Send us a textThis is a special devotional reading that I recorded for my best friends Rochelle, Nouke and Detris.  The devotional that I felt God wants me to share and dedicate to my friends and anyone who are celebrating their birthdays either today or this month are two of my life verses. The 1st verse that the Holy Spirit wants me to share is from Proverbs 3:5-6 and the last verse is Jeremiah 29:11. God wants me to remind everyone to Trust God and know that He wants what is best for us because He wants us to have a future and a hope that we can only get through Him.I also would like to say thank you to Annette for being my sister in Christ and doing this podcast with me and thank you to all our family, friends and all of our listeners and supporters who had been supporting us for four years now. We wouldn't be able to do this without God and all of you so thank you and my birthday wish is that God gives us wisdom to share God's message to all of you. Again, Happy birthday to everyone who are celebrating their birthday this month.Connect with us through our Social Media Links:Email us at cometojesuswithannette.mahal@gmail.com Twitter and Instagram: @AnnetteMahal FB: Come to Jesus You can also send us a voice message if you are listening in Spotify or by sending your questions or comments to (571)601-0067. A Word With You
Meeting Jesus, Daily Light - #10185

A Word With You

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 23, 2026

At first, Rob's friends thought he was avoiding them. They'd ask him to go somewhere and he'd say, "Sorry, I can't." Eventually he told them why he couldn't go. He had something much more important to do. He would just say, "I've got to go to my meeting." Not too many teenagers would choose going to a meeting over going with their friends, but Rob made a good choice. See, Rob is a teenage drug addict, and he's being rehabilitated through a 12-step program modeled after Alcoholics Anonymous. One important key to fighting his problem is attending that support group meeting several times a week. A few months ago he went back to cocaine. He had stopped going to the meetings. Actually, all of us addicts, like you and me, will only make it if we make the meetings. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Meeting Jesus, Daily Light." Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Mark 1. I'm going to begin reading at verse 35, as we get a look inside some of the intimate side of the life of Jesus Christ. It says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed." Simon and his companions went to look for Him. And when they found Him, they said, 'Everyone is looking for You.' Jesus replied, 'Let us go somewhere else - to the nearby villages - so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.' So He traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons." Now, in this passage, Jesus is doing what He does repeatedly in the gospels. He is modeling the highest priority of a busy schedule. And here is His highest priority - a regular one-on-one meeting with the Heavenly Father. If Jesus did it, we cannot possibly say we've got an excuse for not doing it. Scripture is filled with examples of this. Moses getting up to meet God in His tent of meeting. David saying, "Early will I seek You. Satisfy us in the morning with your love." You see, we need our meeting because of our addiction. We're all earth addicts; we're hooked on this world's ideas. We're hooked on this world's entertainment. We're hooked on this world's ways of treating people. We're all sin addicts as well. After following Christ for a while, Paul says, "The things that I want to do, I do not do. The things I don't want to do, I keep on doing" (Romans 7:15). We're addicted to sin. We're addicted to earth. Now, the 12-step dependency programs recognize that you can't change without regularly going to the support group meetings. Now, our support group is a support person. We cannot stay away from sin unless we have our meeting - yeah, our meeting with God - regularly. The day you skip your meeting is the day you start to slip. We're not talking about some legalistic ritual where you have check the box Christianity: read my Bible and prayed. No, not doing your duty. It's a love thing. I must be with my Lord because I love Him; I want to be faithful to Him, not unfaithful. I need to plug into His power this day, picking up fresh manna for this day, getting His daily dose of strength for this day, getting His guidance for this day. I need that to fight my addiction to sin this day and my addiction to earth stuff. Yeah, today. See, I've been hooked on things that hurt me, things that hurt others, things that hurt God. We were all addicts, and we just can't afford to miss those meetings. So, did you show up for yours today?

