Tune in for valuable insights and expert advice. About Dan Carlson is an associate professor of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Utah and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Contemporary Families. He is a public scholar whose research has appeared in numerous television, print, and radio media outlets. Generally, his scholarship examines the causes and consequences of the Second Demographic Transition in U.S. society with a particular focus on the gendered division of labor. Currently, he is conducting an NSF-funded study examining long-term shifts in U.S. parents' divisions of labor since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and their association with parents' well-being. Insights Daniel - "Don't sleep on the division of labor. You know, it may not be fun to talk about, it may not be sexy to talk about, but it's important to have these conversations with your partner about what you and they envision the load to be in your family. Who's going to do what you know, if you don't talk about it, you run the risk, potentially, of having somebody who has very different idea about these things, and that can potentially be problematic, so have that conversation, and, you know, make sure that the approach on the same page well, but when it comes to who's going to do what." Liz - "Instead of work life, balance, work life, justice, I kind of liked that a lot. I was just looking at the definition of justice as a concern for justice, peace and genuine respect for people, which I love. And I guess it goes back to the communication of even just acknowledging that I'm not going to be home much this week before six o'clock, Honey, can we talk about how that's going to go and just what you're going to need from me most, and what I'm going to need from you most? Can we? Can I pick your brain? Can we have that discussion? I think that's just so lovely, because it really is not going to be that that balance. I think some weeks are just going to be very off balance because of life." Dave - "It's got me thinking that you we really can divide responsibilities without dividing the relationship, if you will. It's and sometimes it's the give and take." In this week's episode of "2 Giant Goofballs: A New York Giants Podcast," Drew and Rob are joined by special guest and Raiders fan Rafael Chacín for an in-depth preview of the upcoming Giants vs. Raiders matchup in NFL Week 9.The episode begins with a comprehensive analysis of the injury reports for both teams. Notable mentions include the Raiders' kicker, Daniel Carlson, who has been playing through a groin injury, and star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who's been dealing with ankle and knee injuries. The Giants, on the other hand, will be without the services of Darren Waller and Tyrod Taylor. The hosts and their guest then delve into the Raiders' recent coaching shake-up, which saw the firing of HC Josh McDaniels, GM David Ziegler, and OC Mick Lombardi. Antonio Pierce takes over as interim HC, with Bo Hardegree as OC. The hosts provide insights into their coaching backgrounds and what this sudden change might mean for the team. When it comes to the offensive side of the game, the Raiders have been struggling on defense, especially against the pass. They've allowed a relatively high completion percentage and haven't generated significant pressure on quarterbacks. The secondary includes familiar names like Marcus Peters and Marcus Epps, but the real standout on defense has been Max Crosby with 6.5 sacks.Conversely, the Raiders have had a tough time running the ball, ranking last in the NFL in rushing statistics. Josh Jacobs has seen a significant drop in his yards per carry average this season. In the passing game, the Raiders have been throwing the ball a lot, but with limited success. They lead the NFL in interception rate, and their quarterbacks have been under duress. The Giants will need to capitalize on these struggles.Final thoughts include emphasizing the importance of capitalizing on turnovers, acknowledging the element of unpredictability brought by the coaching change, speculating on which players will step up in Waller's absence, and keeping an eye on Daniel Jones's performance as he returns from his neck injury.Tune in to the "Giants vs. Raiders Preview Show" for an insightful and entertaining breakdown of the upcoming game.#giants #raiders #nflSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Jordan Love is Still Throwing Picks right NOW! For the first time since the Reagan administration, and when the Raiders called Los Angeles home, the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Green Bay Packers, who had won eight straight games in the series. All it took was an end zone interception by Robertson on a deep ball to Christian Watson after Raiders All-Pro kicker Daniel Carlson missed two field goals for the first time since the second game of his rookie season, when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings. The Raiders ended a three-game losing streak, and the schedule looks promising with the woeful New England Patriots coming to Las Vegas on Sunday before the Raiders head to the equally inept Chicago Bears a week later. Promising trend: Spillane preached takeaways throughout the offseason, into training camp and