Se dice siempre… porque es verdad: El coche es la segunda inversión más importante de una familia. O los coches, en plural, porque a veces es necesario más de uno. Así que te interesa saber cuánto se va a devaluar tu coche… porque hay coches que se llegan a devaluar en solo 5 años… ¡hasta el 72 por ciento! Te voy a dar un dato de referencia de la empresa iSeeCars una plataforma norteamericana a través de la cual se venden cada año, millones de vehículos. Según el estudio correspondiente a 2024, en 5 años la media de devaluación de un vehículo se sitúa en torno al 45 por ciento. Este dato, aunque haga referencia al mercado norteamericano, te sirve como “fiel de la balanza”. Cuanto más desarrollado es un mercado más se devalúan los coches, mientras que mercados menos desarrollados los usados mantienen más el valor, sencillamente, porque son más baratos y se venden más. Te damos unos consejitos: - Haz un buen seguro. ¿Qué tiene que ver el seguro con la devaluación de un coche? Mucho más de lo que crees. Con un buen seguro a todo riesgo o con franquicia razonable, cuando vayas a vender el coche, si tienes algunos “toquecitos” lo pintas y ya está… Además las malas reparaciones mal hechas hacen perder valor a tu coche. - Mantenimiento: Al día y demostrable. Además de estar bien mantenido, debe parecerlo. - Uso y no abuso: Haz un uso adecuado del coche, sin maltratarlo en ningún sentido. Estos son algunos de los tipos de coche que más se devalúan. - Los coches de lujo. Son caros nuevos o muy nuevos, pero luego pierden valor muy rápido. - Deportivos sin “pedigrí”. El ejemplo más claro son los coupés de marcas generalistas, que pierden mucho valor rápidamente. - Coches de alta gama de marcas generalistas. Más de lo mismo, porque quien quiere un coche premium lo quiere de una marca premium. - Modelos eléctricos. En estos casos el comprador de un usado está temeroso porque si tiene que cambiar la batería le sale, como suele decirse, “más caro el collar que el galgo”. - Coches con tecnologías obsoletas. O que lo parecen. En este grupo podrían entrar los diésel, demonizados sin razón y que mucha gente no quiere como usado por temor a que no le dejen usarlo… - Modelos de elevada producción. Al fin y al cabo estamos en un mercado donde los precios los marcan la oferta y la demanda. - Marcas poco conocidas o con mala imagen. Prueba a vender un Jaguar o un Peugeot con motor “Pure-Tech” … o a vender un coche chino, que te ha salido muy barato, pero que casi nadie quiere como usado, porque hay un gran desconocimiento de cómo les afecta el tiempo y los kilómetros… Y ahora, llega el momento de señalar con el dedo cuáles son las ranking está elaborado por iSeeCars con datos de 2024 y nos da una idea muy precisa de qué coches son una mala inversión. Me voy a centrar en los 10 peores, los que más se devalúan en los 5 primeros años. 10º. Cadillac Escalade ESV. 62,9 por ciento. Lo reúne todo: El caro de comprar, costoso de mantener, gasta mucho y además han dado muchos problemas. 9º. Tesla Model X. 63,4 por ciento. Fruto de los reiterados problemas de calidad de este modelo. 8º. Maserati Levante. 63,7 por ciento. Quiero hacer un video sobre Maserati, porque la marca es muy conocida, pero sus coches no. Y eso le perjudica en este ranking. 7º. Nissan Leaf. 64,1 por ciento. Si tienes que cambiar la batería, puedes gastarte entre 5.000 y casi 10.000 €. Eso asusta al comprador de un usado. 6º. BMW Serie 5. 64,7 por ciento. Me sorprende ver este coche en esta posición, pero a lo mejor los precios que se pagan en los concesionarios de la marca tienen algo que ver. 5º. Maserati Ghibli. 64,7 por ciento. Coche minoritario, incluso raro, y de una marca que no inspira mucha confianza. 4º. Infiniti QX80. 65,0 por ciento. Estos modelos tuvieron algunos problemas con el cambio y electrónicos, pero, sobre todo, no es una marca con prestigio dentro del mundo “Premium”. 3º. Tesla Model S. 65,2 por ciento. Puesto de podio para el Model S confirmando la crisis de fiabilidad de la marca. Causa o efecto. No sé si esto tiene que ver con la caída de ventas, las malas noticias ahuyentas a los compradores, es esta es la causa de la caída de ventas. 2º. BMW Serie 7. 67,1 por ciento. Voy a ser un poco “malo”: Quien compra un coche usado de esta categoría prefiere sin duda el Lexus o un Mercedes. 1º. Jaguar I-PACE. 72,3 por ciento. Un claro vencedor porque lo tiene todo: Es caro, es eléctrico, es problemático y la marca tiene una crisis de prestigio enorme… que no está sabiendo gestionar. Conclusión. Para mí la conclusión es clara y contundente: Es mucho más interesante comprar un coche usado que uno nuevo. Comprar un buen coche usado, con solo entre 1 y 3 años, me parece la mejor compra posible, la compra más inteligente. ¿No opináis lo mismo?

