He was unanimously named an LNB All-Star twice, winning the All-Star Game MVP once, and was a three-time Pro A Best Young Player from 2021 to 2023.Following a historic rookie season in the NBA in which he led the league in blocks per game, Wembanyama was unanimously named the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year and became the first rookie and youngest player ever to be named to the All-Defensive First Team. La batalla por el control del baloncesto europeo ha entrado en una fase decisiva. Mientras la Euroliga trabaja para consolidar un modelo más estable y rentable inspirado en las franquicias de la NBA, la liga estadounidense avanza con su proyecto NBA Europe, lo que abre un escenario de competencia —o posible colaboración— por el futuro del deporte en el continente. La Euroliga ya ha recibido 17 ofertas de equipos interesados en convertirse en franquicias permanentes. Su objetivo es transformar la competición en una liga más cerrada, con 24 clubes y entre 18 y 19 plazas fijas, incluso valorando un sistema por conferencias. Con ello busca asegurar estabilidad financiera, aumentar el valor comercial y ofrecer más seguridad a los inversores y a los clubes participantes. Las cifras reflejan la dimensión del proyecto: la valoración total de la Euroliga rondaría los 1.400 millones de euros y la de sus clubes unos 3.200 millones. Si hace unos días hablábamos del enorme impacto económico que generan los playoffs de la liga estadounidense, ahora el foco está en el ambicioso proyecto que prepara para Europa. Según ha publicado Financial Times, la competición norteamericana estaría dispuesta a movilizar cerca de 3.000 millones de dólares para poner en marcha una nueva liga en el continente europeo. El plazo para atraer a los doce clubes que formarían parte de esta iniciativa finalizará el 12 de marzo del próximo año. Aun así, siguen existiendo muchas incógnitas sobre cómo encajaría esta futura NBA Europa frente a la actual Euroliga y de qué manera podrían convivir dos torneos de semejante dimensión. La NBA pretende desarrollar este plan junto a la FIBA, organismo internacional que regula el baloncesto mundial. De acuerdo con fuentes próximas al proyecto, ya existirían alrededor de 120 inversores y grupos interesados en participar.
