Marvel Comics continue running off longtime X-Men readers. Hellfire Gala was already derided after initial promo materials featuring characters in outlandish costumes. The X-Men team take it to another level with their free X-Men Hellfire Gala Guide this week. How long before readers refuse to come back? The industry is trying to figure out how to develop writing and art talent in today's climate of creating at home. Dok and Wes talk about the history and current climate of developing new talent. This week we address the SciFi announcements.Let’s start with Fox and the announcement that The Orville, the Seth Macfarlane Sci-Fi show paying homage to classic Star Trek: The Next Generation, will be moving from Fox Television to Hulu for season 3. Macfarlane made the announcement that due to other commitments, that to provide the show with the integrity that he wants, that Hulu makes more sense as a delivery method. No mention was made for international audiences on how the move to Hulu will affect them. KJ hopes that CRAVE TV will continue to host HULU content in Canada.CBS All Access hosted several events including two specific Star Trek announcements. One being the launch of Season 3 for STD… I mean Star Trek; Discovery. Now having followed the Red Angel 700 years into the future, we really don’t know what we are going to get with STD. New characters are coming onto the cast, but we are really left with the unknown a as the antique Discovery needs to find its place in what may be a dystopian future… or maybe not. What we do know is that they are indeed in the PICARD timeline.Speaking of Picard, the full trailer for the new Star Trek: Picard series looked fantastic. A combination of shows like Dark matter, Deep Six and FarScape as well as the traditional Star trek universe, and we now know at least 4 characters we love from the original TNG. Ryker and Troi are still matrimonius (is that a real word?) as well we now know that Commander Data and Seven of Nine have made their way to the new future. We can’t wait until late 2020 for this one.Also on the show we talked about several KickStarter Projects. Taking place in the middle of the Fox X-Men universe, The Gifted is a 13 episode season that explores the adventures of a family as they are thrust into the battle between humans and mutant-kind. When a brother and sister publicly display their mutant abilities by accident in high school they are immediately put on the run alongside their parents from the evil Sentinel Services, who are tasked to capture and contain dangerous mutants. The family eventually joins up with the Mutant Underground, a group of powerful mutants who are the fantasy version of the Underground Railroad from times of slavery in the United States. The show works on a "fetch quest" of the week premise and finds the family and the Mutant Underground heading from one position to another to garner some new knowledge or pick up some item to ease they lives on the run. With some cameos by mutants from a deep cut in Marvel's X-Men comic lore and a decent side story about the Mutant Underground members, the show rises to the level of mediocre TV but flounders just about everywhere else.

A bizarre set of items this week (but what else is new) as Jord and Cait each bring in something that might not be considered their favourite, but they're curious enough to wonder what the other thought, specifically about 2006's postwar suburban zombie satire Fido and one of the stranger offerings from Marvel's X-Men office, 2011's Wolverine & The X-Men. How was that? Answers where they've always been. Also this week! Touching base on Jordan's constitution, Mulan is not musical, Iron Fist is meh, the 6ix God returns to save us again, we remember Bernie Wrightston and updates to what we've been checking out.
