This week we welcome Route 3 and Brady Seals! From Southern Missouri, award winning Bluegrass Band ROUTE 3 is comprised of veteran musicians that have performed at venues all over the mid-west as well as nation wide. With a traditional sound, many originals, and great instrumentation, they bring a hard driving bluegrass sound. Route 3 are recipients of the 2020 Arkansas Country Music Awards, Bluegrass Artist of the Year Award. Members of the group include: Jason Jordan: When nine-year-old Jason Jordan met Bill Monroe, he got to play his mandolin, and his love for bluegrass music began. Shortly after that, Jason began playing mandolin in his first band, an all-youth band called The Parking Lot Pickers. Jason subsequently was a founding member of Just In Tyme. He started writing and arranging his own songs. Shortly after he received an invitation to join Brightwater Junction as their guitar player. Jason co-wrote the song Captain that was recorded and made popular by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, and also wrote seven of the songs on the Route 3 debut album. Doug Clifton: At the age of 12, Doug Clifton began playing bass at his home Church, Macedonia Freewill Baptist in the Southwest Missouri town of Purdy. Soon after, he and best friend Brandon Rickman, along with Brandon's brother Heath and dad, Gary, formed The Rickmans. In 2000, Doug was a part of New Reflections, winners of the S.P.B.G.M.A International Band contest in Nashville, Tennessee that year. Doug has played with multiple bands over the years including The Messengers, Breakaway, The Signature Quartet, The Kellys, The Drifters, Roaring River Sound and New Road. Gaylon Harper: In 1986, Gaylon started learning banjo at home and attending weekend festivals with friends. It wasn't long before he was playing with a local traditional bluegrass band, Jim Orchard and The Bressler Brothers. While traveling the bluegrass circuit with them, Gaylon met the Bob Lewis Family. Shortly after, he was given the opportunity to join their band. In 1994, Gaylon and wife, Katrina, started a group with his two brothers to form The Harpers. 2009 begin the biggest adventure with the Lord so far, when Gaylon and his family begin a full-time music ministry as The Harper Family. In 2010, The Harper Family won the S.P.B.G.M.A International Band competition. A highlight is when Crossroads Recording signed them to their Pisgah Ridge label in 2013. Gaylon came off the road and became music minister at First Baptist of Birch Tree, MO. Roy Bond: Roy attended his first bluegrass show at the age of 12 and was instantly hooked. He soon began learning to play guitar and study music. Roy has been performing on stage since he was 13. He became a member of the Current River Opry show for the last two years of its 45 year run at the age of 14. After that, Roy became a member of Jim Orchard & The Ozark Bluegrass Boys where he stayed for 13 years. He has also done a considerable amount of fill in and part time work with many Ozark based bands including The Bressler Brothers, The Baker Family, Kirby Clark, and many more. Route 3 just got signed to Pine Castle Records. You can see them perform at the upcoming Treasure Lake Bluegrass Festival. For more information visit their website: Route3Bluegrass.com . Singer-songwriter and artist Brady Seals has a pedigree for success. He is related to numerous music industry heavyweights including, Jimmy Seals (Seals & Crofts), Dan Seals (England Dan & John Ford Coley), and country songwriters Troy Seals (Songwriting Hall of Fame Member) and Chuck Seals. Throughout his career, Brady Seals has sold over 11 million albums, topped three genres simultaneously, and his songs continue to captivate audiences and attract licenses for TV, radio, and film. A touring musician since the age of 16, Brady Seals is probably best known for his tenure in Little Texas. During his six years as keyboardist and co-lead singer for the multi- platinum group, they were voted ACM's Vocal Group of the Year Award and received two Grammy nominations. Little Texas celebrated three consecutive number one hits with What Might Have Been, God Blessed Texas, and My Love, all of which Seals co-wrote, granting him the ASCAP Triple Play Award. In 1996 Seals pursued a solo career, collaborating with the legendary Rodney Crowell to co-produce his Warner Brothers album, The Truth. It features a duet with Wynonna Judd, Another You, Another Me that sold over 100,000 singles. In 2002 Seals formed Hot Apple Pie (DreamWorks). Comprised of extraordinary musicians, the music industry dubbed the band “Music City's Super Group." Seals spent the next two years with Hot Apple Pie playing large venues in North America and Canada. Fans clamored for tickets to see and hear their live show as word spread about the amazing musicianship and Seals' “Jagger-esque” stage appeal gaineing the respect of music industry insiders and established acts due to their tight harmonies, agile playing skills, and charismatic stage antics. In 2008 Seals released an independent solo CD called “Play Time” featuring friends, Richard Marx and Stan Lynch (Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers) and hit the road again. He spent two years performing in clubs, theaters, and other venues across the country. When 2015 rolled around Seals along with his friend and co-writer, Gordon Kennedy founded the songwriter show called Music City Pickers LIVE! featuring artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Larry Stewart (Restless Heart), Richie McDonald (Lonestar), Peter Frampton, and many other hit-makers. In 2016 Brady paired up with Lua Crofts to form Seals & Crofts 2. 2016 also brought on another musical project for Seals. He was also asked to front a Tom Petty tribute band called The Petty Junkies. The group is comprised of the who's who of Nashville professional studio musicians and artists who have been very successful in their own right. In 2022 Seals signed with SM1 Music Group/Universal Music to release a brand-new musical project that he's been working on for years. Brady's first single from the project, "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight", has streamed over 1.5 million times on Spotify. His latest single "Farm Boy" is available now on all major streaming platforms. You can check out Brady's website at: www.BradySeals.com.

