For the Glory KC is back with the 151st episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City's 2025 MLS season has mercifully come to an end. On a points per game basis, it was the worst season in team history. This past week brought about the biggest series of offseason changes in recent memory. Of the 17 players David Lee and his staff had to decide on, only four are guaranteed to be back in 2026 (with ongoing negotiations with two more). As things stand today, there are just 12 players on the roster.Sheena and I work our way through all of the Sporting KC players whose options were declined, whose loans were not picked up and who are simply out of contract and not in negotiations to return. There were some names, like Erik Thommy and Logan Ndenbe, that fans took harder than others. All of this should lead to a busy offseason since Lee has room to add up to 18 players to the roster.Beyond the roster moves and subsequent press conference, Sporting KC made other news around the US Open Cup, the MLS SuperDraft, coaching moves and an international call-up. We even spend a few minutes on the Decision Day snoozer between SKC and the Houston Dynamo and the upcoming MLS offseason schedule. The KC Current had a pretty terrible week too, primarily because of the injury to Temwa Chawinga. They also happened to lose a meaningless game to the Houston Dash, but that paled in comparison to the injury news. There was some positive news around the Current with numerous international call-ups and the expansion of their Academy setup. In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:KC Comets newsThe United States are bidding to co-host the 2031 Women's World CupLots of USMNT/USWNT results and newsand a big overall of Men's College soccerHere is a rundown of topics and start times:Sporting KC are down to just 12 players after cuts - 7:31David Lee gives insight into the next couple months - 56:23SKC Round-up (including US Open Cup & finale results) - 1:14:15MLS and SKC Offseason Schedule - 1:32:55Bad news for the KC Current - 1:37:33Digital Crawl - 1:50:49Upcoming GamesUSWNT vs. Portugal, Sun. Sean, Brooke, and Maggie (plus Stockton for fans who stick around until the end!) are back to break down all things Royals. From a six-game unbeaten run to the climb into 13th place and the joy of playing spoiler down the stretch, home fans were rewarded with a two-win week at the Riot. Taking down the Houston Dash and Racing Louisville in just a six-day span, we got to celebrate incredible team form as well as some individual masterclasses. Captain Paige Monaghan's streak continued, Janni Nation flew their flags high, Kaleigh Riehl found form on both sides of the ball, and Cloe Lacasse was back on the scoresheet (only aiming for the upper 90, of course). And what would a week be without Mina Tanaka dazzling Royals fans, NWSL viewers, and anyone lucky enough to witness the goal of the week winner, goal of the year contender, and mind-boggling skill behind that finish? We also preview our game against expansion comrades Bay FC this upcoming Saturday and talk through the almighty playoff generator (created by Alison Gale — https://bsky.app/profile/agale.bsky.social) to see just how our beloved Royals could pull off a historic (albeit nearly impossible) run to the postseason. Today's episode is a fun one! The URFC squad is back to break down a rainy showdown in North Carolina, where the Royals battled to a dramatic 1-1 draw (or a 2-0 win, depending on who you ask). Paige Monaghan stays hot with her second goal in as many weeks, and the Royals brought the heat with a high press, battled through a weather delay, and delivered pure NWSL After Dark chaos in the final 15 minutes. After a soft penalty saw them go down in the 89', the squad showed serious heart and snatched a late equalizer in the 90+4'. We welcome the team back to the Riot on Sunday, where they'll face the much-improved Houston Dash as they continue to fight their way up from the bottom of the table. COYR! Royal Riot is presented by ABC4Utah.
