This is Renegade Files Episode 61, Artificial Intelligence: The History, Ethics, and Future of AI. When I was a kid the promise of the future was beautiful, exciting, and, well, futuristic. We rode the Monorail at Disney and were told that in the future, everyone would travel on those incredibly smooth, electromagnetic hovering trains. We'd all have flying bubble cars like the Jetsons, sleek robots would clean our homes and cook our meals, and hoverboards were just around the corner. The Tyrell Corporation would sell us genetically engineered humanoid replicant girlfriends, and rebel pilots could explore the star systems of exotic worlds. But the monorail never left Disney World. When hoverboards came out, they had wheels. Flying cars and our pleasure model replicants resided firmly imprisoned within our TV, Computer, and Phone Screens. The disappointment that resulted generated a negative creative response and we got an overdose of dystopian sci-fi, zombie movies, cataclysmic disaster predictions, and suddenly, the future was far less bright.  In short, we never got the future we were promised. But then, a glimmer of futuristic hope. Artificial Intelligence. We go deep on this one, so put the car on autodrive and get ready to have your organic mind blown, on Renegade Files episode 61 we explore the cutting edges of Ai.--------------------------Help Crowdfund RF on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/renegadefiles Get cool RF Merch https://www.bonfire.com/store/renegade-files/ Visit and Share the Website http://therenegadefiles.com Dig us on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@renegadefiles Follow RF on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/renegadefiles/--------------------------If you think we deserve it, please leave us a 5-Star Review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Why Phone Screens Are Still Made From Glass And Not Plastic

Nowadays, most smartphones are covered in glass to make them look nice. But this design choice has a drawback: even the smallest bump can cause the surface of your phone to shatter. But why are phone screens made of glass, and not something harder to crack like plastic? Plastic is more resilient than glass when dropped. And you could actually buy smartphones with plastic screens for a much lower price. Maybe this is gonna happen in the future? Speaking of the future, phone manufacturers are always looking for new ways to make our gadgets more durable and smarter. And sometimes when they start thinking about what the smartphones of the future will look like, they end up with some interesting ideas. There's a chance that smartphones might one day completely replace our banks and credit cards. And smartphones will probably play a more important role as ‘authenticator' systems! Back and forth scheduling and lengthy phone screens with hundreds of candidates quickly add up and can be costly — especially amidst a talent shortage where every minute and candidate interaction matters”

The phone screen is the very first step of the interview process.  Are you the type that gets intimidated or unsure about what to expect?  In this episode of Jess Get Hired, we will talk about the steps to help you prepare if you get a call from a recruiter or hiring manager.  A phone screen gives the company a chance to get to know you quickly and for you to learn more about them.  It is a casual conversation that lasts about 15-30 minutes to see if you meet the qualifications, learn more about you and your personality, see if your experience lines up with the job description and if you would be a good fit for the company.  This is also a chance for you to ask questions to determine if this is even the right company for you!   Phone screens don't have to be intimidating if you prepare for it!  We will share a few strategies and tips to help you get through this important step to get closer to the job that you want. We will go over: Why a phone screen is a necessary step to the hiring process. A recruiter's role in the phone screen How you should prepare? Changing your voicemail if you are in job search mode The Elevator Pitch - how to introduce yourself How to answer questions about job history  Sharing what you are looking for The dreaded compensation question Questions you should ask before hanging up the phone Phone screens are casual conversations, so practice what to say in case you get that phone call!   An outline of the podcast and some practice samples will be posted at www.jessgethired.com   What are tips you have found that have helped you?  Share them with me at jessgethired@gmail.com or connect on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/fiestageorge (Jessica Fiesta George) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jessgethired/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jessgethired/support

Throughout evolution, exposure to sunlight and the photosynthesis of vitamin D has been critically important for the evolution of land vertebrates. But all of a sudden in the past few decades, we have been burying the Sun from our lives while simultaneously increasing our exposure to artificial light. Could this be a foundational mistake for our health? Has the status quo's fear of the sun been blown out of proportion?Circadian medicine won the most recent Nobel Peace Prize saying that a resolution towards chronic disease is to live in-tune with our natural circadian rhythms. Simply, 'go back to nature' is now the prescription healing.
