In Part 1, you learned how illiberal regimes have used the political tools at their disposal – and their rich friends – to turn the media outlets of democratic European countries into propaganda machines. In Part 2 we're exploring the legal tools needed to complete the job and talking to local journalists who found themselves on the receiving end of these takeovers. Finally, we're asking: how can you stop a wannabe autocrat doing this in *your* country? This series was funded by Journalism Fund Europe, the Allianz Foundation, and supporters of The Europeans. It's a playbook that's been used by illiberal governments across Central and Eastern Europe: muzzling the media until it resembles little more than propaganda. But how exactly does one go about dismantling the free press, in a democratic country within the European Union? In Part 1 of this two-part special, Viktória Serdült, Dimitar Ganev and our producer Wojciech Oleksiak ask: how the hell did we get here? And how did the local press become such a powerful political weapon? This series was funded by Journalism Fund Europe, the Allianz Foundation, and supporters of The Europeans. Thanks for listening. The Springs in the Desert Podcast: Catholic Accompaniment Through Infertility
In today's Desert Reflection, Ann and Fr. Paul explore the lives of Saints Joachim and Anna, the Virgin Mary's parents. Since these saints are the patrons of Springs in the Desert, it's only fitting we get to know them and learn from them, especially how they carried their cross of infertility. These saints are perfect role models of how to grow in holiness, even in times of great trial. - „No pewnie, ale to dobra rywalizacja”!
No matter whether you participated in our Agile Barcamp, a non-conference Cloud First Academy hosted at the Zeche Zollverein a few weeks ago, here is another little treat we've saved for now: Listen to Anna Wörner, our key-note speaker on "Sustainable Learning", as she elaborates on how to deliver trainings in a sustainable manner. Anna and Katrin Wellmann share ideas to avoid short-term learnings, because, come on, we've all been there... bye-bye short-term learning! (German version)

#świątecznykalendarzgabrysiaudiobook #świątecznykalendarzgabrysiksiążkidladzieci #aktywneczytanieksiazkidladzieci „Świąteczny kalendarz Gabrysi”, podcast Aktywne Czytanie KSIĄŻKI DLA DZIECI I MŁODZIEŻYDzisiaj recenzja audiobooka pt. A czyta ją Dominika Kluźniak. Pamiętam to doskonale. Radio Emission of Nearby Early-type Galaxies at Low and Very-Low Radio Luminosity Range by Anna Wójtowicz et al. on Wednesday 23 November We analyze radio continuum emission of early-type galaxies with dynamical measurements of central super-massive black hole (SMBH) masses, and well-characterized large-scale environments, but regardless on the exact level of the nuclear activity. The 1.4,GHz radio fluxes collected with $sim$arcmin resolution for 62 nearby targets (distances $lesssim 153$ Mpc), correspond to low and very low monochromatic luminosities $L_{rm r} sim 10^{35} - 10^{41}$,erg,s$^{-1}$. We quantify possible correlations between the radio properties with the main parameters of supermassive black holes, host galaxies, and hot gaseous halos, finding a general bimodality in the radio luminosity distribution, with the borderline between ``radio-bright'' and ``radio-dim'' populations $log L_{rm r} / L_{rm Edd} simeq -8.5$. We analyze the far-infrared data for the targets, finding that all radio-bright sources, and over a half of radio-dim ones, are over-luminous in radio with respect to the far-infrared--radio correlation. High-resolution radio maps reveal that the overwhelming majority of radio-dim sources are unresolved on arcsecond scale, while the bulk of radio-bright sources display extended jets and lobes of low- and intermediate-power radio galaxies; those jets dominate radio emission of radio-bright objects. Regarding the origin of the radio emission of radio-dim sources, we discuss the two main possibilities. One is the ADAF model, in which the radio and the nuclear X-ray radiative outputs at very low accretion rates, are both dominated by unresolved jets. The other possibility is that the radio-dim sources, unlike the radio-bright ones, are characterized by low values of SMBH spins, so that their radio emission is not related to the jets, but instead is due to a combination of starforming processes and past nuclear outbursts. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.14638v2

For the last episode of the podcast, Stacey discusses Anna's trial with her real life defense attorney, Todd Spodek. She also meets with Matt Byrne, who wrote the series finale, and who attended Anna's trial as a representative from Shondaland and Netflix. Anna's defense attorney, Todd Spodek weighs in on the portrayal of his complex and ever evolving relationship with Anna, and on what the case meant to him personally. Anna was a difficult client at times, but she could also be profoundly charming and sweet. Todd reflects on the side of Anna he saw that he says no one else did. No one else except perhaps his good friend Jessica Pressler (Vivian's character is based on Jessica). He talks about their friendship, his thought process behind Anna's defense, what he thinks of his portrayal by Arian Moayed, and more. Later in the episode, Matt Byrnes takes us inside the courtroom from his perspective, and reveals how the trial impacted the show's ending. The trial was still ongoing as he and the rest of the writers were scripting the series. He gets into why they chose to make it a true story, “except for all the