Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram fills in for Jim on 3 Martini Lunch. Join Scot and Greg as they dig into the IRS possibly revoking Harvard's tax-exempt status, Bernie Sanders backing a truly radical Senate candidate in Michigan, and CNN's over-the-top praise for George Clooney's 2024 call to replace Joe Biden.First, they analyze reports that the IRS may strip Harvard of its tax-exempt status. Scot emphasizes that this issue should be treated separately from the Biden administration's efforts to withhold federal funds over the school's failure to meet anti-Semitism standards. The guys also mull over whether such an action by the IRS would make it easier for a future Democrat administration to take aim at conservative institutions, or whether the left will do that regardless of what the right does now.Next, they spotlight Bernie Sanders endorsing far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan. El-Sayed is known for supporting government-controlled health care, taxpayer-funded college (dubbed "free" college by the left), and for his hostility toward Israel. But Scot cautions that El-Sayed is an articulate speaker, boasts a successful medical background, and could receive glowing media coverage similar to Barack Obama back in 2004.Finally, they call out CNN's Jake Tapper for heaping excessive praise on George Clooney's “brave” letter to the New York Times editor urging Democrats to replace Joe Biden after last year's debate. Scot and Greg see it as a transparent effort by the media and left-wing elites to rewrite history and pretend it was impossible to know about Biden's cognitive decline before the debate. Please visit our great sponsors:Oracle will cut your cloud bill in HALF —new US customers only, offer ends May 31st! Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie directors! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today we talk about two American icons: Joel and Ethan Coen. Our guest is an icon all his own: Stephen Sajdak from the We Hate Movies podcast! We discuss the B-Sides The Hudsucker Proxy, The Man Who Wasn't There, Intolerable Cruelty, and Burn After Reading. There's also time given to their remake The Ladykillers. We make many references to Adam Nayman's well-researched and well-considered book The Coen Brothers This Book Really Ties the Films Together, explore the critical success the filmmakers had with Fargo, and how they filmed The Man Who Wasn't There in color and then printed it to black-and-white film. Other topics include the Coen Brothers' film Hail Caesar! and their childhood fascination with biblical epics like Quo Vadis, their amazing commentary on The Man Who Wasn't There disc, Spielberg's advice to George Clooney on how to become a movie star, or that time Clooney recalled being bewildered that Quentin Tarantino thought the two of them looked alike while they were promoting From Dusk Till Dawn. Finally, Tracy Zooms In comes up (obviously), the new Barry Levinson gangster picture The Alto Knights, and the James Gandolfini holiday picture Surviving Christmas.

TALK TO ME, TEXT ITThe alarming rise of politically charged rhetoric and its real-world consequences takes center stage in this candid morning reflection. When Representative Jasmine Crockett suggests Democrats need to "punch" in races against Senator Ted Cruz, we must ask: how do such statements impact our already volatile political landscape? With Tesla dealerships becoming targets of what can only be described as domestic terrorism—complete with incendiary devices and armed suspects—the connection between inflammatory speech and dangerous action becomes impossible to ignore.Meanwhile, Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson's declaration that "it's more embarrassing than ever to be an American" sparks a fascinating exploration of celebrity influence and fan reactions. As social media critics suggest she leave the country while longtime fans wrestle with disappointment, we're confronted with a deeply personal question: where do we draw our own boundaries when it comes to separating art from political views? The conversation evolves into a thoughtful examination of consumer choices and personal values. Can we still enjoy Streisand's voice while disagreeing with her politics? Should we continue watching Clooney's films despite opposing viewpoints? These aren't simple questions with universal answers—they're individual judgments that reveal much about how we navigate our increasingly divided culture. What's your threshold for boycotting? Have you ever stopped supporting an artist, product, or company based solely on political statements? Join the conversation and share where you draw your own lines between appreciation and principle in today's complex political landscape. Megyn Kelly is joined by Ben Shapiro, host of The Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro Show, to discuss George Clooney trying to lecture the American people and the media about how bad President Trump is, a glowing profile of Clooney on 60 Minutes, trying to take credit for telling the truth about Biden's cognitive decline when he actually stayed silent for weeks, the Democratic party imploding, Bernie Sanders and AOC hitting the road with their their ridiculous “Fight Oligarchy” tour, Bernie suddenly sounding supportive of Trump on the border and AOC downplaying the trans issue, Trump winning in his fight against judges and leftist lawyers, woke universities bending the knee to Trump to keep their funding, Jeremy Boreing stepping down as co-CEO of The Daily Wire, Ben's push for a Derek Chauvin pardon, and more. Then Stephen A. Smith, host of The Stephen A. Smith Show and First Take, joins to discuss why he thinks he could easily win the 2028 Democratic primary but doesn't plan on running, what he believes is going wrong within the Democratic party, how Ezra Klein and the Democratic elite are still unable to make sense of Trump's win, their delusions about why Americans supported for Trump, Trump's dominance in sports and culture, why there weren't any upsets in the NCAA tournament, and more.Shapiro- https://www.dailywire.com/show/the-ben-shapiro-showSmith- https://www.youtube.com/@stephenasmithJust Thrive: Visit https://justthrivehealth.com/discount/Megyn and use code MEGYN to save 20% sitewideAngel Studios: Become an Angel Guild member today and get 2 free tickets to The King of Kings movie when you become a premium member. Correspondent Cecilia Vega reports from the U.S.