From figuring out if solar panels make sense for your home to understanding how electric vehicle credits work (and when they're expiring), this episode is packed with actionable insights and tips, especially for those planning for retirement or looking to cut down on monthly expenses. The Solar Panel Tax Credit is a Fading Opportunity One of the biggest draws for homeowners considering solar panels has been the significant federal tax credit, currently set at 30% of the total installation cost. This credit has made solar an appealing investment for many, offering a direct dollar-for-dollar reduction in the taxes owed. In high-cost electricity states like Connecticut, this can mean hundreds of dollars in monthly savings on your utility bill. However, the Big Beautiful Bill brings an unfortunate change: the solar tax credit is set to disappear at the end of this year. That means if you've been thinking about going solar, now is the time to act. If you don't install solar panels before the deadline could add years to your payback period, undermining the investment's attractiveness and putting it out of reach for many. Energy Savings of Battery Storage and EVs While solar panels are great for energy savings, adding a battery storage system further enhances their benefits. A battery can store excess solar power for use during peak times or outages, which is particularly helpful for retirees planning to stay in their homes for decades and looking to insulate themselves from rising electricity rates. Electric vehicles (EVs) also offer savings for households with high transportation costs. The federal EV tax credit, worth up to $7,500 on new cars and up to $4,000 for used EVs, has also been a strong motivator for those considering a switch from gas-powered vehicles. The Big Beautiful Bill also changes the EV tax credit, which will disappear even sooner than the solar incentive. Although there are several important limitations: only vehicles assembled in North America qualify, and there's a cap on purchase price ($55,000 for sedans, $80,000 for SUVs). Income limitations apply as well; single filers must earn less than $150,000 ($300,000 for married couples) to claim the new vehicle credit. The used EV credit comes with lower income caps ($75,000 for singles, $150,000 for couples) and is worth up to $4,000.  Should You Act Now?  Before making any big investment, think about the following: Timing: Both solar and EV credits will soon vanish. If you want the tax break, don't wait. Financial Health: The best return comes from paying cash, not financing or tapping retirement accounts. Long-term Plans: Solar and EV investments make the most sense if you plan to stay in your home and keep your vehicle for years to come. Manufacturers may eventually lower prices as credits disappear, but there are no guarantees. With energy incentives set to change dramatically, the window to maximize savings is closing fast. For homeowners and future retirees, the time to act is now, whether that means installing solar, purchasing an EV, or both. Consult with a financial advisor to consider how these decisions fit into your overall retirement and financial readiness strategy. The Treasury Department's official list of eligible vehicles shows that the cars, trucks, minivans, and SUVs listed below qualify for a full $7,500 tax credit if placed in service between January 1 and September 30 of 2025.   In some cases, only certain trim levels or model years qualify. More vehicles may be added to or removed from this list as manufacturers continue to submit information on whether their vehicles are eligible. Our guest in this episode is Sterling Anderson, a pioneer of self-driving vehicles. With a masters degree and a PhD from MIT, Sterling led the development and launch of the Tesla Model X, and then led the team that delivered Tesla Autopilot. Rabbi Tzvi Kushlefsky, a respected rosh yeshiva based in Jerusalem, joyfully welcomed his firstborn son into the world this March at the age of 88.   Rabbi Kushlefsky experienced the sorrow of becoming a widower at 82, having never had children with his first wife. He remarried six years later to Mrs. Rochel Daniella, an American woman aged 50 at the time, already a mother to several children.   At 88, Rabbi Kushlefsky and his Rebbetzin, now 57, celebrated the birth of their first son together. The joyous event occurred at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, where the baby was born healthy, without any complications, thank God.   The streets of Jerusalem near his yeshivas were alive with dancing as the community shared in his happiness.   