1265: The Body Keeps Score and Sets Boundaries With Laura Wieck

Mom Is In Control Podcast

"Embodiment is the wisdom that comes through from the state you're in." In this episode, Heather and Laura Wieck explore what it really means to live embodied, not as another perfectionist performance, but as a practice of honesty, presence, and listening to the wisdom already alive inside you. Through the lens of parenting a child with autism and the unraveling of old identities, this conversation opens up a powerful dialogue around the ways our bodies hold emotion, where we disconnect from ourselves in the name of 'coping', and how healing often begins with simply noticing what's true without rushing to fix it. This episode is an invitation to soften the performance, reconnect with your internal guidance, and create a way of being that feels alive from the inside out. What to listen for: ☑️ Sitting with uncomfortable emotions and seeing them as the data they are ☑️ How an autism diagnosis taught Laura more about embodied communication "So many women, especially if you're coming from perfectionism or people-pleasing, think, 'If I can get this idea of embodiment right, everything else will just fall into place.' But physiologically speaking, it actually goes the opposite way." ☑️ Our bodies store emotions in our fascia, and how to identify stuck energy ☑️ The power of embodiment is tuning into the wisdom that's already present ☑️ Understanding the three brains in our body that determine alignment "Embodiment starts with noticing the sensations that are present in your body. And the key here is to notice it without the label." ☑️ Two questions you can ask yourself to stop internalizing other people's rules ☑️ Staying connected to your body so that you can hear its wisdom and guidance ☑️ How to get back into alignment while still honoring your children's needs "The more moments you create with yourself to go there, the more you deeply trust your journey of being human and not performing your way through motherhood and life and your career." ☑️ Navigating the difficulty and emotional toll that comes with getting what you want ☑️ What our children teach us and how the body keeps the score to hold healing boundaries **** About Laura Wieck: As the Founder of BodyMind Coaching, Laura has integrated coaching with embodiment practices to help individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom and achieve holistic well-being. de Description JON LABMAN'S life's work is about helping people overcome trauma, anxiety, self-doubt and low self-esteem, while waking up to their deepest nature as the Absolute, like he did himself..Jon was traumatized at home, bullied at school, and lived in uncomprehending misery for years, including being in and out of extreme religious cults and doing many years of psychotherapy work as a client. He understands how difficult the process of change can be, because Jon lived and still lives it.He also knows how awesome the rewards of moving towards Liberation are. Jon was bound and determined to feel better, and that kept him alive and persisting through numerous 'false starts. He started working with my first psychologist at the age of 15, but didn't really take to the work until he was nearly 30. Jon started on an active spiritual path at the same time which has taken him into Judaism, evangelical and then new age Christianity, and finally into the mystical awakening traditions of the East (Hinduism, Yoga, Buddhism, etc.) He started my professional journey as an administrative and technical writing professional, but then moved into working with people, first as a Licensed Massage Therapist, where he realized that the most rewarding part of the work was listening to clients' life stories. Jon then returned to school and earned a Master's in Counseling Psychology. Since then, He's been the Director of the Trauma Treatment Program at a large agency, receiving numerous accreditations, written four books, and earned two trauma treatment certifications from the world-famous specialists Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Dr. Bruce Perry – all while seeing clients full-time. Jon also studied Energy Healing for 3 years, got a 500-hour certification as a Yoga Teacher, and began teaching meditation and spiritual awakening in 2001. For the last 23 years,Jon been helping people move from a tortured existence to a life of peace and contentment, living from the shining center or Core of who they are.    CONTACT JON LABMAN: support@simlyawaken.com

