Annie, Ella and André discuss the ultra cruel 2-0 loss to Orlando Pride that clinched them their first ever NWSL Shield. Then, things got a lot worse. We begin with a discussion about Andi Sullivan being stretchered off the pitch, and hope beyond hope that it's not as serious as it seemed. Then we review a depleted Spirits side showing a lot of fight and ability to execute a vastly different gameplan. We also discuss the curious center back decision and cruelest of deflections which led to Orlando's two goals (as if they needed the help, Soccer Gods!). We also preview the Spirits upcoming match back at Audi against Racing (Rahsing) Louisville. Huw Williams joins Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal to review the US Women's National team's draw with the Netherlands at the 2023 World Cup. After a 3-0 win versus Vietnam in the first match of the group stage, Vlatko Andonovski's team played to a 1-1 draw. It was a rematch of the 2019 final against a very good team. The US did not have a good first half but they were definitely better in the second half. Was it the lone sub (yes we discuss that), a change in tactics (a bit) or the US getting mad? Especially Horan. Andonovski went with the same lineup. We discuss possible alternatives. The US is coached by Kansas City resident Vlatko Andonovski. Williams and Andonovski worked together in the NWSL and in local soccer. The USWNT faces Viet Nam, Portugal, and the Netherlands in the group stage and Williams talks about what the United States faces with each one. USA: 1-Alyssa Naeher; 23-Emily Fox, 4-Naomi Girma, 8-Julie Ertz, 19-Crystal Dunn; 17-Andi Sullivan, 10-Lindsey Horan (Capt.), 9-Savannah DeMelo (16-Rose Lavelle, 46); 11-Sophia Smith, 13-Alex Morgan, 20-Trinity Rodman Substitutes not used: 18-Casey Murphy, 21-Aubrey Kingsbury, 2-Ashley Sanchez, 3-Sofia Huerta, 5-Kelley O'Hara; 6-Lynn Williams, 7-Alyssa Thompson, 12-Alana Cook, 14-Emily Sonnett, 15-Megan Rapinoe, 22-Kristie Mewis Head coach: Vlatko Andonovski Learn more about your ad choices. It was a star-powered affair in Miami ion Tuesday as Diddy, DJ Khaled and Camila Cabello watched Messi put on a show in a rout of Atlanta. Meanwhile, the USWNT plays tonight and The New York Post reports the team's starters including Alex Morgan, Andi Sullivan, Sophia Smith, Naomi Girma, Emily Fox, Trinity Rodman and Crystal Dunn seemingly decided not to mouth the words to the anthem the other night. Megyn Kelly is not happy about that.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode, we discuss the latest USWNT 3-0 win over Haiti. Even though we mostly agreed with Vlatko's personnel choices, we're starting to wonder how best to let these young ones gel together. We also discuss Alex Morgan's excellent two goals, what it means that Megan Rapinoe still has such an impact, and ask what the heck was going on with that VAR!?! You can find us on Twitter or Instagram @scorepod, or send us an email at settlethescorepodcast@gmail.com.
Today we break down the two USWNT wins over Colombia. And even though Sophia Smith and Rose combined to score twice, and Ashley Sanchez was a definite bright spot, and Emily Fox gives off the aura of a five-year veteran with only fourteen caps, we may be just a little bit worried about that whole Olympic qualifying thing. We discuss predictions for the tournament, Megan Rapinoe's Presidential Medal of Honor, and how best use Andi Sullivan.
Sandra Herrera and Lisa Roman welcome Lori Lindsey to the show to preview the USWNT Friendlies vs Colombia. They discuss the importance of the US playing two friendlies before heading to Mexico for the Women's World Cup Qualifiers in the Concacaf W Championship. Lori reflects on the importance of these lead-up matches as a player and what this could mean for player rotation during these two friendlies. Plus, they dive into the midfield tactics and what to expect from the USA against a midfield like Colombia. The conversation naturally turns to the defensive midfield six role and what we need to see from Andi Sullivan. Then, they each give their player predictions as to which players they want to see show up be and have a great handful of matches. Full preview, analysis and more. The United States Women's National Team had a productive trip Down Under, and we lead Episode 67 with a recap of their matches against Australia. There were a few players who seized the opportunity they were given, like Ashley Hatch, Midge Purce, Casey Murphy, and Andi Sullivan. And, Vlatko Andonovski will have some choices to make going forward about which direction he wishes to steer the USWNT as it gears up for World Cup qualifying and Olympic qualifying next summer. After the break, we move to the USMNT, who have 3 World Cup qualifiers in January. The venues were recently announced, and we discuss the choices of Columbus and St. Paul for the home matches on January 27th and February 2nd, along with Canada selecting Hamilton as the site of their home match against the USMNT on January 30th. Finally, we get into the rumored 2022 home and away jerseys for U.S. Soccer, and it's time to opine that blank white or royal jerseys are not enough, and we must do better.
