Nutritional Revolution (NR) was created after, Owner Kyla Channell, saw that there was a true disconnect between daily nutrition and nutrition for athletes. Specifically on how to and when they should be using specific fueling methods to achieve optimal performance as well as health in their sport. NR believes that any one person no matter the age, weight or current struggle can make healthy changes to improve their well being and get closer to their goals through education, motivation, support, encouragement and the right guidance. In this podcast, we go beyond food & nutrition; we also explore the best practices for better living.

Send us a textIn this episode we talk with Isabel "Iz" King about:Being newly pregnant as an endurance athlete, and how that affects nutritionMental willpower through long bike races and injuryIsabel “Iz” King is a professional off-road cyclist from California who likes to push herself to new limits on the bike, while inspiring others to attack challenges with a smile. She didn't take a traditional path to becoming a professional off-road cyclist. Iz began her athletic career at Columbia University, playing D1 soccer, where she finished as the team's captain, first-time all-Ivy League honors and she earned the Ali Ahern MVP award. Despite those accolades and the momentum she built, she traded in her cleats for the world of finance post undergrad. She did find her way back, though. She discovered the world of endurance sport through triathlon while attending business school at UCLA Anderson. She eventually qualified to compete as a pro triathlete during her third 70.3 Ironman. The lure of cycling was too strong, and Isabel tabled her plans for post-grad work to pursue triathlon. However in 2020, she was inspired by the world's events to reimagine her athletic career, putting her training to good use to raise money for UCLA healthcare workers. She also partnered with Reggie Miller to speak out against social justice during this time. These days, Iz is back on the trails, and you can spot her in her signature orange kits—training hard on the roads of California and lining up for the LifeTime Grand Prix gravel and mountain bike races—always with a big smile on her face, proving that fast is fun and friendly. Please note that this podcast is created strictly for educational purposes and should never be used for medical diagnosis and treatment.Connect w/ Iz: IG: www.instagram.com/king_izStrava: https://www.strava.com/pros/20067483YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@king_izMentioned:LMNT electrolyte: https://amzn.to/4jdIDb5Carbs Fuel Drink Mix: https://amzn.to/3E5aUSfBrands that are supporting her as a pregnant athleteCamelbak: https://amzn.to/4cb63viScott Bikes: https://www.scott-sports.com/us/en/sports/bikeShimano: https://amzn.to/4j0nUHZGarmin: https://amzn.to/3FPTk5eCarbs Fuel: Shop The Feed Vittoria: https://vittoria.com/MORE NR New customers save 10% off all products on our website with the code NEWPOD10 If you would like to work with our practitioners, click here: https://nutritional-revolution.com/work-with-us/ Save 20% on all supplements at our trusted online source: https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/kchannell Join Nutritional Revolution's The Feed Club to get $20 off right away with an additional $20 Feed credit drop every 90 days.: https://thefeed.com/teams/nutritional-revolution If you're interested in sponsoring Nutritional Revolution Podcast, shoot us an email at nutritionalrev@gmail.com.
