My friend Chris McLoone is an openly trans man here in the Florida panhandle, and has agreed to join us today to explain the contents of Senate Bill 254- and how they directly affect him as a trans adult. You see, I think it's very easy to hate someone you never interact with, and I think it's very easy to support legislation that limits a person's freedoms over their own body when you see them as less than human. So Chris is also here today to remind of us his humanity, and to elaborate on specific instances of this anti-trans legislation affecting his actual life. I think it's also very easy to take legislation at "face value", but the truth of the matter is that this bill is not written just for "protecting children", it is limiting the freedoms of adults to make decisions about their own bodies. We had a lot of fun in this episode, but also talked about some really real shit. So happy Pride, y'all, and don't ever forget that it is first and foremost a rebellion.show notes:www.ivebeenthinkingpod.com/blogThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5806483/advertisement

If you pay close attention to the evolution of our culture, you will see repeating patterns, how society at every moment believes itself to be at the pinnacle of advanced technology, and how past ideas hold less intelligence and insight than the current paradigm. Currently we're experiencing a time of questioning of many of society's choices and we would like to bring this podcast to you as an example of how we might better access wisdom and direction for future developments.   As Fiona McLoone walks us through her pHd that explored the documentation of Irish herbal medicine through surveying national school children in conversation with their grandparents, we realised how precious this type of endeavour is.  The archive which our nation holds of our historic folkloric herbal medicine traditions is a global one off.  As such we have a window here to retrieve our legacy as a nation of healers that is unique to Irish culture.  One which, as we discuss, can be a pathway to the future.  Listening to our ancestors, as always, provides sustainable templates for our culture as we move forward in an uncertain time for humankind.   If you want a piece of healing therapy in your own home you can use our discount code for Clearlight Saunas - the low EMF infrared option - WELLNESS75 will get you 5% off their NEW portable units at www.auroraredlight.eu or go get yourself a full size, immersive sauna from www.clearlightsaunas.eu and save yourself €100!!! Asbury Park is a legendary Jersey Shore destination, but the city has gone through extreme hardships throughout its life . Over the last several years though, Asbury Park has experienced a renaissance. Marrying its roots in music, artistry, and uniqueness with a new vision and life that creates an incredible experience every time you visit. Part of that renaissance is a restaurant nestled right on the boardwalk and owned by restaurant industry mogul Tim McLoone, Iron Whale.  Segment 1Tim McLoone owns 11 restaurants throughout the state, but his background prior to the restaurant industry was in music. We learned all about Tim's background getting involved in restaurants starting with purchasing the Rum Runner in Sea Bright in 1986. After that he started opening other restaurants in Long Branch and eventually saw an opportunity in Asbury Park. Even though it was not a success at the beginning, they stuck it out and Tim's love of Asbury Park shines through. Today in New Jersey History: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dedicated a statue of Althea Gibson at the Althea Gibson Tennis Court Complex in Newark, New Jersey on March 28, 2012. Althea Gibson was a professional tennis player and the first African-American to cross the color line in international tennis. She was the first African-American to win a Grand Slam title, as well at Wimbledon and the U.S. Nationals.Segment 2We discuss Iron Whale's menu and how it is such a unique experience from the other restaurants Tim owns. We learned about how they landed on the name and how they decided what the decor was going to look like. Tim and Mike also discuss some of their personal favorites on the menu and how Iron Whale has become one of the flagship restaurants of the McLoone restaurant group. New Jersey Fun Fact: New Jersey known as the "Garden State" is a leading grower of produce. In the United states, New Jersey ranks 5th in blueberry production, 3rd in cranberry production, 3rd in spinach, 3rd in bell peppers, and 4th in peach production.Segment 3McLoone's Restaurant Group is constantly trying to be a part of the community, hiring local students, and ingratiating themselves with the communities they find themselves in. We also learned about Tim's charity, Holiday Express, where he and other musicians travel to places that need some holiday cheer and play holiday songs at places that normally do not get any attention. Iron Whale: ironwhalenj.comAddress: 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJInstagram: @ironwhale_asburyparkHoliday Express: holidayexpress.orgThank you to our sponsors:Albert & Whitney CPAs:  awcpasllc.comContact the show: greetingsfromthegardenstate@gmail.comWebsite: greetingsfromthegardenstate.comFollow us on Instagram: @greetingsfromthegardenstateSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/GardenState)