throughout the start of the season ... despite never having an interception and only recovering one fumble in his five-year career. Two picks against the Packers sent a message for a defense in desperate need of big plays. His first INT set up a Carlson field goal late in the second quarter and was the Raiders' first score off a turnover this season. Las Vegas entered the game as one of two teams -- next week's opponents, the Patriots, were the other -- without a point off a turnover this season. Troubling trend: Jimmy Garoppolo turning Davante Adams into an invisible man and essentially ignoring him in the first half, when the Raiders had an opportunity to jump to a big lead. Consider: Adams had just one target before halftime, a catch that went for 12 yards. Before facing his old team in the Packers, Adams had accounted for 39% of Raiders targets this season, highest in the NFL. QB breakdown: It wasn't his prettiest outing but Garoppolo, back after missing last week's loss at the Chargers with a concussion, did just enough even though he threw an interception for a fourth straight game, the longest such streak of his career. The Raiders have also committed a turnover in 12 straight games, the longest active streak in the league. Garoppolo passed for 208 yards while completing 22 of 31 attempts with a touchdown pass to Jakobi Meyers and one interception for an 86.5 quarterback rating in his return. -- Paul Gutierrez Next game: vs. Patriots (4:05 p.m. ET, Sunday) via @espn Social: Twitch-http://twitch.tv/GmiasWorld Facebook-http://www.facebook.com/GmiasWorld Twitter-https://www.twitter.com/GmiasWorld Donate:https://streamlabs.com/gmiasworld Instagram-https://www.instagram.com/GmiasWorld GmiasWorld Merch: https://gmiasworld.myspreadshop.com Background Music (Exclusive) by @ZaneAlexanderNC #nfl #gmiasworld

The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Episode 177 of The Autumn Windbags LIVE from Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Raiders have had some hard times so lets look at reasons to be optimistic. The Raiders can't lose so many one-point game again. The Raiders have four players that could be the best at their position next season: NFL All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, NFL All-Pro end Maxx Crosby, NFL rushing leader Josh Jacobs and Pro Bowl kicker Daniel Carlson. The pass rush should be good with Maxx Crosby, Chandler Jones and first round NFL Draft pick Tyree Wilson. The targets will be great with Davante Adams, Pro Bowl slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, Jacoby Meyers and rookie tight end Michael Mayer. Josh Jacobs has hall of fame numbers. He has the seventh most yards from scrimmage through 25-years-old behind only Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Edgerrin James, Walter Payton, Ladanian Tomlinson and Marshall Faulk. Now that Las Vegas Raiders passing leader Derek Carr is on the New Orleans Saints, should Raider Nation root for Derek Carr to show Mark Davis the Raiders need more accountability? Daniel Carlson is the starting kicker for the Las Vegas Raiders. Daniel kicked at my alma matter, Auburn University for four straight years, where he had a tremendous career and became the SEC's all time leading scorer. He was selected in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2018 NFL draft, but after a rough game in Minnesota, Carlson was cut and was picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders where he's been ever since. He has been the NFL's leading scorer In two of the last three seasons, and just last year he signed a big contract extension locking him in with the Raiders for the next four years. I really enjoyed hearing his perspective on the uncertain times in his career as a newly married man and the significance of the stability provided by a four year contract as a father of one with number two on the way. As an Auburn guy I've rooted for Daniel throughout his entire career, and after getting to chat with him it only reinforced my perception of him as a strong, humble dude with a calm confidence about him. There is nothing to not like about this guy. On the field he has ice in his veins. He's as clutch as they come. Off the field he lives a life deeply rooted in faith and devoted to his young and growing family. But above it all he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I'm pumped I had the opportunity to chat with him.DISCUSSION POINTSChildhood in Colorado Springs, CORaised by Alabama fans, played at AuburnSpent one year of his childhood in SwedenHow Daniel got into playing footballThe marriage fast trackUncertainty after getting cutStability of a four year contract as a younger dadPlaying in the NFL with a newborn baby at homeGame winning field goal --> birth of first babyCompartmentalizing kicking in the NFL vs home lifeBringing in baby number twoBest marriage advice from DCWhat Daniel struggles withWhat Daniel is the most proud ofWhat Daniel wants his legacy to be with his kidsLINKSIG: @danielcarlson38

The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
