Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we bring you a cure for the Halloween candy hangover, because while the jack-o-lanterns might already be going soft there’s still the smell of Frankenberry in the air. That’s right Cerealites, it’s time for our “cerealized" version of a Halloween Special: The 5th annual Franken Berry Season Show! This year it’s all frights and bite-sized delights with a spooky look back at the kooky horror of all those Gremlins movies that weren’t actually technically "Gremlins" movies, from Ghoulies to Munchies and on up to the very cream of the knockoff crop - Critters! We even talk to star Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo) about working on the original Critters back in 1986 and now returning to the franchise with the horrifying 2019 release of Critters Attack! Join Grim Shea, Marke, and Jimmy the Gent for everything we think we can remember from these 80s classics, a roundtable discussion with Dee Wallace at SDCC 2019, plus an all new recently-unearthed-from-the-crypt episode of Saturday Morning Cereal Playhouse!

The powerful and creative Leo Partible, joined the Hall H Show (Aaron Nabus and Alex Benedicto) at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Leo is a creative force of nature who enjoys expressing himself through music, poetry, movies, comic books and more. He is also more than willing to give back and guide others who embark on their own creative journey. As a fellow Filipino-American creator, we appreciated his candor and his willingness to be vulnerable with us as he shared his experiences and insight on this episode. We left motivated to create and learn everything, as well as gaining more confidence to take chances and not be afraid of failure. We hope you feel the same way after listening to this conversation with Leo Partible! ~Aaron

So this episode took a while to get out. Most of that was me being busy, then when I wasn't busy I was lazy. You know how it is. Regardless, I used to edit the show in the older version of Garageband that has Podcast edited features. This is how I had chapter titles, album art, and all that nonsense. A couple of years ago, Apple released a new version of Garageband that removed Podcast editing features in favor of more streamlined stuff. Well the old version of Garageband finally stopped working on my computer, so I had to move to the new one, and it took a while to learn the ins and outs of how to get everything to work and sound right. It works, but chapter titles are no more, so keep that in mind if you used them. In this episode, we have a geek out on SDCC 2019, even though that was a long time ago. To be fair, this episode was recorded a long time ago, so it all works out I guess. I don't know. We hope to be back on schedule soon. --- Next Week's Topic: Agents of SHIELD --- You can catch us on Twitter (@GeekEachWeek), Facebook (@GeekEachWeek), or drop us a line at geekeachweekcast@gmail.com!

Saturday was a big day at San Diego Comic Con, and Den of Geek editor-in-chief Mike Cecchini joins us to talk about the huge news coming from Marvel in Hall H and from DC in Ballroom 20. The biggest surprises came from casting announcements, specifically the last minute lead role for Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the double whammy of Blade coming to the MCU and the casting of two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the title role, and of course the shocking appearance of Natalie Portman as the new Thor. Mike also talks about some exciting developments for DCTV as the Crisis on Infinite Earths has its own casting surprises in store with a series of cameos. Hosted on Acast. With the announcement that season seven will be the end of Agents of SHIELD, we reflect on the sad news, and recap the SDCC panel. We reference the wonderful Deadline interview, found here.MP3Apple Podcasts
Movies Editor David Crow joins us to talk about a couple of highlights from his first day at San Diego Comic Con this year including a couple of amazing panels. We start off discussing New Line's popular ScareDiego horror event, which this year was devoted entirely to IT: Chapter Two, directed by Andy Muschietti, who was in attendance. David breaks down some favorite anecdotal moments from the panel as well as what we learned from the trailer. We then move on to our magazine cover story, Terminator: Dark Fate, which David says earns its R-rating both with the highlights shared and the f-bombs dropped throughout the panel. A surprise guest made an appearance as well! Stay tuned from more from San Diego Comic Con 2019 in future episodes. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