In this episode of the Scaling Wellness Podcast, I'm joined by someone who's built one of Houston's most beloved massage practices Zalla Otten, founder of Zalla Massage.   Zalla's journey is anything but ordinary. From starting out in a spare bedroom to now running a thriving practice in a cozy 105-year-old cottage in Montrose, she's grown her business to a team of 10 therapists, front desk coordinators, and a loyal client base that's made Zalla Massage one of the most-reviewed massage studios in Houston.   But what really makes Zalla stand out is her combination of entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and heart. She's not only a Licensed Massage Therapist but also a visionary studio owner who's built her practice around high standards, client-centered care, and innovative approaches to growth.   In this episode, Zalla opens up about:   How she went from working multiple jobs to launching her own practice, step by step. The unique marketing strategies that fueled her growth, from creative Groupon hacks to building a referral program that clients and partners love. The lessons (and mistakes) of hiring, managing, and building a culture that truly supports both therapists and clients. The reality of scaling up: what it's like to run a seven-figure massage business, expand to multiple locations, and navigate tough decisions when things don't go as planned. How returning to hands-on work reignited her passion, especially through fascia work and energy-focused bodywork.   Zalla's story is honest, inspiring, and packed with wisdom for any massage therapist, wellness entrepreneur, or business owner looking to grow without losing themselves along the way.   Whether you're dreaming of starting your own practice, hiring your first employee, or scaling to multiple locations, this conversation will give you the insights, tools, and encouragement you need to take your next step.   Tune in now to hear how Zalla built, stumbled, grew, and ultimately redefined success on her own terms.   Check out Zalla's website: https://zallamassage.com/ Her Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/ZallaMassage   - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  Want to build a wellness practice that gives you both TIME and MONEY? In this episode, we're exploring aromatherapy - something that's getting serious scientific attention. When we inhale essential oils, scent molecules travel directly to our brain's emotional center, creating real neurochemical changes. The research is compelling. Johns Hopkins found that certain essential oils can kill Lyme bacteria better than antibiotics. And lavender has particularly strong evidence - multiple studies show that it genuinely improves sleep quality by increasing restorative delta brain waves. The Veterans Health Administration reviewed 26 systematic studies and found moderate evidence that aromatherapy helps with pain, sleep quality, and stress management.  That's why we're excited to welcome Amy Jump-Long. JON LABMAN'S life's work is about helping people overcome trauma, anxiety, self-doubt and low self-esteem, while waking up to their deepest nature as the Absolute, like he did himself..Jon was traumatized at home, bullied at school, and lived in uncomprehending misery for years, including being in and out of extreme religious cults and doing many years of psychotherapy work as a client. He understands how difficult the process of change can be, because Jon lived and still lives it.He also knows how awesome the rewards of moving towards Liberation are. Jon was bound and determined to feel better, and that kept him alive and persisting through numerous ‘false starts. I interview Loralee about psychic stuff and things, and she offers me, and all of us, an energy healing technique that worked for me. This is a video podcast on Spotify. Thank you, Loralee! Want to know more about Loralee? "Physical complaints are the signs of a distortion in the energy flow within the person's energy field.Even though Albert Einstein stated that 'Future medicine will be the medicine of frequencies,' current traditional medical approaches actually corrupt and disrupt this further. The good news is that each of us has the ability to tap into and work with our energy system to correct those distortions and blockages of the flow. I'm going to teach you ways to tap into that ability." Loralee is a Licensed Spiritual Health Coach, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Certified Reiki Master, with special training in Meditation and Aromatherapy.  She is the creator of the Radiant Reset Program, releases stressed-out women so they can break free of deep-seated social conditioning and beliefs that keep them feeling stuck, fearful, and in poor health. For years Loralee struggled with emotional eating and digestive upsets as a result of deep-seated anxieties in her personal and professional life.  Her quest to find freedom from the pain led her to research from which she discovered the principles of natural healing, cleansing and detoxification, energy healing and holistic nutrition. Loralee brings these answers to other women so they can heal all of these issues and more by living in harmony with The Natural Laws of Health and being in alignment with their spiritually authentic self.  Often, these women also deal with gut issues and impaired digestion, brought on by stress-filled jobs and relationships (those they can ‘no longer stomach').  Loralee's process releases those jumbled emotions so they can finally find peace and relax their gut without wasting any more time, money, and energy on pills, diets and protocols that have not worked.  More about Loralee on her social media sites: Website:  https://livingwellwithloralee.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/loralee-humpherys-4959b62b3/ FB  profile page: https://www.facebook.com/loralee.humpherys Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/NourishingEssentialsConsulting Twitter: https://x.com/LoraleeH46322 Loralee's Podcast - Essentials to Heal Yourself Podcast with Loralee Humpherys https://rss.com/podcasts/essentials-to-heal-yourself/ https://www.youtube.com/@essentialstohealyourself/ https://rumble.com/c/c-2367742