The Autumn Windbags are BACK for episode 131 with RJ finally home from Abu Dhabi. Question of the day asks, how many games will the Raiders win on the upcoming five game stretch? The Raiders are at New Orleans Saints, at Jacksonville Jaguars, vs Indianapolis Colts, at Denver broncos and at Seattle Seahawks. In random Raiders news, we have a Raiders beef we didn't know we needed. The Athletics' Tashan Reed and Iggy Azalea had a back and forth on Twitter about her performance at the Raiders halftime show. Are fans turned off by media complaining at games? Plus, Iggy Azelea delivered a great line. After the 38-20 drubbing the Raiders put on the Houston Texans, the Raiders are currently third in points per game behind only the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. That's a Super Bowl offense. Its a balanced offense as well with Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller leading a passing attack ranking 12th and Josh Jacobs leading a rushing attack ranked 11th. Who should get credit for the success and is this just smoke and mirrors or who the Raiders really are? Derek Carr is not a turnover machine anymore. Daniel Carlson is crushing field goals. In Raiders trade rumors, Sports Illustrated reports that the Raiders are discussing trading for Cleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin before the NFL trade deadline. The NFL Pro Bowler fits a need for the Raiders. Conklin went on injured reserve twice last season and is in year three of a three year, $42 million deal. Raiders vs Saints Preview. The Raiders and Saints are both 2-4 heading into NFL week 8. Saints coach Dennis Allen was the coach who drafted Derek Carr! The Saints vs Raiders match-up will come down to our linebackers being able to corral Alvin Kamara. The New Orleans Saints only really have one receiving threat and that's Chris Olave. Andy Dalton is not a great NFL quarterback but he is good enough to hurt the Raiders defensive backs. The New Orleans are also in big injury trouble with Marshon Latimore, Bradley Roby, Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas all not likely to play. Alvin Kamara also gave the Raiders a motivational quote. In What Up, Windbags, is Josh Jacobs the key to a Super Bowl, has Josh McDaniels figured out his play calling and is Darren Waller tradeable? 0:00 Intro 2:12 How Many Games Will the Raiders Win in the Next Five Games? 11:29 Iggy Azalea vs Raiders Reporter 20:08 Raiders Offense Is ELITE! 33:20 Raiders Trade Rumors - Jack Conklin 41:19 Raiders vs Saints Preview 53:26 What Up, Windbags? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Ep.126 of The Autumn Windbags in a VICTORY week! Question of the day, how do we grade Las Vegas raiders head coach Josh McDaniels after going 1-3 in his first four games as LV Raiders head coach? Soto gives McDaniels a C-. RJ gives McDaniels a D+. The Raiders are one of the lowest penalized teams in the NFL. Davante Adams is finding his stroke while NFL Pro Bowler Darren Waller has not. Despite a losing streak, the Raiders are not falling apart. The Las Vegas Raiders get their first win of the season and do so at home against the Denver Broncos. The Good: Josh Jacobs ate the Broncos alive running all over a really good defense. The Broncos defense committed to stopping Davante Adams and still couldn't as Adams got over 100 yards receiving. A few defensemen stepped up big with Maxx Crosby crushing it as always, Denzel Perryman had a great game until he got hurt halfway through the game, Divine Deablo needs more playing time and Amik Robertson had one of the best defensive touchdowns you'll see all season. A Raiders rumor is Robertson might be returning punts in the future. Plus, Derek Carr had a career high in rushing. The Bad: Superstar kicker Daniel Carlson missed an extra point. Derek Carr's passing game was underwhelming as well. The Ugly: With Hunter Renfrow out with a concussion, Keelan Cole and Tyron Johnson started returning punts and they should NOT. The red zone offense continues to be an issue for Derek Carr, Josh McDaniels and this Raiders offense. Josh McDaniels now has four games as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have managed to go from the most penalized team historically in the NFL, they are now 7th in lowest penalties. Turnovers are another story with the Raiders sitting at a -2 turnover margin. Derek Carr started off poorly with penalties but has been great since. Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's unit has only got three takeaways so far this season. The offensive line has been the biggest weakness of this Raiders squad all season. There was a lot to be encouraged about in the last group from the Denver Broncos game. Chiefs vs Raiders Preview. The Chiefs Raiders rivalry unfolds into the next chapter on Monday Night Football coming up. Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs have been an issue for the Raiders for a long time now. Maxx Crosby vs Patrick Mahomes is a match-up to watch. Can Nate Hobbs cover Travis Kelce? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Ep.124 of The Autumn Windbags! RJ returned from Nashville and watching the Titans game in person. The question of the day: Which Raider surprised you the most with their play? Soto said Chandler Jones. RJ said Nate Hobbs. