On this week's “Inside the Trojans' Huddle”, panelists Marc Kulkin, Chris Arledge, Kevin Bruce, and Greg Katz discusses the pro and cons to the four announced kickoff times, the early June date for the return of Salute to Troy, a new alternative Traveler name, where the recruiting class of 2023 will rank in USC annuals, explosive Musings with Arledge commentary, predicting future major announcements, and viewer questions and panel answers.   The first quarter of ITTH is devoted to the panel's pro and con reactions to the four announced kickoff times. With the first three kickoff times in September now set as well as a Friday night game in early November, how does that affect the fans in terms of comfortability, weather, importance, and general attendance? There is some agreement on the times, but the panel does find universal agree when it comes to those 7:30 p.m. Saturday kickoffs and those 6:30 p.m. Friday night games. In the second quarter, the panel discusses the return of the once popular preseason public celebration called Salute to Troy. However, there is a twist to the return of this all-you-can-eat and football program spirit builder. Instead of the past tradition of holding the Spirt of Troy a week or two before the opening game of the season in the heat of late August, it has been decided that Salute to Troy will be held at the beginning of summer on June 18. A good idea? A bad idea? The Huddle panel certainly has its opinions on why the move revolves around one particular vital necessity of college football. For halftime, the panel attempts to answer the question that if the Trojans' famous mascot horse, Traveler, had a name change, what name change would each panelist suggest? Chris Arledge has his usual opinion on such matters while Greg Katz actually has a reasonable suggestion for a name change. In the Huddle's third quarter, the panel discusses the possibility that Lincoln Riley's second recruiting class, the class of 2023, could rank among the great USC recruiting classes of all-time. Will it happen, or will the class of 2023 fall short? What additions to the class of 2023 will it take to become a legendary haul? Panelists point out that while on paper super recruiting classes of the past have led to national championships, not all great classes have reached their potential as former Trojans' linebacker great Kevin Bruce points out.   For the lighting of the traditional “Chris Arledge Coliseum Torch” between the third and fourth quarter, the “Musings with Arledge” commentary takes on Pittsburgh sports talk show host Andrew Fillipponi regarding talk show host's tirade against Jordan Addison and USC football. Defending the Trojans honor, Arledge eviscerates Fillipponi, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi, Pitt football and its facilities, and challenges talk show host Fillipponi to a charity fight in the Steel City! In the fourth quarter, the panel is asked to predict the next great major football announcement – on or off the field - coming out of the John McKay Center. You may be surprised with each panelist's wish list. And in Overtime, the panel answers viewer questions regarding the first offensive play that Lincoln Riley will call to open the 2022 season and who will score the first touchdown on offense and defense; a heated debate between Marc Kulkin and Greg Katz regarding whether the Trojans have six or seven Heisman Trophy winners; bringing back Student Body Left/Right as a tradition or an actual part of the standard playbook; and our panelists reminisce regarding their favorite tailgating experience - home or away. Hint: A couple of panelists say their most fun tailgating experience happened in Northern Indiana. #USCTrojans #USC Football #CFBNews #USC Subscribe for more USC football coverage: www.on3.com/teams/usc-trojans/ USC Trojans videos from Los Angeles, California from the staff of WeAreSC.  Learn more about your ad choices. Persistence is to success as excuses are to failure. Never, never give up - there is always a way. Jim Rohn said, “If you want something, you will find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.” And he should know. A college drop-out, and in a rut, in debt and unable to see his way out by his mid-twenties, Jim set out to achieve more. And he did. His persistence paid off and by age 31, he was a millionaire. If you want more, you WILL find a way, because there always IS a way. With persistence and consistent action, you will make it happen. If you don't believe me, keep listening. Did you know that Thomas Edison had over 10,000 failed attempts to create the light bulb before he was successful? His persistence was as valuable as his invention. 