Alexi Lalas and David Mosse are joined by FOX Sports Insider Doug McIntyre to break down which USMNT players could (or should) be on the move this summer. From Matt Turner's limited minutes to Gio Reyna's stalled momentum and Johnny Cardoso's Atletico Madrid links — the guys dig into who needs a fresh start ahead of the 2026 World Cup. They also dive into the USMNT Training Camp roster updates. Walker Zimmerman, Nathan Harriel, and Paxten Aaronson will join the squad, as Folarin Balogun and others step out due to injuries. Is it still “Title or Bust” for the United States, or have the expectations shifted? The show continues with a look around the global game. The Nations League Final Four is set with Germany facing Portugal and Spain taking on France, while South America gets heated in CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying. On the women's side, the USWNT rolled past China in a 3–0 win led by Catarina Macario and Sam Coffey, with another friendly coming up against Jamaica.Mosse breaks down the latest club results, including PSG and Cruz Azul's domination in their respective continental titles matches. Back stateside, LAFC clinched a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup with a comeback win over Club América. Messi put on a clinic in the MLS as Inter Miami crushed the Crew, LA Galaxy snapped a 17-match winless streak, and D.C. United pulled off a big road upset over Cincinnati. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso, presented by our friends at Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. Another disappointing night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Atlanta United, losing 1-0 to Philadelphia who go to the top spot in the Eastern Conference with the win. Personally, there were things I really liked about the shape change to play two central midfielders ahead of one holding midfielder and essentially two up top, although Miguel Almirón was essentially in a free role. However, it wasn't good enough on the night, the Union earned a deserved (although unlucky) penalty and converted to win 1-0. It doesn't get any easier for Atlanta United next weekend as they host the team level on points with Philadelphia in FC Cincinnati on Sunday night. Hot take alert, I'm a fan of the LA Galaxy announcing Greg Vanney's extension on Friday even though the team is still winless in regular season play in 2025. The negotiations started after Vanney won MLS Cup last December and were finalized recently. With the amount of injuries the Galaxy have tried to navigate this season, including to their 4 top attackers, a struggle was inevitable. A knee-jerk reaction to move on from Vanney after he rebuilt the club into a successful winning team would be the wrong move in my opinion. Crystal Palace earned their first major trophy by winning the FA Cup 1-0 over Manchester City. That will qualify them for the Europa League next year, their first time in a major European competition. Chelsea's women completed the domestic treble with their FA Cup win over Manchester United that saw USWNT members Catarina Macario score a goal and Naomi Girma marshal the backline to a clean sheet.Napoli and Inter both drew in Serie A yesterday, taking the title down to the wire. Their matches will be played on Friday with Napoli holding a one point advantage in the table. If they finish the night tied at the top of the standings, there will be a one-game playoff for the league title. PSV and Sporting won the Dutch and Portuguese top flight titles over the weekend respectively. Aberdeen defender Jack Mackenzie was hit by a plastic seat thrown by his own fans, intended for Dundee United fans celebrating on the field after their win that qualified them for Europe at the Dons' expense. He was bloodied and required treatment, the SPFL called the act "moronic". The great-great grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford has become the majority shareholder of Scottish 2nd division side Livingston. Calvin Ford saw his new team win in their promotion semifinal. They will play either Dundee FC or Ross County for an opportunity to earn promotion to the Scottish Premiership. On the Club World Cup front, reports out of Spain indicate that an unnamed Brazilian club has made a "tempting" offer to Cristiano Ronaldo to join them for the tournament. Al Nassr is not in the event and Ronaldo is out of contract on June 30. Al Nassr also missed out on trophies this season and won't be in the Asian Champions League Elite tournament next season. Real Madrid paid the release clause for Bournemouth's CB Dean Huijsen. They have secured their new manager Xabi Alonso for the tournament, are working to bring in Trent Alexander-Arnold for the event as well, and reports indicate they could execute the buyback clause on Como's Nico Paz in time for the tournament as well. They are still chasing a left back too. New ticket options are available at FIFA.com/tickets along with hospitality opportunities at FIFA.com/hospitality.More Espresso coming tomorrow on the SDH Network.

