Is your family set up to govern well for 150 years? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, Bill, and David discuss:Telling everyone who you are unashamedly.Business as ministry to all it touches.Knowing where you're giving your money while keeping the most important purpose in mind - Jesus Christ.Maintaining the tree and distributing the fruit of the tree of your legacy.  Key Takeaways:Make it clear to your team what your mission and values are. Show them, but also tell them what you see is most important.Give God glory in all things, the good times and the hard times. The legacy is your values, not just the business.God has more for you than just accumulating the next bigger, better thing. Talk to Him and find out what He has for you.Align your righteous desires of the heart with God and turn it all over to Him.  "The starting spot is the most important spot - Jesus owns it. If you don't start there, you have no starting spot, and everything after that, probably 90-some percent, you're going to fail." —  David Green Episode References:The Legacy Life: How to Build Generations of Influence and Impact by David Green and Bill HighFamily Wealth by James E. Hughes Jr. About David Green: With a $600 loan and an idea to make miniature picture frames, David Green founded what is now Hobby Lobby. From its modest beginning, the company now totals over 1,000 stores. David serves as chairman of the affiliate companies, the CEO of Hobby Lobby, and a merchandise buyer.David and his wife Barbara are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter. They have 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.David's inspirational book, Leadership Not by the Book, shares his leadership principles through unconventional business approaches and wisdom from Scripture. Giving It All Away…And Getting It Back Again presents his journey into generosity, challenging readers to leave a legacy that goes deeper than money. His first book, More Than a Hobby, tells the story of Hobby Lobby and shares key insights into his philosophy of retail.  About Bill High: Bill is synonymous with three core values: Family, Legacy, and Generosity. He's facilitated workshops nationwide, focusing on the essence of family legacy and redefining its biblical meaning. An accomplished author, one of his notable works is "Leadership NOT by the Book," co-written with David Green. At 7 Generation Legacy, Bill is renowned for assisting families in crafting enduring multi-generational legacy plans. Bill was brought up in a low-income family in rural Missouri and came to know Jesus at a young age. His generosity journey began as a teenager, faithfully tithing on everything he earned. Bill started the first half of his career in law before leaving to launch what would later become The Signatry, a donor-advised fund platform that connects “donors with doers” tackling some of the world's biggest problems. Through his work with The Signatry, Bill developed a passion for seeing individual families united by a clear and driving mission and vision that reflects God's particular calling for them. In recent years, Bill has focused much of his efforts on consulting for and guiding families stewarding wealth through some of these considerations, and he has many practical considerations to share.  Connect with David Green: Website: https://newsroom.hobbylobby.com/ Connect with Bill High:Website: billhigh.com & legacystone.com7th Gen Consulting: 7thgenconsulting.comLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/williamfhigh Connect with Jeff Thomas:Website: arkosglobal.comPodcast: generousbusinessowner.comBook: arkosglobal.com/trading-upEmail: jeff.thomas@arkosglobal.comX: x.com/ArkosGlobalAdvFacebook: facebook.com/arkosglobalLinkedIn: linkedin.com/company/arkosglobaladvisorsInstagram: instagram.com/arkosglobaladvisorsYouTube: youtube.com/channel/UCLUYpPwkHH7JrP6PrbHeBxw

Alchemy For Life - How to's, observations, and tangible doable solutions to reduce stress, get control, have more fun.

