limousines don't ride as well or offer as much stretch-out room as the Ram 1500 Crew Cabs. For 2025, Ram is offering a new line-topping Tungsten model, and it has goosed up the already strong credentials of the former Ram top dog, the Limited. Host Jack Nerad just returned from a trip to Austin, Texas, after driving both. He got the rare opportunity to sample the new, much-talked-about 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder Hurricane High Output engine that replaces the fabled Hemi V8 under Ram's powerful hood. And he got the chance to partake of the Ram 1500's velvety ride quality, the product of its adaptive air suspension. On top of that was the Ram 1500's technology with the headline-creating Uconnect5 system and a 14.5-inch multi-function touchscreen. Nerad will tell us more in this episode. Also, in this episode, Co-Host Chris Teague will detail his findings after a weeklong midwinter test of the 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport. The Ridgeline has always been an idiosyncratic truck. Now it is available in a new form that stresses off-road capabilities. Can it live up to its looks? Teague will have the answers. It's been an exciting week in the car industry. It looks as if the Environmental Protection Agency is finally willing to listen to reason and relax its stringent fuel economy and electric vehicle mandates. Those regulations faced heavy opposition from just about everyone who knew anything about the car industry. We'll have the details for you. Meanwhile, there is more trouble on the self-driving vehicle front. Autonomous vehicle testing in San Francisco has faced a great deal of public resistance, and the recent firebombing of a self-driving car is just the latest example. In a related development, General Motors' embattled Cruise self-driving unit has lost another key executive in a blood-letting after one of its self-driving test cars dragged a pedestrian down the street last year. We'll have more on both stories. In happier news, Mazda has announced that it will continue to develop one of its longtime signature engines. We'll have the details on that later in this segment. This week, our special guest is Andrew Staley, brand manager of the Ford Explorer. Ford has a heavily revised version of the Explorer on the way for 2025, and Host Jack Nerad had a chance to get all the important details from him in their discussion at the Chicago Auto Show. So join us for that. We think you'll be interested in what he has to say. All that and more are coming up on America on the Road. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

In this week's truck news recap, Publisher Tim Esterdahl goes over the last week's news and discusses some feedback related to two videos he published last week.
Sons of Speed Publisher Paul Herrold sits in for Jill this week. Paul and Tom opened the show talking about the discontinued Fiat 500X and related Jeep Renegade small crossovers. Tom asked Paul if he thought Jeep's recent sales decline came—at least in part—as a result of the brand's small, too-conventional crossovers, such as the Renegade, Compass, and Cherokee. Paul talked about four new Sons of Speed videos available for viewing at WeAreMotorDrive.com. The videos feature lap time at Road America race track, and include the Toyota GR Corolla, Volkswagen GTI, BMW M2, and Toyota Supra. Following up on Jill's EV charging issues from a week earlier, Tom shared a tale of similar frustration, including broken Evgo charging units—which were listed as operational on the provider's app—and Electrify America's over-hyped “Super Fast” charging. In the second segment Paul and Tom welcome Ram Communications Manager Trevor Dorchies to the show. Trevor updated the hosts on product in the Ram pipeline, including the redesigned 1500 pickup, the RAM REV electric pickup, and the extended-range plug-in-hybrid Ram Ramcharger. Also discussed is the new, ultra-luxury Ram 1500 Tungsten. In the last segment Paul is subjected to Tom's “Best Mileage” quiz, which includes a surprising Burger King bonus question. The hosts wrapped up the show by discussing why Tom's test vehicle, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, makes Tom want to shoot a water buffalo.
In Podcast 312, John Davis and the MotorWeek crew cover three automotive gamechangers. First up, we went to Barcelona to drive Volvo's newest, smallest, and cheapest EV, the EX30, which starts around $35,000. Then we had some seat time in Chevy's hybrid C8 Corvette, the E-Ray. And following up the first ever all-electric RAM REV is the RAM 1500 Ramcharger, an extended range EV full-size pickup. We'll explain more. Plus we've got a Lightning Round on some big problems for the robotaxi company Cruise and a viewer question about if EVs need special wheels and tires.
The guys welcome diesel fueling expert, Andrew Stauffer from S&S Diesel Motorsport to talk fuel pumps and injectors, Ram introduces a potentially game-changing new truck, and Lightning stretches his legs in “Mexico”.