In 1951, 15-year-old Bruce Belland sneaked into a backstage door at Ciro's Nightclub to get a glimpse of his idols, The Mills Brothers. That fateful night inspired Bruce to form The Four Preps and forge a vocal harmony career that brought us the hits, “26 Miles” and “Big Man.” Bruce has spent 70 years loaded with questions for his musical heroes and, at long last, he gets to pose them to John H. Mills II, the son of original Mills Brother Donald Mills. John toured with his father for 17 years and he's got answers! We hand our fanboy the reins and these two harmony kings go deep into shop talk, discussing style, phrasing, timing, technique and arrangements. They share road stories, talk about John's childhood with his trailblazing father and uncles and explore how each of them related to their larger-than-life fathers.Plus, Fritz and Weezy are recommending My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman and Avatar: The Way of Water.Path Points of Interest:The Mills BrothersThe Mills Brothers on WikipediaMills Brothers Documentary Part 1Part 2Part 3John Mills in a Tribute to Glenn Miller and the Vocal Groups - Feb. 19thBruce BellandThe Four PrepsAvatar: The Way of the Water - In TheatersMy Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman
As told by the late great lead tenor Gordon Stoker, this is the story of the greatest backup group in the history of recorded music and that is undoubtedly the Jordanaires, a gospel group of mostly Tennessee boys, formed in the 1940s, that set the standard for studio vocal groups in the '50s, '60s, '70s, and beyond. In their sixty-five-year career, from 1948 through 2013, the recordings they sang on have sold an estimated eight billion copies. They sang on more than 200 of Elvis's recordings, including most of his biggest hits. They were in three of his best-known movies, appeared with him on most of his early nation-wide TV shows, and toured with him for many years. Throughout Elvis's early career, the Jordanaires were his most trusted friends and probably his most positive influence. While the Jordanaires' bread and butter may have been Nashville's burgeoning recording industry, it seemed that there was always a plane waiting to take them cross country to the pop sessions in L.A. They sang on most of Ricky Nelson's biggest hits and over the years backed up Andy Williams, Fats Domino, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Dinah Shore, The Everly Brothers, Glen Campbell, Patti Page, Neil Young, Perry Como, Loretta Lynn, Ringo Starr, Tom Jones, Andy Griffith, Bobby Vinton, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Billy Ray Cyrus, Clyde McPhatter, and about 2,100 other recording acts.Michael Kosser is a senior editor at American Songwriter magazine, where he has written a column on songwriting called "Street Smarts" for the past twenty years. Since 1979, Kosser's songs have been recorded by George Jones, Barbara Mandrell, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Rich, and others. Many of his songs have appeared on the national country music charts. Kosser offers an in-depth, insider's view of Nashville during its ascendancy in his book “How Nashville Became Music City, U.S.A.: Fifty Years of Music Row”.Alan Stoker is the son of Gordon Stoker, of the Jordanaires quartet. He's a Grammy-winning audio engineer, a musician, vocalist, and a music historian. As a musician/vocalist, he's backed up beach music legend Clifford Curry and Sam Moore of the Stax Records duo Sam and Dave. He's also recorded with prog-rock group McKendree Spring and E Street Band bassist Gary Tallent. He's opened shows for Ray Charles and his orchestra, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon band, the Tams, Crystal Gayle, and others. He's the long-time legendary archivist for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN. He's preserved some of the earliest recordings of the biggest names in music. Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash are just a few of the artists whose recordings Stoker has been involved with. His work is credited on close to one hundred commercially released products, including “Hank Williams Mother's Best Flour Show”, “The Patsy Cline Collection”, “The Bristol Sessions: Historic Recordings from Bristol, Tennessee”, and the Grammy award–winning “Night Train to Nashville: Music City Rhythm & Blues 1945–1970”.Stoker has appeared in numerous documentaries as a music historian. He's a twenty-year member of the National Recording Preservation Board at the Library of Congress.Purchase a copy of “The Jordanaires: The Story of the World's Greatest Backup Vocal Group” through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Jordanaires-Story-Worlds-Greatest-Backup/dp/1493064576/Listen to a playlist of the music discussed in this episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5tOPsjatmHAt8bvMz5wjwh?si=061deba8ef9848a9Visit the Gordon Stoker Memorial Page: https://www.facebook.com/GordonStokerMemorialPageVisit the Jordanaires website: https://www.jordanaires.netThe Booked On Rock Website: https://www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockINSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/bookedonrockpodcastSupport Your Local Bookstore! Little Big Town is celebrating more than 20 