parts that are entirely made up,” and explains what his and Shonda's intentions were behind the most crucial moments in the series and the finale. Actor and podcaster Katie Lowes shares her unique casting experience and who she modeled the Rachel DeLoache Williams character off of. Katie tells behind the scenes stories from their time filming in Morocco, and the moment she believes everything changed between Rachel and Anna… it's probably not what you'd expect. Stacey and Katie also discuss what it would be like owing tens of thousands of dollars, an experience with which Katie IRL is not entirely unfamiliar. Katie has been with Shondaland for years, most notably in the role of Quinn Perkins on Scandal. She gives a glimpse inside the legendary storymaking machine and offers some insights into what makes up the Shondaland special sauce, along with her own takeaways from Inventing Anna. This week Stacey talks fashion, character arcs, and process with critically acclaimed costume designer, Lyn Paolo. Much of Anna's mystique comes from her ability to shapeshift, an ability intimately tied to her apparel. Lyn was in charge of recreating all of Anna's many outfits for the screen. From baby-doll dress to business-chic to trial style, Lyn traces the evolution of Anna's looks, and explains the unique challenges behind recreating the appearance of a modern day fashionista who Lyn calls a “chameleon.” Anna isn't the only character whose story is reflected in what they wear. The people who get close to Anna in the series are affected by her elevated taste as well. Stacey and Lyn discuss the interaction between character arcs and fashion for Vivian, Rachel, and Alan Reed. Anna's former trainer and life coach Kacy Duke divulges what was really behind her hesitation to be in Jessica Pressler's article, which episode was hardest to watch, and what her entanglement with Anna inspired in her own work as a life coach. She gives the scoop on what the Morocco trip and Anna's intervention were really like and how her lived experience compares to the show. Expect lots of laughs as Kacy lives up to her “effervescent” reputation (according to Laverne Cox) and delivers some delightfully on-brand inspirational mantras. On this week's episode, Laverne shares how she stepped into the (tennis) shoes of Anna Delvey's trainer and life coach, Kacy Duke. Laverne has all kinds of fun stories to tell about how she prepared for the role, like how she had to digitize Kacy's old fitness workout VHS tapes, and her four hour lunch with Kacy in New York. During that lunch, Kacy told Laverne her entire life story and Laverne found out that they actually have a surprising amount in common, primarily that they are both bad b*****s!! But also that they both have a strong connection to something larger than themselves. Stacey and Laverne dig into key Kacy-moments from the show and explore Kacy's relationship with Anna, Rachel, and Neff. Centered around the series, Laverne explores themes of feminism and solidarity among women. She reflects on Kacy's life and shares how this role has changed her. This episode features a conversation with the real Neff Davis, the hotel concierge who befriended Anna Delvey. Neff was loyal to Anna throughout the turmoil of her arrest and trial, going so far as to create an Instagram account for Anna's “trial style.” In this interview, she shares what her thought process was behind creating that account, what it's been like being a part of the Shondaland production, and so much more. Neff and Stacey discuss Neff's experiences with the fake heiress by reflecting on specific scenes from the show. Neff is still in touch with Anna and she sets the record straight about the nature of their friendship. Rachel Nelson, Chelle Swierz, and Melissa Longfellow were all teachers and leaders for many years in the Baptiste Yoga organization - a high-control yoga system led by Baron Baptiste that claims to be changing the world through its “methodology.” During that time they dedicated their careers and much of their personal lives to the group and the leader, believing that what they were doing was healing the planet. After each having their pivotal moment at different times, they re-connected to process their experience together and discover that what felt indescribably “off” was the result of cult indoctrination techniques. They subsequently started a podcast to share their experiences and educate people about the dangers in Baptiste Yoga: thought control, manipulation, coercion, and the charismatic leader. Each of them is now focused on taking back their own life and enjoying life exactly as they choose it. They join Rachel again this week to talk about their collective experience in hopes of informing others about the dark side of this very popular and powerful organization. In this second half of their two-part conversation, our guests pick up where they left off, with Melissa and Rachel providing more detail on their experiences with Baron and his organization. The dialogue is then opened up to examine the iceberg that is Baptise Yoga pointing out the many common red flags all three women have noticed in retrospect. Rachel offers her insights into the healing process that these brave women have begun. Before You Go: Rachel shares her thoughts on consent and autonomy in the yoga world and recommends safeguards that should be in place in all yoga settings. This is one of our BIOPSY episodes where instead of a documentary, we watch a ripped-from-the-headlines fictional account of a true story. Today we're covering the Shonda Rhimes Netflix hit Inventing