The fascinating intersections of circadian biology, quantum health, and women's wellness really come alive as I sit down with Neurosurgeon-turned-Quantum-Biologist Dr. Jack Kruse. You'll hear how simple things, like the light you see first thing in the morning, quietly shape your hormones, energy, and even how you age. Dr. Jack's decades of surgical and biophysical knowledge make these concepts surprisingly practical for everyday health. By the end, you may find yourself rethinking your daily routines in the best way.   Together, we get into why AM sunlight can make such a big difference for women going through hormonal changes, especially around menopause. Dr. Jack breaks down big ideas like heteroplasmy in simple, eye-opening terms and shows how it plays into skin health, longevity, and mitochondrial function. You'll also hear why red light deserves a place in your wellness routine, and how blue light and non-native EMFs might be draining more than just your battery.   If you've ever struggled with weight changes, low energy, or hormonal shifts, you'll appreciate Dr. Jack's explanation of the leptin-melanocortin pathway and what it means for women at every age. His own 150-pound weight-loss story adds real heart to the science and shows how much can change when your environment starts working for you instead of against you. This episode delivers a mix of empowering insights and simple shifts you can start today for better vitality.   And before you go, make sure to download my Free Holiday Recipe Guide, a delicious, hormone-friendly way to enjoy festive, Keto-Green dishes all season long at dranna.com.   Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction. In this powerful episode of the Healthy Hustle Podcast, Rachel sits down with Dr. Patrick K. Porter, a neuroscience expert, inventor of BrainTap®, and founder of BrainTap Technologies. With decades of experience helping over 120,000 people—including pro athletes, veterans, and high achievers—Dr. Porter shares practical, science-backed strategies to boost focus, improve sleep, and build resilience so you can show up as your best self in life and business. His work blends brainwave science, visualization, and neuroplasticity to make peak mental performance achievable for everyone. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck in chronic stress, this conversation is a MUST listen. Dr. Porter breaks down complex brain science into simple, actionable steps that anyone can use—starting today. What You'll Learn in This Episode 1. Your Brain Is More Powerful Than You Realize How every cell in your body is constantly "listening" to your environment—thoughts, foods, people, light, sound, and stress—and mirroring it back through your biology. Why your DNA is continually updating based on how you perceive life: as a threat or as a challenge. 2. Why Stress Isn't Just a "Mindset" Problem The link between chronic stress and disrupted neurotransmitters, sleep cycles, gut health, and blood sugar. Why Dr. Porter says we don't have a mental health crisis—we have a physiological crisis. 3. Brainwaves 101: Understanding Your Inner Operating System Dr. Porter breaks down: Beta – reactionary, can be tied to fear, frustration, anxiety. Alpha – daydreaming, creativity, presence, flow. Theta – deep relaxation, super-learning, memory integration. Delta – deep sleep and brain detox. Gamma – the "bass drum" that helps keep the whole brain orchestra in sync. You'll hear how modern life pushes many people out of balance—and what that looks like in everyday symptoms (brain fog, burnout, poor focus, anxiety). 4. The Science Behind BrainTap® You'll learn how BrainTap uses light, sound, and vibration to: Support brainwave balance Increase ATP (cellular energy) Improve sleep architecture and deep delta sleep Regulate the nervous system Support gut-brain communication and overall resilience Dr. Porter also dives into: Red light therapy and mitochondrial energy Circadian rhythms and why timing of sleep matters Why a 2 PM "reboot" can increase productivity by 26% 5. A Daily BrainCare Routine You Can Start Now Dr. Porter outlines a simple structure you can plug into your day: Morning: a short "digital coffee" BrainTap session to energize the brain without relying on caffeine. Midday (around 2 PM): a 20-minute reboot session to reset your nervous system and restore focus. Evening: a session that guides your brain into delta for deeper, more restorative sleep. Plus, a simple 4–8 breathing practice before bed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Try BrainTap Free Dr. Porter offers a 14-day free trial of the BrainTap app. No headset required to start Just your phone + audio Most people report noticeably better sleep by night three

What if your body isn't just a collection of organs, but a living, self-organizing field of light, water, and energy? In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, Ben and Mike sit down with Nikko Kennedy, Director of Research at the Institute of Applied Quantum Biology, to explore the frontier where circadian health meets quantum biology.Nikko explains how quantum physics underlies the biological processes of life, from the way mitochondria generate energy to how our cells structure water. She reveals why the body doesn't actually produce “waste,” how light and darkness regulate healing, and why technology must evolve to harmonize with our natural frequencies. The conversation travels from circadian disruption and mitochondrial optimization to birth physiology, environmental design, and consciousness, all viewed through the lens of applied quantum biology.Listeners will learn:Why circadian rhythm and light exposure shape everything from sleep to hormones to moodHow quantum effects like electron tunneling occur inside our