Hello beautiful people On today's podcast we have the beautifully vulnerable and open, Mike Cazayoux. Mike is a back-to-back CrossFit World Cup Champion, and entrepreneur, co-founding Brute Strength, a company that specialises in developing physical training programs, having himself personally trained A-list athletes, which he sold in 2018 and moved into the role of President of Working Against Gravity, and most recently started a new business, called Soul Searching Adventures. What I personally love about this podcast is Mike's genuine transparency. We speak about some pretty raw and real topics, such as his experience with addiction that started at a very young age stemming from an intense desire to fit in. I really honour Mike's openness in this discussion, as he shares that at points in his life he was really ashamed of who he was and his behaviour. But like he so timely shared, in the words of Brene Brown, shame only grows in secrecy, silence and judgment. We speak about being a CrossFit Champion and the identity crisis that tends to evidently follow any form of sports achievement-based lifestyle change, and we speak about Soul Searching Adventures, and his full circle experience from being a young kid who initially participated in wilderness therapy as part of rehab, to now providing men with an unforgettable adventurous experience that teaches survival skills, provides greater clarity and peace of mind, and the opportunity of bonding with other men. Mike ends with two important questions for reflection which I encourage us all to actively take part in.If you are enjoying this podcast, please rate, review, share with friends and family, become part of the To Be Human Collective, and tune in to the lovely Mike Cazayoux.Connect with MeMindset Coaching | https://www.jennahlouise.com.auInstagram Personal | https://www.instagram.com/jennah_louiseConnect with MikeInstagram | https://www.instagram.com/michaelcazayoux Website | https://michaelcaz.com/
Tessa Brown and Mechelle Roberthon joined Discover Lafayette to discuss how workplace leaders should lead. Through wit and humor, they share their expertise in how managers can best engage with frontline workers to set up companies for success. From the pandemic’s impacts on work-life to positive employee-employer relationships, Brown and Roberthon are expert human resource and talent development experts. Lafayette native and LSU grad Tessa Brown serves as the Human Resources manager for CCI Piping Systems and has a strong passion for helping small businesses . “There’s nothing like a family-owned business,” Brown said, and she loves working with the Cazayoux family who owns CCI Piping. Brown enjoys volunteering with the Acadiana Society for Resource Management ("SHRM"), as well as the SHRM statewide council. Vice President and Director of Talent Development for Home Bank, Mechelle Roberthon received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in arts and humanities and behavioral sciences. "I am a diehard Rajun Cajun fan and alum!" Roberthon has a Master of Science in training and performance improvement from Capella University and is pursuing a doctorate of education in learning and organizational change from Baylor University. She moved to Lafayette from Alexandria 15 years ago to attend UL-Lafayette and that's when she met her future husband. “We are never leaving South Louisiana, we’re just not leaving,” Roberthon said. Fresh out of college, her start was in the non-profit sector. Whether it's working with Acadiana Shelter for Girls or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, Roberthon enjoys helping others succeed. Through this, she quickly found her calling for talent development. Along with her work for Home Bank, she’s involved with The Association of Talent Development (formerly known as the American Society of Training and Development). Brown and Roberthon began working together at a corporate training center in 2014, where Brown was the Human Resources Manager and Roberthon was the Talent Development Instructor. They quickly realized that they shared a similar passion for human and talent development. “People are people…the company is made up of people, no matter what the size,” Brown said, “Once you develop that talent, the sky is the limit.” Brown's passion is working with people and believes that if employers can build a great workplace, a great place to go every day, "think of all the amazing things you can do!" “Human Resources and Talent Development skills are transferable to any industry, which is why I can move from healthcare to banking and Tessa can move from corporate development to manufacturing, because people are people. My personal tagline is 'I develop people who are responsible for developing the business," Roberthon stated. She further noted that businesses can’t exist without the people who make the brand valuable and explained that it just takes one person in a company of any size to make or break the company's brand and reputation. It's critical to develop the talent in workers who stand on the front lines representing the company and