It's time for another round up of what's cool on kickstarter. This month we found a few big miniature driven games, on which you can spend all of your money (or maybe just a lot of your money). There are also a few very interesting mechanic driven games to talk about. I think perhaps there's something for everyone.

Whenever the Kickstarter Roundup crew gets together, we always have more games to talk about than we can manage in one episode. So, Liz from Beyond Solitaire, Jeremy from Jambalaya Plays Games, and Jason have four more games for your listening pleasure. We begin by leaning in to the roll and write craze that's hitting our hobby. Jeremy shares about Cartographers (2:20), the new one from Thunderworks Games which adds spacial and mapping elements to the formula. Then, the entire crew gushes about Fleet: The Dice Game (10:47), one of the most complex and combo-licious roll and write games on the market today. For our last two games, we get into some much more niche and out-of-left-field offerings. Liz tells us about Wars of Marcus Aurelius (21:35), a tower defense-style wargame with strong historical flavor for a Latin fangirl like Liz to enjoy. Finally, Jason shared about the very interesting grid-based puzzle game meets Jenga experience, Sarah's Vision (27:37). Finally, with all of these games, we inevitably have to confront the difficult task of culling our collections. We can't keep them all! We talk about how we judge what games to keep and/ or chuck, how we assess, and also our general philosophies towards collection-building.

The Kickstarter roundup crew is back! Liz from Beyond Solitaire and Jeremy from Jambalaya Plays Games rejoin Jason as we take a tour through all of the amazing projects we have been playing lately. This week, all of our games share the fact that they have fantasy-based themes. First, Jeremy and Liz insisted that ENGN re-visit our review of Aeon's End: Legacy (2:44). Jason was up and down with his thoughts, so Liz and Jeremy want to set him straight! Next up, Liz shares about Call to Adventure (9:30), the very, very light dice chucking game of making a fantasy character and living out an adventure story. We'll let you know if it's worth it for "real' gamers. After that, Jason and Jeremy get into two games that both put new school design chrome on old school, dice driven, epic games engines. Jason chats about Gloom of Kilforth (21:20) and Jeremy shares about Folklore: The Affliction (36:50). Finally, we get into a little chat about folks who consistently ask for fantasy game recommendations on different online groups and forums. There are so many! We recommend a few more that might have flown under your radar.

Liz from Beyond Solitaire and Jeremy from Jambalaya Plays Games are back for more recently delivered Kickstarter fun!  Liz and Jeremy start us off with a highly portable and quirky cult classic which is finally seeing the published light of day (5:38). Then Jason and Liz share about Direwild (12:35), the latest game to take a stab at marrying deckbuilding and dungeon crawling. Our discussion gets into some larger points about deckbuilders - what we enjoy, what we think makes them good, etc.  Liz and Jeremy jump back in to share about Donning the Purple (31:21) a 'king of the hill' style game that might offer some more aggressive play than you might be used to. Finally, a game which is the complete opposite of aggressive - Cat Rescue (40:11) a cooperative, small card game about training cats for adoption. Yes, we went from murdering one another for power and political gain to training cats. Yet another reason to love Kickstarter - you can find games about... anything, really!

We do this once a season, for the reason of new kickstarter deliveries hitting our tables. Liz from Beyond Solitaire and Jeremy from Jambalaya Plays Games hop back on the show to do what we do whether the mics are on or not... talk about games!  First up, we have King's Guild (5:20), a game that Jeremy promises might kill that unkillable game for you - Splendor! It already has a one-up on Splendor in that is has a built-in solo mode, and Jeremy breaks down what else this one has to offer. After that, we get into Crypt (9:50), a small filler game with some dice and a cute theme that might get some chuckles as your local bar night.  After that, we get a bit heavier and share about Dawn of Peacemakers (16:17), a VERY unique game where you play a diplomat running around in the field of battle, trying to bring two warring armies to a state where they don't want to kill each other any more. There's tactical movement, clever card play, and an ongoing, replayable campaign in this game, everything that Jason loves to see in a game. He'll tell you if it delivered or not.  Finally, Liz gets to indulge her inner Jane Austin geek during our review of Obsession: Pride, Intrigue, and Prejudice in Victorian England (28:35). This one offers some simple tableau building and hand/ pawn management, wrapped with love in a theme that definitely does not get a ton of traffic.  Rounding things out, we get into a bit about playing prototypes - what's fun about it, how to get into it, how it enables relationships with our favorite designers, and other aspects of it.

Rescue Polar Bears is a family weight cooperative game that evokes Flash Point: Fire Rescue. In other words, right in Jason's wheelhouse!  Liz then chimes in with Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr (16:59). This cooperative game about giving palliative care to a dying man has caused quite a stir since being announced. Liz and Jeremy share some thoughts about the hype.  Jason leaps back in to talk about Champions of Hara (31:53), an adventure game with hand management that evokes one of the truly great solo games of all time... well, you know. Finally, everyone jumps back in to talk about the adventure themed Euro game, Archmage (42:59). This is another beautiful (and on time!) production from Starling Games/ Game Salute.

Liz and Jeremy are back! The creative minds behind Jambalaya Plays Games (https://jambalayaplaysgames.com/) and Beyond Solitaire (http://www.beyondsolitaire.net/) are here to share about their continuing and terrible KS acquisition disorders!  For the Kickstarter preview this week, we talk about a game that's already out and whose expansion is (or, at least, should be) live as we drop the episode - Expedition (4:17). It's a card-base RPG that has an app, as well as tons of fan-created content. These are not things that every gamer looks forward to! They break down whether this project integrates those things in ways that folks might find appealing.  We then turn to some recently delivered games. Jeremy tells us about Sailing Toward Osiris from Daily Magic Games (13:03), a gateway-level worker placement game from the same publishing house as the Valeria line of games. Liz then shares about End of the Trail (18:54), a clever little card game with some bluffing and negotiation that also has a solo mode. Finally, for our main event, Jason lets everyone know what he thought of Tiny Epic Zombies (23:25) while Jeremy pitches in with his opinions about the overall Tiny Epic project.
