Trill kicks things off by breaking down Kentucky's heartbreaking loss to Tennessee in the Elite 8, before the duo makes their predictions on who will make the upcoming championship game. After some college hoops talk, the conversation shifts to the Yankees' controversial new torpedo bats. The guys speculate on how long MLB will allow New York to get away with this innovation before stepping in to ban it. On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, we look at an American League-heavy schedule for the Dodgers to close out August and start September. We also catch up on the progress of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who threw a simulated game last week in St. Louis and will likely throw a few more. He could conceivably pitch a few times in September as a possible October tuneup. The Three-Inning Save is part of the Fans First Sports Network. EPISODE 244: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: Do the Republican leaders know WHERE their fugitive foreign agent Gal Luft is? Does Senator Ron Johnson – demanding immunity for Luft so that this multi-national con-man can testify to the House – know Where Gal Luft is? Does Chairman James Comer – still insisting Luft must testify despite the damning revelation that he has been under indictment in this country for 20 months for allegedly bribing a Trump Advisor on behalf of Chinese interests – does Chairman Comer know where Gal Luft is? Does Congresswoman Nancy Mace – still on board the sinking Luft ship and calling him quote “our witness” and promising “we are going to work as hard as we can and deliver as much evidence as we can to the American people so that they can decide whether or not Joe Biden should be in prison” – does Representative Mace know where Gal Luft is? And if the answer to any of these questions is yes – or the answer to the question “do any of them know how to reach him through intermediaries” is yes – then why have they not communicated to the proper authorities the whereabouts of this FUGITIVE FROM THE AMERICAN JUSTICE SYSTEM AND FOREIGN SPY – and why has the Department of Justice not questioned them about what they know about Gal Luft What do the Republicans know about Gal Luft and how long have they known it? ALSO: Jack Smith's gang goes back to work, the Fani Willis Grand Jury is impaneled in Atlanta, and incredibly the DOJ is defending Trump in the Peter Strzok/Lisa Page lawsuit because it's not like Trump is trying to end representative government in this country by manipulating the law or anything. B-Block (17:19) IN SPORTS: We had that rarest of sporting events last night: one in which THE highlight was carried off by…the fans in the stands at the Baseball All-Star Game in Seattle and what they chanted. It is staggering to realize that the telecast of 1980 Game was watched by roughly five times as many fans as watched the one last night – and the population was a third smaller in 1980. There are lots of reasons (the players are not playing to win; the stars don't show up; gone are the days when 9 of the 10 All Star MVP Awards between 1963 and 1972 went to Hall of Famers). But the real reason the game is now meaningless is that baseball threw away the greatest organic gift it was ever given. For 96 seasons, the owners, players, and fans of the American League HATED the fans of the National League, and vice versa. Happily baseball was good enough to throw that away and reduce the two Leagues to bookkeeping arrangements by introducing Interleague Play so they could sell some New York Subway Series caps. (30:25) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Senator Tommy Tuberville doubles down in defense of White Nationalists, then suddenly reverses and says they are racists, then disappears. Congressman Jim Jordan wants to move the FBI Headquarters to Alabama. And this is the kind of man you want leading the free world: the dark horse Republican presidential candidate who will pay you TWENTY dollars if you will donate ONE dollar to his campaign. How does he do it? Volume! Volume! Volume! C-Block (35:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Baseball used to matter so much that local Los Angeles TV sportscasters used to make up crazy conspiracy stories about it, to try to get ratings. Let me tell you of two mind-blowing stunts told by two of my rivals in just my first year doing the sports on the local news in LA nearly 40 years ago: the guy who told his viewers to call a hotel and harass the manager of the All-Star team whom he believed had insulted a local Angels player, and the other guy who insisted that even though the L.A. Dodgers lost the 1985 playoffs they should show up anyway to the World Series and demand to play, because HE and HE ALONE had discovered that the home run that beat them wasn't a home run at all!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Current EventsSeahawks: The NFL draft is looming and mock drafts are carrying more and more weight. Huskies corner! Sav'ell Smalls announced he's entering the transfer portal. He was a standout two-way player at Garfield HS and a highly sought after 5-star recruit. His freshman year was truncated by COVID 19 and then ZTF and Jeremiah Martin emerged. He didn't see a lot of playing time. Sav'ell is a beast of an athlete and chose UW over his pick of blue chip programs. Montlake owes him a lot of gratitude and we hope he fluorishes in his next destination. He ends his Dawgs career with 32 tackles, 1 TFL, 0 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. What's Kraken!? Main Event | -The Seattle Mariners can't hit and sometimes they can't pitch.