A couple of years ago I hosted a morning coffee chat for Christian writers in my area. Later that day, I received a message from someone I had invited who asked, “How do you know if you're a Christian writer?”She had been interested in attending, but didn't go because she didn't feel qualified.Remembering this led me to create today's. Listen in to discover 3 tips for beginning authors who are writing their first Christian book. Schedule a 1:1 Coaching Call  New and refreshed! The Ink & Impact podcast now has a tighter focus and clearer mission. Beginning today, each episode will speak to Christian writers who want to write and self-publish their first nonfiction book. Ink & Impact will continue to focus on the three pillar areas of becoming an independent or "indie" author -- writing, self-publishing, and marketing -- all from a Biblical perspective. If you happen to be an established writer, know that you're welcome, too! It's always good to be reminded of the basics and shore up our foundations, particularly in our faith.I'm so excited you're here and I can't wait to help you write your nonfiction book! What additional topics would you like to learn about?Ready to become a better, more confident writer and make a kingdom impact? Shoowee! Friends! This is not an episode I ever expected to record. In this show, I tell the story of a health scare I experienced the week before You Bet Your Stretch Marks came out—during our first week back to homeschooling and while my husband was out of town.Throughout the ordeal as it developed, it was so evident the Lord's care and provision was going before me every step of the way. I hope you'll be encouraged that the Lord cares about the details of your life and truly does work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. It's a stunning story about German POWs in the US during WWI and a young woman's search for her missing fiancé in the time between the two wars. We talk about what the times were like, what Sarah would have done if she found herself in the heroine's position, and allow her to brag about her sweet dog. Patrons will hear her opinions on the Rocky Mountains vs. the Appalachians. These Blue Mountains by Sarah Loudin ThomasA moving story of love, betrayal, and the enduring power of hope in the face of darkness.German pianist Hedda Schlagel's world collapsed when her fiancé, Fritz, vanished after being sent to an enemy alien camp in the United States during the Great War. Fifteen years later, in 1932, Hedda is stunned to see Fritz's name in a photograph of an American memorial for German seamen who died near Asheville, North Carolina. Determined to reclaim his body and bring closure to his ailing mother, Hedda travels to the US. Her quest takes a shocking turn when, rather than Fritz's body, his casket contains the remains of a woman who died under mysterious circumstances.Local deputy Garland Jones thought he'd left that dark chapter behind when he helped bury Fritz Meyer's coffin. The unexpected arrival of Hedda, a long-suffering yet captivating woman, forces him to confront how much of the truth he really knows. As they work together to uncover the identity of the woman in the casket and to unravel Fritz's fate, Hedda and Garland grow closer. But with Hedda in the US on borrowed time while Hitler rises to power in Germany, she fears she'll be forced to return home before she can put the ghosts of her past to rest."These Blue Mountains is a masterful tale that weaves together two continents, two wars, and two lives defined by longing and resilience."--PATTI CALLAHAN HENRY, New York Timesbestselling author"North Carolina's mountains hide the secrets of a war long past and a young love cut short in this atmospheric tale of unexpected hope."--LISA WINGATE, New York Times bestselling authorThis inspirational historical fiction is set in the mountains of North Carolina in the tumultuous years before World War II. In this video, I'm taking a deep dive into the episode behind a well-known clip of Oprah that's been widely shared in Christian circles. It's sparked a lot of discussion about her beliefs and where they stand in relation to Christianity. But I believe there's more to this clip than what's on the surface.I go over the majority of the episode, show what you didn't see, analyze Oprah and the panel's beliefs, and explore the spiritual questions raised, giving a lot of commentary on what I would consider to be unrecognized New Thought beliefs. This is not just about Oprah or another "Oprah EXPOSED" video. This is about something bigger—a set of beliefs that isn't going anywhere and I promise you at some point in your Christian walk, you'll be confronted with these arguments and beliefs this panel puts forth. I want you to be equipped. On top of this, I also give some (maybe) unpopular opinions about the interaction between Oprah and an outspoken audience member. I thought this would be a shorter video, but… that just didn't happen. Even for how long this turned out, I still could have spent another hour (or more) analyzing this episode and the clip in question.