You do less, but you get more. Well, hey there. Welcome back. Do you have any limitations? Oh, yes, of course you do. Let’s talk about them. And I think your first reaction is, “Well, here we go. We’re going to explore how I’m not good enough at something or how I don’t even do a thing.” Nope, we’re not doing that at all. In fact, we are going to look at why limitations are so important and how they actually make a product, a business, and a person better. What is this? Real life? Yes, I’m here to tell you yes, it is. The Danger of Trying to be Good at Everything in 2026 I read a book a while back called The Myth of Excellence. And one of the things it says in the book, and I’m paraphrasing, is the best way to sort of destroy your business and go out of business is to try to be good at everything. Years ago, I worked at a firm that had that same motto. And they tried to be good at everything and tell all of their clients that they could do anything and everything that their clients were asking. And they couldn’t. In their quest to be good at everything, they were essentially good at nothing. The Success of the 10-Minute Podcast Constraint When I started this podcast—and we are approaching 300 episodes in 2026—when I started it, the very first episode, I set a rule for myself. I set a limitation and the limitation was I would keep the episode if it was just me to about 10 minutes. I have adhered to that and every so often I go over to maybe 11 or 12 minutes and then I apologize profusely. That limitation has helped me to have a better show. It has helped me to have a show that’s better because it forces me to be more concise, but it also makes my show very different. When people find out that my show is only 10 minutes long, they’re shocked. And they’re shocked in a very pleasant way. They’re like, “Oh, I can digest that. Oh, I’ll just go empty the dishwasher and listen to your show.” “Oh, okay. Wow, that’s it.” I’ve had multiple people come to me and say, “Oh, yeah. I listen to like seven of your episodes.” Wow. Like so that’s really a cool thing that limitation has been very advantageous. Defining Strategic vs. Self-Improvement Limitations At the time of year that this podcast episode is coming out is we’re we’re we’re ending the year and it’s when everyone is making New Year’s resolutions and saying they’re going to be better and this and that. They’re probably looking at limitations as something they’re going to overcome. And yes, there are certain things that you want to improve. You want to be better at weight loss. You want to be better at at consistency at this that the other thing. Yes. So, you’re sort of overcoming your scale and you’re saying, “I want this to be a seven when it’s only a three right now.” That’s fine. What I’m talking about are limitations that are typically self-imposed for a reason. If you’re running a business and you set limitations, you will find that very comforting. You will create a sort of comfort zone for you, your skills, your people, and yourself. You can do that for yourself as well where you have a limitation in something that you do whether it’s well when people ask for rides or they ask for favors I have a limitation of such and such and it can help you to maintain consistency and integrity and you’re kind of shaking your head right now going wait I never really looked at it that way it’s a positive thing yes it’s an absolute positive thing. Maintaining Professional Integrity with Time Limits Getting back to my use of it when I interview people and I am exceeding exceedingly grateful for the chances I’ve had so far with interviewing people. When I interview people, I always start it by telling them when I first approach them, I’m only going to use an hour of your valuable time, no more. I promise. And I’m surprised at how many of those people view that as they they act like this is a new thing. Like no one has ever approached them for an interview and said, “Here’s our time limit.” And there are obvious reasons for that, right? If you are running a show and you get somebody that you think is going to be really good, you want to squeeze every single delicious minute out of them that you can. So, you are actually doing yourself a disservice in their shortsighted view of it of saying, “Hey, I I told the guy it was only an hour, but he was willing to go longer. Darn it. Why did I do that?” Well, if he is willing to go longer, then you can go longer. And I had a guest that easily did an hour and a half and wanted to actually do more where I actually had to push back and say, “You know what? Why don’t you come back?” So again, a limitation simply related to the podcast and timing. And I want to stress again that these limitations, unlike self-improvement limitations per se, are self-imposed limitations that have to do with something that you think is a good thing. Like for example, this is not, oh, I’m just going to limit myself to have only one and a half cakes. No, I’m not talking about like limiting your eating and things like that. Those are just that’s a different concept. This concept is