mitochondriaWhat a “minimum effective dose” of darkness really means for mental and physical healthThe surprising connection between mitochondrial density and personalityWhy red light, grounding, and structured water matter more than you thinkFrom dark retreats to sunlight therapy, maternal health to quantum coherence, this wide-ranging discussion invites you to reimagine what it means to tend to your terrain at the most fundamental level of reality.Learn more about Nikko and her work at https://www.iaqb.foundation/ and https://nikkokennedy.com/ and follow her on SubStack at https://www.brighterdaysdarkernights.com/ and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/brighterdays.darkernights/Support Terrain Theory on Patreon! Panda notes that evening light and late eating can make it harder to fall asleep and may work against healthy glucose control, while thoughtful timing of activity can improve energy and rest. He highlights that when we take medicines matters because the body's response changes across the day. Travel and shift work challenge these rhythms, but simple habits with light exposure, meal timing, and sleep can ease the strain. Panda also describes ongoing efforts testing practical routines, including limited daily eating windows paired with light and activity strategies. Our circadian rhythms are all thrown off right now with Daylight Savings Time (not because of Nature but because of our silly illusions about time lol.) In this illuminating episode, we explore one of the most overlooked pillars of human health - daylight. Two centuries ago, humans spent 90% of their time outdoors. Today, we spend 90% of our lives inside, and it's taking a silent toll on our health, performance, and happiness. Our guest, Tony Macken, a lifelong advocate for outdoor living and workplace wellbeing, shares how modern lifestyles and indoor professions — especially in industries like hospitality — are disrupting our circadian rhythms, the biological clocks that govern our sleep, energy, and mental health. Quoting Professor Russell Foster of Oxford University, he reminds us: “Circadian rhythm underpins every aspect of our health. We ignore it at our peril.” From his experience as a Samaritan volunteer to his belief in goal-setting, mindfulness, and outdoor adventure (including plans to go snowboarding for his 70th birthday!), this conversation is a masterclass in reconnecting with nature, and with ourselves. Join us as we uncover how sunlight, sleep, and self-awareness can transform not just personal wellbeing, but workplace culture for the future.

Together, they explore why embracing the dark may be the key to restoring your melatonin rhythm, healing adrenal fatigue, and boosting mitochondrial health this season. You'll learn how our biology shifts during winter, why being more ketogenic and aligned with shorter days supports metabolic healing, and whether we really need to supplement with vitamin D—or if nature already built the answer into the circadian rhythm itself. Building Your Voltage: The Thyroid-Gut-Circadian TriangleWelcome back to the Rewilded Wellness podcast! In this episode, we dive deep into one of the most foundational aspects of human health: building your cellular voltage — and why it's the key to supporting your thyroid, gut, and overall circadian biology.I share my personal story of recovery after leaving a water-damaged home, a period when every small trigger — from sneezing to brain fog — reminded me how vulnerable my body had become. In that season, I learned the hard truth: quick fixes don't work. Real healing requires creating an environment where your body can thrive. That's where voltage comes in.Voltage is essentially your cells' electrical charge, the energy that powers metabolism, detoxification, and immune resilience. When voltage drops, dysfunction sets in, pathogens can thrive, and the thyroid signals metabolic distress. In this episode, I break down how the thyroid acts as a canary in your metabolic coal mine: it's not about isolated gland dysfunction, but about cellular energy capacity and the ability of your body to efficiently regulate energy and combat stressors. We explore the Voltage Triad — the three essential pillars that drive your cellular energy:Sunlight: How proper exposure fuels mitochondrial ATP production, structures your water, and enhances cellular conductivity.Minerals: Why minerals aren't just numbers on a lab report, but cofactors that literally power the electrical systems of your body.Hydration: How structured water is critical for conductivity, circulation, and supporting your microbiome and metabolism.I also explain why voltage matters for your gut. Low-voltage environments create a terrain where pathogens thrive, digestion slows, and nutrient absorption suffers. Optimizing sunlight, minerals, and hydration doesn't just help your thyroid; it transforms the microbiome, setting the stage for lasting health. Finally, we touch on the emotional component — how unprocessed emotions can impact cellular voltage, and why creating the right physiological environment allows the body to begin processing and releasing these stored patterns safely. This episode lays the groundwork for understanding how thyroid, gut, and circadian systems interact, and why focusing on the environment your body experiences every day is far more powerful than chasing single labs or quick-fix protocols.Whether you're struggling with fatigue, thyroid irregularities, gut challenges, or just want to understand how to support your body's natural rhythms, this episode provides practical insights and a big-picture framework to start building your voltage today.Tune in and discover how aligning your thyroid, gut, and circadian biology can transform your energy, metabolism, and overall well-being.
