Morning Footy: A daily soccer podcast from CBS Sports Golazo Network
The MF crew breakdown the USWNT's victory over Brazil in the first ever CONCACAF W Gold Cup final 1-0. Lindsay Horan scores the game winner in the first half which was just enough to get it done. Brazil at times were the better team but made too many unforced errors in the midfield which ultimately cost them. Horan finishes the tournament with 3 goals and 1 assist. The consistency just wasn't there for the US overall as the team was heavily rotated throughout the tournament. There's a long way go for this USWNT but a trophy is a trophy. Congrats to Twila Kilgore as well. Is this redemption for the US team? It's the World Cup!!! On today's episode we talk about the USWNT's 3-0 win over Vietnam in the first group stage game. Julie Ertz and Savannah DeMelo had surprising starts, Trinity Rodman almost went down in the first minute, and Sophia Smith was involved in all three goals! Let us know what you thought at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's episode we discuss the USWNT's 2-0 win over Wales. Was it the perfectly bland send-off game that you're looking for right before a major tournament? Or a medicore harbinger of things to come? We discuss Trinity's two goals, our preferred forward line, and which of us is the flight attendant, the passenger, and the pilot.
We come back after yet another holiday where we begin to get ready for the Women's World Cup, and dig into the US Men's Gold Cup journey (prior to their Semifinal exit) and debate on who's made a decent case for further inclusion in the men's roster. Heading into the WWC we go into the announcement of the new US Captains for the tournament where despite a grassroots campaign on social media, Crystal Dunn was passed over for Lindsay Horan and Alex Morgan.Across the way, we still keep is US-focused during the men's summer transfer window where our hero US Agent (Christian Pulisic) is heading from Chelsea to AC Milan where he may see himself played in a new role, Yunus Musah looks close to heading home to London, and in 2UP/2Down we get ready for MLS All-Star Weekend, career changes on the team, and an ill-timed trade for the Home Team in Atlanta!Follow us on social media!Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and now Threads @FTCUTD!!TikTok @ftcutdpod! We're baaaack!!! The World Cup roster has dropped and Allyson and Madalyn are here for it. And frankly, they have more World Cups under their belts than most of these call-ups. Will our backline survive without Becky? Does Savannah DeMelo deserve the nod? Can Sophia Smith and an on-form Lynne Williams make up for Mal's absence? Let us know what you think at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
Andre Carlisle joins the show to talk about how the USWNT roster shapes up after their final tune-ups before the World Cup. We talk about how Lindsay Horan and Rose Lavelle have had trouble co-existing in Vlatko Andonovski's midfield, how Julie Ertz's return could change things, and Ashley Sanchez's role as a young player on the rise. Plus, we tackle the forward situation after Mallory Swanson's injury. Is Trinity Rodman the simple plug and play answer? Or could Alyssa Thompson or Christen Press enter the fold and make a surprise appearance in New Zealand this summer? Also, how does Catarina Macario's pending return loom over the roster?
On today's show we talk about the three USWNT victories in the She Believes Cup. Mallory Swanson is on fire, Crystal Dunn and Naomi Girma are bringing us hope, and Lindsay Horan is...confusing. Overall, we think the team is trending in the right direction. Let us know what you think at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com or on Instagram @scorepod!
On today's show we discuss the two USWNT wins versus New Zealand! What was the difference between the uninspiring first and pretty good second halves of the first match? Who made a better case for themselves for making that World Cup squad? Does Vlatko know what he's doing?? Let us know what you think at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's episode we discuss two disappointing matches- or were they? Was the 2-1 USWNT loss to England at Wembley really deserved? What was up with that off-sides call? Were there some bright spots to be found, despite the dismal second game against Spain? Well, no, not really. We also discuss the Yates report, and Madalyn's new baby!