there’s a thing that I do or enjoy or or could do, but I don’t. The Business Advantage of Scarcity and Brand Recognition Getting back to the business again, if you’re a creator and let’s say you create 3D printed objects, you may limit yourself to things that are not so fragile or things that are small or things that are really easy to ship. Can you create and print the larger things? Absolutely. Are those high ticket items? Absolutely. Are those things that people request? Sure. But you may just say, “No, I limit myself and I don’t do those. Maybe if I do a a in-person fair somewhere, I may print those and bring those with me. But when it comes to my online store, I limit myself to only doing the little tiny things.” Could Chick-fil-A be open on a Sunday? Yes, but they limit themselves and they’re not open on a Sunday. Not being open on a Sunday costs them an estimated 1 billion with a B dollars of revenue, but they actually gain more than that because it gives them more brand recognition. It increases scarcity because people think, “Oh, I want, oh, it’s closed. Oh, I better go there on Tuesday then.” So, it’s a net gain for them limiting themselves of actually not allowing their customers to buy their products on one day every single week. Hobby Lobby is the same way and they both create a certain image in the mind of many consumers, an image that they cannot create without creating that limitation. Setting Social Boundaries to Protect Your Time and Energy If they say, “Oh yeah, we have morals and ethics and this and we want our people to be taken care of.” Sure, any business can say that. But a business that actually forces itself to be closed on a specific day can say that you too can create that perception. And I don’t mean just a perception like it’s false. I mean a perception in other people of your behavioral patterns by enforcing a limitation. You can present yourself as someone who’s very friendly to your friends and say, “Oh yeah, I’ll help out anytime. Just call me.” Okay, but a lot of people say that. But if you say, “If you want me to help you, let me know.” but you’re going to give me some lead time or I can’t help you. It shows them that you’re serious. It shows them that you actually are committing to helping them, but they are going to also have to come step up to you and say, “Hey, you know, I didn’t just think of this out of nowhere. I actually need help and I’m going to do some planning.” You know, do emergencies happen? Of course. But I’m saying by pushing back and forcing a limitation on your kindness in a way it can help people to say, “Oh, he’s actually serious about that.” Conclusion: Why Doing Less Allows You to Get More Banks, restaurants, retail, etc., etc. The list goes on. There probably isn’t a business out there that doesn’t have a limitation that they self-imposed. There isn’t a business out there that some of the people in a round table, CEO, CFO, what have you, see people, marketing, what have you, sat down and said “well you know we could do this right?” and the answer was yes but we’re not going to and we’re not going to because it is a limitation that we are imposing and there’s usually push back of yes but we’ll see this increase in revenue yes but it’s just not part of our brand or it’s just moving forward not something we really want to do. Imposing limitations on yourself, your business, etc. can be extremely valuable. It can be something that reduces your stress, reduces your time, energy, and resources. Again, it’s one of those things I try to introduce in these podcasts where you do less, but you get more. And it shouldn’t work that way, but it does. So, what in your life is something that you intentionally or unintentionally have realized you’re setting a limitation on? And if you’re a business owner, this may be something that is a 50-page document, your operating agreement. Or if you’re a person running a human being, yourself or your children, it may be something that you’ve just come to realize is something that you do. So, what do you do? What what do you not do and why? It’s something worth looking into. And again, if you’re using the CheckMark™ app, then this podcast will automatically have its own little worksheet built in that you can click and copy to your clipboard and then kind of go through the homework of this. And it’s not homework per se, but it’s something that is a really cool thing that allows you to kind of go through review of this episode. And I I don’t really know of any other podcasts out there that that try to give you a lot of good information in 10 minutes and that allow you to use a fun little app to go through it and say, “Oh yeah, yep. I did this. I did this.” And it’s much better at retaining and it’s kind of a fun interactive thing. And that, my friends, is my 10 minutes. Thank you. PS – See Top 10 things you can do NOW to be successful in 2026 for things you can do now for success. As a bonus you can snag the CheckMark™ ap for free for your phone and desktop that will help you to track, motivate yourself, and make being successful in 2026 just downright fun.