Send us a textOne of the top questions we get from athletes and clients surrounds creatine supplementation, so we wanted to revisit this super informative episode with researcher, coach and athlete Sam Moore, about creatine usage, especially as it relates to female athletes. We spoke with Sam about:How the menstrual cycle affects creatine supplementationHow creatine benefits fluid distributionWhy menstruators should supplement with creatineSam Moore is an applied sport scientist and Human Movement Science Doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Medicine, researching endocrinological topics of applied female athlete sport science. As the first woman to serve as a Director of Sport Science in the NCAA, Sam implemented a revolutionary and evidence informed framework of women's specific training design based on the hormonal landscape of the Wolfpack female athletes. Sam has presented at major international conferences on topics ranging from metabolic and performance effects of female sex hormones to bigger pictures issues of equity and social justice for women and gender diverse athletes.Sam completed her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Human Biology from Western Oregon University and her master's degree in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania. Prior to Carolina, Sam was with the NC State Wolfpack from 2019-2021 as the Director of Sport Science and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. After two season ending knee surgeries during her dual sport collegiate athletic career, Moore was drawn to the starkly different experience entering the “real-world” as a former female athlete compared to her male counterparts. This was the inception of what would later establish her as the topic expert in the field of female athlete physiology in the pursuit of gender equity in collegiate women's sports. Send us a textIn this episode we talk with pro trail runner and SubHub Podcast co-host, Dani Moreno about:How a running break between college and her pro career helped reignite her passion for runningHer nutrition strategies, and how they've changed as she's evolved as a runner, including through an eating disorder in her youthHer love and gratitude for sportDani Moreno is a pro trail runner residing in the Eastern Sierra mountain town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. She moved to the mountains at the end of 2020 from the coastal town of Santa Barbara, where she lived for a decade. While at UC Santa Barbara, she competed for the women's Cross Country and Track and Field programs, producing times that made her competitive on the conference and national level. After college, she took a break from running to rediscover herself, leaning into outdoor guiding and things like climbing, spearfishing, motorcycle riding and other activities that pushed her to her physiological limits. She found nothing gave her quite the same satisfaction as running and began dabbling in trail running, which reignited her passion. Soon she was exploring the Los Padres National Forest's front range on her off days. Trail running immediately appealed to all aspects of her personality in a way that no other type of running had before. As she began to race trails, new opportunities arose and doors opened. She began traveling all over the world, feeling gratitude the whole way. That feeling hasn't quit since 2016. Since her debut to the sport, she has exploded on the sub-ultra and ultra scene, with an incredible number of podium and top 10 finishes, including being the top American at UTMB's World Championship OCC race in Chamonix in August 2024, a top 5 finish at the 2024 Broken Arrow Skyrace 26k, 1st at Canyons Endurance Race, 1st at Kodiak Ultra Marathon 50k in 2023, 2nd at Mammoth Trailfest 26k in 2023, and many others. Please note that this podcast is created strictly for educational purposes and should never be used for medical diagnosis or treatment.Connect w/ Dani: @dan_yell_aSub Hub Podcast (Listen to Kyla's episode here)Mentioned:Adidas TerrexNeverSecondBobo's BarsKodiak OaMORE NR New customers save 10% off all products on our website with the code NEWPOD10 If you would like to work with our practitioners, click here: https://nutritional-revolution.com/work-with-us/ Save 20% on all supplements at our trusted online source: https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/kchannell Join Nutritional Revolution's The Feed Club to get $20 off right away with an additional $20 Feed credit drop every 90 days.: https://thefeed.com/teams/nutritional-revolution Interested in blood testing? Their dad worked in the snow safety department, so the pair was skiing and understanding the mountains from a very young age. John's mom homeschooled them in winter, allowing them to spend more time on skis. At 17, John won the Junior Freeskiing World tour, and the same year became the youngest person to climb the seven summits: the highest peak on each continent, and he did it in a year. After that he knew skiing had to be a part of his life, and kept competing on the Freeskiing circuit, as well as started a career filming with Sherpas Cinema. He then started filming with Teton Gravity Research & Matchstick Productions. From 2018-2022, John had a string of knee injuries, which led him down a road of discovery and learning about the human body. Showing his recoveries online inspired a new tangent to his career, offering online workout programs, as well as working as an in-person physical trainer. In this week's episode we talk to triathlon coach, Chris Bagg, about:How to effectively train for Ironman (full and 70.3)What you should be doing to qualify