Washington's new tariff regime, an extra duty on India-origin imports and the end of the $800 de minimis exemption, is already rippling through India's textiles and apparel supply chain. Export margins are being squeezed, small businesses have maxed out working capital loans and inventories have piled up as orders have stalled, and mills are facing a major shortage of cotton. In the next part of a series on In Focus, looking at the impact of the United States' 50% tariffs on goods imported from India, we unpack who gets hit, how jobs are affected, and what policy support could cushion the blow for the textiles and apparels sector – a sector for which close to a third of its export orders come from the U.S. Guests: Soundariya Preetha M, Deputy Chief of Bureau, The Hindu Thivya Rakini, State President, Tamil nadu Textile and Common Labour Union (TTCU) Host: Kunal Shankar Edited by Sharmada Venkatasubramanian Learn more about your ad choices. This week on Face the Nation, amid a summer of distractions, President Trump seeks ways to divert attention back to his economic agenda. Leaving behind the Epstein files controversy, the president headed to Scotland for a weekend of golf, ahead of trade talks with two key European leaders as his tariff deadline looms. Before he left, he took his fight with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell straight to the Federal Reserve facility itself, where he demanded answers about rising construction costs. But are the accusations of mismanagement, or reluctance to cut interest rates, the real motive behind the president's crusade? We check in with White House budget chief Russell Vought, who was with the president during his trip to the Fed. Plus, we ask whether he's eyeing another round of spending cuts. And get the Democratic response from Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen. Then, Mr. Trump's war against higher education escalates as he asserts authority and influence by threatening to cut millions of dollars in funding. We'll hear from the president of the Ohio State University Ted Carter about its impact. Finally, Israel announces it will allow more foreign aid into Gaza, where the hunger crisis has reached catastrophic levels, when will it stop? We talk with the foreign minister of France, Jean-Noël Barrot, about international pressure to end the conflict. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/28/2025): 3:05pm- In a hidden video interview conducted by Project Veritas, Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee David Hogg and former Biden Administration staffer Deterrian Jones revealed that Jill Biden's Chief of Staff Anthony Bernal “had an enormous amount of power.” Jones continued: “The general public wouldn't know how this man looked, but he wielded an enormous amount of power. I can't stress to you enough how much power he had at the White House.” 3:15pm- While appearing on CNN, Alex Thompson—Axios reporter and co-author of “Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again”—revealed that Biden Administration cabinet members were not confident that Joe Biden was capable of handling a “2 am crisis,” if one were to occur. 3:30pm- On Wednesday, President Donald Trump was asked: “Do you still believe that Putin actually wants to end the war?” Trump said he doesn't know for certain but suspects Russian President Vladimir Putin may be “tapping us along,” in which case “we'll respond a little bit differently.” 3:40pm- The One Big Beautiful Bill: While speaking with CBS News's David Pogue, Trump Administration advisor Elon Musk said he was “disappointed” by the Republican spending bill that recently passed in the House. Musk suggested the enormous spending bill undercut DOGE's efforts. He joked: "I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful. But I don't know if it could be both." While speaking to the press on Wednesday, President Trump revealed he's “not happy about certain aspects” of the bill but likes other parts—specifically tax cuts. 3:45pm- During an interview with Charlie Kirk, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) revealed that he would vote “no” on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in its current form—and it does not have the support necessary to pass in the Senate. Republican Senators Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, and Josh Hawley are also believed to be against the bill in its current form. 3:55pm- On Wednesday, President Donald Trump took questions from the press and addressed his administration's decision to completely strip federal funding from Harvard University. Trump declared “Harvard has been a disaster.” Trump has called on the Ivy League university to prioritize the education of American students, eliminate anti-Semitism on campus, and hire faculty representing a diverse ideology. According to a 2023 Harvard Crimson poll, only 2.5% of Harvard's faculty openly identified as “conservative—with 77% labeling themselves as “liberal” or “very liberal.” 4:05pm- Will Chamberlain—Senior Counsel at the Article III Project & Internet Accountability Project—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the Trump Administration's decision to end federal funding for Harvard University and NPR. Both Harvard and NPR are now suing the administration, but who will win in court? 4:30pm- Daniel Turner—Founder and Executive Director of Power The Future—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his organization's investigation into former President Joe Biden's usage of the autopen. Turner explains that Power the Future concluded that there is “no evidence” Biden had knowledge of several executive orders related to progressive climate initiatives—consequently, they should be deemed null and void. You can read more here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/watchdog-finds-no-evidence-biden-knew-crucial-climate-eos-demands-answers-who-signed-autopen. 5:05pm- Susan Crabtree—RealClearPolitics National Political Correspondent & Author of the book, “Fools Gold: The Radicals, Con Artists, and Traitors Who Killed the California Dream and Now Threaten Us All”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss two female Secret Service officers getting into a physical altercation with one another while stationed outside of former President Barack Obama's residence. Many people in athletics are aware that Tarleton State has reclassified recently from D2 to D1-FCS with aspirations to eventually join the FBS ranks as the institution grows. But I have always been more interested in learning about Tarleton State the institution and behind-the-scenes of President Hurley's leadership style. This conversation is packed with wisdom that can be applied to either the presidency or the AD chair. The conversation begins with an institution profile and explaining the new projects going on at Tarleton, including a new convocation center (Arena). We talked about the unique role of the First Lady of Tarleton State, Kindall Hurley. From there the conversation turns to how Dr. Hurley leads his cabinet and he provides advice on how to prepare to eventually serve on a President's Cabinet for those aspirational ADs. President Hurley talks about how he and Parker Executive Search identified Steve Uryasz as the next AD of the Texans. I ask Dr. Hurley if he agrees with me that the "Modern AD" is more like the president's job than ever before. We briefly talk about the reclassification from D2 to D1 and the difficult decisions that are ahead for future school leaders in both divisions. As the Chief of Staff position continues to evolve in college athletics, I was sure to ask President Hurley about his own Chief of Staff, Dr. Credence Baker, to better understand the role and how much of an institutional expert the person needs to become to excel in the role. 0:00 Institutional Profile 6:05 Discussing New Arena & Growth 8:50 First Lady of Tarleton State 12:57 Explain your Cabinet Leadership Style & One-on-Ones with the Vice Presidents 17:49 Leading the Cabinet & Advice for Newcomers to a President's Cabinet 21:23 Behind-the-Scenes of the Recent AD Search 26:43 The New Modern AD Approach.