Last day of work this week as we'll be off on Thursday & Friday for Christmas. Doc joined me in the studio this morning which means we got a racing report thanks to County Materials in Holmen! Also let you know what's on TV today/tonight and what's new on the big screen tomorrow! In the news this morning, the latest on tonight's $1.7 billion Powerball drawing, Morgan Geyser is going back to a mental institution, an update on the Brown University shooting, and a judge dismisses the charges against Matthew Sierra. In sports, the Bucks got a much-needed win over the Pacers last night, a look at the Week 17 NFL schedule, tomorrow's NBA Christmas day action, a rundown of yesterday's Bowl games, and an update on Jordan Love's condition! Another day, another dog trapped in frozen waters getting rescued by emergency responders! Elsewhere in sports, DK Metcalf's suspension is upheld, the Chiefs are getting a new stadium, and Lindsey Vonn qualifies for the Winter Olympics! Talked about a couple of holiday-themed surveys this morning: Do you save wrapping paper? Nearly 1/3rd of Americans do save it & reuse it. Is a "donation in your name" a good or bad gift? Apparently, most people think it's a good gift. Not me! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who got busted for performing surgery while intoxicated, a #FloridaMan who exposed himself in a Hobby Lobby, a kid in Russia who got really sick by drinking his own blood, and a woman in Ohio who sexually assaulted a six year-old.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our dear, dear sister and really co-founder of Christian Car Guy Theater went to her graduation to be with the Lord November 14, 2025. So happy for her as she is experiencing the title of her book, "Hi From The Sky On The Road To – Happily Ever After". We at the Christian Car Guy Show and especially Christian Car Guy Theater have a giant hole in our hearts as it was Ann's Joy and enthusiasm that started us rolling into full-on Theater episodes and kept it going even after her health had taken her memory. I actually recorded with her October 10th, 2025 days before she had the stroke that took her to heaven on November 14th. Her heart for the Lord was truly her life, she did countless prayer meetings, phone prayer you name it, volunteered and worked for her church, wrote her amazing book, recorded and helped produce amazing projects from TV film and radio. I met her shortly after she moved to North Carolina from Hollywood, where she had been the Founder of Christian Actors Co-op with an amazing career in Show business including a regular on Adventures in Odyssey. She had just written her book in 2013 and I was at the Christian Chamber Luncheon in Charlotte where she lived and she introduced herself and her book so I had her on my show Kingdom Pursuits, shortly there after, clearly a divine appointment. Joy came out of every word every thought of Ann, it was a connection I'm sure neither of us would have guessed where it would lead God was doing a miracle in both our lives. Somewhere about a year later I worked on a radio show idea for the folks with Hobby Lobby, a radio show drama about their traveling Bible museum at the time, Passages was the name. I loved doing radio theater and I especially loved that it could reach the next generation for Jesus. Hobby Lobby didn't like the show and I was devastated. So devastated I cried out to God. He responded with, "Robby, you have a radio show, (Christian Car Guy), and you program it, do a theater episode if you want that for children or child like hearts." I took the idea and ran with it doing the first episode of Christian Car Guy Theater – Lazy Sammy Starter. Ann was listening the day it aired and she called me. She told me she loved it and would I write her into another episode. I was thrilled and within a few weeks she and I recorded Silly Sally Serpentine. Ann (Now French Fender, and many more) was so excited she began to share what she was doing with her friends, Ellen Kennedy (Gracie Gas Tank), Burt Rosenburg, (So many different parts) and Chris Van Cleave (Cramer Crankshaft and our Sheriff), all actors, and Ellen an amazing writer, as was Ann. Ann, Ellen and I began to meet on the phone and together we wrote the many, many more episodes. The Theater began to have a life of its own adding cast members weekly, with Ann promoting the show to all her Actor Co-op friends as well in Hollywood. Soon we had Brian Habicht, (Randy Radiator and Deputy Eustace) and even Jesse Corti, (of Beauty and the Beast Fame). That Christmas we decided to take on a full Christian Car Guy hour with the 12th Episode – "A Christmas Carol-la". This year marks the tenth Christmas it has played being the second most downloaded episode ever of The Christian Car Guy Radio Show. Many, many episodes eventually with Jesse's talent in 2020 we began the series on The Pilgrim's Progress we called Plymouth's Progress. However we never completed it as Ann began to lose her abilities to use the computer, get the scripts out etc.. God to the rescue again as Ellen got the idea to do short easy episodes just featuring Ann, Ellen called – "Famous Fairy Tales" in February 2024. She didn't need a script and I would record her over the phone simply giving her a line and she would say it back to me… She loved it and it brought her Joy back very time. God was there for Ann even when she couldn't remember, why I was calling or what we were doing, she would brighten up like the gifted actress she is whenever she had a line. Those are very cherished memories for me and I have some sound bytes of that I'll share in today's show…. PLUS Ellen and Burt will be live with us, Bob Young and some recorded tributes from other member of the cast… Don't miss it…. WE LOVE YOU- ANN!!!

