*This episode includes conversations about sexual assault. Please see our ‘links' section in this episode description for sexual assault prevention and response references.*   Damon is back! The trio is finally back in full effect and this time two Third Class Petty Officers join them; MMN3 Zander Valterra and PS3 Monique Jones-Santana. They share their opinions on “E4 and Junior” vs “E4 and Below.” The guys take the time to acknowledge everyone who advanced this NWAE cycle. Have you taken the Health of the Force Survey yet? Check out our links below to take it. MMN3 and PS3 detail why they joined the Navy and share some experiences from Boot Camp. Why do they hear information on our podcast that they don't hear from their divisional leadership? This leads Damo to a confession of his own. How do they even want to receive this kind of information daily? The PO3s have two completely different motivations for what's keeping them in the Navy and they detail their reasons. What have they found so far to be the most beneficial program the Navy has offered them? They both detail their most memorable moments thus far. Petty Officer Jones-Santano details a particularly traumatic experience that has happened to her during her Naval career. What makes a junior Sailor decide not to open up to Senior leadership? MMN3 and PS3 discuss their opinions on good and bad leadership. Your brand new Chief walks into the office, on the first day; how do you grade them? Wait until you hear PS3 Jones-Santana's response. Do Chiefs go into the CPO Mess and talk trash about Sailors? Are young Sailors still looking at PODs and POWs? How do we motivate both seniors and superiors? What was our motivation to start the podcast? MMN3 and PS3 give some final thoughts. The Best of Season 2 InterviewsIn today's episode, we're taking a dive into the best of Season 2 episodes, "interview style." So what we're going to do is dive into specific episodes and pull out the nuggets and gems and put them altogether for this episode. We're going to start off with Episode Seven from season two chasing your dreams while in a relationship where I interview husband and wife Charles and Ashley Jenkins. And then we're going to Episode Eight where I interviewed Dr. Kia Monique Jones about Mentorship in the Black Community, and then we're going to rewind just a little bit when I interviewed Ashley Jenkins on episode three, where we discuss blended families. And last but not least, we're going to end today's episode with the interview that I started the year off with, with my husband Corey in episode one with relationship goals for the new year. I really hope you guys enjoy this compilation that I'm putting together from the best moments of season two, "interview style!"[02:51] Ep. 7: Chasing Your Dreams While in a Relationship: Interview with Ashley and Charles Jenkins[03:19]  I want to know tell us how you guys met. How did you guys become Charles and Ashley Jenkins?Well, a lot of people don't know, we actually met online dating app. Yes, we met on a dating app. For myself, I had got on the app because I was engaged before I met my husband. And I had gotten out of a really bad relationship. So I just was like, I'm just going to, you know, get on the dating app, meet friends type of thing. And so I met my husband .[04:30] Do you guys encourage it? (Online dating) You think that's a great place to start?I don't think there's anything wrong with the dating app, you know, as far as a good place to start. Ashley Jenkins[05:57] Do you guys think both parties can chase their dreams at the same time?I believe both, both people can chase their dreams, and entrepreneurship at the same time. Charles Jenkins[07:05] What did that look like? For you guys? Like, what if you had to give us summarization of who was chasing their dreams? And who kind of had to take the backseat while the other person chase their dreams? To go back to our situation, personally, like Charles actually had a business before I did. So he had his own auto glass business.  And so then it shifted to now I have the business and he's working.  And so I think it changed for us with seasons, like it was his season, at one time because of the finances, but we just expressed like, we just don't have it where we can both pursue it at the same time. So we've both had our opportunities to support each other. [09:48] How does that work when you're trying to raise young children and still chase your dream and your relationship?Giving each other that time to get away and then work on yourselves is important for you have to be able to get those things done. Charles Jenkins[11:51]  Is there anything else before I let you tell my audience how to find you guys?Just forgive. Remember why you said your I do. And I hope that y'all like each other on those days when that love tank is not as full as it was when you got married. - Ashley.Don't give up on what you want to do or doesn't think you can't do something just because you know you look a certain way or you don't have something. Charles [13:34] Ep. 8: Mentorship in a Black Community: Interview with Dr. Monique Jones[14:00]  If you wanted the audience to know anything about you, what would you want them to know about you, Dr. Jones?I am a product of my environment. Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, I went to Jackson public schools here. I went to high school at Jackson State University for an undergrad and for my doctoral degree as well. [14:56] What's your definition of a mentor?A mentor is someone that someone looks up to. It can be in a pr

Caitlyn O’Brock is interviewed this week, sharing her heartwarming story and journey from ICU nurse to Godmother. Following Caitlyn’s appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show, she sits down with the Scrub Caps and Sippy Cups Podcast ladies to tell all. Caitlyn cared for a patient in the ICU named Monique Jones, who was 26 weeks pregnant and struggling with COVID. Monique delivered baby Zamyrah via emergency c-section when the decision was made that both mom and babies’ lives were at risk. Caitlyn knew that if the pair survived, she would throw Monique the biggest baby shower ever! Caitlyn raised the baby shower money, taking donations from friends, family, and coworkers. Caitlyn talks about life after this story going viral. She admits, “it's been a lot.” She has had several media outlets reaching out to her for an interview, Anderson Cooper, CBS News, and the Kelly Clarkson Show, to name a few. The one thing Caitlyn struggles with the most is understanding why she should have the spotlight when there are so many amazing nurses out there that do what she does. Caitlyn discusses the attention she has received and how she is processing this. Also, don’t miss her telling us what Kelly Clarkson gifted her! We want to take a moment and recognize all of the amazing nurses out there! As Laci mentions in this episode, 2020 showed us what nurses are all about. "Remember when everyone thought that nurses were timid and submissive doctor's helpers and then a pandemic came and the world finally realized a nurse is like the Swiss army knife of healthcare providers and will find ten million ways to save your life. May we never underestimate the value of a damn good nurse." Click the links below to read the stories featured on the show:The Kelly Clarkson Showhttps://www.kellyclarksonshow.com/video/woman-with-covid19-gave-birth-while-in-a-coma/4303380CBS Newshttps://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-icu-nurse-patient-message-hope/Anderson Cooperhttps://www.facebook.com/AndersonCooperFullCircle/posts/anderson-talks-to-monique-jones-who-gave-birth-while-intubated-due-to-covid-19-a/1626992877488397/ You can find Caitlyn Obrock @caitlynobrock on FB and IG.Let's connect!Follow the girls on Instagram -@mslacilynch @ellenlauletta @stl_injectorEmail: scrubcapsandsippycups@gmail.comOr you can leave us an audio message that could air on a future podcast episode!https://www.speakpipe.com/ScrubcapsandsippycupsFacebook: Scrub Caps and Sippy CupsInstagram: @heysmartmommasTwitter: @heysmartmommas