Woman Power Zone

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 17, 2024 21:44

On this, the final episode of the Woman Power Zone Podcast, Ariel thanks everyone who has ever listened and finishes the series on the last two layers of the auric field. KEY TAKEAWAYS The 6th layer is the celestial body or template, this are filaments of golden light, and this layer shows a person's alignment with divine love. The experience on this level is divine love and spiritual ecstasy, feeling connected and love with source/god. The ketheric template is often brilliant white and reveals alignment with the divine consciousness. The idea on this level is to be connected to the divine mind and to understand the greater universal pattern, to understand the big picture, the higher consciousness, where are we going from here? What forms on the outer 3 layers is what ends up being created in the layers below them. When you change the outer layers you change your belief systems and behaviours at very deep levels, and permanently. These layers are definitely harder to see, but it's usually the vibe that you'll pick up off people as if they're very light, ethereal, airy, open, flowing. These are energy feelings that you get from people who have active 6th and 7th layers. BEST MOMENTS “You can read with these two layers how open people are to spirit, intuition, connecting with people on the other side, connecting with spirit guides, or whether they're psychic.” “I believe that there are other layers of the field that may exist, so if you get information on those feel free to let me know.” “When people are ready to awaken, spiritually, the outer layer become more active, if you see that happening, something powerful is going on.” “Reflect on how your life has changed or what you've learned through listening to this show.” ABOUT THE HOST Ariel is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, Empath & Psychic who has been involved in holistic healing since 1988. On this episode Ariel continues her series on the auric field, on this episode she covers how we can read what's happening for us in our relationships and what's coming up for us physically in the energy field. KEY TAKEAWAYS It's a good idea, when you're connecting with people, to get a sense of how open they are to connecting in relationships and how are they doing physically and what's coming up for them in the future.   The astral layer is the fourth auric layer and is about 1-2 feet out from the body. This layer has to do with the nature of our relationships, everything from friendships to professional relationships to connecting with other people on some level. It's unstructured and looks like blue, billowy clouds, and it's important because it's how we indicate how we relate to others but also the condition of those relationships. The need is to have a loving interaction with friends and family and to give and receive love in many types of relationships. The etheric template is the 5th layer of the auric field, it's multi-coloured and has a brighter light. It's usually about 3-4 feet out from the body and it to do with what's happening with the physical body. You can learn something about what's coming up for the body in the future, if someone's going to get sick or healthy, by reading this layer. It also reveals alignment with divine will. The etheric template can influence the state of the etheric body which in turn influences the physical body. Our ability to flow with divine will shows up in this layer. It's really important to align with divine will, when you do that your life is a lot more harmonious. A way to feel and connect to the divine flow is to keep energy open in this 5th layer of your field. BEST MOMENTS “The third body in a relationship is the energy that's combined between the two people, it can be enhanced with physical intimacy between the two people, but you can also injure it.” “A lot of people's astral layers have been damaged by covid, either they shut down and don't want to open back up or, in children, haven't learned how to have good relationships with other people.” “Relationships are really key to enhance the flow of money as well as the flow of love and caring.” “If you want to be healthy long term you need to clear, charge, balance and harmonise the etheric template.” ABOUT THE HOST Ariel is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, Empath & Psychic who has been involved in holistic healing since 1988. On this episode Ariel continues her series on the auric field, on this episode she covers the first 3 layers of the auric field which have to do with what's happening in your physical body, your feelings, and in your thoughts. KEY TAKEAWAYS The energy field is very complex, it can change shape and colour millions of times in just a few minutes. Sadly, we don't have very good equipment to measure or evaluate it. Auras are real, people feel them and react to them all the time they just don't know they are. Any time you pick up on someone's vibes/energy you're felling someone's aura. When you're trained to do energy work you can actually help people change their belief systems by changing what's occurring in their auric field. You're changing the blueprint of what's happening so that it can change inside of that person's physical body. Everybody's fields vary in size, when people say you have a big energy, that usually means that someone's energy field is around 6 feet out – double the usual size. Small energy is the energy is contracted and insular, they've turned inward. The etheric layer, the first layer, is about 1-2 inches out (12 inches in some people). The second layer, the emotional body is usually 2-6 inches out depending on the person. The third layer – the mind – is usually about 6-12 inches out. So, they're all usually within the first foot of a person. The layers are structured with gridlines which can be smooth and organised, but when their health isn't well they can be distorted on the first and second layers. When they have negative thoughts or unclear thinking the gridlines can be distorted in the third layer. BEST MOMENTS “When I switch on the aura camera when I'm giving reiki, you can see beams of light shooting out of my hands, it's amazing.” “The colours vary per person; blue can mean one thing for one person and something else for another.” “When people say they're living their best life that expression describes our highest level of manifestation, perfection and well-being. TPP 368: Autum Romano on the Safe and Sound Protocol & Nervous System Regulation