-Canadian border – the longest international land border in the world – near the Chazy River, where migrants are crossing with the help of human smugglers who openly promote their services on popular social media platforms. Vega speaks with one of those smugglers, a Sinaloa cartel member who claims that there will always be ways to bypass barriers, no matter what steps the two countries take – and with an American sheriff who has seen the impact of President Trump's policies to reduce illegal immigration from the north. Frank Larkin's commitment to America is remarkable. A former Navy SEAL, he served in the Secret Service, at the Pentagon and as sergeant-at-arms of the U.S. Senate. However, as correspondent Scott Pelley reports, Larkin's most significant contribution may be what he's done since his son, Ryan, took his own life. Ryan was, like his father, a decorated Navy SEAL, and his death by suicide was attributed to depression. But Frank Larkin did not accept this explanation, and when pathologists discovered Ryan suffered from scarring in his brain, likely due to repeated low-level blast exposure, this father campaigned for a change in how Special Operations and the rest of the military train and protect their service members. Correspondent Jon Wertheim goes behind the scenes as George Clooney makes his Broadway debut, starring in an adaptation of the 2005 Oscar-nominated movie “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Clooney co-wrote both the original screenplay and this play, which tell the story of pioneering journalist Edward R. Murrow, who took on Senator Joseph McCarthy. Clooney calls it a fight for the ages and says the plot, which revolves around themes of truth, intimidation and courage in corporate media, resonates today. At 63, the actor tells Wertheim why he finally feels ready to take on the role of Murrow himself. This week, we continue to collect members of the Ocean's gang like Infinity Stones, as we find Danny playing a convincing soldier and compelling leading man in a 90s geo-political thriller that feels like a total forgotbuster, despite starring two massive movie stars and launching DreamWorks as a studio. It's 1997's The Peacemaker, directed by Mimi Leder, and starring George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Marcel Iureș, Aleksandr Baluev, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Holt McCallany, Goran Višnjić, and Michael Boatman. One of the Cloondog's early jumps from ER star to silverscreen leading man, this movie is also deeply tied to ER as a production. Clooney unquestionably has the juice however, and the movie's 90s thriller sensibilities -- while not as refined as some of its contemporaries -- still feels like something of a lost art, a type of movie we just don't get enough of these days. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our discussion, it is not available to stream in Canada but can be rented on YouTube and Cineplex. Other works discussed on this episode include The X-Files, Groundhog Day, Source Code, The X-Files: Fight The Future, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, You've Got Mail, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thelma, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, The Beekeeper, The Art of War, The Foreigner, Superman Returns, Strangers on a Train, Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action, The House, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, The Bourne Identity, Clear and Present Danger, Mission: Impossible, Batman & Robin, The Green Hornet, Deep Impact, Armageddon, Pay It Forward, On The Basis Of Sex, The Leftovers, The Morning Show, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Three Kings, The Men Who Stare At Goats, 24, Burn After Reading, Michael Clayton, Out of Sight, Twisters and Legally Blonde. Next week, we're switching things up and going back to Hayley's new VHS stack to talk one of the all-time great westerns: 1992's Unforgiven, Clint Eastwood's deconstruction of the genre that made him famous and a worthy winner of Best Picture Oscar gold. Unforgiven is streaming on Crave in Canada and Max in the US. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Today we discuss the autobiography that traces Francis X. Clooney's intellectual and spiritual journey from middle-class American Catholicism to a lifelong study of Hinduism. It explains how he came to fashion comparative theology as a way of learning interreligiously that is boldly intellectual and deeply personal and practical, lived out in intersections of his roles as theologian and scholar of Hinduism, as professor and Catholic priest, and over the tumultuous decades from the 1960s until now, in his role as a Professor of Divinity, Harvard University. Clooney sheds fresh and realistic light on the idea and ideal of scholar-practitioner, since his wide learning, Christian and Hindu, is grounded in his Catholic and Jesuit commitments, as well as in a commensurate learning with respect to several Hindu traditions that are most accessible to scholars willing to learn empathetically and in a participatory manner. What Clooney has learned and written must be understood in terms of a love of Christ deeply informed by a Hindu instinct for loving God without reserve. A fundamental spiritual disposition - intuitions of God present everywhere - has energized his work over his long career, love giving direction and body to his professional academic work.

Plus, George Clooney's beef with Quentin Tarantino, Buzzfeed is in the AI business, their hot takes on Minions, Disney live action remakes, THE JOKER, LA LA LAND, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, HAMILTON and to binge or not to binge TV shows.