In this episode, I traveled to Lakewood to meet them and to ask them about their faith and trust in Hashem. Today I am joined by Ryan Christopher, or on Instagram Stukinthe90s. Ryan is somewhat of a legend, with a 90's car collection containing a Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Nissan GTR, and Acura NSX. He also owns a Tesla Model S Plaid and a Tesla Model X, and takes all of his cars to the local drag strip. Ryan's most recent project has been a second Mk 4 Supra, but this time he rebuilt it with a Tesla motor and battery pack. We purchased a EQS450 4Matic EV for our test program, and share our first impression of its range, infotainment system, the usability of the third row, and how it compares to other EV SUVs like the Tesla Model X and BMW iX. Polestar 5 has been spied on the road with provisional lights, giving a glimpse of its sleek. Set to hit the market in 2023, the Polestar 5 will be a strong contender in the luxury electric vehicle market and a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. Volkswagen has unveiled the facelifted version of its popular ID.3 featuring subtle updates and improved software, assist systems, and other tweaks that enhance both its exterior and interior. The car retains the same electric drive motor, battery options, and range ratings, and is set to ship to customers in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2023. It adds “functions on demand,” which can be added later. The starting price for the ID.3 is now €43,995, significantly higher than the previous price of €30,000. Volkswagen-owned software company CARIAD has launched a new application store for cars, in partnership with HARMAN. Audi is the first brand to integrate the store in selected models as of July 2023, offering customers a range of exclusive apps from Volkswagen Group brands, as well as third-party content. Kia will unveil its new electric SUV, the EV9, in mid-March, which will be the company's flagship SUV built on the E-GMP platform, offering impressive performance and range, and equipped with advanced technology and driver assistance systems. The EV9 is expected to have a range of around 300 miles on a single charge and compete with the Tesla Model X and the Audi e-tron. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is considering a new interpretation that would require all electric and hybrid passenger vehicles made since 1997 to have pedestrian warnings. The reinterpretation could result in a massive recall, forcing manufacturers to retrofit millions of affected vehicles Jaguar Land Rover owner, Tata Motors, has demanded over £500m of government aid for a new battery factory in the UK, with the Indian group reportedly close to choosing between Spain and the southwest of England. UK car production dwindled last year to its lowest level since the 1950s, following the closure of Honda's plant in Swindon. In Australia, Victoria's Zero and Low-Emission Vehicle road user charge has resulted in the registration of 243 electric vehicles being cancelled, with critics labelling it "the world's worst EV policy." The highly unpopular tax is facing a High Court challenge, with plaintiffs arguing that it is unconstitutional. Italian sporting brand Abarth has unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle, the Abarth 500e, which features a more responsive motor and improved handling over its petrol counterpart. Priced from £38,695 in the UK, deliveries of the hot hatch will begin in June 2023. In the UK, Luxury vehicle division Genesis, owned by Hyundai Motor Group, is seeking partners with automotive experience and customer service experience to expand its presence in the UK and operate around 15 new retail centres next year, following its growth curve and popularity in particular of its electrified models, including the Genesis GV60 EV. Genesis will reward its partners based on their customer satisfaction scores alone. In China, Dongfeng Motor Group has partnered with Renault to develop sodium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) in China, which offer a lower cost and safer alternative to commonly used lithium-ion batteries. Renault and Dongfeng plan to begin mass production of EVs equipped with sodium-ion batteries in the near future to reduce their dependence on the supply chain for rare earth metals used in lithium-ion batteries. Mini has announced the production of an electric version of the Countryman crossover in 2023, with a range of approximately 300 miles per charge, contributing to BMW's goal of 50% electrified global sales by 2030.