years as a band with the release their 10th studio album, Mr. Sun, available September 16. Ahead of the album's release, the band's Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Philip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook joined Audacy's Rob + Holly to chat new music and how the four have managed to stick together for over two decades. “It feels like just yesterday we were driving ourselves around in our own van and loading up our own merch,” Schlapman said, reflecting on the early days of their career. “And then it does feel like forever,” she laughed. “We have a forever story and it's been twenty-something years long.” The band has celebrated the release of 27 singles together and they credit “patience, understanding, grace and respect,” for getting them through all the ups and downs. “We built this whole thing, from the foundation up, with it being about the band,” said Westbrook. “A lot of times… it can be easy for your egos to get in the way.” Their approach to focus on the quartet as a whole has also proven successful as the group's earned numerous award nominations including their most recent in the Vocal Group of the Year category for the 2022 CMA Awards. The always-positive clan is readying to release their 10th studio album, Mr.Sun on September 16 and according to them — it'll give you all the positive vibes, just as the title suggests. “[Positivity] was definitely the intention,” said Fairchild. “Especially coming out of Nightfall, the last record, were were holding on to a few songs that didn't seem to fit that body of work.” She continued “I think during the pandemic we all needed something to look forward to, you know? So this is the sunnier side of the street!” Grab your sunglasses! The LBT talent is sure to shine bright on this project! Check it out September 16.

GRAMMY-nominated Nashville band Old Dominion has announced their anxiously awaited fourth full-length album, Time, Tequila & Therapy, will be released on October 8, 2021. To herald the record's arrival, the group shared a brand new song entitled “All I Know About Girls.”Backed by a bright acoustic guitar melody, this sweet and slick country bop builds towards a clever and catchy hook, “All I know about girls is the wide world ain't gonna spin without ‘em, but it'll spin around ‘em,”before an admission of sobering stone-cold truth, “All I know about girls is...I don't know nothing at all.”The band initially teased this chapter with their new hit single “I Was On A Boat That Day.”Eclipsing yet another benchmark, the song recently achieved the band's biggest radio impact date of their career. Right out of the gate, 132 stations added the song to rotation. As such, “I Was On A Boat That Day”was the second most added song of 2021. It has already gathered 20 million-plus streams and counting in addition to 2.2 million YouTube views on the music video. Sounds Like Nashville hailed it as “the up-tempo sand-bar anthem of the summer,”and Country Now promised the song “will quickly become the soundtrack to your summer.” Meanwhile, Rolling Stone applauded the tune's“appropriately buoyant rhythm and hum-along melodies.”Additionally, the guys took the stage at Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series to give the single its television debut(watch it HERE). “I Was On A Boat That Day”is available HERE. Watch the music video HERE.Time, Tequila & Therapy sees Old Dominion presenting13 tracks, where the boys survey the ups, downs, trials, and tribulations of life, love, and friendships while infusing their signature country sound with songwriting eloquence and arena rock ambition. The opener “Why Are You Still Here” glides along on organic percussion and piano as the song ponders what an ex is up to, “I don't want to know, but damn I want to know.”The upbeat “Hawaii”whisks Jimmy Buffet-style island bliss down south. Then, there's “No Hard Feelings” where the guys “took a little Time, Tequila & Therapy and threw it in a blender with ice”before intoxicating with another hummable hook. The “Empress of Soul” herself, Miss Gladys Knight, duets with Old Dominion on the Motown-by-way-of-Music-Row soul stunner “Lonely Side of Town.” The action all culminates with the bluesy guitar twang of the finale“Ain't Nothing Wrong With Love” as one final chant soars off to the heavens. Each band member—Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Brad Tursi, Whit Sellers, and Geoff Sprung—notably participated in the songwriting alongside Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. Tickets for the band's highly anticipated return to touring, “We Are Old Dominion” tour are on sale now and available. Teaming up with Indigo Road Entertainment, the group's first full-scale headline run since 2019 visits major markets and historic venues coast-to-coast 2021 is shaping up to be another milestone year for the guys. Recently, they took home the “Vocal Group of the Year”award at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards for the fourth consecutive time since 2018. Not to mention, they garnered their first career GRAMMY Award nominations. A standout from their chart-topping self-titled third studio album, “Some People Do” picked up nods in the categories of “Best Country Song” and “Best Country Duo/Group Performance.”

