After that, he went to Bible College where he gained a degree and a bride. He has been in many forms of ministry since February of 1973. He has been a youth pastor, an assistant pastor, and a senior pastor. In the most downloaded episode of 2023, Riley Taylor interviews Mike Neglia in Seattle, Washington about how preaching is a bidirectional act of love, love towards God and love towards people, why pastors should aspire to be “normal people” full of hospitable practices, attentiveness towards their cities and congregations and self-awareness, and they speculate about John Calvin's enneagram number!  “Without knowledge of self, there is no knowledge of God. Our wisdom, insofar as it ought to be deemed true and solid wisdom, consists almost entirely of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves. Riley Taylor's first love was football. He was an All- District quarterback and All-State punter in high school. Taylor also exceled at baseball, leading his team to a State Title as a senior. He was recruited by division one programs for both sports. Just not by Oklahoma State. Taylor walked on as a pitcher for Cowboys in 2019. He did not see game action until May 28, 2023. Four seasons sitting in the bullpen, and he finally got the call. Taylor was the only pitcher during his first four seasons to never see game action. He admits there were plenty of times over the years where he questioned if he was good enough to play DI ball. However, he never once thought about leaving Oklahoma State.

In this episode Aaron sits down with his friend pastor Riley Taylor to discuss the importance of creativity in ministry. Aaron and Riley share a background in filmmaking and youth ministry, and have always believed in using their creative skills to enhance their ministry work. Riley explains that creativity in preaching can lead people to truth. By using creative elements like metaphors, stories, and illustrations, pastors can help people better understand and connect with biblical truths. He also stresses the importance of storytelling in ministry, as it can help people see the Gospel in a fresh light and make it more relevant to their lives. Both Aaron and Riley point out that God himself is a creative being, as evidenced by the creation story in Genesis 1. They believe that humans were created to be creative, and that using that creativity in ministry is a way of fulfilling our purpose. However, they also caution against letting ego and self-focus take over in the creative process, and emphasize the need for humility and surrender to God's will. Overall, this episode encourages ministers to embrace their creativity and use it as a tool for ministry, while remaining grounded in the truth and humility of Jesus. -------------- LINKS: Riley Taylor's Crazy Acts Flannel Graph Videos One of Riley's Creative Sermon Videos During Covid Sermon's from Riley's Church

This week we have the 2021 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase winner Riley Taylor joining us On The Porch with Front Porch Music.Last year, Riley won the biggest competition in Canada. Since that time, he has been laying the foundation to have a huge debut in the world of Country music. The time has finally come for his debut single to be released. He has released "Good Things" and it came at the perfect time. When Riley was announced as a finalist in the 2021 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, he was completely unknown by anyone outside of his hometown. He hadn't released any music, didn't have a website, and barely had any social media presence. So we were all excited to hear what he was all about. From the moment he got on that stage, it was clear that he was the one to watch. On this episode, we talked about what that whirlwind of a process was like for him. How as a shy person he found himself through music. We spoke to Riley earlier this year. The Tongass National Forest, located in Southeast Alaska, is the largest National Forest in the United States at 16.7 million acres. As of October 28, 2020, 9.3 million acres of the Tongass were no longer protected by the Roadless Rule, opening it up for things like road construction and logging. Anchorage Youth Vote is a nonpartisan organization that works to empower youth to vote and be engaged in the democratic process. In a normal year they would be putting on mock elections, hosting candidate forums for state-wide races, and getting into the community to educate youth about the rights and responsibilities of living in a democratic society. This year, as we all know, is quite different. There is a presidential election, but when you add on an increasingly divided political climate, ongoing protests over systemic racism and police brutality, and a global pandemic, Youth Vote’s work becomes much more challenging. So on today’s episode we’re going to hear from two of the organization’s members. Tuan Graziano, who has been a member since 2014, and Ava Earl, who’s been with them for about a month now. ATMI senior producer Daisy Carter, who is now a sophomore at UAA, attended the film, audio, and video production class at King Technical High school a few years ago. It’s where she learned a lot of the skills that she’s brought to her work here at ATMI. But this year, that course is much different than when she was there. Due to the coronavirus hitting this spring, classes had to switch to an online format. It’s one thing to learn math or history over Zoom, but a hands-on craft like filmmaking isn't as easy to learn remotely. So Daisy called up her former teacher, Jeremy Blake, who is entering his third year teaching the course. They spoke about the adjustments he had to make in switching to online learning, how the pandemic has affected students’ lives and education, and how the film industry is trying to work safely. One of the more frequent questions that we receive has to do with time management. How can a preacher or Bible teacher manage his or her time in order to maximize their effectiveness as they deliver God’s Word? There are only 168 hours per week and 24 hours per day; and many important commitments already claim many of those hours. How can a busy Christian carve out time to study in the midst of an already busy week? This question and more are answered in today’s episode, a live Q+A panel recorded in San Diego featuring Pastor Rob Salvato, Miles Debenedictus, Shawn Stone, Nick Cady, Riley Taylor, Rob Salvato and Pete Nelson. The Expositors Collective is a growing network of pastors, leaders, and laypeople which exists to equip, encourage, and mentor the next generation of Christ-centered preachers.