10,000 failed attempts and look what he created! Even if you're not out to change the world, what could you create with an unresolved persistence? Allyson Felix made it to the Olympics in just over one year. With an intense training schedule of five to six hours per day, her persistence paid off. By the end of her training season in 2003, she had broken many records, including one set by Olympic Gold Medalist, Marion Jones. At the 2004 Olympics, she won the Silver Medal by running a 22.18 in the 200-meter race. Amazingly, she did all of this while being a high-school senior and a freshman college student. Persistence always pays off - and sometimes big time! It's a known fact that more business deals are inked when one of the parties is persistent. Now, being persistent is not the same as being pushy; rather, it is voicing your ideal fit and expertise to someone that may not be aware of the benefits they will receive working with you. They will appreciate your persistence and the benefits - but you have to make them known. You've probably heard of Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, and their best-selling book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul. Did you know they marketed the original books to over 130 publishers, over a two-year period before a struggling publisher agreed to publish it. That's two years of phone calls, foot-peddling and persistence that started a best-selling book series. The authors knew the value of the book, it came down to making it known to the right publisher. Once the publisher saw the value, they knew what the benefits would be. Their first book went on to sell 8 million copies in 39 languages. And to date, the series has sold more than 100 million copies in over 45 languages. At one point, JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter book series was on welfare and so broke that she wrote her story on pub napkins. She could have easily given up on writing, but she was persistent in her passion. She finished the first Harry Potter novel, found a literary agent and went to work marketing her book. Today, she is one of the wealthiest women in the world, with a net worth of about $1 billion dollars. There are thousands of examples of ordinary people achieving extraordinary goals; these are just a few examples of how persistence paid off. Achieving your goals requires you to take consistent action, be persistent, and maintain a resolve to simply not give up. Let's explore 5 steps you can take today, to get you closer to achieving your goals. 1. Take Measurable Actions - Every Day! Persistence takes action. Take at least 3 actions every day that support goal achievement. If you need funding for your venture, then get on the phone and find an investor. If you want to lose weight, then eat well and exercise. If you want a new job, then take steps to make yourself a prime job candidate for the right company. Consistent action and persistence pays off. 2. Keep Showing Up If you believe in what you're doing, just keep showing up. You never know when your break-through opportunity will appear, so bring your best to every situation. When the right opportunity appears, you'll be ready! 3. Remain Objective About Your Obstacles Don't get emotional about the obstacles in front of you. Remember, there is always a way, and your success is inevitable. You just have to figure out how to move over, around or under your challenges. 4. Learn to Say “Next!” Don't take rejections personally; they are nothing more than the natural process of weeding out the sub-prime opportunities. You're on the road to success and want to put your energies toward something that will be ideal for all parties involved - including you. The right opportunity will be met with an enthusiastic “Yes"! 5. Track Your Progress It's easier to be persistent when you can see how far you've come. Track your progress and achievements so you can see how much closer you're getting with every step forward. You want to know what specific activities you are doing to get the results you are getting or not getting. Tracking your daily activity will help you know this so you can course correct more easily, if you need to, and achieve your goals on an accelerated pace. Check out my free webinars to see samples of what this might look like for you, if you don't already have something (https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/free-articles/free-webinars/). If you don't currently have a way to track your progress with referrals and opportunities, download the free referral tracking spreadsheet so you can easily tell where everyone is in your pipeline. Get the sample tracking by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/referral-tracking-workbook/. The road to success isn't always easy - but it isn't always hard. There may be times when you have to talk yourself through periods of self-doubt, and there will definitely be times when you defy the odds. Never, never give up because there is always a way to achieve your goals and experience the life you truly desire. Kevin Bruce, Financial Advisor, shared this story about persistence paying off for him. “An example that persistence pays off… I sent a book to a friend of a client on February 1. I have called them regularly and never received any feedback, return phone call, etc. Yesterday, on their 40+ call (I stopped counting), I received a very warm answer from the wife, scheduled the Phone Consultation to talk about the book I sent them for August 22 (which was 3 years after I sent the book), and got a call from the husband a few minutes later excited with some questions. Never would've expected it, but glad I kept calling!” Every action of every day between now and your goal achievement counts. Take action, bring your best, find solutions to your obstacles, and say “Next!” to your rejections. Feel good about how far you've come and be persistent until you achieve your goals! B.C. FORBES, Founder of Forbes Magazine, said: “History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.” I hope you take the same approach. Persistence is to success as excuses are to failure. Never, never give up - there is always a way. Jim Rohn said, “If you want something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” And he should know. Even if you’re not out to change the world, what could you create with an unresolved persistence? You’ve probably heard of Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, and their best-selling book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul. Let’s explore 5 steps you can take today, to get you closer to achieving your goals. 