A musical duo from Bulgaria, Faris and Sandro form a symbiosis between their Eastern roots, a family legacy of art, a background in technology and a passion for self-expression through music. Slow, but steadily the two have been making their moves in the electronic music world. They first caught the public eye by winning the remix competition of the famous track Emperor by Ali Love, which was released on Damian Lazarus’ esteemed Crosstown Rebels imprint. Subsequently, they’ve delivered more quality production on labels such as Audio Tonic, Tulipa Recordings, Submarine Vibes, Tenampa Recordings, Motek Music and most recently to Kindisch Music. Be sure there’s more projects in the pipeline. It is in the Catalan capital where the boys drew their inspiration and together with a couple of friends they established their personal project – Ritual Gatherings. A series of curated events, born in a small circle of friends, together in their passion for exploring the different shades of electronic music in an inclusive, family-like atmosphere. Not inclining towards the underground, neither the surface of the musical spectrum, but rather standing for the creation of an unadulterated vibration and a deeper musical experience. It’s Christmas! And for such a special occasion, we have a very special cocktail for you: "Jingle Berries”! This cocktail not only has a sensational name, it does also contain all the spirits you need for a spectacular holiday! It is super smooth but still energizing, it is festive but not corny. It’s just delicious, and it has been created just for the occasion. Parallells, a duo consisting of two French brothers currently based in Amsterdam, delivers the musical ingredients to this beauty. The duo grew up in a jazzy and funky environment, playing both at the Jazz conservatory. Their set can be characterized by the mix of several genres with a spacey and melodic touch. Parallells continuously search for new and unusual sounds that they use and translate into music. One of their project called “A Day At” is a video series where tracks are played live using only the environment’s organic sounds and analogue music gears. With releases on Bar 25, Submarine Vibes, Crossings and Klassified Records, they co-founded Klassified and also run its label and the Klassified Music Festival. And yes if it’s sound familiar, you are right! We can officially declare December 2018 as a Klassified Month, since Parallells are taking over from Rammo Music, their Klassified founder-buddies. Enrique Castillo y David Castillo, a duo from Madrid, that go under the moniker EKDK (@enrique-kado-and-david-kado) always know how to surprise us with their colorful, melodic, deep techno. The two brothers have been collectively carving out a niche for themselves in the underground, Spanish music scene for a little over 10 years. Together, the duo released their first EP back in 2010, and have since been cultivating their unique take on vibrant, melodic deep tech-house and techno. Have you already been a DJ and producer in these early electronic days? A: In the early 1990ies I was primarily the guy in the queue to Frankfurt’s electronic clubs & parties quite nervous as still under age hoping to slip in. I started producing in 1995 and had my first vinyl release in 1996 quickly followed by several other records which made it easier to built up a nice studio with a (few) samplers, synthesizers and recording gear in the following years. On the performing side I did Live-Acts first as I wasn’t the record collecting turntablist hanging in record stores every week in the first place. This changed in the early 2000’s when I was a bit tired of traveling every corner of the world with heavy gear and replaced that with the record box as DJing became a welcome foil to work in the studio with many benefits. Q: As a DJ you´ve already seen most parts of the world. But where is your favorite spot to play? A: As the world has so much to offer & every spot has it’s character it is really hard to pick a favorite and everybody knows I love India as well as the variety of the US as well as the fantastic people & food in South America but Europe of course too not to forget the other great Asian & African places. So as for me the traveling is still one of the best things in this job & life my favorite is always the exotic adventurous place in whatever time- or climate-zone but could be also around the corner here in Berlin. Q: You´ve got a recent release on Submarine Vibes out - which other Martin Roth stuff can we expect this year? A: I took a year of kinda paternity leave in the last 12 months so production-work fell a bit through and I was a bit quiet recently as I haven’t been really able to focus how I should. But I am back on track now since a few weeks, already finished my Anjunadeep09 contribution for this late summer, have several more plans with Maria (Marymoon) on the more Techno side, did two further nice collabs with close colleagues which will be out soon and will focus in addition a lot more on „An Analog Guy In A Digital World“. Touring will continue again through my favorite places in summer and autumn so check the agenda for dates.
