"Suzi Moon, who made her bones as a teenage terror with big sis Liza Grave’s globally infamous all-female Civet in the early 00’s, conjures high-voltage guitar thrills and intense soul-baring vocals that combine for a richly satisfying flurry of musical knock out punches. Moon’s unblinking lyrical realism and aggressively creative attack pushes everything into a ninth dimension of perfected, highly expressive punk rock n' roll." - Jonny Whiteside, LA Weekly On Episode 5, "Don't Fuck with Sacred Places" we spoke with Suzi Moon as she shares about her journey as a musician in Los Angeles, the ups and downs of the music industry and speaks about her solo project that will be introducing a new "Suzi Moon." Suzi then shares some extremely scary encounters she experienced for 2 months straight after collecting rocks from a sacred burial ground in Gettysburg, PA. She shares her love for rock collecting, but admits that she innocently collected them from the wrong place when she starts to experience night terrors, demonic encounters and visions of a "portal to hell." She sends out a friendly reminder that although a simple hobby like rock collecting may seem harmless, be very cautious and aware of where you are collecting them from. Unfortunately, shortly after this interview took place, L.A Machina parted ways as a band. Although we are very saddened to hear this news, we wish Suzi, Rikki and Michelle the best of luck in their future endeavors. How do composers pick subject matter for a new opera? What is the composing process like? How does a composer work with a librettist? How much time do composers get to create an opera? In this episode of The Metropolitan Opera Guilld Podcast, we explore all of those questions and more in the release of an archival recording from 2017! This event featured a live interview panel as part of our Opera in the New Millennium program, when lecturers Naomi Barrettara and Elspeth Davis sat down with composers Missy Mazzoli, Paola Prestini, and Kevin Puts to learn more about their work as contemporary opera composers.