(Inspired by Jack Ma & Divine Wisdom)1. The Secret No One Tells You    "Before market research, before technology, before your degree—put God first. That's the real billionaire mindset."    Jack Ma's Story: Failed college twice, rejected from 30+ jobs. Started praying. Then built Alibaba in a tiny apartment with 18 people and faith.    Key: Success isn't just hustle + luck. It's alignment with divine purpose.2. Why God is Your Ultimate Competitive Edge    Clarity Beyond Logic: Decisions stop being just "smart" and start being right.        Example: Jeff Bezos' "Regret Minimization Framework" (prayer-like reflection before big leaps).    Peace Beyond Circumstances:        No therapist can prescribe the calm of "God's got this."        "Man plans, God laughs." — But His plans are better.    Strength in Failure: Jack Ma's failures became fuel because he saw them as divine redirection.3. How to Actually "Put God First"(It's Not Just Praying Before Meals)    Morning Surrender: Start your day with "God, use me today." (Not "Here's my to-do list, bless it.")    Decision Filter: Ask:        "Does this honor God?"        "Is this driven by ego or service?"    Work as Worship:        Sweep floors like you're building a cathedral.        Jack Ma: "We didn't sell products—we served dreams."4. Today: $500B empire.    Modern Proof:        Chick-fil-A (closed Sundays) outperforms competitors.        Hobby Lobby credits growth to biblical principles.    Not Superstition: It's operating in divine flow.5. The compass always wins."Your Move:    If you're stuck: Pray before you plan.    If you're winning: Thank God louder than your ego.(For deeper study: Read Jack Ma's speeches on faith + hustle.)Why This Works:    Neuroscience: Prayer reduces anxiety by 27% (Harvard study).    History: From Rockefeller to Oprah, top achievers credit divine guidance.    You: That gut feeling? This episode of The Redacted Report takes a hard, clear-eyed look at the Golden State Killer case, not by retelling the headlines everyone already knows, but by sitting in the uncomfortable spaces where the story actually lives. We follow the arc from Joseph James DeAngelo's earliest known crimes in 1974 through his arrest in 2018 and sentencing in 2020, with one chilling fact threaded through every phase: while California was being terrorized, DeAngelo was also an active-duty police officer. He wasn't just hiding from law enforcement—he was learning how it worked from the inside, and that advantage shaped the way he hunted, the way he covered his tracks, and the way he stayed untouchable for more than forty years. The episode opens by naming that truth right out loud, because it changes everything. The person stalking neighborhoods, breaking into homes, and destroying lives wasn't a shadowy outsider. He wore a badge, carried a gun, and walked into work like any other sworn officer. From there, the story steps back to his early life—childhood trauma, military service in Vietnam, criminal justice studies at CSU Sacramento, and a marriage that, on the surface, made him look like a normal young man building a future. But behind that veneer, something darker was already forming. We then move into the Visalia Ransacker years from 1974 to 1975, when DeAngelo committed more than a hundred burglaries and his first confirmed murder, all while serving as a police officer in Exeter. It's the first clear look at his patterns, his boldness, and the early moments when a different kind of attention might have stopped what was coming next. Instead, the case splinters, and the window closes. By 1976, just months after being hired by the Auburn Police Department, DeAngelo begins the East Area Rapist spree. Over the next several years, the Sacramento region is hit with at least fifty sexual assaults, each one escalating the fear and the stakes. The episode walks through how close investigators came—especially Detective Richard Shelby, who at one point was within arm's reach of the suspect. And yet, even with the net tightening, DeAngelo keeps slipping through, aided by his knowledge of police tactics and the blind spots that come with assuming the predator is always “someone else. One of the most haunting turns comes in 1979, when DeAngelo is fired from Auburn PD for shoplifting dog repellent and a hammer. On paper, it's petty theft. In reality, those items match the East Area Rapist's known methods so cleanly they should've set off alarms across the department. But they didn't. The moment passed as a minor embarrassment instead of the massive red flag it was, and DeAngelo simply moved on to the next phase. That next phase takes us south into the Original Night Stalker murders, stretching from 1979 to 1986. Here, the offender escalates from rape to routine homicide, killing victims while maintaining the same signatures and controlling routines seen in Northern