For our last episode on The Human Target, we go over the recent excellent run by writer Tom King and artist Greg Smallwood. Christopher Chance is back and this time he has to meet with members of the beloved 1980s version of the Justice League. You want The Human Target chatting on a couch with G'nort? You've got it. He also falls in love with Ice, works for Lex Luthor, has to look over his shoulder to check for Batman -- and lots of fun stuff. Although a very different approach than Peter Milligan's, this is a delightful run! As fans of the 1980s JLI, we really enjoyed this! Next episode we dive into a little-known indie comic called Watchmen (yep, that one).

On the newest episode of Comics and Chronic the guys are talking DC's The Human Target from Tom King and Greg Smallwood. But first how are Jake and Cody's Smash Bros. matches going? Who do they like to play as? Where does this comic take place? Who is Christopher Chance? How's the art? Does this give off 1950s/60s vibes? What iteration of the Justice League is featured in this comic? Was somebody trying to kill The Human Target or Lex Luthor? Do we like how Guy Gardner is written? Is this a sexy comic? Do we trust Ice? Can anybody be trusted? Who would we cast in a live action version of this? Has DC been nerfing Martian Manhunter? Is MM's issue the weakest? Do we think we know the answer to the mystery? Does Christopher Chance have enough rizz to have a threesome with Fire and Ice? Who would we be if we were in the comic? Does Cody cry after sex? Why is Cody shirtless? Was the poison actually Martian jizz? Does Jake's fandom of Coldplay hurt the podcast? Was this the best comic we've read in awhile? Is this the final recording with Cody in LA? Does Anthony have to compete with Ice Spice for the Bronx? Find out the answer to these and others on the newest Comics and Chronic! In this episode, Chris welcomes back Travis Snell from the “GeekVerse” podcast to look at the first volume of one of his favorite comic runs, “Moon Knight - Lunatic”. Writer Jeff Lamire teams with artist Greg Smallwood and colorist Jordie Bellaire to turn Marc Spector's world as Moon Knight upside down. Marc Spector — a.k.a. Moon Knight/Jake Lockley/Steven Grant — has been fighting criminals and keeping New York City safe for years…or has he? When Marc wakes up in an insane asylum with no powers and a lifetime's worth of medical records, all of his identities are called into question. He's surrounded by faces: haughty doctor, hostile orderlies, vacant-eyed patients. But maybe those faces are just masks. Some might hide friends, others enemies. Or even worse: gods and monsters! Marc's got to get out. The moon is high, the mask is on — but if he succeeds in escaping, will he find only a city of sand? And what will it mean when Marc Spector comes face-to-face with…Moon Knight?! Everything you know may be wrong — and you'd be insane not to find out for sure! This week, we're reading the 2022 Human Target limited series by Tom King and Greg Smallwood. You'll remember how much we love Tom King from multiple previous episodes like Mr. Miracle and Superman Woman of Tomorrow. In this latest series, Christopher Chance, aka the Human Target, is on his latest cases protecting Lex Luthor when things go sideways. An assassination attempt Chance didn't see coming leaves him vulnerable and left trying to solve his own murder, as he has 12 days to discover just who in the DC Universe hated Luthor enough to want him dead by slow-acting poison. And the prime suspects happen to be…the Justice League International? In this hard-boiled, seemingly detective noir story Chance find himself interrogating the cast of characters from the famed 1987 series by Keith Giffen. We're talking Ice, Fire, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, G'Nort, Martian Manhunter, Rocket Red, and even...the shadow of the Batman. There are twists and turns, a little bit of love-making, and a whole lot of drinking.