for Ironman World ChampsChris Bagg has been an athlete his whole life, ever since he dangled from the outside of an escalator in the Boston Museum of Science at age five. Chris played soccer through college, standing in one place as a goalkeeper, and then, after moving to Washington D.C., he discovered he had an aptitude for endurance, rather than ball sports. Since then he's been a runner, a triathlete, a cyclist, and a cross-country skier, all at a high level. He raced professionally and semi-professionally as a triathlete and cyclist for 15 years, respectively, posting career results of 4th at Ironman Canada in 2011, 2nd at Challenge Penticton in 2014, 13th (and top American) at the great Challenge Roth in 2017, 12th at the ITU Long Distance World Championships in 2017, and 22nd at Unbound Gravel in 2019. He started coaching endurance sports in 2009, but with his background as a teacher, he's been a coach for most of his life. He happily describes his job now as “a gym teacher for adults.”As the founder of Campfire Endurance Coaching, Chris aims to provide all athletes, regardless of level or genetic gift, with the kind of training that professional athletes receive: consistent and thoughtful communication, programs tailored to their goals and lives, and a wide perspective that encompasses the athlete's entire career. In this week's episode we talk to runner and Naval Office, Paul Johnson about:The logistics of running across the United StatesRaising money for Team Red, White and BlueFueling for 3,000 miles in 52 days (and change)In 2018 Naval Officer Paul Johnson went on his first deployment overseas to Spain. While it led to amazing opportunities, it was a difficult tour that weighed heavily on him and his fellow Sailors. His next duty station took him to San Diego in 2021, and once removed from the constant stressful environment of his first deployment, he began noticing the issues he had been dealing with, like persistent sleep issues, anxiety, and depression. He had been using alcohol as a coping mechanism, but his narrative began shifting in 2022, when a Marine friend asked Paul to train and run the Marine Corps Marathon. He trained for months, and they both ended up finishing the marathon in under 3 hours, and receiving their Boston Qualifier. During this time, he realized how much running helped him cope with the anxiety/depression symptoms he was experiencing. In January 2023, with a move to the East Coast, he started a run streak. This quickly evolved into entering the ultra scene, running 100 mile races by April 2023. Running was his therapy, and he found release and escape in a positive way. This year (2024), he tackled the TransCon, running 3,000 miles from California to New York to raise awareness & funds for mental health issues facing veterans through Team Red White and Blue, which exists to enrich the lives of veterans by providing opportunities to build a healthier lifestyle. Please note that this podcast is created strictly for educational purposes and should never be used for medical diagnosis and treatment.***Keep up with Paul Johnson:IG: @pauijohnsonYT: @pauijohnsonWebsite/Donate to Team RWB: www.pauljohnson.run Mentioned:Sports Nutrition Education ProgramBoston Athletic Assn. We hope everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday season. While we're on holiday break, we're bringing back a few of our top episodes of 2023, and this episode with pro cyclist Alexey Vermuelen is one of our favorites. We talked all about his nutrition experience and evolution, mistakes he learns from - so you don't have to - and training with the fastest cycling dog, Sir Willie the Weiner. Enjoy this episode!Alexey Vermeulen is an American cyclist who grew up racing on the road after getting into the sport through kids triathlon and inspiration from his grandfather (Opa). After spending two years in the World Tour with Jumbo Visma, Alexey pivoted towards the dirt (gravel & MTB) believing that the sponsorship model in professional cycling was flawed and that he could make a bigger impact where the barrier for entry was lower. Vermeulen has become famous on the circuit for training with Sir Willie the Weiner, a long-haired miniature dachshund that he carries in a backpack while riding. Recent results include winning BWR California, and Iceman Cometh in 2022.Please note that this podcast is created strictly for educational purposes and should never be used for medical diagnosis and treatment.See you in the next episode!***Book a FREE 15 minute call: https://nutritional-revolution.com/work-with-us/1 Week Real Food, Real Quick Meal Plan: https://nutritional-revolution.com/product/1-week-real-food-real-quick-meal-plan/Sports Nutrition Mini-Course Bundle: https://nutritional-revolution.com/product/sports-nutrition-webinars-bundle/***Mentioned:Alexey VermeulenTwitter: @alexeyvermeulenInstagram: @alexeyvermeulenYouTube: @alexeyandaveryCoach LucasWebsite: http://www.develocoaching.com Sports NutritionSkratch Super High Carb Drink Mix: https://amzn.to/3FlvoDPSkratch Hydration Drink Mix: https://amzn.to/3lebu6HFeed Zone Portables Cook Book: https://amzn.to/3ThM5p6MORE NR New customers save 10% off all products on our website with the code NEWPOD10 If you would like to work with our practitioners, click here: https://nutritional-revolution.com/work-with-us/ Save 20% on all supplements at our trusted online source: https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/kchannell Join Nutritional Revolution's The Feed Club to get $20 off right away with an additional $20 Feed credit drop every 90 days.: https://thefeed.com/teams/nutritional-revolution Interested in blood testing?
