About YouCan you tell us a little about your family life, your current role at Lighthouse and your responsibilities within our ACC Movement?Young LeadersOne of the key areas of focus for you as our NSW ACC State President is the development of young leaders. We also see this need apparent in our context. What do you think is missing from our churches that has meant we are short of young leaders, and what is it that we can do to find, raise and release young people?Finishing WellThere have been many leaders, both high profile and unseen, that have become COVID casualties, both during and whilst emerging from this pandemic. My heart is to see our leaders rise from strength to strength into the post-pandemic world. What would you be encouraging your leaders to be focusing on today, so that they are still winning tomorrow?Your LegacyIf you had unlimited time and resources, and if you knew you couldn't fail, what is something that you would start today that would become your legacy for the church of tomorrow?Your InfluencesWhom do you like to read, listen to or follow? The latest Regulatory Update podcast the focus is on the European Union's Emissions Trading Scheme and its implications for shipowners within the bloc and those whose ships call at EU ports. Paul Bartlett, a correspondent for Seatrade Maritime News (SMN) talks with SMN, Editor, Marcus Hand, and stresses the need for urgency but also explains the risk that regional emissions trading schemes could well undermine the IMO's global efforts. He also outlines some of the reasons why shipowner groups are concerned about the EU's go-it-alone approach, talks about the development of new fuels and their life cycle emissions assessment, and questions why no-one mentions nuclear power for ships. The technology exists today, it has been successfully tried and tested on a number of ships, and is a clean source of energy with no emissions. In other developments, shipping's own endeavors on decarbonisation are making remarkable progress, he concludes.

Have you ever noticed how, when viewed from a distance or over time, many things in life are actually more connected than we may realize in the moment? We connect a few dots today. Dots between Michelangelo in 1500s Italy, Elbert Hubbard and other Roycrofters in early 1900s East Aurora, NY, a toymaker of the 1930s, artisans skilled in various trades worldwide, and even a contemporary author who lives and writes in Franklin Tennessee. Add in the sinking of both the Titanic and the Lusitania and you'll have a little sprinkling of disparate thoughts that run through my mind as I walk around my little village on a December day. How could these people and events possibly be related? Have a listen to Episode 5 of Thoughts on Walks and find out! If you're interested in the book I mentioned from Jeff Goins, here's an Amazon link: Real Artists Don't Starve Here is a link to a picture of Paul Bartlett's sculpture of Michelangelo which is in the Library of Congress...I was a little off on the location ;) I hope you find some value in Thoughts on Walks.
