We have a unique a certified Feng Shui practitioner and Yoga instructor.  Her name is Sarah Fakhouri.  We will be talking about Creating balance through yoga and feng shi. Sara’s path to the ancient acts of healing began at 13,000 feet off of the ground. She sought after moments of stillness while in free fall during skydiving, where the only sounds you hear are the sounds of your breath, and the collective noise of the universe. Her need to feel connected to earth and the energy of our universe was only actualized by the exaggerated movement of jumping out of a plane to land on earth with both feet planted on the ground. But a healing trip with friends to a yoga retreat in Thailand was all it took for her to realize that observing your breath on the mat, and harmonizing that breath with physical movement was a powerful act of connectedness matched by none, not even skydiving between the heavens and earth. This experience triggered a series of explorations into ancient healing practices including Feng Shui and Yoga that lead to a formal training in both practices. salute@thebodhilab.com+971559001900 www.thebodhilab.com For additional podcast from Healthy Living With Eric Su visit www.ericwsu.com/podcasts.   Remember, Eric Su’s FREE Results Coaching Strategy session: www.ericwsu.com/freecoachingcall Watch Eric Su on Facebook Live.  Visit www.facebook.com/ericwsutrainer every Friday at 9:30am CST. We have a cool and knowledgeable personal trainer with us today.  His name is Geoff Etherson.  We will be talking about why strength training and lifting weights is super important for overall health and fat loss. Geoff was born and raised in Anaheim, and spent most of his youth playing sports. After finishing his athletic career playing football at Golden West College, he realized that he needed something to compete at. It was at this time that Geoff found his true passion in weight training. After receiving his AA at Golden West in Health Science, he attended the California University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and Sports Management. After graduating Geoff took a 4 month internship with the Washington Redskins as an assistant to the head strength coach John Hastings. It was there that Geoff learned how to implement the knowledge that he had retained from school. Learning how the coaches programmed the workouts to achieve each athlete’s goals is what gave him the idea for Train Insane. Taking the principles used by professional athletes, and modifying them for the average Joe or Jane. www.traininsanegym.com For additional podcast from Healthy Living With Eric Su visit www.ericwsu.com/podcasts.   Remember, Eric Su’s FREE Results Coaching Strategy session: www.ericwsu.com/freecoachingcall Watch Eric Su on Facebook Live.  Visit www.facebook.com/ericwsutrainer every Friday at 9:30am CST. We have a hard working and knowledgable personal trainer with us today.  His name is Guy Petruzzelli.  We will be talking about How to get back into the game to become the your healthiest. As a 43 year old professional  duathlete, who, at the age of 20, found a real passion for multi-sport, was forced to take some time away. I was hit by a car in 1996, leaving me rather injured and finding a comeback difficult. So I finished law school, passed the Illinois Bar exam and thought my time in the sport was over. In 2002, I was fortunate to have some close friends, who were concerned about my physical state, encourage me to get back into the sport. It wasn’t easy, but I came back to it with more desire, drive and passion. I worked hard under the coaching supervision of the great Jennifer Garrison, and in 2008 I was offered an opportunity to turn professional. It was a dream come true. I left law in 2009 to pursue my dream of being a professional multisport athlete and I have been blessed with the opportunity to do more with the sport, and meet a ton of great people along the way. As the 2010 season started to heat up in June, I was out for a training ride and once again, hit by a car. This time, I was left with a broken right collarbone and 3 broken ribs. My doctor insisted that even with surgery, I would miss the remainder of the season and would most likely not even be able to train hard until the start of 2011. I refused to believe that I would be limited for that long. So right after surgery I went to see Nate Aye and John Conquest at Crossfit DuPage. I was very honest about my goals as an athlete and the desire to be in the top tier of pro multisport athletes in 2011. They were very honest in turn, and made it clear – my goals were attainable, but it would take hard work and an open mind. From that day forward, I never looked back. A short 6 weeks later I met someone I knew would be a friend for life. Someone who was as driven as I was, constantly  challenging the norm, and believed that working smart was the key to success in multisport. Brian McKenzie from Crossfit Endurance opened my eyes to even more change to my training methods, breaking down old school endurance training ideology, improving my running form, and changing my mentality as how I approach training and racing. I was skeptical for the first hour I heard him talk, and then I watched as in less than 48 hours, I had improved my running efficiency by 53%. I was a believer. With Brian’s help, I was able to achieve 2 things in less than 5 weeks – continue to speed up my healing process, and improve fitness. When I went to see my doctor at week 9 post-surgery, the x-rays showed 90% bone growth, and I was cleared to race duathlons. But the most amazing part – my 5K time dropped, my LT wattage on the bike increased by 33% and I was 8 lbs. lighter than pre-accident. This wasn’t by accident; this was due to following Crossfit Strength and Crossfit Endurance principles. Best part, I’m still improving.  To spread the word of my recovery and passion, I was the focus of a Triathlete Magazine article in the February 2011 edition, written by TJ Murphy. I was then added to the book written by Brian MacKenzie in November 2012 – “Power, Speed, Endurance, a skill based approach to endurance training”, and featured in Chris Solomon’s article in the January 2013 issue of Outside Magazine, where Chris chronicles his use of Crossfit Endurance to train for a marathon.  To prove that I practice what I preach, I’ve been working with Cody Burhardt, head coach at Power Speed Endurance, to help me reach my current world rank of 11th in Duathlon. I’ve also appeared on the podcast www.athleteologist.com – episode 8,where I was able to share my story. facebook.com/guypetruzzelli twitter,com/guypetruzzelli instagram.com/guypetruzzelli www.guypetruzzelli.blogspot.com For additional podcast from Healthy Living With Eric Su visit www.ericwsu.com/podcasts.   Remember, Eric Su’s FREE Results Coaching Strategy session: www.ericwsu.com/freecoachingcall Watch Eric Su on Facebook Live.  