The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast

Discipleship isn't a title; it's a trail. When Jesus walked the shores of Galilee, He didn't hand out pamphlets or build a following through social media. He looked a few fishermen straight in the eyes and said two words that changed everything:“Follow Me.”That's it. No marketing pitch. No promise of comfort. Just a call — and an invitation to leave everything behind for something greater.Following Jesus isn't about location — it's about direction. Every disciple starts the same way: walking away from self and walking toward the Savior.I still remember the day that truth hit home. I'd been a Christian for years, but I was still driving the car while asking God to bless my route. Then one morning, the Holy Spirit convicted me hard: “Matthew, I can't lead what you won't surrender.”That's when I realized being a disciple isn't about asking Jesus to walk with me; it's about me walking wherever He's going — even if it's uncomfortable.Michelle and I have lived this out over and over. From ministry highs to financial struggles, from seasons of clarity to moments of silence — we've had to decide: Will we trust Him when the map runs out? Will we still follow when it costs us pride, plans, or comfort? The answer had to be yes — because discipleship is not a once-a-week commitment. It's a daily death and daily resurrection.Luke 9:23 says, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”Notice that word — daily. Discipleship isn't about perfection; it's about persistence. You won't get every step right, but every step you take with Jesus changes you. The disciples weren't perfect men — they argued, doubted, ran, and failed. But here's the difference: they kept following.Every day, you and I wake up in a world screaming, “Follow your heart.” But Jesus says, “Follow Me.” And that one command flips everything. When you follow your heart, you'll end up lost. When you follow Jesus, you'll find your heart's true home.Maybe your path today looks uncertain — your marriage tested, your kids wandering, your faith stretched thin. Following Jesus doesn't mean you won't face storms. It means when the wind howls, you've got the One who commands it walking beside you. When Michelle and I look back at the times we tried to carry everything ourselves — our ministry, our dreams, our disappointments — we see the same pattern. Every time we surrendered control, peace came back. Every time we followed His whisper instead of our worry, doors opened we didn't even know existed. That's what discipleship looks like — obedience over outcome.

Before we end, Maddie also shared a life verse in her heart which is Isaiah 41:10 and she explains what this verse means to her and how it can also be your life verse and how it can help you or anyone when they are going through something. Our prayer is by listening to Maddie's testimony that if you haven't accepted Christ in your life that you will not wait for tomorrow's never promise and that you will accept Jesus in your life as your personal savior. We also pray that you will have a genuine and intimate relationship with Him and to Fear because there is nothing to fear when you have God to defend you and give you the peace and joy that only God can give you the strength that you need and just like Maddie said that God will send someone in our life that will comfort and help us grow with our spiritual walk and to comfort us when we need someone. Our hope and prayer besides accepting Christ as your savior is that you also find a good church and that you find an accountability partner or sister or brother in Christ to help you with your walk with God. We would love to hear from you so feel free to share with us your feedback on our episode and if you have any questions either to me or to Maddie feel free to message us in any of our social media links.Thank you again for listening and always remember to Come to Jesus Daily!Connect with us through our Social Media Links:Email us at cometojesuswithannette.mahal@gmail.com Twitter and Instagram: @AnnetteMahal FB: Come to JesusYou can help support our podcast ministry and partner with us reach further to build God's Kingdom by either giving a onetime donation to our coffee podcast ministry or be a part of our monthly supporters. It's Day 27 of our journey through the scriptures, where we aim to do more than simply read the Bible in a year; our true desire is to experience the transformative love and life of Jesus. Today, we'll be exploring Exodus chapters 17 through 20 and Acts chapter 3. We'll delve into the Israelites' journey, Moses' leadership, the Ten Commandments, and the miraculous healing of a lame man by Peter and John. Join us as we uncover the deeper truths and applications of these passages. We are so glad you're here. Let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He sees us and makes us upright. As Peter and John were heading through the gates called Beautiful, they encountered a man who had been lame from birth. This man wasn't just looking for charity; he was desperately searching for someone to truly see him. And Peter and John, following the example of Jesus, chose to see him. They looked beyond his immediate plea for money, beyond the exterior desperation, and into the man's deeper need. Peter's words, "Look at us," carried much more than the promise of alms. They were an invitation to be recognized and valued. Peter saw the deeper truth of this man's need, not just for alms, but for restoration. Peter didn't offer silver or gold, but something far greater - a declaration of the transformative power of Christ. Peter's compassion was not manipulated; it was stirred by the Spirit to bring healing. When Peter said, "In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk," it was a profound statement of what Jesus offers to each of us. The man's physical healing pointed to a deeper reality, the need for every human soul to walk upright before God. The gospel is not merely transactional; it's a declaration of our identity in Christ. We are not beggars, not castoffs, but children of God included in His covenant promises. When Peter reached out his hand, it was a gesture of the gospel's power to restore, to raise us up to walk as people reconciled to God. In the same way, Jesus sees us, and through Him, we are made whole. Though we may feel like beggars at times, seeking scraps of compassion, Jesus offers us life in abundance, calling us to stand upright as His beloved children. Allow Jesus to look into your life today, to take you by the hand, and lift you up to walk with confidence as a redeemed and cherished child of God. That's the essence of His love for us, the profound truth of the gospel. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL
