Be sure to visit our sponsor MasonMillchiro.com for all your chiropractic needs!1: We at least desired to counterattack tonight, but lacked execution. Our best open play opportunity came from Thiago after staying compact and winning the ball back and GOING. 2: In the first half there JNCO sized pockets of space that no one was running in to. That's on the players. The movement off the ball in the second half improved. Hard to counter when the runs don't happen. 3: Guzan isn't losing his spot. He was great. 4: Defensively we look much more organized and compact. There were a couple scary moments in the first half but you can see that the chemistry and communication is building. 5: Maybe a small thing, but Gonzo did not look all that thrilled at the end. Good. I think he was really annoyed at the goal we conceded, even if it was a quality hit from a man who's done it many times before. Jon Chuckery is joined by 92-9 The Game's Atlanta United color analyst Jason Longshore as they revisit United's Wednesday night draw: On Brad Guzan's play in Wednesday's match being much needed On Atlanta United not being aggressive enough offensively On Guzan, United dodging a bullet on Vela penalty On how tough of a stretch the next few matches will be On what Messi joining MLS means for the league
Fresh off their CCL Final defeat at the hands (feet?) of Leon, LAFC found themselves back in the saddle at BMO, taking on Eastern Conference foe Atlanta United. How would LAFC respond? Well...LAFC got off to a bit of a slow start, as Atlanta took it to the defending champs for the first 15-18 minutes of the match. But as the match wore on, it became clear that LAFC was back on the attack and that their formidable offense was clicking once again. There was only one problem: Brad Guzan. A Herculean effort by Guzan coupled with a baffling pair of misses by Carlos Vela from the penalty spot left the home fans wanting as LAFC battled to a 0-0 draw. Also on this episode, say it with us: Lionel Messi is coming to MLS. Lionel-freaking-Messi is coming to MLS. And that wasn't even our "Wait, What?!" moment of the pod! Chicho heads to RSL, Mahala will play for his national team, and Olly goes on walkabout! Enjoy 256, because the next two will both be about... Houston.
Atlanta United Analyst Jason Longshore talks about why Atlanta United is competing in the US Open Cup, what to expect for a lineup tonight, dealing with injuries throughout the club, the goalie availability with Guzan out, what to expect from Memphis 901, the atmosphere at Kennesaw State, how well Atlanta United is faring in the MLS standings, and how quickly the team has developed chemistry.

Jason Longshore's Atlanta Soccer Tonight covers the 1-1 draw at Yankee Stadium for Atlanta United against NYCFC, the frustration from Gonzalo Pineda over watching his goalkeeper Brad Guzan fouled again with no repercussions, the discussion around Franco Ibarra's red, Dante Vanzeir's admission of guilt, and more on tonight's episode.
Atlanta United Goalie Brad Guzan joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the team's loss last night to Philadelphia, how have injuries affected the team this season and what is a day like for Guzan while he's rehabbing his injured Achilles.

1: Thiago looked very good for his first start. Apart from producing another GOW, there's not much more he could e done to get a goal tonight. He was very involved in the attacking play. He was eager to take players on, won his duels, stole balls and played several good balls into Moreno and Josef and Jackson. I think he's going to develop into a big chance creator for us. He's acclimated to the team very quickly and we're all the better for it. 2: Really happy that we're getting more production out of our set piece opportunities as well as being able to defend them better. We've scored off a hand full now and we defended corner after corner tonight. Gressel out like 10 dead balls into the 18 and somehow DC didn't convert on any of them. That's impressive considering how often we have conceded from corners in the past. 3: Guzan was massive again tonight and Alan Franco was at times a liability. Alan has been very up and down. Considering he was initially a DP signing we really need him to be more consistent and steady than he has been. 4: I would like to see us be able to spring counter attacks quicker and more effectively. We can get an intiial ball out but then we hold up the play too often. We're not a counter attacking team but we can do more with those opportunities. 5: I love to see Moreno on the dribble, just maybe at better times. Don't get me wrong, when it comes off it's beautiful watch, but there's just a few instances when he should lay it off instead. That aside, he was very good once again and had the game winner! Considering how often we was kicked and hacked at, he had a great performance. He's the new Barco in terms of being on the receiving end of fouls.

Wins against both of them could catapult the 5 Stripes into playoff position. The boys discuss what not only the matchups, but how they feel this season has shaped the team under its most recent leadership with Pineda and with major signing Luiz Araujo who still continues to search for his opening goal for the team. Tim and Kevin are here to bring you a weekly look at their hometown MLS team – Atlanta United FC. 4 in a row!!!! Nothing can stop this train from rollin as Atlanta United wins 2 more to make it 4 consecutive wins, for the first time since 2019 as the 5 stripes take down Toronto FC and DC United. With their recent results, ATL currently sit in 8th place in the East, just outside of the playoff line, but with the recent addition of Luiz Araujo into the mix, they look to be a completely different team. Despite back to back games with shaky performances in the second half, Atlanta continues to produce results, and walks away with 6 points this week nonetheless. The boys talk about Pineda and the recent tenure of Rob Valentino and what his role may be on the team going forward, as well as their expectations this week as Nashville pays a visit to Mercedes Benz Stadium here at home. Not even Limp Bizkit could stop this train. Atlanta United and the Chocolate Starfish rolls on to its second consecutive win against LAFC. A win that continues to build on the momentum of recent weeks, but the team still has a lot of ground to make up if they are expected to make it into the playoffs. This week's win continued to showcase Atlanta's finer touches via Josef, Barco, Moreno, Bello, and Robinson, as well as a welcomed return by Brooks Lenon. The boys gather round to talk about it all as we look ahead to this week's matchup against league's worst Toronto FC. Can Atlanta continue on their current trajectory? Only time will tell. And another one.... Atlanta United is like the DJ Khaled of winless matches after now going 11 straight and continuing to slide in MLS standings following their road loss to once "rival" Orlando City. A game that started with so much promise after Josef Martinez made a big statement just 1 minute into the match with a golazo. Despite having multiple leads throughout the match, Atlanta once again managed to blow a lead in the final 10 minutes of the match. In good news, Tim returns! While Tim is taking naps and changing diapers, Dan and Kevin are back to break down all the action this past week as Atlanta United squared off against FC Cincinnati in a 1-1 draw followed by a loss at home this weekend at the hands of the Columbus Crew. While both games see a marked improvement in the level of play for the 5-Stripes, they remain winless through their last 9 matches. The return of Josef Martinez definitely creates a spark, but they'll need a lot more than 1-2 pieces of the puzzle this weekend as they face rivals Orlando City on the road Friday night. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts..... will probably lose. Odds for this Friday's game has opened and according to sportsbettingdime.com, Atlanta United are going in as +280 underdogs. Not a bad payout if you're willing to put up the cash. Orlando is coming off of that 5-0 beat down this past weekend. No matter the outcome, Atlanta will need to figure things out fast if they are expected to compete in this years MLS playoffs. Currently sitting in 10th place in the East, every game counts, particularly against that Orlando Scum.
