In Part Two of our 2024 GenCon preview coverage, we go through an amazing amount of games that we are looking forward to demoing and picking up. We had a lot of fun recording this, but there are a few episode notes to mention as we lost some of our segments to recording corruption: 1) Jason mentioned a game to pick up called Lone Wolves. This is from Wonderful World Board Games at booth 1356 and is priced at $20. 2) Mark mentioned Tír na nÓg from Grand Gamers Guild. They can be found at booth 2838. They are offering a deluxe version for $50. 3) Metrorunner can be found at Thunderworks Games' booth at 1363 for $60. 4) Rock Hard: 1977 is from Devir. They are at booth 2827. This review first appeared in https://werenotwizards.blogspot.com/2023/03/roll-player-board-game-review.html This review is based on the retail version of the game provided to us by the designer and publisher. We were not paid for this review. We give a general overview of the gameplay and so not all of the mechanical aspects of the game may be mentioned. The majority of the games that we are play are going to take a reasonable number of sessions and playthroughs to fully understand every possibility that they offer. We hope this write up gives you an idea of whether or not this game is something that you will consider playing or even add to your collection. Our Six Degrees of Expectation have been written to make it easier for you to find out what is important to you as a player. Even if we don't like something, hopefully it helps you to decide if it is something that you should find out more about. We always suggest you check out a gameplay video to give you a better understanding of the game as it is played. This week's guest is Keith Matejk of Thunderworks Games. We talk about how you can play Roll Player and Cartographers with big groups of players, and how you can play every Thunderworks game solo. We then dig into the art and gameplay of Goblin Vaults.Follow Thunderworks Games at: Website - FB - IG - Twitter—Dance Dungeon: Water tubes line massive mirrored walls to power the water wheel torture machine. This device has a lever that goes from “little jig” to “dance machine.” Tethers connect goblins to the machine and Lockwork Goblin.Lockwork Goblin: A colossal goblin-shaped golem, made of thousands of locks of all types, has exterior ledges and steps to climb it if you're agile enough. It's lonely and wants friends, so it violently brainwashes goblins with the machine to be its pal and perform dance numbers. In the center of its torso is a prison cell containing goblins pleading for you to save them. Its forehead contains a vault door that leads to emotional baggage and gold. It has hundreds of scraggly teeth that are one-use magic keys that'll open any lock. Dance Goblins: Converted goblins wear red thriller jackets, a lock necklace and are tethered by the head to the Lockwork Goblin. The tether is like an addiction, with strong withdrawals when detached. Rewiring works 100% on goblins, but has a 50% success rate for everyone else.Art: Tiger Wizard Words: Steve AlbertsonStory by: Andrew Bellury, Steve Albertson, Keith Matejk—Thanks for listening to Season Two of the Epic Levels Mad Dungeon podcast, where D&D hip hop group Epic Levels and a guest create a system-neutral, playable dungeon room using improv, comedy, and lifetimes wasted on roleplaying games.Let us know if you run this or any of our other adventures and use the hashtag: #maddungeonYou can support us via Patreon for early episode releases, bonus map content, extra art, access to our discord server, and lots of other exclusive goodies.Epiclevelsrapgods.compatreon.com/epiclevelsinstagram.com/epic_levelstwitter.com/epic_levelsfacebook.com/epiclevelsrapgodsSubscribe to us on your favorite podcast player, leave a comment and tell your friends.Get nerd merch and stay up to date at EpicLevelsRapGods.comThe Epic Levels Mad Dungeon podcast is hosted by Andrew Bellury, Rob Bellury & Steve Albertson, and produced by Zach Cowan.Theme song by Epic Levels and beat by Inner Resting AKA Mason Grant who also makes tabletop games that you can purchase at Gamma Wave Games.© 2023 Epic Levels. In this episode of The Long View, I'm thrilled to be joined all the way from Iceland by Petur Eythorsson and Jens as we discuss the thematic title, A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (Second Edition). Is this the modern Diplomacy? What are the differences between the first and second editions? Do you hold your friends close, but your enemies closer? Does a knowledge of the books and HBO series enhance the game or disrupt it? All these questions and more are answered in this episode of The Long View. As a bonus, Jens and Petur review the old classic game of Intrigue. A game of deceit, lies and backstabbing. Sense a pattern here? Check out the review! Finally, I review two new games. First up is Lagoon: Land of Druids from Three Hares Games. The review can be found at the 1:27:30 mark of the episode. Find out what makes this game such a great example of a themed abstract. How can a game be both? Listen and find out! Finally, I review the new game Bullfrogs from Thunderworks Games. Is this just the latest light filler, or is it something to hop and croak about? Check out the review which begins at the 1:48:40 mark of the episode. Thanks to The Dice Tower!