2. Keep Showing Up If you believe in what you’re doing, just keep showing up. You never know when your break-through opportunity will appear, so bring your best to every situation. When the right opportunity appears, you’ll be ready! 3. Remain Objective About Your Obstacles Don’t get emotional about the obstacles in front of you. Remember, there is always a way, and your success is inevitable. You just have to figure out how to move over, around or under your challenges. 4. Learn to Say “Next!” Don’t take rejections personally; they are nothing more than the natural process of weeding out the sub-prime opportunities. You’re on the road to success and want to put your energies toward something that will be ideal for all parties involved - including you. The right opportunity will be met with an enthusiastic “Yes"! 5. Track Your Progress It’s easier to be persistent when you can see how far you’ve come. Track your progress and achievements so you can see how much closer you’re getting with every step forward. You want to know what specific activities you are doing to get the results you are getting or not getting. Tracking your daily activity will help you know this so you can course correct more easily, if you need to, and achieve your goals on an accelerated pace. Check out my free webinars to see samples of what this might look like for you, if you don’t already have something (https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/free-articles/free-webinars/). If you don’t currently have a way to track your progress with referrals and opportunities, download the free referral tracking spreadsheet so you can easily tell where everyone is in your pipeline. Get the sample tracking by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/referral-tracking-workbook/. The road to success isn’t always easy - but it isn’t always hard. Feel good about how far you’ve come and be persistent until you achieve your goals! B.C. FORBES, Founder of Forbes Magazine, said: “History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.” I hope you take the same approach. Let’s explore 5 steps you can take today, to get you closer to achieving your goals. The EVOLUTION of Masculinity… How can you have everything you want in life? Why do relationships keep failing? Why do businesses fail? These are questions asked everyday by plenty of souls that find themselves in an unfortunate circumstances. Many of those souls are male. For a man in the modern age, life can be confusing… Especially in the online world, it can be a confusing dialogue of reverting to our “roots” as an evolutionary being vs. evolving with the time and becoming more in tune with our feminine energy. What's the right answer? That's what Kevin Bruce Scott and I are here to talk about! Kevin realized some time ago that HE was at the crux of his life's failures… That his failed relationships and businesses had only HIM at the root cause. Kevin made a commitment to change his mindset, focus on becoming a man of his word, and connect the dots along the path towards connecting with himself. Nowadays, he helps other men do the same! Let's chat! Kevin is hosting a coaching platform starting September 1st! If you wanna learn more, just go to this link: https://www.effortlessalpha.com/thewordofman

Many that aspire to be successful investors or traders look up to Warren Buffett as a role model. Yet the chances of anyone amassing that wealth by following the same path as Buffett are extremely unlikely. Debating survivorship bias seems perfectly appropriate, but that's never broached. On the other hand, becoming the next Bill Dunn or Ed Seykota (or fill in the blank with the name of any trend follower) has much more possibility. In the trend following world there are many more successful traders, successful examples, which is much more motivational and inspiring. In this episode, Michael Covel curates excerpts from Kevin Bruce, Jim Simons, and David Harding. All three talking about systems and or trend following. The important point about systems is not just selecting the right one, but also sticking to it once selected. Often people are tempted to make discretionary calls and override a system, defeating its original purpose. Instead, the potential rewards and risks inherent in a trend following system should be evaluated at the beginning, discretionary calls made at the outset, then let the system run without interference. That is the path to potential success. In this episode of Trend Following Radio: The importance of practice and persistence in trading Finding trends mathematically The importance of not overriding systems Being prepared for drawdowns Looking at the S&P 500 as a trading system Dispelling the myths of the mainstream financial world Get a FREE Trend Following DVD here.
