Aaron Sarnecky is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Better Call Saul, but his brother is conspicuously absent. Filling in for Josh is Alex Marcus, Podcast Director of The Pop Break. Alex previously discussed Breaking Bad with Aaron. Better Call Saul is a legal crime drama created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spinoff of Breaking Bad. It premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The show ran for six seasons and a total of 63 episodes. It ended on August 15, 2022. The show had a short-lived animated prequel on AMC+, entitled Slippin' Jimmy. The series chronicles the evolution of small-time attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) into the morally corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad. It also reveals Saul's future living under an assumed name. Other returning characters include his eventual fixer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) and drug distributor Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). New characters include Jimmy's romantic interest Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), his brother Chuck (Michael McKean), Chuck's legal partner Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), drug dealer Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), and cartel leader Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). Like Breaking Bad, many critics consider Better Call Saul one of the greatest television shows of all time. Some even hail it as better. It was nominated for 53 Emmy Awards with no wins (a record for nominations without a win). Nominations included Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Aaron and Alex chat about their exposure to Better Call Saul before going into the two-night series premiere, the general plot, the performances, the connections to Breaking Bad, and the series finale. They also ponder the potential for another show set in the Breaking Bad universe. For a podcast on another prestigious TV series, you can listen to Aaron and Josh talk about Game of Thrones. There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters. Join hosts Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor, and Kris Ingersoll, co-host of the Media/Lit podcast, as they bring on several guests every month to share their passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. In 2024, we brought you the year of villains. We ranked the animated series villains, all the Joker actors, and most recently, Batman villains who've yet to make their live action film debut. All these episodes are proof that more than any other superhero, Batman has the deepest roster of great villains. We talked about Professor Pyg for crying out loud. In our last episode of 2024, it's time bring this theme home in style. We're drafting again, and this time, it's all VILLAIN THEMED. While villains were a category in last summer's Definitive Batman Draft, this draft takes the concept of a Batman villain even further, as we now draft specific iterations of villains spanning multiple movies, TV shows, comic arcs, and much more. To mimic one of the great Jokers, “wait till they get a load of these categories.” Trust us when we tell you, we've come up with the definitive list of Batman villain categories. Returning to draft with Daniel and Kris are Alex Marcus, Podcasting Director of the Pop Break, and Randy Allain, co-host of the Pop Break's Pod of Doom, as well as Kris's co-host of the Media/Lit Podcast. Also making his return to the podcast, it's co-host of the Anniversary Brothers podcast, and Pop Break's Anime podcast, Anime x Pop, Josh Sarnecky. Without spoiling too much, we'll just tell you the first two rounds of this draft are completely chaotic. We can't stress this enough; you will be surprised early at some of these picks. We present to you the DEFINITIVE BATMAN VILLAINS DRAFT!

It's time to celebrate the bench players of the Batman rogues gallery; Mad Hatter. Clayface. Calendar Man. Firefly. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. Let us take you back to 2019, when a little movie called Joker was released in cinemas. Directed by Todd Phillips of The Hangover fame, and starring Joaquin Phoenix, this movie took a different approach to the villain we've all known for decades. It was an experiment in the superhero genre to say the least, but an experiment that paid off BIG TIME. Despite the high divisive nature of the film, Joker brought in over a billion dollars at the box office worldwide, was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and got two wins, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. It was a phenomenon. Flash forward to 2024. The sequel. Joker: Foile à Deux. Todd Phillips is back. Joaquin Phoenix is back. Lady Gaga gets added. It's going to be even bigger, right????!!!!! Yikes. By the time you listen to this podcast, the Joker: Foile à Deux Blu-ray could be in a Costco bin behind a giant stack of Cheez-Its in what has to be one of the biggest box office flops of the last five years. Daniel and Kris are joined by the co-host of the Joy Schtick Show, Thomas Craig, as the three discuss this highly anticipated (or maybe not?) sequel. Do they agree with the consensus that the movie is awful…you might be surprised. All angles of this movie are dissected. The cast. The ending. The writing. What worked. What didn't work. The musical element. Was Lady Gaga underutilized? While all relevance of this sequel is evaporating before our very eyes, you'll want to revive your Joker: Foile à Deux opinions one last time, because this is one GREAT conversation you don't want to miss!

They also discuss if the series would work in today's Disney-nostalgia fueled era, as well as reviewing the Halloween centric episode "The Trickening."