Ike Reighard, senior pastor of Piedmont Church and CEO of MUST Ministries, was named the Marietta Citizen of the Year Thursday by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Reighard was surprised with the honor at the chamber's Marietta council luncheon following Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin's State of the City address. As Tumlin announced Reighard as the Citizen of the Year, the pastor shook his head in disbelief. Tumlin cited the famous New Testament verse, Matthew 25:35 — “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,” — to describe Reighard's service to the community. Reighard joined MUST Ministries in 2011. The organization provides assistance to families and individuals in need, from food drives and fundraisers to the Hope House Emergency Shelter, which sleeps 136 residents. After receiving a standing ovation, Reighard made his way to the front of the room and accepted the award from Tumlin and Andy Gaines, the 2022 Marietta Area Council director. Two former Amazon employees who worked at an Amazon warehouse in Smyrna pleaded guilty after being accused of stealing nearly $10 million from the company, federal prosecutors announced Thursday. The defendants stole the funds while employed at the company in managerial and loss prevention roles, prosecutors said, and spent it on real estate, sports cars and jewelry. Ryan K. Buchanan, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, said that Kayricka Wortham of Atlanta and Demetrius Hines of Smyrna used their positions at the e-commerce and tech giant to submit more than $10 million in fictitious invoices for fake vendors, leading the company to pay approximately $9.4 million to Wortham, Hines and co-conspirators. As part of their sentencing, Wortham and Hines will forfeit cash and assets purchased with the stolen funds, prosecutors said. For Wortham, that includes more than $2.7 million, a Smyrna residence (purchased for more than $900,000), a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a 2021 Dodge Durango, a 2022 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Porsche Panamera and a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle. Hines will forfeit more than $600,000, along with a 2022 Suzuki GSX1300 Motorcycle, a 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang, a 2021 Ford F-150 Black Widow, a Rolex Day-Date watch, a diamond bracelet and a diamond necklace. Wortham, 31, also known as Kayricka Dupree or Kayricka Young, was the leader of the scheme and worked as an operations manager at Amazon from August 2020 to March 2022 at the Smyrna warehouse, according to prosecutors. A Marietta man was sentenced to life in prison for aggravated sodomy, the Cobb County District Attorney's office announced Wednesday. Travis Leonard Hudson, 50, was sentenced by Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark Monday after he was found guilty by a jury on November 18, according to a news release from the DA's office. Prosecutors said Hudson's trial began Nov. 14, and that he was tried for sexually assaulting a female acquaintance on the night of March 12, 2021. The woman was reportedly visiting Hudson at his apartment and woke up to him assaulting her. Following an investigation by the Cobb County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit, Hudson was arrested in June of last year. During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Sarah Hilleren presented the testimony of law enforcement, the victim, medical professionals and other evidence, the release said.   An Acworth woman and alleged gang member previously convicted for her involvement in the murder of a 17-year-old in Bartow County has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday. Jennifer Foutz, 30, received 12 years in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting murder in aid of racketeering, and aiding and abetting the use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia said. Gary Terrell Davis was sentenced this week for his role in the murder, the last of eight alleged members or associates of northwest Georgia's 135 Pirus gang accused in the murder. The lead defendant in the case, Maurice Antonio Kent, 32, of Cartersville, was found guilty of four felonies in May. On Aug. 24, Kent was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release. Others convicted in the case included Christopher Nwanjoku, 30, of Lawrenceville, Jamel Dupree Hughes, 27, of Atlanta, Cedric Sams, 29, of Cartersville, Michael Kent, 32, of Atlanta and DaSean Dorey, 29, of Decatur. Foutz, also known as “Rose,” had previously been arrested in connection to an unrelated shooting at an Acworth gas station in June 2017. Authorities said at the time she and Hughes encountered a member of another gang at the gas station. Hughes allegedly shot the member of the other gang multiple times before undercover police at the gas station working an unrelated case saw the shooting, and proceeded to pursue Foutz and Hughes, who attempted to flee in their car.   For the Marietta flag football team, it follows a simple premise. If the other team doesn't score, it can't win.  That was the case again Thursday night when the Blue Devils defeated North Gwinnett 13-0 in the quarterfinals of the Class 7A state playoffs. With the win, Marietta moves on to play Blessed Trinity in a rematch of last year's state semifinals, a game the Blue Devils won 26-0.  For the Blue Devils, it was their eighth shutout of the season and third straight to open the playoffs. The defense was so dominant it allowed only two first downs over the first 39 minutes of the 40 minute game, and only two plays of more than five yards during that stretch. With 3:53 left to play, North Gwinnett had one last chance to try to work its way downfield to try and tie the game, instead it went backwards. A run on first down lost three yards, a botched pitch on a reverse lost seven yards and two incomplete passes gave the ball back to Marietta at the Bulldogs' 5-yard line. It took only one play for Hennessey to find Gabi O'Neill with a short touchdown pass to put the game away.  