California. The tragedy isn't only the violence itself, but the fact that law enforcement agencies failed to connect these crimes to the earlier Sacramento attacks, even though the methodologies lined up like fingerprints. The episode doesn't just describe that failure—it lingers on what it cost. The narrative then shifts to the years when the case begins to reawaken in the public eye, largely through the relentless work of Michelle McNamara. She coins the name “Golden State Killer,” brings the scattered crimes under a single identity, and spends years pushing the case back into the spotlight. Her death in 2016 adds a painful gravity to that chapter, but her book, I'll Be Gone in the Dark, leaves behind a surge of attention and pressure that helps fuel renewed investigative energy. Finally, the episode breaks down the genetic genealogy breakthrough that ended DeAngelo's run. Investigators upload crime-scene DNA to GEDmatch, locate distant relatives, and then do the slow, painstaking genealogical work to narrow the search. When DeAngelo becomes the focus, a covert DNA collection from a Hobby Lobby parking lot confirms it. In April 2018, he's arrested—an ending that feels impossible until it's suddenly real.We close with his guilty plea, the survivor testimonies that reclaim the final word from the man who tried to steal it, and a sober look at what this case forces us to confront. It exposes the dangers of law enforcement culture closing ranks, the catastrophic consequences of fractured communication between agencies, and the complicated future we're stepping into with genetic genealogy—where justice and privacy are now forever tangled together.

What happens when a business decides faith matters more than profit? Apparently, it flourishes.Hobby Lobby, founded by David and Barbara Green in Oklahoma City in 1972, is a private, family-owned corporation now with over a thousand arts-and-crafts stores nationwide. The stores are closed on Sundays, do not sell any Halloween-themed products, operate debt-free, and are run according to Biblical principles, emphasizing the value of faith and family life.David Green told me in our recent interview: “God blesses us when we do what we should do, rather than what's maybe most profitable.”“When we closed on Sunday, we did less business. When we stopped selling Halloween, we did less business. I can name seven or eight different things that ... cost us, but it was the right thing to do,“ he said. ”So I think God is asking us to do the right thing and not what's most profitable.”In 2012, the owners of Hobby Lobby sued the federal government for requiring company insurance plans to cover four specific contraceptives—two morning-after pills and two copper IUDs—that they argued could end life after conception. Facing daily fines of $1.3 million, the Green family filed a lawsuit that culminated in a 5–4 victory at the Supreme Court. In my interview with Green and his longtime friend and co-author of his many books, Bill High, we talk about their latest book “The Legacy Life.”How do we build a lasting, meaningful legacy? How do we become good stewards of our resources, time, and talents? How can families ensure their values are truly passed on to later generations—and not lost over time?Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

What if retirement isn't the goal of a good life—but a detour from your purpose? In this rich, countercultural conversation, Hobby Lobby founder David Green and legacy expert Bill High challenge the empty-nest, me-first script and offer a generational vision families can actually live. They unpack why purpose doesn't expire at 65, how multi-generation storytelling keeps a family's “chief storytellers” (grandparents!) at the center, and why mission, vision, and values—written down and rehearsed—beat hustle and highlight reels. You'll hear surprising practices from the Green family (including an annual family celebration, monthly giving meetings, and a conflict-resolution policy), a freeing definition of legacy as what you set in motion, and a simple refrain that reshapes wealth and work: earn, don't inherit; steward, don't own. For parents, teens, and grandparents alike, this episode is a practical field guide to building roots that outlast you—without losing joy in the day-to-day. Expect vivid stories (44-state camping in a pop-up, backyard tunnel cities, and taking principled risks), a reframe of “success” that prioritizes relationships over accumulation, and small moves with compounding power: draft a one-page family creed, name the ten stories your kids must know, protect a weekly Sabbath-style family meeting, and trade child-centered schedules for family-centered rhythms. They joined forces to write “The Legacy Life: Leading Your Family to Make a Difference for Eternity.” In this interview, we discuss how we need to reset the