Send us a textThroughout their multi-decade tenure in vocational ministry, predominantly as lead pastors, Bryan and Haley Jarrett have come to the conclusion: Haley prefers the shadows to the spotlight. She's uncomfortable with platform ministry and, despite her many efforts to "grow into the part", has come to recognize that she is called to her husband, and not quite as much to the traditional roles with which the title of "pastor's wife" has often been culturally linked. Cultural expectations, Bryan reminds us, are not Scriptural expectations. In this episode both Bryan and Haley join host Bridgette Tomlin to discuss unhealthy demands, the conversations ministry couples should be having privately, and how to promote women in leadership roles without demeaning those who thrive behind-the-scenes.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Abuse, abandonment, and addiction defined Bryan's early life. After meeting Jesus, God's grace not only dealt with his sin, but also began to heal the hurts of his past. This experience with grace forged in him a passion for broken people. Pastor Bryan serves in leadership roles in multiple universities, missions agencies, church planting networks, and global financial institutions. He has a B.A., an M.A., and an earned Doctorate. He is an author and sought-after speaker, both in the U.S. and internationally. In 2015, he and Haley founded Lonesome Dove Ranch, a place of healing for abused children and a place of rest and resourcing for America's small-town pastors.According to Bryan, his most honorable professional title is being called “Pastor” by the great people of Northplace Church. Pastor Bryan is married to his high school sweetheart, Haley. They have three young adult children. In August, Bryan and Haley became grandparents for the first time to grandson, Lincoln James Jarrett.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Connect with today's guests, Bryan and Haley:Haley IG: @hjarrettBryan: @drbryanjarrettFeatured: Learn about Let's RetreatListen to Pastor Bryan's message at the CMN Conference.Learn about Lonesome Dove RanchMany thanks to our host, Bridgette Tomlin, and engineer Justin Lynn of Justin Lynn Music. In a world which trumpets the anti-biblical message of “you do you” and walking in “your truth,” it can be easy for Bible-believing Christians to swing to the opposite extreme of assuming anything we're passionate about comes from love of self or can't be trusted.  But the Bible makes it very clear that God directs our paths and has very specific purposes for our lives.  And when we walk in them confidently, we honor Him.  Even so, it can be easy to question the path He has for us when we encounter naysayers and critics who are quick to point out our faults. Does this mean we simply ignore them or capitulate to their demands?  I believe the answer is more nuanced. In this episode, we talk about setting our faces like flint toward the will of our Father while being willing to adjust when someone has a legitimate concern. It's a balance and one we will only strike well by being rooted in God's Word and listening to His Holy Spirit.  Sponsor Info: Voetberg Music Academy Check out Voetberg Music Academy Here Code: misformama20 Check out Christianbook.com Bible References: Romans 5:5 Psalm 119:105 Jeremiah 17:9 Deuteronomy 31:6 Links: M Is for Mama Penny Reward System Leave a Review for the M is for Mama Show Paint & Prose Pre-Order Hard Is Not the Same Thing as Bad M Is For Mama Chore Guide M Is For Mama Meal Plan Sign-Up Find Abbie at: Instagram YouTube Facebook

The truth is, we rarely receive enlightenment or next steps in the way we hope we will. We're back for part 2 of our chat with Blake Guichet about Christians and Politics.  We chat about whether open borders and socialism are truly biblical, what it means that God is the one who raises up and brings down kings, and what this means for our political decisions as Bible-believing Christians.  Wherever you fall on the political spectrum, we pray this episode will cause you to pray more, search your Bible diligently for truth, and trust yourself to the sovereign Lord of the universe whose purposes are always good, right, and true.