Arkansas singer/songwriters Justin Patterson and Laura Lynn Danley had been writing and performing separately as solo artists for years when they decided to form the Folk/Americana duo Ten Penny Gypsy in 2017. That decision changed their fortunes immediately, and put their musical careers onto a new and exciting trajectory. In 2018, "Ten Penny Gypsy," their self-titled debut album, was nominated for "Album of the Year" at the Arkansas Country Music Awards. The group garnered additional Arkansas CMA nominations for "Americana Artist of the Year" and "Vocal Group of the Year" in both 2018 and 2019. Ten Penny Gypsy is looking to build on that success in 2020 with the release of their second full-length album, "Fugitive Heart," a collection of original songs once again produced by renowned multi-instrumentalist Anthony Crawford. In addition, the album prominently features the talents of 2020 Arkansas CMA nominee Buddy Case (Guitarist of the Year). Recorded over several sessions in 2019 at Crawford's studio in Loxley, AL, "Fugitive Heart" is an eclectic, upbeat album combining Americana and Country/Blues sounds, that thematically explores the uncertainties of separation Listeners will find the songs immediately relatable, considering the isolation created by the current global health crisis and national political climate. It is a privilege to welcome vocal group Resound to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Resound is a vocal trio made up of Jessica Fox, Joseph Clarke, and Mariah Hargrove. The trio knew each other for years before having an informal rehearsal and creating their first “arrangement.” Little did they know that this would lead Joseph, Jessica, and Mariah to a career of creating and arranging music together.Their music journey led to them singing on national television shows such as Good Morning America and more opportunities to sing with their favorite artists. Their debut album, First Christmas, peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Gospel Music charts. Earlier this summer, the trio auditioned for America’s Got Talent: Season 15. Their great cover of “What the World Needs Now” received high praise from Simon Cowell, and the trio received “four Yeses” from the Got Talent creator and his fellow judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara.Eventually, Resound advanced pass the Judges’ Cuts and to the Universal Studio Hollywood live shows. Joseph, Jessica, and Mariah delivered a powerful take on A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera’s “Fall on Me.” Sadly, the trio was eliminated at the end of the fourth round of Season 15 quarterfinals. In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Resound shared their origin story, talked about their America’s Got Talent (AGT) experience, and revealed their dream collaborators.

Why do old songs pop into our heads? Unheard for decades – and often a song we never even liked – there it is, filling the echo chamber of the articulatory loop of working memory in the dorsolateral prefrontal association areas of our brains. “…smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kannnng-aroo,now don't tell meeeeeeee I've nothin' to dooooo….”I whispered everything I could remember to Google. Google whispered back, http://mondaymemo.wpengine.com/flowersonthewall/ (“The Statler Brothers, Flowers on the Wall, 1966.) It won the Grammy for ‘Best Performance by a Vocal Group.'” To get the most out of your ad writer, send them your irrelevant and ridiculous passing thoughts.Don't overthink it, and don't be annoyed when most of your passing thoughts are ignored. Because occasionally, now and then, one of those passing thoughts will morph into a fabulous ad for your business. I was trying to drive “Captain Kannnng-aroo” from my mind when I heard a little email *ding* from my computer. It was Ken Goodrich, the owner of Goettl (rhymes with kettle). Crap. Ken was thinking about Captain Kangaroo, too.I turned Ken's email into a 60-second radio ad. Captain Kangaroo is the reason I own Goettl Air Conditioning. I know that sounds weird, but it's true. I'm Ken Goodrich. Here's how it happened. When I was a kid, our family had a big Zenith console television that was about the size of a small hippopotamus or a pony with very short legs. Your family probably had one, too. Anyway, the Captain was always talking about Schwinn bicycles and what made them BETTER than other bicycles. Sitting there cross-legged on the floor, the Captain convinced me to always buy GOOD quality made with REAL craftsmanship because it works better, lasts longer, and saves you money. When it comes to air conditioners, that's Goettl. But wait, it gets even weirder. I only hire technicians and installers that remind me of Mr. Green Jeans. Happy. Hard working. He just wants you to be happy. Call Goettl. Gee Oh Ee, T-T-L. It'll keep you cool, but it's hard to spell. And if you see one of my technicians, ask them for a Goettl flashlight.
