Their dad worked in the snow safety department, so the pair was skiing and understanding the mountains from a very young age. John's mom homeschooled them in winter, allowing them to spend more time on skis. At 17, John won the Junior Freeskiing World tour, and the same year became the youngest person to climb the seven summits: the highest peak on each continent, and he did it in a year. After that he knew skiing had to be a part of his life, and kept competing on the Freeskiing circuit, as well as started a career filming with Sherpas Cinema. He then started filming with Teton Gravity Research & Matchstick Productions. From 2018-2022, John had a string of knee injuries, which led him down a road of discovery and learning about the human body. Showing his recoveries online inspired a new tangent to his career, offering online workout programs, as well as working as an in-person physical trainer. More than fifty years ago, there was a proposal to build a gondola from the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird Ski Resort. What if it was the right idea all along?

Live from the Total Archery Challenge at Terry Peak South Dakota, Ricky has a chat with his good buddy Rick Hanson. If you've ever attended a Total Archery Challenge event, you have most likely rubbed elbows with the likes of Rick Hanson. His contagious laugh can be heard across the mountain as a sure sign that Rick is having a good time. Whether it's with old time friends, or someone he just met, Rick is sure to put a smile on everyone's face.  Rick is an inspiration to many as he set out to hike what he coined the Crow Peak 100 in 2020. Rick, among many of his supporters, was determined to summit Crow Peak, nestled into the Black Hills of South Dakota, 100 times in a single season. Without a doubt, he pulled it off. That's nearly 700 total miles with a combined elevation gain of 156,800 feet of elevation! In 2023, Rick also completed 6 major Black Hills summits, approx 35 miles, in a single day.  Ricky and Rick (Rick 2.0) discuss how they first got to know each other through a business that Ricky was a part of in 2010, called Pimp My Bow. They first met at a 3D archery shoot, Bowcast at the Bird, at Snowbird Ski Resort in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. After a day of shooting, it was clear that they would long be friends. Rick 2.0 dive into how simply amazing it is, that a bow can bring so many people together, to share in laughter and joy.  Rick Hanson is the curator of a social media following known as @projectrick. In the 99th episode of Run with Fitpage, we had a world record holder, Karl Meltzer, a.k.a., "Speedgoat Karl". Karl currently holds the record for most 100-mile trail race wins on earth: 38. Vikas and Karl discuss transitioning from marathon or half marathon distances to the longer ones, the ultramarathons. Karl is an ultrarunner and ultrarunning coach based in Sandy, Utah. Meltzer has won more 100-mile ultramarathons than any other ultramarathoner and has held speed records at major U.S. trails, including the Appalachian Trail and the Pony Express Trail. Meltzer's trail runs have been featured in news outlets from Ultrarunning.com to NBC Sports. Meltzer has been a professional ultramarathoner since 1999, and a coach since 2007. While many ultramarathoners tend to be vegetarian, vegan, and anti-alcohol or caffeine, Meltzer has been seen with bacon, Red Bull, and microbrews.On September 18, 2016, Meltzer set an Appalachian Trail record by completing the 2,190 miles over 14 states in 45 days 22 hours, and 38 minutes. This achievement was featured in a 2017 documentary movie "Made To Be Broken". Meltzer's record was eclipsed in September 2017 by Joe McConaughy in a self-supported run. The current A.T. fastest known time was by Belgian runner Karel Sabbe, who completed the trail in 41 days, 7 hours, and 39 minutes on August 29, 2018. Prepare yourselves for an exciting episode! We were extremely fortunate to catch Jessica Byers @followherarrow and Rihana Cary @rihanacary together at the same time during and extremely busy weekend for them at the Total Archery Challenge held at the Snowbird Ski Resort in SLC, UT. They are fresh off their trip to Australia and New Zealand and it was so great to hear their stories of the hunts they did and feel the emotion as they relived their success and challenges of hunting in unforgiving terrain. Statements such as " I thought we were going to die" and " I couldn't have done it without you" were spoken and felt as we sat and talked.  It became plainly obvious very quickly that these two women have a fierce determination to succeed and a undying love for the outdoors. Angel Collinson I've spent a lot of time riding alongside Angel across the country, and every conversation we've had has been a powerful one (whether it's serious or not). Angel skis fast, but her accomplishments extend beyond the mountains that she plays in. She is kind, always thinking, and at the end of the day still loves to have a good time. In this cast, we talk face to face about why she skis, what she wants to do with her life, her fears and hopes, and why being a nice, kind person is the ultimate.   Bio: Angel was born July 13th 1990 and grew up in the employee housing at the Snowbird Ski Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon Utah where she and her brother shared a five by twelve foot bedroom. Her dad worked for the snow safety department and her mom made their lifestyle possible by teaching in a one-room home school every winter, teaching kindergarten through high school to Angel, her brother Johnny and a few other kids. "Snow days" were "powder days” and as a result, ignited Angel’s passion for skiing. In the summers her family traveled for months and explored the mountains around the west. They lived out of a 1979 blue ford van that they renovated to make a "luxurious" home, which became their mobile summer base camp until she turned 14. Angel ski raced until she was 18, and enjoyed a successful career of competing internationally. Eventually her enthusiasm for big mountain skiing got the best of her.  Her love for the mountains and being outside was instilled when she was young, and growing up in nature inspired her to protect what has given her so much.  Currently she attends the University of Utah, studying environmental law and competes on the Freeskiing World Tour. In the summer she looks for every way to maximize her time outdoors – she rock climbs, kayaks, and even serves as a raft guide in Glacier National Park. For the passions she has Angel couldn't imagine living anywhere better than Snowbird, and she looks forward to the experiences that being part of the amazing big mountain community brings.