Anna. Anna Sorokin, who went by the Mae up persona of Anna Delvey, was convicted of larceny in 2019. Delvey rose through New York's social strata and convinced many institutions and people to loan her money with a fake German heiress backstory, and this nine part miniseries dramatizes the saga with Julia Garner playing Delvey And our guest is comedian and musician Luna Malbroux, who fuses her experience as a skilled facilitator and educator of justice, equity, inclusion, diversity in all of her creative endeavors. She works in a number of genres from turning the documentary experience Mapping Privilege into an award winning play, How to Be A White Man, To blending jazz, comedy, and storytelling with her band, The Moon and The Man. Luna has been featured on NPR, PBS, AJ+, Glamour Magazine, The Atlantic and more. Creator and Showrunner Shonda Rhimes shares her approach and process adapting a true story into a limited series in real time. The powerhouse executive producer dives into how she constructed Anna Sorokin's (AKA Anna Delvey's) character, what inspired her decision to anchor the show from a journalist's perspective, and why scenes with Vivian's band of misfits in Scriberia were some of her favorites. Later in the episode, Shonda chats with her closest confidante in creating the series, Jessica Pressler. Jessica wrote the 2018 New York Magazine story that inspired Inventing Anna. She tells Shonda why Anna's story felt unique and what it was like to meet the fake German heiress for the first time. Oh hai! Look at Amanda, a day late uploading..we're all surprised. This week on Homies, Amanda and Chelsea aka Chedda aka tiny human aka Pammie Pocket keep the LISK conversation rolling. Amanda takes us through the life and disappearance of Melissa Barthelemy. Before she became known as a victim of LISK, Melissa grew up in a very tight knit family. After graduating cosmetology school, Mel made her way to the big city and unfortunately, this would be her demise. After falling in with Blaze aka Johnny aka dick head, Melissa decided she didn't want to split her money with a wannabe pimp (as she should. fuck the man.) and she began looking for sex work on craigslist and this was one of the last things she would ever do. . After having been missing for a week, her family finally made enough noise to kick the cops into gear. Would she have ever been found if Shannan Gilbert hadn't gone missing? Probably not. But, her death wasn't the end of the story for Melissa's family. Listen this week and find out the truly bazar things that happened in the days following the murder of Melissa. Also find out how little Amanda means it when she says she isn't going to acknowledge the chat when she streams the episodes. . Oh hai homies! Welcome back to another chaotic episode of Homies & Homicide, where Amanda cons her friends in to coming on her passion project podcast and talks about homicide with them. This week? This week we have the cheese in the house. The miss of the swiss. The colby to my jack, Chelsea! *plays fun exciting music* What're are we talking about this month? Well, since you asked, Amanda is taking us down the rabbit hole that is the case of the Long Island Serial Killer and more specifically, how the disappearance of Shannan Gilbert lead to the unearthing of the Gilgo Beach 4. . Shannan Gilbert was a sex worker in the NYC area in 2010. Used as a means of getting ahead financially, Shannan's playground was backpage. She could work for herself and only have to pay a driver and not a pimp, but was this her downfall? Tune in while we discuss how Shannan's misfortune happened that may night. After getting a call to a john's house an hour away, it wasn't long before she was making a 23 minutes 9-1-1 call screaming, "They're trying to kill me!" then essentially running off into the wilderness of Oak Beach. Would Shannan's killer have been caught if Suffolk county police had only taken her boyfriend seriously the day after the incident? Is Shannan an actual victim of LISK...or is this just a wild coincidence? How's bubbles living? She aint. . Episode Notes This episode of RMC Podcast features a conversation with associate professor at RMC, composer Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard, a conversation about Curatorium – the festival that never takes places. You will also be hearing works by RMC students Anna Wærum, Astrid Emilie and Ginte Preisaite. Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard have for a number of years been occupied with imaginary sound, and from 2017-2020 he carried out an artistic research project with the simple and yet very telling title Music for the inner ear. In this research project he asked questions like: Can written stories about sound manifest themselves as imaginary pieces of music inside the listeners mind? A kind of music in which the listener also becomes the composer? And can the story about a piece of art become the piece of art? These questions are also the common thread in this podcast episode where Niels elaborates on all the ideas that springs from the concept of an imaginary sound art festival.

We’re joined by Anna Khachiyan (@annakhachiyan), co-host of Red Scare and internet punching bag. We cover a very wide range of topics - the plight of women, gays, and just about anybody else. We talk about Cottagecore, “trad” aesthetics (and what people miss about them), and the politics of being tolerant of people who are wrong but interesting.

A story about beavers by Anna W (fall 2017)
Programledare: Thomas Nordegren Bisittare: Louise Epstein Producent: Jon Jordås