If I told you there was a passive intervention that could help your kiddo and your family increase the window of tolerance in the way the world is received, would you believe me? Well today, I'm sharing a conversation on exactly that — it's called the Safe and Sound Protocol, and it's essentially a therapeutic listening program designed to support emotional regulation and neuroception. I was first introduced to SSP by a therapist our family was working with and I wanted to know more about how it works, and how it can support kids who have what Dr. Mona Delahooke refers to as a less-sturdy nervous system platform. I reached out to educator, author, and bodyworker Autum Romano to join me for this conversation, as she is passionate about nervous system regulation as a foundation for transformative whole health. Autum, who is also neurodivergent and twice-exceptional, is known for her intuitive healing approach. She recently collaborated with Dr. Porges on a case study for his upcoming book on the benefits of the Safe and Sound Protocol, and last year published her own childrens' book called Body Wisdom and the Polyvagal Theory, which introduces polyvagal theory in an easy-to-understand way. In this conversation, we talk about what neuroception is and why it's critical to helping our kids develop a felt sense of safety, as well as what the Safe and Sound Protocol actually is. She explains how it essentially re-patterns the brain's nervous system through listening, creates a safe space for brain and body integration, and leads to impactful, long-lasting results. This is a fascinating conversation about polyvagal, neuroception, and nervous system support that definitely left me wanting to know, and experience, more. I hope you get a lot out of it.   About Autum Romano Autum Romano is an educator, author, and bodyworker who's passionate about nervous system regulation as a foundation for transformative whole health. Autum holds certifications as a Neuromuscular Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist, Safe and Sound Protocol Provider, Craniosacral Therapist, Reiki Master, and Certified Trauma Informed Care Provider with over 27 years in the field and more than 25,000 massages given. Known for her intuitive healing approach, Autum is also neurodivergent and twice-exceptional. She recently collaborated with Dr. Porges on a case study for his upcoming book on the benefits of the Safe and Sound Protocol. In collaboration with her son, Autum has authored a children's book titled Body Wisdom and the Polyvagal Theory. Crafted for pre-readers and individuals with dyslexia, their goal is to democratize the Polyvagal Theory, viewing it as a user manual for the body. They aim to make this valuable knowledge accessible to a diverse and inclusive audience.   Things you'll learn: How neuroception works to detect safety or threat without conscious awareness The ways in which body work can help individuals understand their neuroception What the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is and how it stimulates the ventral branch of the vagus nerve through music The benefits of going through the SSP on our kids' window of tolerance and nervous system How Autum's book Body Wisdom and the Polyvagal Theory introduces polyvagal theory to kids of all ages   Resources mentioned: Autum Romano's website Autum on Instagram Autum on Facebook Body Wisdom and the Polyvagal Theory by Autum Romano Dr. Stephen Porges and Polyvagal Theory Safe and Sound Protocol My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies by Resmaa Menakem Deb Dana's website, Rhythm of Regulation Anchored: How to Befriend Your Nervous System Using Polyvagal Theory by Deb Dana Deb Dana on Befriending Our Nervous System Using Polyvagal Theory (Tilt Parenting Podcast) To receive 10 percent of Autum's Safe & Sound Protocol Home Program, use the code TILT Learn more about your ad choices.
