TVA's Adam Patrick and Chris Schad look back at the 2017 divisional round matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. They go over the good, the bad, and more from the game that will forever be known as the Minneapolis Miracle. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Matt Anderson joins Dave to talk about the memories of a miracle, the Minneapolis Miracle to be exact. Four years ago today, the Minnesota Vikings were playing the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional round of the playoffs. The Vikes opened up a 17-0 lead by the half and all was looking great, but… Drew Brees led a comeback in the second half and took the lead. Kai Forbath hits a 53 yard FG to put the Vikings back in the lead, but then Wil Lutz matched with a 43 yarder with 25 seconds left. The Vikings started the final drive and moved backward on the first play, but then 3 plays later only made it to their 39-yard line. The Vikes need at least 20 yards to get into very long field goal range. Only 10 seconds were left on the clock. The ball was snapped, Case Keenum dropped back, and then fired the ball downfield to Stephon Diggs. The defender missed the tackle beneath him as he skied for the ball. He stumbled but stayed inbounds and took it to the end zone for the win. US Bank Stadium erupted! Fans watching in bars, at other games, at home all erupted too. What a play! Fan with us!!! Dallas Cowboys cut and trade rumors will return with roster cuts before the 2020 NFL season. The Cowboys salary cap space is in good shape but there are so many roster spots available and there will be tough decisions to make at key roster spots. Notable players who could be cut or trade include players like Jourdan Lewis, Trysten Hill, Chris Jones, Chidobe Awuzie and Joe Jackson. Cowboys trade rumors will heat up closer to the NFL season. Dallas has too many players on the roster and spots like DE and CB. So if everyone stays healthy, they’ll look to make some trades. Could Trysten Hill actually bring anything back with his current trade value? Potential Cowboys roster cuts are yearly Cowboys rumors. Two positions have the most likely cuts this year: CB and DE. There is too much depth from a numbers perspective to have everyone make the roster. So is the odd player (or players) out at CB between Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie and Maurice Canady? Awuzie and Lewis are the the two best, but they could bring more back in a trade. At DE, is Joe Jackson and/or Tyrone Crawford in trouble? We all want the Cowboys 2020 season to be played. So stay safe out there and do it while repping the Cowboys with these Dallas Cowboys face masks: http://chatsports.com/Cowboysmask/ Players the Cowboys could cut include some previously mentioned candidates, like P Chris Jones. He’s overpaid and coming off an NFL-worst season. Some would argue for Tyrone Crawford as well. And yet, the Cowboys haven’t shown much interest in dumping either. Expect to see Cowboys news after the preseason about Dallas cutting Kai Forbath. With Greg Zuerlein on the roster, Forbath’s time is limited. Good morning Horners! The Vikings kicking situation has caused heartburn for many fans. GMG’s Dave and Drew talk about it. Going into the game against the Atlanta Falcons the kicker competition is settled for at least now. Kare Vedvik is gone and that experiment cost a future 5th round pick. Of course he was picked up by the New York Jets and promptly makes a 69 yarder. Oy! Dan Bailey has secured his second season with the Vikings after a season only hitting 75% of his field goal attempts. Daniel Carlson was fired after the second game at Green Bay in 2018 and moved to the Oakland Raiders where he has hit virtually all of his kicks. There is something under the Mike Zimmer time as head coach that has affected the kickers. Theories fly about how they are dealt with and their strength of their psyches. Kickers in the Zimmer era include: Dan Bailey, Daniel Carlson, Kai Forbath, and Blair Walsh. Punters include: Matt Wile, Ryan Quigley, and Jeff Locke. Also the Vedvik experiment at both positions. In 5 full seasons, that is a lot players at a positions that usually change that often. What are your theories on it? Enjoy this bonus listen. SKOL! In a game where the Minnesota Vikings lead 17-0, against the hated New Orleans Saints, it looked like all would be alright. Then things slowly started to change and decline. Drew Brees went from a couple turnovers in the first half, to near lights out in the second. Kai Forbath would finally put the Vikings back on the board, and in the lead with a clutch 53 yard kick, only to see it disappear again, as Luts would kick the Saints back ahead. What took place will go down in history as one of the most exciting and unlikely plays in Minnesota Sports history. Di and Ted are back, talking Vikings-Rams, Vikings-Lions, great Thanksgiving foods, Adam Thielen, Case Keenum, bad refs, Kai Forbath's struggles, the defensive slump against the Lions, the Falcons, playoff seeding, and their favorite Star Wars movie. And Ted goes off on why the Jedi are the absolute worst Special Operations force in Galactic history. They also answer a ton of listener questions, so give it a listen!
Mike Wobschall speaks about Case Keenum's hold on the starting job, the reason for sticking with Keenum, concerns in the kicking game with Kai Forbath, and the defense being balanced.
Greg Coleman discusses the QB discussion in Minnesota, the 6-game win streak, the teams, if there is any concern about Kai Forbath and the play of Adam Thielen.
Di Murphy and Ted Glover are back with the latest installment of RTP. In this episode: We gotta talk about Halloween, and Ted teases you about living in a haunted house once, but offers not much else. Buy him a beer sometime, he might tell you. It was a tale of two halves in London. They break down the first half mistakes and miscues, but also talk Adam Thielen’s TD and celebration, and where it ranks in TD celebrations. Then they talk about the much improved second half performance, and what caused the Vikings to come out of their London Fog. They talk both sides of the ball, and special teams, namely Kai Forbath. From there, it was Vikings news. They discuss and put a bow on the Anthony Barr/Aaron Rodgers feud, and discuss the latest news concerning Vikings QB’s. Finally, they finished up with a big listener questions segment. They covered lots of topics, and it was the most questions I think we've ever answered.

Ted and Di are back aith another episode. In this show, they discuss the Vikings 2017 game in London, the NFL's decision to change breast Cancer Awareness Month to Cancer Awareness, and the Shariff Floyd and Adrian Peterson injuries. From there, they moved on to a review of the Jaguars game, which was closer than it should have been, but a win is a win. It was good to see the explosive plays return, but the red zone offense was still an issue. Kai Forbath was pretty good, too. From there, it's a Colts preview, and we begin by deciding the Civil War General Luck meme needs to die, painfully. From there, Di and Ted give you the keys to the game, and score predictions. Finally, they wrap up the show with listener questions, and answer why eggnog is the absolute worst holiday drink ever. Ever.
The Vikings beat the Jaguars and are still alive in the race for the playoffs -- but it wasn't pretty. Ben Goessling, Matthew Coller and Judd Zulgad talk about the Vikings' win, and how an ugly one still counts in the win column. Why can't the Vikings finish more drives? It was a Kai Forbath field goal fest. They're really counting on Matt Asiata in big situations. If you were Adrian Peterson, would you be itching to get back right now? All that and more on this episode of the Purple Podcast.