Visit www.facebook.com/ericwsutrainer every Friday at 9:30am CST. We have fun and knowledgeable yoga instructor with us today. Her name is Heather Rems Korwin.  We will be talking about taking your physical yoga practice beyond the mat. I started practicing yoga over a decade ago.  First I dabbled, then I got hooked. Then I started teaching…by accident. I started teaching without any formal training (that came later). I was scared & nervous when I started, but I loved it so much I didn’t let that stop me. It’s been a wild ride. Now I own two studios in Connecticut where I teach regularly & offer yoga teacher training. I love sharing what I know about this practice – what I’ve learned about myself through it on my mat. And what I’ve learned to take off my mat. And that’s what the bent yogi is all about. Sharing what I’ve learned (and am still learning) with you. What challenges me, what scares me, what inspires me.  In the hopes that I can inspire you too. She facilitates such transformation through sacred movement, energy healing, tarot, dream-building, poetry, and motivational speaking. She shares her message globally on Instagram as @cassyogaand via her Bliss Blog | Soul In Love. Rumor has it she is manifesting a world tour. Join her newsletter for weekly playlists, inspiration, and to hear about upcoming workshops, events, and retreats. Movement is her first language. She was a mover; shape-shifting and exploring her boundaries, body, mind, and spirit. Perhaps this was why her mom gave her a yoga book as a young child. Cass shares, “I remember flipping through the pages and trying the different postures, my competitive mind loved the challenge,” but it was so much more than physical for her. She became enthralled by the mysticism of the eight-limb path. A desire to teach yoga overcame her in 2009 as a young college student. The idea crossed her mind while in savasana at a campus class. The experience propelled her to enroll in teacher training at Moksha Yoga Center. She started teaching right away. After devotedly logging 1000 hours of study, the Chicago suburbanite was officially certified in 2010. We have self made cook and personal trainer. Her names Julia Burns.  We will be talking about making healthy eating tasty without the guilt. After years of floundering in a career she was unhappy with and consistently turning to her love of food and fitness to fulfill her outside of her life in the corporate world, she turned fitness into a career.  But in the midst of building her business, she found herself stressed, over worked, and eventually sick.  It occurred to her that something was missing – many things were missing actually.  Like so many people, she wasn’t sleeping enough, managing her stress, or taking care of her body and mind in a meaningful way.   Working long hours, she would come home to an empty kitchen and just a few hours to sleep.  Something had to change.  So she got back in the kitchen to restore her health through nutrition and a passion for creating something delicious.  And thus The Empty Cupboard Club began in October 2013.   It started with a small idea to share my food and personal training expertise with friends and family.  In addition to creating delicious, nutrient dense meals, The Empty Cupboard Club strives to create a community and conversation around food and fitness that re frames your viewpoint.  The ECC presents fitness and nutrition as a gift that is full of possibilities. We have a super knowledgeable personal trainer with us today. His name is Missy Bunch.  We will be talking about special ways to reduce pain. Dancing since the age of three, I developed my deep fascination with the human body at a very young age. I am a certified personal trainer and movement coach who has instructed countless boot camp classes, semi-private group classes, and private personal training clients.   After years of battling personal injuries, I was left feeling frustrated and hopeless; worried nothing else could be done to heal me. By fate, in 2010, I had a session with a Z-Health trainer and my knee pain was gone and never came back. I knew I wanted to teach this approach to the world.   So over the next several years I completed many courses, intense testing and training, to become one of the few master trainers in the world. The importance of brain function and using the nervous system to rapidly “debug” movement patterns, decrease pain and increase performance has lead me teach and create lightning-fast improvements with people from all walks of life. My specialties include injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, joint mobility and decreasing pain, holistically. In the last several years my focus has shifted to traveling the country to teach the importance of movement to small and large companies, educating people on the human body as a whole integrated system. email:missy@missybunchfitness.com FB:https://www.facebook.com/Missy-Bunch-Fitness-Page-178419772237334/ free movement videos: deathofthedesk.com For additional podcast from Healthy Living With Eric Su visit www.ericwsu.com/podcasts.   Remember, Eric Su’s FREE Results Coaching Strategy session: www.ericwsu.com/freecoachingcall Watch Eric Su on Facebook Live.  Visit www.facebook.com/ericwsutrainer every Friday at 9:30am CST. We have a super knowledgeable personal trainer with us today. His name is Ross Oberlin.  We will be talking about building youth athletes for the future. Ross Oberlin owns and operates RC Training and Fitness in Oak Park, IL.  He is a Functional Movement Specialist, Certified Functional Strength Coach, and Strong First Kettlebell Instructor.  Ross found his calling early, and at 31, he already has a decade of experience under his belt helping people reach their full potential. Before becoming a strength coach, Ross ran a Special Olympics program for several years.  It was here that he learned how to be an adaptable coach and how to best communicate with his athletes.  Backed with years of experience that started with training himself for wrestling and later mixed martial arts (mma), Ross found the perfect intersection his talents and passions in Strength & Conditioning. RC Training & Fitness works with both athletes and adult clients.  During the summer months, their athletes program takes center stage.  In just a few short months, the gym must help a variety of athletes from different sports with different abilities.  It’s only with a structured plan and vision, that this goal is achieved. There’s a lot of misinformation out there on youth training.  Flashy programs designed to simulate what the pros do are tempting, but can have serious consequences.  Ross is here to break down what an athlete or parent should be looking for in a Strength & Conditioning coach/facility.