The USWNT is headed to the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics! Phew! After all the handwringing, we discuss their 1-0 win over Canada, as well as the 3-0 win over Costa Rica. We dissect Alex Morgan's stone cold PK, the defensive line's solid performance over Canada, and Lindsay Horan's apparent return to form in the final. We also have questions. What's the deal with that Alex Morgan quote saying one player wasn't working in Vlatko's system? And what the heck is going on with the amount of players wearing high socks?! Let us know your opinions at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's podcast we talk about the two USWNT victories against Jamaica and Mexico. Unfortunately, there wasn't too much for us to love about that performance against Mexico, and we try to figure out what exactly is going on with Vlatko. Is this a player problem, a him problem? But hey, at least Naomi Girma is looking good, Sophia scored two more goals, and we finally scored a PK thanks to Kristie Mewis. Thoughts on the match? You can email us at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's episode, we discuss the latest USWNT 3-0 win over Haiti. Even though we mostly agreed with Vlatko's personnel choices, we're starting to wonder how best to let these young ones gel together. We also discuss Alex Morgan's excellent two goals, what it means that Megan Rapinoe still has such an impact, and ask what the heck was going on with that VAR!?! You can find us on Twitter or Instagram @scorepod, or send us an email at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
Today we break down the two USWNT wins over Colombia. And even though Sophia Smith and Rose combined to score twice, and Ashley Sanchez was a definite bright spot, and Emily Fox gives off the aura of a five-year veteran with only fourteen caps, we may be just a little bit worried about that whole Olympic qualifying thing. We discuss predictions for the tournament, Megan Rapinoe's Presidential Medal of Honor, and how best use Andi Sullivan.
On today's episode, we chat all about the two USWNT vs. Australia matches away in Australia. It was exciting to watch so many players get their first caps! We talk about the incredible Casey Murphy, all the possibilities for the defensive and forward lines, and that very unfortunate own Becky goal in the second game. What did you think? Let us know at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's episode we say our final goodbye to Carli Lloyd (except for her post-season run with Gotham FC- she never stops). The USWNT drew Korea and then crushed them 6-0 in a fascinating pair of matches. It was Lindsay Horan's 100th cap. And we speculate a lot on what all this fanfare for Carli means for the fate of Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Kelley O'Hara. Let us know who YOU think should get a roster spot for the upcoming potential Australia matches in November.
On today's episode we talk about the USWNT's 6-1 win over New Zealand and their 0-0 tie with Australia in the Olympics. Look. It's not a real optimistic episode. The gals didn't give us much to work with, but we share our high points, as well as our predictions for Friday's match against The Netherlands. Let us know your thoughts at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
It's our last episode of 2020! On today's show we count down our top 10 women's soccer moments of the year. We also choose our top 5 USWNT players and our top 3 goals. Plus, we make predictions for the 2021 Olympics roster, and give a MASSIVE thank you to all our listeners! Doing this podcast has been a highlight for us during this mostly bad year, so THANK YOU for listening and letting us know your thoughts! Have more thoughts? What were your top 10 moments? What did we miss? Email us at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
It has been an absolutely unbelievable week in women's soccer. We kick off the episode with how excited we are about the new 2022 NWSL team Angel City, then dig into every NWSL Champions Cup quarter final and make our predictions for the semis. Let us know your take on this tournament at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
On today's episode we spend a lot of time talking about what life has been like for us during the Covid-19 outbreak in the United States, especially since Allyson is a health care professional who works in a hospital. But we also talk about what the cancelling of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics means for the USWNT, the resignation of Carlos Cordeiro, and which USWNT members are providing us with the best Insta-content during social distancing.
We're going to the Olympics!! The USWNT scored their Olympic berth against Mexico on Friday night for the chance to become the first team to win the Olympics after the World Cup. We discuss the semi-final against Mexico and the final against Canada, as well as the news that the USMNT are speaking out for the women against USSF. Also, we worry over who will produce all the great Insta content if Sonnett gets cut for the Olympic (spoiler: we think she'll be fine).

Apparently, if, like Beetlejuice, you say Ali Krieger's name enough times, Jill Ellis will put her on the USWNT. Plus, we spotlight Lindsay Horan. Follow us on Twitter @scorepod or shoot us an email at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com
