SummaryIn this conversation, Dr. Tonya Harris Cornileus discusses the vital distinction between empathy and compassion, emphasizing that while empathy allows us to feel the pain of others, it is compassion that drives us to take action. We're going to go out on a limb here and say this might be our best episode ever. If you DARE skip this one or hop off this episode, your life will be worse for it. We're not kidding. Why are we saying this so boldly? Why do we so desperately want you to hear today's episode? Because we had the complete honor of chatting with the incredible Brian Biro and let us just tell you what he had to say will change your life - as a business owner, as a leader, as a parent, as a child, and as a human being. Within the first 10 minutes of chatting, Brian had us in TEARS and then again at the end. In the best way possible. Now if you don't know Brian Biro, he is known as America's Breakthrough Coach! A major client of his once described him best when he said: “Brian Biro has the ENERGY of a 10-year-old… the ENTHUSIASM of a 20-year-old, and the WISDOM of a 75-year-old!” (And after chatting with him on today's episode, we could NOT agree more with that. Brian is a coach, speaker, and author who's delivered over 1,800 presentations around the world over the last 30 years. As the author of 15 books including his bestseller, BEYOND SUCCESS, and his brand new THE ROI OF KINDNESS, Brian was rated #1 from over 40 Speakers at 4 consecutive INC. Magazine International Conferences. With degrees from Stanford University and UCLA, Brian has appeared on Good Morning America and CNN. Brian was named one of the top 100 most inspirational graduates in the 75-year history of the UCLA Graduate School of Business. He was also honored as one of the top 10 interactive keynote speakers in North America, and one of the top 60 Motivational Speakers in the WORLD! And lemme just say Brian deserves EVERY single one of those accolades and titles because he truly is the real deal. Today, Brian talks to us about some of the biggest lessons you'll ever learn when it comes to being a leader. But before you mentally check out or even hop off this episode thinking “oh, I'm not a leader..” Stop right there. That's not true, and Brian is going to reveal why. In one of the most impactful, empowering, and energizing episodes we've done, Brian covers the power of the pygmalion effect and how to harness that to change the lives of those around you, and how to create a culture of kindness and how that can skyrocket your life and business (not to mention the lives of those around you) far beyond anything you thought possible. If you're curious to know what sets some of the biggest and most-loved companies apart from their competitors and how you can use the same strategy and principles in your own life or business, don't go anywhere. “There is a positive opportunity. And you and you alone are responsible for your happiness. There is a divine creator who's rooting for you, willing to bless you, willing to lift you, and help you.” - Kellan Fluckiger Listen to more episodes of Your Ultimate Life: your-ultimate-life-by-kellan-fluckiger.simplecast.comWhat you are about to learn Everything happens for a reason. We always hear this phrase every time we were caught up in a bad situation or an instance that we least expect to happen. And I feel that I want all of you to be encouraged I want you to be enabled. Nothing that is going on in your life right now is permanent. Think about this, no matter what you're going through, there is a rainbow after the rain. A sunrise that's coming after the night. Sometimes we believe, but sometimes we don't. In the moment of the struggle, when we are overwhelmed, the night is dark, and everything seems awkward and terrible. It's sometimes difficult to believe, and later sometimes it's easy to think, and so sometimes we believe it, the truth of that principle doesn't change based on your belief. So it's either right, or it's not everything happens for a reason. So the focus of sometimes we believe it, sometimes we don't. There are two points. One, it's true, whether we believe it or not, it doesn't make it right, and my not thinking it doesn't make it false, or is that a word vaulter less accurate? The challenge is always to understand that it is true. It is an inherent part of this world's existence, because people choose dumb things, or because accidents happen and the divine design. Sometimes you can take the idea that everything happens for a reason as comfort and say to yourself, “This difficult thing has happened, or this wonderful thing has happened. And it's comforting to know that there is an intent.” It's comforting to know that there is a purpose here. There are a reason and a benefit and a growth opportunity or a learning opportunity. And then decide I'm going to find that. It is a choice. If everything happens for a reason, because of just how life is or because someone else, including you, might do some stupid or harmful, then my opportunity is to choose to accept that. Now it's not enough at least it has certainly never been enough for me to select that one time to say, Okay, I choose that. Because things don't get better on my schedule. Things don't change as fast as I want. Can we fix it now? It never works like that. So after I choose to accept the truth that things happen for a reason, or there's powerful learning associated with every struggle trial, or negative, perceived adverse event, I have to re-choose. Key Takeaways"You can take comfort in knowing that something happens; everything happens for a reason, or divine learning and capability. Sometimes, on the other hand, we choose to have that be a cop-out. All this stuff happened must be for the reason God did it to me on purpose. ""So the first choice is to choose I choose to accept that truth. There is learning. There is growth, and there is a blessing, there is a divine presence, divine awareness in every event.""That is the ultimate life. It's happy. It's joyful every single day, and understanding that everything happens for a reason. And there is wisdom and power in seeking out that reason, and letting it change, grow and embrace your life. I know when you do that, you move faster and faster toward your ultimate life."