definition of “legacy”, how we should think in 150-year chunks, how to create generational Christian faithfulness, how to inculcate the elements of a family code in your family members, why we should let the Bible and not culture define what the family is and should do, how men can set their families up for generational success, why the Gospel of Jesus is at the center of all of the Green family's giving, and much more. Founder of Hobby Lobby, David Green, released a new book called The Legacy Life: Leading Your Family to Make a Difference for Eternity, that offers a Biblical framework for building multigenerational impact. In this conversation, hosts, Joey Svendsen and Jack Hoey, Jr. talk with David and co-author, Bill High, about the principles shared in their book, as well as a little about the Hobby Lobby story. From humble beginnings, David set out to be people-oriented in all of his business practices, including being generous with Hobby Lobby's earnings—giving half to charities and outreaches. David and Bill share what life truly is about—spoiler alert, it's not money.  The Legacy Life presents a paradigm-shifting perspective on living with eternal significance. Rather than accepting the conventional work until retirement approach, Green and High call readers to embrace a biblical, generational mindset that creates lasting impact across multiple generations. At top of episode, the host crew discuss their current heart postures toward money and share some disagreement about the vegetable, corn. David Green: Founder/CEO of Hobby Lobby employing 50,000 people at 1,000 stores in 48 states and grosses nearly $8 billion a year. Author of Leadership Not by the Book and The Leader's Devotional, Green received the World Changer and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. David, his wife, Barbara, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grands all live in Oklahoma City. Bill High: CEO of Legacy Stone, a ministry dedicated to helping families thrive today and for generations to come. Bill also founded one of the largest charitable foundations in the country where they facilitated more than $6 billion in gifts. He has consulted with families on a global basis on the subject of family legacy. He is the author and coauthor of several books, including Leadership Not by the Book. What Kind of Legacy Will You Leave? Most of us are working hard to build our businesses, provide for our families, and maybe even create a little security for the future. But what if the bigger question isn't about what you leave behind—it's about what you set in motion? In this conversation with David Green, founder of Hobby Lobby, and Bill High, CEO of The Legacy Stone, we get real about what it takes to live and lead with eternity in mind. These two men are not just business leaders who've created billions in value and impact—they're men who have chosen to orient their lives around family, faith, and generational change. And trust me, the way they've done it will challenge you to rethink everything you thought success was supposed to look like. David opens up about starting Hobby Lobby with just a $600 loan and how his focus wasn't on “exit strategies” or building wealth for wealth's sake, but on being faithful day by day. Bill shares how losing his father at 12 shaped his entire understanding of legacy—and why waiting until “someday” to invest in your family is a mistake you can't afford to make. Together, they break down practical principles like creating a family vision, crafting a code of conduct, and the power of storytelling to pass down values for generations. This conversation hit me hard on a personal level. I shared how my own father made one decision to get sober when I was 15, and how that single choice altered the course of my family forever. These stories are proof that it's never too late to change the trajectory of your life—or your family's future. Whether you're a CEO, an entrepreneur, or just someone trying to be more present with your loved ones, you're going to walk away from this episode with clarity on what matters most. If you've ever wondered whether it's possible to succeed in business without losing sight of your family or your faith, this interview is living proof that you can. And not just that—you must. Key Takeaways: Why legacy isn't just about what you leave behind, but what you set in motion How to create a family vision, mission, and code of conduct that lasts for generations The power of storytelling to instill values in your children and grandchildren Why financial success alone is never the true measure of wealth How one small, faithful decision can change your family's trajectory forever This isn't just a business conversation—it's a life conversation. One that will inspire you to think bigger, live with intention, and build something that outlasts you. —Max Out
