After a 2 year delay, Francesca Martinez' brand new play All Of Us is finally arriving to the National Theatre. One of it's stars is Francesca Mills, who joins us for this very special interview to talk about the experience of developing this show with Francesca Martinez and director: Ian Rickson. She previously starred in A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer in the Dorfman Theatre where All Of Us is set to play. As Poppy, Francesca hopes to give voice to an angry society, who are frustrated with the inequalities in society and who have been neglected during the pandemic. With the industry slowly changing and trying to give voice to disabled people's experiences, All Of Us should strike a chord with all audiences with Martinez's script encouraging empathy and hope for the future. In this new interview, Francesca Mills talks candidly about returning to the National Theatre, after a pause due to the pandemic. She tells us about the experience of reuniting with many of the same cast from the 2020 run and how joyful it's been working under Ian Rickson and Francesca Martinez. Audiences will probably be aware of Francesca's work on screen, playing Cherry Donnington in Harlots and is about to be seen in The Witcher: Blood Origin on Netflix. Still, she insists that it is theatre that she is in love with and prefers doing, getting to connect with audiences in an intimate space like the Dorfman Theatre. We also get  a glimpse of Francesca Mills' personality outside of acting and she shares her gratitude for the experiences offered to her as well her career aspirations too.All Of Us officially opens on Thursday 4th August at the Dorfman Theatre, National Theatre and tickets are on sale now!

Nicoleta is a person of many talents and she intertwined them in very beautiful and useful ways. We talked about how she decided to be a DJ in the first place, it’s funny because I didn’t even know what the acronym stands for; we talked about her style and creative process, she is also a producer and composer and has her own record label Muzică Without Frontiers. By the way, she also had a gig in Chișinău, capital of Republic of Moldova wink wink. “After DJing for 20 years, Nico [de Transilvania] released her first album ‘Be One’ in 2019, featuring traditional folkloric instruments and songs from her homeland Transylvania. Its aim is to help preserve the old traditional instruments and folk songs from Transylvania and bring them back to life on an electronic dance music platform” source:https://www.forestswithoutfrontiers.org/album. You can buy the album here, “all album sales will go towards planting trees in Transylvania“. We then went on to talk about her journey as a yoga teacher, how it helped her when she first moved to the UK, the formation in India, the certifications and her plans for yoga in nature. And talking about nature, she is running an amazing charity called Forests without Frontiers with the aim of reforestation and preservation of ancient forests in Carpathian Mountains, Romania with big plans of expansion in other areas/countries. Nico loves connecting the art world with nature and there are a lot of interesting creative collaborations that you can learn more about on their website. The charity is always in need for support, so head over there to make a contribution or to become an ambassador: you can enquire at info@forestswithoutfrontiers.org, check out their newly launched line of eco friendly made T-shirts and hoodies https://forestswithoutfrontiers.co.uk/. In this episode you will also learn about Nico’s experience as a social worker; teaching life skills for homeless people; the plans for a cook book, her new projects involving one using voices of children in the UK; her experience in the production of Wild Carpathia, looking after the elders of the forests and local communities and many other inspirational stuff. We mentioned names like Francesca Martinez, Raoul Martinez, Stephen Fry, Russel Brand and even Prince Charles. The music in the podcast is of course from Nico’s album so that you can get a taste of it (the tracks are called Ciuleandra Feat. Fluierașii & Andra Covaleov and Trece Doru Feat. After a packed-out film screening of BAFTA award-winning I, Daniel Blake and a Q&A session at SOAS we caught up with film director Ken Loach and comedian Francesca Martinez for a short interview - listen to them talk about the human right of laughter, the role of the arts in politics and the surprising success of Loach's latest film I, Daniel Blake. Thanks to Feyzi Ismail. Interview and production by Miia Laine. About I, Daniel Blake: Daniel Blake, 59, has worked as a joiner most of his life in Newcastle. Now, for the first time ever, he needs help from the state. He crosses paths with single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy and Dylan. Katie’s only chance to escape a one-roomed homeless hostel in London has been to accept a flat in a city she doesn’t know, some 300 miles away. Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern-day Britain. Ken Loach was born in 1936 in Nuneaton. Following a brief spell in theatre, Loach launched his long career directing films for television and the cinema. Now, 60 years after he made an indelible mark on society with the airing of Cathy Come Home, a TV drama which was credited with transforming the nation's perception of homelessness, Loach returns with one of his most powerful and important films. The Palme d'Or winning I, Daniel Blake proves Ken's voice is as essential to the country now as it ever was. This is his second Palme d'Or, the first for The Wind That Shakes the Barley in 2006. His film Kes was voted the seventh greatest British film of the 20th century in a poll by the British Film Institute. His socially critical directing style and his socialist ideals are evident in his film treatment of social issues in general - poverty, homelessness and labour rights, amongst others. He has collaborated with screenwriter Paul Laverty on a number of films. How To Make a Ken Loach Film, an app and website that unveils Ken's inimitable style of filmmaking through contributions from close collaborators and the man himself, is available online for free. Francesca Martinez is a wobbly* comedian, writer and speaker who has toured internationally with sell-out runs at The Melbourne Comedy Festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. She launched her comedy career in 2000 beating a thousand UK comedians, including Mathew Horne, Karl Theobald and Jimmy Carr, to become the first and only woman to win the Open Mic Award. She has performed in Australia, Ireland, France, South Africa, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, in Hollywood and on Broadway, and at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland alongside actress Emma Thompson. Last year, she opened Series 11 of BBC2's Live At The Apollo, guested on BBC's Celebrity Pointless, and wrote a play commemorating Shakespeare's birth for BBC Radio 3. This year she has commissions to write plays for BBC Radio 4 and the National Theatre. In 2013 she collected 100,000 signatures for the WOW campaign, leading to a historic debate on welfare cuts in the House of Commons. In 2015 she received an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University for 'making Britain a more compassionate and fairer society', and another in 2016 from Bradford University. Her bestselling first book, also called What The **** Is Normal?!, was published by Random House in 2014, with a paperback release in May 2015. *Oh yeah, she has mild cerebral palsy but she much prefers the word ‘wobbly’.

She also reveals how Richard attempted to corrupt her in 2003 in Melbourne, but luckily she's still talking to him and speculates on whether Jonathan Ross has ever tried to suck his own penis. And Richard recounts the embarrassing interactions that he's had with his childhood hero Ben Elton and how awkward Sunday's gig for SCOPE (not what Elton calls it) at the Hammersmith Apollo on May 20th might be.