interacting with the consumer. And, a good working environment will positively enhance the mood of a person as they leave the workplace and go home to family and friends (and the dog!). To be effective, the creation of a positive workplace will include intentional and meaningful engagement and development of the employees, coming from employers who are genuinely interested in the best environment and work culture for their staff. Motherhood is what you make it. You don’t have sex after having a baby. Date nights are thrown out of the window. You lose your identity in being a mom, and you’ll only hang out with people who have kids. Do any of these sound familiar? There are so many generalizations about life after having a baby, but there are some women out there who are redefining motherhood for themselves. One of those people is today’s guest, Adee Cazayoux. Adee is the founder and CEO of Working Against Gravity and she’s one of the first guests we’ve ever had on the show. Back in episode 4, she and her husband shared their secrets on why and how they maintain a strong and unified partnership. Today, Adee is back to talk about some of those things, but through the lens of being 7 months postpartum. We talk about keeping your identity while also being a great mother, how motherhood has changed her marriage, how she and her husband navigate new responsibilities, and how they keep intimacy at the forefront of their lives. How does Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Katrin Davidsdottir & Brooke Wells handle their nutrition? They call Adee Zukier Cazayoux. Adee is the founder of a nutrition program called Working Against Gravity that is used by a TON of high level athletes as well as thousands of other people. On Episode 198 Adee drops by to talk to us about the importance of tracking macros, why calories DO count, how remote coaching is awesome and why being balanced is almost impossible if you are chasing greatness and much much more. This is a great one gang. Make sure you check it out. Adee Zukier Cazayoux is known as the "Barbell Gypsy," you can find Adee weightlifting, bobsledding, powerlifting, or competing in the NPGL or the CrossFit open. In her childhood, Adee struggled with her weight and found herself at 16 years old, 45 lbs overweight and leading an unhealthy and unhappy life. After some encouragement from her mother she decided to make a change. With the help of Natalie Bean-Sole (Nutrition Forever), she gained control of her body and diet and discovered a new passion — nutrition. More recently, Adee has gained an immense amount of knowledge from working with other nutrition consultants known for creating "macro counting" diets and helping athletes lose fat. Continuously advancing her knowledge, Adee has completed her Precision Nutrition Level 1 and is constantly researching and studying to become better in her field. As an athlete Adee has studied/trained under many renowned coaches, most notably Aimee Everett, national champion, Travis Mash, world champion powerlifter, and Steve Sandor, Hungarian national champion. You've probably heard of CrossFit, but my world champion guest today takes it to another level. Michael Cazayoux is CEO of brUTE Strength Training, which teaches people how to train to become a world champion CrossFitter. By the way, Michael is a two-time world champion for CrossFit. With his team, he won the CrossFit Affiliate World Cup Championship in 2012 and 2013. But when he started CrossFit, he was getting last place in his classes every day. “I'm not a freak athlete that walked into the gym and was crushing everybody,” he tells me in this episode. Michael says he believes any average person can become more if they put in the time and effort, a mentality that applies in fitness, business, and life. I talk to Michael about what you can do to get in shape quickly and stay in shape. We go over some of the techniques he's used to increase his physical, mental, and emotional fitness. His fitness, you could say, crosses multiple areas of his life. The key sticking point to get in shape, he says, is to get into a solid routine. A routine helps you trust yourself more and builds confidence. If you feel like business has taken out of you the desire to remain physically fit, listen up. If you would like to work out more but feel like you don't have time, this episode's for you. And if you find yourself slipping on fitness goals you set for yourself, Michael has something you need to hear. Click play on the player above to begin. Listen to this episode to hear Michael Cazayoux, CrossFit world champion and CEO of Brute Strength Training, tell how to get in shape quickly and effectively and more: Overcoming drug addiction to become a world champion. Sports performance psychology and the link to failed fitness resolutions. How many minutes per day you should work into your routine for fitness. (It's not as many as you may think necessary.) Why you should pay attention to your personality type when setting up your diet and exercise routines. Goal-setting that won't make you feel like giving up too soon.