This week Dean Zambra & Breifne Earley peel back the layers at Longford Town as goalkeeper Lee Steacy joins his captain on the show. Breifne also chats to Finn Harps director Paul McLoone who's been leading the push for the New Finn Harps Stadium project. Dean & Breifne chat through last weekend's action in both divisions of the SSE Airtricity League with the clash of Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk and Dean's own Longford Town side hosting Sligo Rovers in a tight encounter topping the bill. Lee Steacy (30:31) discusses his experience of the difference in levels between the First Division and the Premier Division and the miniscule amount of time even goalkeepers are given on the ball talking about the intensity of players like David Cawley of Sligo Rovers and Derry City's David Parkhouse. Steacy talks about the first three games and the experience of starting so well with the win and clean sheet against Derry, the comeback in Dalymount and the disappointment of defeat to Sligo. He gets quizzed about the motivation for going to attack a corner late in the league game against Sligo and his ambitions to grab a league goal as a goalkeeper at some point in his career. Dean also asks him to discuss the quality of the goalkeepers currently plying their trade in the league. Breifne has a chat with Finn Harps director Paul McLoone (45:20), a retired senior public servant in the north west, who has been heading up the New Finn Harps Stadium project for the last few years. The club received fantastic news last week with the announcement of a financial allocation of almost €4m from the Department of Sport through the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF). He outlines the history of the stadium project and how he personally got involved after attending a public meeting in Ballybofey three years ago and the work that has revived the stalled development since then. He explains the vital partnerships with Donegal County Council and the local partners in building a sporting hub in the twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar to retain Finn Park as a dedicated venue for the club's academy and women's football within the region alongside a new stadium and training facility at the new site beside the Finn Valley Sports Centre. Finally Dean and Breifne discuss the weekend's fixtures (63:13) in both divisions of the league ahead of another busy weekend.

"I need to walk with some cockiness in my step these next two tournaments," Spieth said.  Too much negative speak with himself during the week was not helpful for Jordan.  Holly asks Steve about Jason Day maybe not playing the way he wanted to play. Day was battling a head cold all week but still played pretty well and is in a good position in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.  With a week off the remaining FedEx Cup players get a week off before the final two week stretch. Holly asks Steve who he thinks has the best shot moving forward out of the Top 10. Steve really likes Day's chances with the way he has been playing but also said an angry Stenson is a dangerous one. Holly asks Steve about the upcoming Evian Championship, the LPGA's 5th Major and the Solheim Cup. Steve feels that It doesn't get any bigger than these two weeks in France and Germany. A lot of the Korean players should play well this week since they don't have a week after that in the Solheim Cup. Juli Inkster is trying to get the women ready and feel that they are the underdogs but Steve feels that on paper the USA should run away from the competition but the game is not played on paper.  Dr. Bob Winters, Mental Conditioning Coach, talks with Holly about many of the facets of winning and golf. One of Dr. Bob's students, Kris Tamulus, won her first LPGA tournament at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic recently after more than 175 starts. Holly and Bob discuss match play versus stroke play.  Holly asks Dr. Bob about the emotions, swings of momentum, the pressure on the players and teams and the fact that they are playing as a team. Dr. Bob feels that you need to give your partner confidence and give your opponents fits in match play. You start fresh on every hole and that is why it becomes so nerve racking for players. The little games within the game. Dr. Bob Winters' latest book, Mistake Free Golf, is now on sale at any major book store, as well as ad www.drbobwinters.com.  Winters addresses the 9 most common mental mistakes players make and how to correct them.  If you can eliminate some of these mistakes you will enjoy the game so much more. One of the courses featured on The Golf Insiders Golf Card, which was recently on sale, is the Zellwood Station Golf Club just north of Apopka. The Head Professional at Zellwood, Chuck McLoone, calls in to wrap up the show. Zellwood is about 6500 feet from the back tees but McLoone says don't let the length fool you as there are about 30-40 foot elevation changes throughout the course and a few holes are around crater junction, which used to be a sink hole and now is more of a natural area that is not typical for Florida. It's a good mix of golf holes and you'll need every club in your bag. Holly and Chuck talk about an upcoming tournament hosted by Zellwood Station Veterans Association for the Disabled Veterans. Oct 17 is the 6th annual tournament. You can call the pro shop at (407) 886-3303 Ext 2 to sign your team up.  The course is located at 2126 Spilman Drive, Zellwood, FL  32798.  Holly takes a minute to talk to Chuck about putting on the PGA Tour and the different techniques players use. She asks Chuck about some putting tips for amateurs. He said that the biggest problem for amateur golfers is that they don't get the putt to the hole. So pace is probably the most important part of the putt. Chuck said that when you go play a course, take about 15 minutes to familiarize yourself with the speed of the putting greens by spending those minutes gaining a feel for the speed. Putt completely across the green both ways if you can to gauge the speed.  He also said that players should be MORE aggressive from about 20 feet and in and not so tentative.