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly from the Las Vegas Raiders loss to the Tennessee Titans. Good: Derek Carr threw for over 300 yards and did not fumble once. Maxx Crosby continues to disrupt every offense he plays against. Josh Jacobs ran for over five yards per carry despite being sick all week. Mack Hollins had a career game and nearly won the game for the Las Vegas Raiders. Daniel Carlson is as automatic as any kicker in the NFL. Bad: The Raiders defense allowed 24 points in the first half alone. Johnathan Abram has played well this season but had two big missed tackles on third down. Jermaine Eluemunor had a pair of critical penalties that cost the Raiders. Ugly: The Raiders Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller dropped at least two touch down passes. The usually sure-handed Waller just seemed off all day. The red zone offense only scored two touchdowns in six trips to the red zone. In Las Vegas Raiders News, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has made the media rounds claiming that Derek Carr is purposefully ignoring Davante Adams. Dan Orlovsky points to a handful of plays where Davante Adams is in a matchup that should automatically make Derek Carr throw to him. The Tennessee Titans game specifically brought up Josh McDaniels offensive scheme on how Derek Carr is supposed to play. Is Josh McDaniels making Derek Carr commit to a pass presnap or is Derek Carr missing the reads and not getting Davante Adams the ball? This leads to the old debate on is Derek Carr "the guy". In What Up, Windbags the guys discuss running the ball more, does the 0-3 start make firing Rich Bisaccia seem like a mistake and what would a two game win streak do for this team? 0:00 Intro 2:26 Which Raider has surprised you the most with his play? 5:56 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Raiders-Titans 25:40 Gloves Off; Derek Carr Debate 1:13:54 What Up, Windbags? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Ep.120 of The Autumn Windbags and the first show after NFL Week One! The question of the day is which Raider impressed you the most against the Chargers? Dylan Parham played pretty mistake free. Derek Carr Davante Adams connection was a thing of beauty and was the Davate Adams touchdown. Nate Hobbs proved last year was no fluke. Andrew Billings was blowing up run plays against the Los Angeles Chargers. Johnathan Abram led the team in tackles. Josh Jacobs got 5.7 yards per carry. Maxx Crosby was disruptive and around the ball every play at SoFi Stadium. Soto does his good, bad and ugly from Las Vegas Raiders vs Chargers. Good: Davante Adams is better than advertised. Johnathan Abram got 12 tackles and never got embarrassed by Justin Herbert. Maxx Crosby never sacked Justin Herbert but pressured him all game. Raider Nation has to be excited for Nate Hobbs who got the only pass defended by the LV Raiders. Bad: The offensive line gave up six sacks to Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa and the rest of the Chargers. Josh McDaniels decided to keep rotating the offensive linemen. Josh McDaniels play calling left a lot to be desired. Few screens, draws and play action to help the poor offensive line. Daniel Carlson sent a kick off out of bounds. Chandler Jones and Clelin Ferrell were ghosts opposite of Maxx Crosby on the defensive line. Ugly: Derek Carr threw three interceptions and fumbled twice. Several sacks were on him and he left Darren Waller and Davante Adams hanging when they were wide open. Hunter Renfrow never got into the game. The Las Vegas Raiders lost and had a bunch of injuries against the Los Angeles Chargers. In Raiders news today, Anthony Averett and DJ Turner head to IR. Trevon Moehrig, Denzel Perryman, Brandon Bolden and Andre James all left the game with injury. Raiders vs Cardinals will be the home opener for Las Vegas. The Raiders are -5.5 favorites. Patrick Mahomes destroyed the Cardinals defense last week. Deandre Hopkins is still suspended and will not play. In Raiders news today, there's a good chance JJ Watt, Zach Ertz and Trayvon Mullen won't play. Kyler Murray is obviously still a dangerous double threat as a passer and runner. In What Up, Windbags, how rattled was Derek Carr in Raiders vs Chargers, no reason to panic after week one and why didn't Josh Jacobs eat against the Chargers defense? 0:00 Intro 2:20 Which Raider impressed you the most against the Chargers? 9:33 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Raiders-Chargers 43:09 Raiders News: Injury Report 47:10 Raiders vs Cardinals 54:37 What Up, Windbags You know you want more: https://linktr.ee/TheAutumnWindbags

Daniel Carlson, kicker for the Las Vegas Raiders, & his wife Katherine join us in conversation on what it's like to honor Jesus while being in the spotlight & how they balance their growing family while also thriving in the NFL.
But above it all he's an incredible man, husband, and father, and I'm pumped I had the opportunity to chat with him. DISCUSSION POINTS Childhood in Colorado Springs, CO Raised by Alabama fans, played at Auburn Spent one year of his childhood in Sweden How Daniel got into playing football The marriage fast track Uncertainty after getting cut Stability of a four year contract as a younger dad Playing in the NFL with a newborn baby at home Game winning field goal --> birth of first baby Compartmentalizing kicking in the NFL vs home life Bringing in baby number two Best marriage advice from DC What Daniel struggles with What Daniel is the most proud of What Daniel wants his legacy to be with his kids LINKS IG: @danielcarlson38
