Huw Williams joins Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal to review the US Women's National team's draw with the Netherlands at the 2023 World Cup. After a 3-0 win versus Vietnam in the first match of the group stage, Vlatko Andonovski's team played to a 1-1 draw. It was a rematch of the 2019 final against a very good team. The US did not have a good first half but they were definitely better in the second half. Was it the lone sub (yes we discuss that), a change in tactics (a bit) or the US getting mad? Especially Horan. Andonovski went with the same lineup. We discuss possible alternatives. The US is coached by Kansas City resident Vlatko Andonovski. Williams and Andonovski worked together in the NWSL and in local soccer. The USWNT faces Viet Nam, Portugal, and the Netherlands in the group stage and Williams talks about what the United States faces with each one. As we move into the holiday season, it’s the time for giving. The internet has given us a nice, juicy Orlando City transfer rumor to discuss, so we break down a report out of Portugal and why it doesn’t make sense for the Lions. Also, our sources say it isn’t happening and we believe them, otherwise, they wouldn’t be our sources! Speaking of that, we’ll get into all of the questions that people were asking about when our initial story came out. There was plenty of news regarding the Orlando Pride, including a report of a trade involving Emily Sonnett to the Washington Spirit. We don’t have as good of a read on whether this one is happening but we still debunk some of the social media noise surrounding the deal. Alex Morgan made things happen in England during her short stay and we’re not talking about on the field. Kudos to Alex for getting the Tottenham women’s team equal facilities for training. We also discuss the Concacaf Champions League, which wrapped up at Exploria Stadium on Tuesday night. It was a valiant effort from LAFC, and the MLS side nearly did enough to win it, but in the end, maybe Bob Bradley’s side needed to lose in order to win next time out. Or, like Tigres, maybe they need to lose three times to win the fourth. Something like that. We had nothing in the mailbag this week but we forgive you. It’s a busy time of year. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. That’s all for this week. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here’s how show No. 228 went down: 0:15 - Franco Cervi isn’t likely to land in Orlando. We tell you why it doesn’t make sense for the Lions and I rant about Twitter comments because why not? 23:28 - Orlando Pride stars Emily Sonnet and Alex Morgan are in the news. We discuss. 49:11 - The Concacaf Champions League got really Concacaf-y, and what you can expect on The Mane Land in the coming days. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Kelley O'Hara joins Laughter Permitted to talk about her career on the USWNT, her uber-competitiveness (it extends to crossword puzzles) and what it's been like hosting her podcast, "Just Women's Sports." Kelley also discusses her decision to stand during the national anthem and the united message the USWNT has on racial justice. Stay tuned for THREE "Zoom bombs" from Kelley's U.S. teammates and good friends Alex Morgan, Allie Long and Emily Sonnett, who each tell their favorite Kelley stories. Finally, Kelley and Lynn find a shared fondness for the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise, while Julie makes a year-making discovery during "takeaways" in the close of the show.
Since our last show, there has been plenty of news and we’re here to discuss it — some of it with a very special guest. Orlando City announced its post-season roster decisions and we discuss them, even though none of them were all that surprising. The biggest talking point was that Dom Dwyer is now a free agent, but even that wasn’t all that big of a surprise. We’re also talking about Chris Mueller, Daryl Dike, and Andres Perea getting call-ups to the U.S. Men’s National Team. (The show was recorded prior to last night’s match, so we didn’t get to celebrate Mueller’s big night.) Also, Joao Moutinho had surgery and that’s unfortunately going to take a while to recover from, so there’s that. OCSC Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi joins us this week and we discuss the 2020 season, what the priorities are for the off-season, how the Lions handled the COVID-19 pandemic so well, Moutinho’s injury, and more. Big thanks to Luiz for joining us and being so generous with his time. We touched on the Utah Royals moving to Kansas City and the European interest in Orlando Pride defender Emily Sonnett. Losing Sonnett would make the trade for her disastrous, so hopefully Marc Skinner can convince her to stay with Orlando. Our mailbag asks us about Designated Player slots, Christmas decorations, and Patreon possibilities. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. That’s all for this week. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here’s how show No. 226 went down: 0:15 - We go through Orlando City’s roster decisions, the loaned players who were purchased, and which players are leaving. Plus, Lions on the USMNT and Joao’s ouchie. 34:05 - Luiz Muzzi joins us and gives us the front office perspective of 2020 and the upcoming off-season. 52:34 - NWSL and Orlando Pride talk and this week’s mailbag. While Rose Lavelle, Samantha Mewis, and Emily Sonnett are currently plying their trade in Europe, earlier this spring the trio co-hosted a USWNT Classics pre-game chat leading into a re-air of the USA’s matchup against Australia in April 2019. Julie and Lynn also introduce a new segment in the close of the show.

The 2020 MLS campaign is underway and we’re here to discuss Saturday’s season-opening game between Orlando City and Real Salt Lake. We then welcome in Sean Curtis from Burgundy Wave to give us the lowdown on what’s up in Colorado besides the altitude and what we might see out of the Rapids — a team the Lions only face once per season. OCB news!), and the Orlando SeaWolves. We answer a wide range of questions from our mailbag, too. If there’s something you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally, we give you our key match-ups for Saturday night as well as our predictions for the Lions at the Rapids. Here’s how show No. 187 went down: 0:16 - Orlando City’s draw vs. Real Salt Lake, the might of the midfield, and our Man of the Match. 33:25 - Sean Curtis from Burgundy Wave drops in on us to discuss the ‘Pids and what we can expect Saturday night. 46:43 - New Pride signings, OCB’s roster, the SheBelieves Cup, the SeaWolves, this week’s mailbag, and our key match-ups and predictions. Total Soccer Show: USMNT, EPL, MLS, Champions League and more ...
Lost to discuss from the USMNT's 1-0 win over Costa Rica. We look at the team's attacking and defensive shape, the patterns of play we saw successfully implemented, the individual performances of players like Jesus Ferreira and Ulysses Llanez, and plenty more.Starting at 46:30, we take a look at the USWNT's 8-0 win over Panama. It was all a little too easy for the US because Panama provided way too much space to play into, but we highlight the moments we enjoyed, including little bits of magic from Tobin Heath, Emily Sonnett, and Rose Lavelle.
So, we're so rusty I dumped last week's show which means we barely talk about Yimmy, and we are FAR more measured about losing Emily Sonnett who is OUR FAVORITE. If you want to come to our house party for Sarah Iannarone, email morrisonicpod@gmail.com or DM @morrisonicpod.
Did Wednesday’s first piece of Portland Thorns news justify an emergency podcast? Given who the team gave up and what, in the form of next week’s first pick in the NWSL’s College Draft, the team got in return, the trade of Emily Sonnett and Caitlin Foord to the Orlando Pride certainly rises to the standard. How you feel about the trade in undoubtedly influenced by how you feel about the 2020 draft class. To talk about that, we asked the industry standard in collegiate coverage, Top Drawer Soccer’s Travis Clark, to talk about who will likely be available next Thursday in Baltimore, Maryland, and how they fit at the NWSL level.

If you want to follow along and make your own World 11, check out all the nominess on The Equalizer here.