- No extra innings games in the past week, thank goodness. - M's came home and swept the sorry ass Rockies, outscorign them 15-5 in a 3 game set. - JK continues to be hot, he's 8th in the AL in WAR ahead of Trout and Rafael Devers. - In his last 7 games, Kelenic is batting 391/462/1000 with 4 HR and 6 RBI. He's a machine. - On the flipside, Julio is slumping. In that same time frame he's hitting 172/250/379 with a 2b a 3b and a HR. Funny how that's a slump. - His BABIP is abysmal over this time probably due to a slight uptick in flyballs. He's hitting the ball hard, they're just dying before the warning track. - NOW FOR THE PITCHING: First things first. Luis Castillo should be the AL CY favorite right now. He spun another gem last sunday going 18 up, 18 down through 6. He wound up going 7, 2H 9K no walks. We won 1-0. - Kirby and Tommy Milone (who was filling in for new father Marco Gonzales, both pitched well agianst the rockies too. Chris flexen's turn came up against the Brewers last night and aside from an early inning meltdown, he pitched well enough for us to win. Unfortunately it was Penn Murfee's turn to let the team down when he relieved Flex in the 7th - The Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball and have the best run differential for any team that didn't start the season on a 13 game win streak. It's okay to falter a little against a former CY winner, but we can't get swept. - Adam let's keep track of the performance of this offseason's "big acquisitions" i.e. Wong, La Stella, Hernandez and Pollock. I've done some excel wizardry and created a table I can update and it'll spit out their combine slash line. Robby's Hot Take (5 second intro music... 30 seconds w/ 2 mins of discussion and banter) | They have 45 road points but only 33 home points. 21 road wins is 2nd only to the New Jersey Devils, who have 23. It might be in the team's best on-ice interest to wind up a 6 seed than 3 or 4 in the west, but is it in the franchise's? | Lightning Round 2 Listener Questions!
Chuck Heinz and Jamie Lent recap the wind in Lubbock area yesterday, interleague play in MLB, spots in Las Vegas, players to take a step forward for the Tech football team next year and construction on the south end of Jones Stadium.
GRAHAM THREATENS RIOTS IF TRUMP IS PROSECUTED A BLOCK: SPECIAL COMMENT (1:47) Senator Lindsay Graham (R-NC) has actually gone on television and threatened the peace and security of this nation with "riots in the streets" if Trump is prosecuted for mishandling classified documents (3:03) He must resign, be expelled, or censured (4:10) If you get your "riots in the streets, Senator, who has the law on their side, and the National Guard? These insurrectionists never stop to think their acts of violence would not be crushed (5:35) It's being done to try to blackmail the Department of Justice into letting Trump escape though he has compromised the "Human Intelligence Control System" and risked the lives of countless American agents and sources around the world (6:20) and must be prosecuted under 18 USC Code 794, the Espionage Act. (7:20) CIA notified all its stations last September of high number of agents and sources being "captured or killed" (8:26) This is not the first timeline suggestive of Trump jeopardizing American lives. 2019 Trump/Putin/List of Spies timeline detailed. B BLOCK: EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY (20:26) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS (21:51) Biden approval, new "Covid Shot," Doug Mastriano in Confederate Uniform, Marsha Blackburn and "The Taiwans," anti-abortion leader charged with soliciting sex from minors, Ron Johnson says people in Wisconsin thinks he's a "tool of Putin." (25:03) IN SPORTS: No I didn't buy it; Adidas doesn't believe Fernando Tatis Jr; new MLB 2023 schedule underscores how baseball killed The World Series by killing the independence of the two Leagues. (33:43) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Junior Trump, Kim Crockett, Marco Rubio vie for honors. C BLOCK: THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL (38:00) How James Gandolfini influenced the conception and the writing of the first "Special Comment" 16 years ago, and the horrible night I knew of Gandolfini's passing before it was announced. And I apologize: I discovered too late I misidentified Lorraine Bracco as "Elaine." See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Interleague play has been a part of MLB since 1997. This season there will be 20 interleague games for each team. We think that's too many and that winning a playoff spot should not be so dependent on performance against the OTHER league. With expansion on the horizon there will almost assuredly no longer be a need to have an interleague game played nearly every day. There are some interleague rivalries worth keeping but do fans really want to watch their favorite teams play 20 interleague games each season?