Emma Hayes has named her USWNT roster for the April camp, and there's plenty to dissect. Master Tesfatsion welcomes Lisa Carlin to break down the big decisions—Trinity Rodman and Catarina Macario are back, but where will the Chelsea star fit? Will Phallon Tullis-Joyce stake her claim as the No. 1 keeper? Ashley Hatch and Alana Cook return for the first time since 2023, while Lily Yohannes continues to earn Hayes' trust. Plus, what kind of test will Brazil provide for the Olympic champions? Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. The USWNT started the SheBelieves Cup strongly with a 2-0 win over Colombia last night in Houston. Ally Sentnor's bombazo was the headline, Catarina Macario also scored. Japan thrashed Australia 4-0 in the other match earlier in the day. Big fan of MLS using the "Only the Captain" rule this season, essentially a throwback to the days that only the captain could speak to the referee. They specifically want to see in contentious situations that the referee only speaks with the team captains. This worked well in the Euros, I think you'll see a good number of yellow cards early on as everyone adjusts their behavior, but I like the move. Only 9 coaches in MLS started the 2023 season with their current clubs, only 16 started last season with their current clubs. Wild numbers for a league that doesn't have any pressure, huh? The coaches definitely feel that pressure. Two familiar faces in new places are Gregg Berhalter in Chicago and Bruce Arena in San Jose. Will be interesting to see how both of them fare. Biggest roster move lately in MLS is Cengiz Ünder joining LAFC on loan from Fenerbahçe. I still have questions about LAFC this season, but Ünder could provide some answers for them. Awesome to see Chris Richards invest in his hometown team, the Birmingham Legion. Rangers in Scotland might be getting new investment from the San Francisco 49ers. Still some things to work through including the Scottish FA rules on dual ownership (49ers own Leeds United), but this could be a big shot in the arm for the current #2 team in Scotland that needs help to close the gap with Celtic. Some tasty matchups drawn for the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. PSG-Liverpool, Real Madrid-Atleti, Bayern-Leverkusen, Benfica-Barcelona are the highlights for me. Christian Pulisic says that all is good with him at Milan, refuting Italian media reports. Argentine media reports say that players and clubs are "fed up" with Foster Gillett not living up to agreements. More Espresso on Monday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.
The winter transfer window has heated up, with big moves on both the men's and women's side of things. We get into all of this and more on the latest Urban Pitch Podcast episode, in addition to discussing the jam-packed league phase of the Champions League, Cobi Jones' statue for LA Galaxy, and more moves across the world of football. Alexi Lalas and David Mosse are back and dive into all things U.S. Soccer. The USMNT coaching search continues, focusing on many non-American coaches. After recent back surgery, it is announced that USMNT captain Tyler Adams will be out for the start of the EPL season. With the Olympics kicking off this week Alexi and Mosse preview the tournament. The U-23 Men's Olympic team will face France on Wednesday, and the U.S. Women's Olympic team will take on Zambia on Thursday. Lynn Williams replaced Catarina Macario on the Women's squad. (8:17) In MLS, the guys recapped Miami's 2-1 win over Chicago with goals from Matias Rojas and Jordi Alba. They continue to sit at the top of the East Standings. Philadelphia's Cavan Sullivan also made his MLS debut at just 14-years-old. In the West, LA Galaxy and LAFC both secured 3 points ahead of the MLS All-Star Game. Additionally, Leagues Cup begins this week hosted by the United States and Canada. (34:55) To wrap the show, Alexi and Mosse discussed intangibles the USMNT is missing, how Mexico, USA, and Canada stack up heading into the 2026 World Cup cycle, and a few of Alexi's own Olympic memories. The U.S. Women's National Team always have world-class forwards. That is no more evident than this World Cup, when injuries to Catarina Macario and Mallory Swanson don't feel as daunting as they might to other nations. But is Vlatko Andonovski deploying his attack in the most optimal way possible? Should Alex Morgan be benched? Is the young Alyssa Thompson ready to start? Can Lynn Williams be moved centrally? Is this the most champagne problem in the whole tournament? You know it! Art by Eli Elbogen (IG: eliwritesloud) Music by Devin Drobka's Bell Dance Songs
We're baaaack!!! The World Cup roster has dropped and Allyson and Madalyn are here for it. And frankly, they have more World Cups under their belts than most of these call-ups. Will our backline survive without Becky? Does Savannah DeMelo deserve the nod? Can Sophia Smith and an on-form Lynne Williams make up for Mal's absence? Let us know what you think at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
The United States Women's National Team has been formed for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, and we discuss the roster on Episode 112 of the USA Soccercast. The and their jersey numbers - we discuss some of the players that Vlatko decided to include. There were some new players that made the roster as well as some veterans, and we sing some of the praises of the players that earned their spot on the plane. There were also players who didn't make the roster, whether it was due to injury or a coach's decision. Some of them are incredible talents who will be missed, like Becky Sauerbrunn, Catarina Macario, Christen Press, Samantha Mewis, or Tobin Heath. Others just didn't feel to be in the plans of head coach Vlatko Andonovski. We discuss some of them and why those players didn't make the cut. Finally, the USWNT are facing a lot of pressure as they try to win a third straight World Cup title, something no men's or women's team has ever done. They've already faced immense pressure as they struggle with the prevailing thought that the world has caught up with them. However, this team has an ability to lock in and focus on the goal in front of them better than most teams in the course of sports history, and that helps us get excited about the tournament as it begins in just under 30 days.