Monday's semifinal matchup will be played at the Atlanta Falcons training facility in Flowery Branch. It is the first time the final four will be played there.   The Marietta Police Department and its retiree association honored women who have worked on the force in a ceremony at City Hall on Thursday. Jack Shields, a retired sergeant who worked for the MPD for 33 years and now organizes the department's retiree club, had the idea for the ceremony when he heard Susan Fuder would be in town for the regular MPD retiree lunch. Fuder, now in her 70s, became Marietta's first woman police officer in 1972. She was an officer for 10 years, during which she worked on patrol and in crime prevention. Shields said he figured it would be a good opportunity to recognize all women police officers. He and Marietta Chief Marty Ferrell presented Fuder with a plaque for her service. Fuder said when she applied to be an officer, the police chief at the time asked if she was sure she didn't want to be a secretary. She was sure — and had wanted to be a police officer since childhood. When Fuder became an officer she said her first uniform was a skirt, despite her request for pants. That changed after she had to retrieve a stolen bicycle tossed in some brambles. LOTUS ELETRE OPENS A NEW FRONT IN ELECTRIC SUVS - the new era of Lotus as an EV maker begins with this, the Eletre. It takes elements we've seen on the Evija battery-electric hypercar and Emira ICE sports car, wraps them in a larger package, jacks them up, and throws in a lot of new tech for the brand and the market. - The Eletre is 201 inches long on a 118.9-inch wheelbase, about 79 inches wide, and 64 inches high. Every one of those dimensions puts the Lotus within a couple of inches of the Aston Martin DBX - All we're told is the pack is more than 100 kWh and output starts at 600 horsepower. Every Eletre is all-wheel-drive, with a motor on each axle. - The 800-volt electrical architecture can handle up to 350-kW fast-charging, 20 minutes at a station at that charge rate restoring 248 WLTP miles of the Eletre's estimated 373-mile range in WLTP testing. 62 miles per hour in under 3 seconds and hit a top speed of 161 mph. - The electronic side mirror housings each contain three cameras, one camera for the rear views, one to help stitch a 360-degree overhead view, and one to help enable self-driving. - A slim gauge cluster and a head-up display provides the driver with relevant info, front passengers get a similar slim display that can display infotainment options. Between them, a 15.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that lays flat when not in use. Active ride height and active anti-roll bars, along with rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring will be available as options on the Eletre, along with 23-inch alloy wheels - Four different drive modes—Range, Tour, Sport and Off-Road—adjust steering and accelerator pedal response, along with damping rates and powertrain output. And Individual mode will allow drivers to mix and match some settings to suit their personal driving styles. - The four LIDAR units, one at the top of the windshield, one at the top of the backlight, and one on each front fender, are hidden when not in use, thus preserving the Eletre's svelte appearance. - For context, the Eletre has 2.1 inches more space between the axles than a Tesla Model X and is 2.6 inches longer overall and 0.8 inches lower. This is not a small Lotus. - The rear is dominated two large vents that are bridged by a thin light bar, and a roof spoiler system that comprises two carbon fibre winglets cantilevered from the roof cant rails. The winglets function just like a conventional, full-width roof spoiler, guiding airflow down the backlight and on to a spoiler that deploys out of the tailgate at speed. Even long after Bentley and Porsche brushed aside tradition and released their own first SUVs, Lotus remained a sports-car-only company. With SUVs becoming the dominant passenger vehicle type, it may have been inevitable that Lotus would eventually throw its hat into the ring. As might be expected, Lotus brought a lot of its old sports car tricks into the design and manufacturing of the Eletre. - Lotus says the Eletre features “extensive” use of carbon fiber and aluminum to keep the (still undisclosed) weight down. The exterior body panels are aluminum, and all the black exterior trim pieces, such as the wheel arches, rear spoiler, and side-view mirrors, are carbon fiber. Hard interior trim pieces are also carbon fiber, and the seats are wrapped in a wool-blend fabric that, according to Lotus, is 50 percent lighter than typical leather seating. - An active front grill comprises interconnected triangular panels which stay closed when the Eletre is stopped or when it needs to reduce aerodynamic drag and automatically open to scoop air to the radiator to cool the electric motors, battery pack, or front brakes when needed. During this locking and unlocking sequence, the active grill “breathes” as the illuminated flush-fitting door handles deploy, opening and closing the vented panels. According to Kyle Conner, the weather was perfect, maybe beside from some wind during part of the test. This is the first known delivery of the manufacturer's domestically produced vehicles since the ceremonial handover of 30 Model Ys on March 22 by Elon Musk. - . It was reported today that Denmark also hosted a delivery ceremony for the Giga Berlin-made Model Y, marking the first mention of international delivery of German-made vehicles. Electric vehicle owner Max Wilkinson - who is also a Cheltenham Councillor - recently bought a four-year-old hybrid Mini Countryman. He went home - but returned two hours later by which time the hybrid Mini was about half-charged. A week later Max received a penalty notice saying he'd been fined £90. Mr Wilkinson has paid the fine and doesn't dispute it.
